Coppa Osteria is a nice Italian restaurant with romantic vibes. I came here with two friends on a weekday evening without a reservation. They only had one table available inside that was close to the door, so we opted to sit outside. It was right next to parked cars. For appetizers, we got the crispy spiced chickpeas and caramelized Brussels sprouts. The chickpeas were not that great, and we did not finish them. They were very dry with spice. The Brussels sprouts were fine. Very normal tasting. My friend got the Fashion Week mocktail, and it was yummy. Very sweet with a strong raspberry flavour. For my entree, I had the carbonara. It was fantastic, and it was cool seeing the server mix it in front of me with the egg yolk. My vegetarian friend got the funghi pizza, and she thought it was mid. It was too strong of a mushroom taste for me, and it was very dry. We ended with the hazelnut chocolate cake for dessert. It's my friend's favourite, and it was delectable. The gelato and cake were insanely rich and delicious. This was a pricey dining experience, with each of us paying about $50 per person. read more

The service was phenomenal; our waiter was excellent, but we were also the first people in the restaurant. Once the room filled up, the service was spotty. I wish I had got our waiter's name; he went above and beyond to recommend a bottle of wine for us. He poured 3 different reds for us to choose from, and was very informative during the impromptu wine tasting we received. We were thrilled to have his knowledge and guidance in making our selection, as my husband is new to wine. The food was nothing special, which was a let down for us. Everything seemed rather dull and lackluster. The most tasty dish was the Pasta Carbonara, which I forgot to take a photo of. The fried mozzarella and Broken Arancini dishes were very underwhelming. I did enjoy the avocado mousse that was served beneath the Arancini. My Chicken Parmigiana was very mid, although it was tender and fairly moist. My favorite item was probably the dessert. For my main I got the Spaghetti Carbonara which was pretty solid, sauced well and had a good amount of meat. We also split the Quattro Formaggi pizza which was fine. We balled the hell out on desserts. Tiramisu was okay and couldve been soaked more. The Tortino was so good with a bunch of different layers. But the Hazelnut Cake was out of this world. It's frustrating, remembering how good the pizza was in their first year, to experience such a dense, tough pizza these years later. I'd avoid it. Proof that using bottled Italian spring water is irrelevant if the dough is not handled well. Just a bad pizza. A dead crust. Dough with no air bubbles. No gelatinization. Their hydration appears to be off. Not that anyone seems to notice. You see, with pizza dough, unlike in Mexico where the standard is to beat out every last bubble of air, pizza dough should be handled gently. Hands at ten and two. And you just push down and out. Don't over touch the pizza dough. It's about the amount of pressure. Like a pat on the back or a high five. Assertive but not assistive. Gravity works too. But that was the only mis-step. I was able to find parking along the building but they do offer a complimentary valet. I was having a dinner out with the mom's in my kid's grade at his school and they stuck our long table in the back corner and honestly the restaurant was so loud I couldn't hear anything. Food was fairly decent-wasn't my favorite but good. A little pricy for what it is and if I hadn't gorged myself on the millions of appetizers and multiple pizzas we had gotten I probably would have finished my pasta and still been hungry. Before heading in, I made a quick pit stop at a nearby shop for a few liquid appetizers (you know, just to build up the hunger). For starters, I went with the boquerones, and instantly, I was back in Madrid. A perfect balance of delicate sardines and roasted bell peppers - simple, vibrant, and exactly what you want. Then came the mains. The spaghetti carbonara a must-try. None of that pre-made, cream-laden nonsense just the real deal: egg yolk, black pepper, and Parmesan, exactly as it should be. And the tagliatelle nero di seppia. Let's just say it tasted like Neptune himself caught the lobster and shrimp that morning. Perfectly cooked, al dente pasta no sad, overcooked noodles here. For drinks, I stuck with a few Felipe Negronis (because why not?), while my wife sipped on their Flora Margaritas, which paired beautifully with the meal. And for dessert? We're back. Monthly team lunch on a cold, overcast Friday. Reservation for 7 at 11 am. The service is always stellar. From the server to the expeditors to the helpers. Friendly, polite and prompt. I have tried a few of their pasta dishes - squid ink pasta with seafood, linguine with shrimp and a rigatoni dish. Today I opted for the carbonara. My boss has gotten it a few times when we came and always said it was good. Today it was super salty. I thought it was just me bc I'm not a salt person but towards the middle of us eating, I asked my boss how his was and he said it was overly salty. Neither one of us wanted to make a big deal since we were having a nice time but it was salty. Their tre burri is still a star. The butters are so heavenly. The focaccia loaf did look a little smaller than in the past but still delectable. Will def be back again but may stick with what I know - the linguine. I made an account here just for this place. I came by with my girlfriend to try it out as we recently moved to the area and always saw how lovely it looked from the outside, but had never been in. We were given the best service we'd had in a long while by our server Nick, who was doing incredibly despite how crazy busy it was. He made the suggestion of trying the specials of the week which were just as delicious as he described (especially the la perla and the chocolate truffles). Cant speak highly enough about him, go Scotland!! It was a busy night but high energy and fun, my girlfriend and i loved the whole experience, the atmosphere, the food getting to us quick, and the perfect service tying it all together. My family are frequent fliers at Coppa. I think they come in 2+ times a week, so I have been eating here since they opened. Coppa's service is always phenomenal. I celebrated my college graduation here and the management made sure it was a beautiful venue and the service was fantastic. I am writing this review due to the meal I had last night. The Ravioli de Zucca, which is on the weekly specials menu, absolutely blew my mind. It was DELICIOUS. Honestly, I was blown away. The filling was amazing, the sauce was creamy, yet tangy. Came here based on a friend's recommendation. First restaurant is really nice..ambiance nice..had an appetizer and dinner and dessert with a friend..the food is really good. The service was really good. The reason im giving 3 stars is because of the drink prices they are ridiculous. My meal was only 29 so how do you charge 18 for a martini and my friend had gin and tonic also 18...makes no sense. People eat once at a restaurant and will spend more having drinks if you aren't overcharging for them..otherwise they have one and leave then your losing money. I had no idea the martini was 18 until after I had 3 and then looked at the bill. 60 for 3 martinis is a plain rip off...the same l price for gin and tonic also ridiculous. Also the cheapest glass of wine was 15 also ridiculous. I woke in this industry that kind of mark up works in a cocktail bar where no food is served but not in a restaurant where the food is 30 a plate. If you lowered your drink and wine prices id guarantee people would stick around and spend more money. I know higher end restaurants that don't charge those cocktail prices..that really disappointed me because the food is worth going back for. read more

I enjoyed one of the gin based cocktails followed by the charred okra as a starter which was really good. Something has gone horribly wrong with this restaurant, this used to be my favorite Italian restaurant in Houston but it has seen significant decline in the past few months, in both service and food quality. My family and I celebrated my birthday there this past Saturday night, October 12th. Our evening felt rushed as the server and staff seemed in a hurry to close the tables out. They started sweeping and vacuuming around us while we were eating our entrees, we asked our server to have them stop but this request seemed to annoy her, we requested to speak to a manager but they didn't have one on duty, or so we were told. Mind you this was 9:30pm on a Saturday night. This was a very unfortunate experience to a celebratory occasion. Our bill was over $500 on a table of four and we were gracious enough to tip accordingly. But I will probably never come back. read more

I had dinner here last Friday and really enjoyed the service, the ambiance, and the food. Our server was extremely kind and helpful with great recommendations. The restaurant had a really nice date-nighty vibe - the only weird thing was that from 6-8pm, the lighting changed at least twice with the first time being all the lights dimming and the second time a disco ball turned on lol. But still nice and a good volume for having conversation. For food, the fritto misto and tagliatelle Nero di seppia were both delicious. The only reason my review isn't 5 stars is because there was unfortunately a little bit of lobster shell in the pasta which just made me wary while eating. There were also tables outside with some space heaters. Parking was $10 for valet, and there's also some metered street parking around rice village. We couldn't quite understand our waiter and it took awhile to bring out courses. The food and drinks were great, however! We started out with the bread board, shishito peppers, and fried mozzarella for appetizers. All were great! The bread board has different types of fancy butter - definitely a good choice for something a bit different. For main courses, we got the mushroom ravioli, margherita and Moroccan pizzas, spaghetti carbonara, and pappardelle pasta. Also got the beet carpaccio and brussel sprouts. We were most impressed by the pastas - all incredible! Pizzas were good as well. I will say the beet carpaccio was just sliced beets on a plate, and was a bit underwhelming. And Brussels were pretty standard. Several people on our group were vegetarian, and it was a perfect place given the number of choices available. They also do a fun cotton candy birthday treat topped with a sparkler for birthdays, which is very unique and fun! Though it did take quite awhile to bring out. We were incredibly well taken care, best service I've had in a while. From door to check we were happy with everything. The ambiance is perfect for a more intimate dinner setting with lit candles at every table. We ordered the house made rosemary focaccia (so so good - I recommend dipping in the truffle butter), rigatoni, and carbonara. In addition to a friends recommendation, the evening service flickering table side candle sticks drew me in. I have to be honest, while the place was packed, I'm not sure if I could define the clientele. Upon arrival, I received stares from seated parties, suggesting I was indeed not their typical clientele, but the exterior had families with a dog or two ( I assume they offer a dog friendly patio), and a wide variety of patrons flocked in and out as we enjoyed our meal on the patio. The entirety of my experience boils down to three main tips: -bread service was delightful! After a day out and about, I'd recommend it. It's fun to try the various bread and butter pairings. -In contrast, the servive we received was well below average. Originally we had to flag down a waiter who instead of apologizing that we waited 20 minutes in the sun without a passing glance asked "what do you want", then disappeared for another 15-20 min. We noticed that this held true for a few tables around us as well, and I assumed each server was "in the weeds", so I wish you better service when dining. -make a reservation (especially for dinner service). The ambiance is very romantic with dim lighting and most tables sat 2-4 people. There were some larger groups there, but I would probably keep this place in mind for a date night or dinner with a couple close friends. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive and helped us decide on some great dishes. We had the cesar salad and a couple of pasta dishes and we were pleased with every last one of them. We also ordered a bottle of red wine that paired well with our food and was a recommendation from our server. We did not have dessert this time around, but will be interested to try a few of the options. Waited for him to refill our tea. My meal came ten minutes after my husband's and daughter's meal. Food went cold after 5 minutes because of the wind outside. Our heater went out and we had to hunt down the waiter to have him check it and then wait some more for them to change the gas tank.
