I went down for Happy Hour on a Friday evening. I had 4 cocktails, and they were all pretty nice. Happy Hour is from 4-630pm. When I arrived around 430pm, it was quite empty but the crowd did pick up a bit later. $10 cocktails during HH were a pretty good deal. I had the mango habanero margarita, peach & orange blossom martini and the passionfruit colado. I enjoyed all 3 though I would say there was a lot of ice and the portions were on the smaller side. For my last drink, I ordered the matcha martini but wasn't a fan, so they made me a cocktail from the berry bomb shot instead, which was nice. (They can make cocktails from any of the shots). I sat at the bar, and there was a rotating group of bartenders. I would say the first 2 were not particularly friendly, but our last bartender was very friendly and nice, which made up for it! Maybe it's just me, but I think when you have people sitting at the bar, it's always nice for bartenders to make an effort and be friendly and chatty, especially if someone is sitting alone at the bar!

Popped into Melrose for a quick cocktail. Mezcal is one of my favorites, so I ordered the Tepache Mezcalita--and it was amazing. You can tell each signature cocktail is carefully crafted to suit a variety of palates. We didn't come during happy hour, so the price was $17. But if you're on a budget, stop by Monday-Friday from 4:00-6:30 PM, when all signature cocktails are just $10! Also the aesthetic is already beautiful in here and the service is phenomenal at the bar.

My friends and I saw the Melrose Tuesday Oyster & Martini Happy Hour on instagram and it would be a perfect spot to meet up after work. With everything going on with gulf oysters (bacteria/ people getting sick) , we had made sure it would be east oysters. Upon arrival, we each ordered a drink and then attempted to order oysters when we were informed they were gulf despite the post and reel saying it was East coast oysters. We were all very disappointed. The guys of the group all ordered burgers and fries from the HH menu instead. The fries arrived and are pretty thick cut and I enjoyed them. The burgers are pretty lack luster and I was glad I hadn't ordered one (especially when the guys said they weren't that good and weren't worth ordering again). The ambiance was great although I'd say the music was a bit too loud for an early Tuesday. With that said, it wasn't an issue and we still enjoyed the vibe very much. Additionally, the service was great. We were a bit surprised at the end that even for parties of 4 or less, gratuity is automatically added. All in all, I'd go again for the ambiance, service and cocktails but the food is to be skipped.

Came here for happy hour, and the drinks were good, but it was pretty empty and not the best atmosphere. But it was perfect for a good yap session :) the bartender was attentive and even let us know that he could make the shots into full sized drinks for happy hour. There is valet parking, or if you're lucky, street parking as well.

I'll be honest with y'all, I had some serious reservations about coming here (and not just the 6pm kind). Get it? No? Anyways, Melrose has had a reputation for being very selective at the door, especially with their so-called "dress code," which, to be clear, has been known to feel discriminatory toward people who look like me. I'm all for a dress code but when you pick and choose who it applies to, that's where you lose me. If it wasn't for my friend begging to go before she moved, I wouldn't have ever patronized them. That said, we had no issues at the door and the actual experience was surprisingly pleasant. We opted to sit outside at the bar instead of inside (way too cold in there), and the outdoor patio was gorgeous. They even had an upstairs seating area. Walter, our bartender, was the best part of the night. He made me the most refreshing mocktails and kept us locked in with great conversation. For food, we shared the fries and the spicy tuna rice crisp. Both were tasty, though I wish the menu was a bit more extensive, but I hear that's changing soon. Overall, we had a genuinely good time. The staff we interacted with were warm and welcoming. My only lingering side-eye is still the door policy. I've heard the bouncer situation has been addressed, and I truly hope that's the case, because the hospitality inside is worth experiencing without the headache at the door. Here's to being better and doing better Melrose!

This new Lounge Bar created by the person that owned Clarkwood when it was good really knocked it out of the park with this very sultry inspired Lounge. Luan is an amazing bartender and we will follow him everywhere and I even told him "You know this place feels like the ambiance I miss at Clarkwood" that's when I discovered the owner who created Clarkwood creared Melrose as well, I had the pleasure of enjoying 2 cocktails there, a Carajillo and Southside, for bites we had some truffle fries which were amazing and the sauces they serve with it are really good! Can't remember what it was but of course ketchup and mayo and if you know about that you know mixing that on fries tastes amazing! I was impressed with their Tuna Rice Cakes, I was skeptical at first but Luan knew it is Lent and suggested and he knew exactly what I needed! One of the waitresses there, Alejandra, was very sweet and accommodating, she allowed me and my friend to probably bore her ear to death with chatting her up but she was very graceful and a class act! It's needless to say Melrose did it right and was very particular about staff selections which I love! Everyone there was amazing and very welcoming! Top notch service if I may say so myself!! And the ambiance... breathtaking! I love this new rendition and I really think I found a spot I can finally frequent. I am glad I had the privilege of experiencing the lounge before the crazy rush came in so I could enjoy and take in all its splendor! Great job whoever the owner is! Oh and also DJ Vee was spinning some literal eargasm sounds! Love the genre!

Okay this place is so posh! Apparently this place is all the rage on the socials but a friend hosted a bday happy hour here so I came through. I lovvveee the decor very cutesy, elegant and sleek. It is actually a pleasant surprise when you enter in comparison to the exterior. They have a very limited food menu and exquisite drinks! They are strong, unique and well made! Our waitress was fire and really provided top notch serivice. Now it was entirely too hot to be sitting outside, but once the weather permits I will be exploring their beautiful patio! There is also space for photos as there is a cute koi pond and the quintessential grass wall. There is street parking and complimentary valet. They might change at night. I went during HH so I can't speak to their evening shenanigans but! I had a great time and would definitely come back for their HH.

Walking in is like walking into a vacation. I love the open space and scenery. The outdoor patio is perfect for summers. We went for brunch and the place was not quite full yet so service was quick. The espresso martini was good and the lox and bagel were satisfactory. I loved the presentation. My friends enjoyed their chicken and biscuits I would love to see this place in the night time. I would love to see this place in the night time.

We went to Melrose for cocktails on a Saturday evening before a 7pm dinner reservation. This was actually our second attempt at trying this new hot spot because the first time we came there was literally not a single seat available. This time, there were several tables open but only one that didn't have a reserved sign on top so we snagged that one. I do feel that they would benefit from having a hostess to help with seating instead of a seat yourself situation, but I digress. Our waitress was super friendly and made recommendations when solicited. My husband really enjoyed the espresso tini and my friends liked the detox martini and the Southside. The ambiance in the space is very chic but it was also absolutely freezing cold. Unsure if it's always that cold but I became physically uncomfortable. Overall we enjoyed the experience and I think it's a good addition to the neighborhood.

Melrose is a cute, sophisticated cocktail bar that reminds me of a place I would find in LA. I came for happy hour, and while it did take a couple of minutes for the server to notice I was seated, my waitress and waiter were very kind. I started off with an espresso martini, which, to my surprise was very well-balanced with notes of cinnamon. I also enjoyed the Melrose burger. I really liked the brioche bun on the burger. I will say the actual burger was slightly too salty for me, as it seemed to have sea salt, but pay no mind to me as I typically am salt-averse. I also am not typically a pickle fan but I liked the pickles on this burger (the acidity also helped cut through the salt for me!). Overall I really enjoyed the two items I had as well as the ambiance of this spot. Would come again for drinks and small bites with friends!

I was surprised with a bday reservation here by my bf. The place is gorgeous and gives Tulum vibes. The lighting and decor is amazing. Our waitresses were great as well. We had a board and drinks and all were up to par. My only complaint was my bf asked prior to coming was a photographer ok to bring in and was approved and was denied once he arrived. It upset me because he literally had the photographer there a few nights before so that was weird of the manager. This was going to be epic for me.

Pretty place, night lighting, there is an outdoor spot/patio with a bar there as well. More seating outside and upstairs outside. Music is loud, but it's a cocktail bar. Easier to talk outside. Feels like LA

We came during happy hour and it was such a great deal. I ordered the Sweet Like Peach Tree, which was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced with the peach and ginger. My husband got the Frozen Paloma and it was just as good, super smooth with the right citrus bite. We also shared the churros and they were honestly a must order. Warm, crispy, and paired with Nutella and caramel. What really made the experience stand out though was our bartender, Manny. He was incredibly welcoming from the moment we sat down, had such a great personality, and made the whole experience feel personal. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that kind of service is hard to find. He also told us about their upcoming two year anniversary party on May 3rd with rotating live DJs, which sounds like it will be such a fun time. We will definitely be back. Considering the recent shutter of other places (#2) within the hospitality umbrella, it's not too big of a surprise that Wooster's would also be in the crosshairs. The space was always a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, which combined with its dedicated parking lot made this an easy drinking outlet for all kinds of occasions. The intimate indoor space was lovely and well ventilated, and it felt like there wasn't ever a moment where the bar wasn't slammed. The outdoor space was much of the same, with lots of tables and chairs, and even the trendy swing chairs facing the city. The only thing that was a little bit of a liability were those open flame heaters; it would only take on person to accidentally walk into one or trip onto it. For libations, the drinks were well priced, well made, and always potent. I appreciated the aesthetics, as well as the bartenders who made them. The only part that wasn't exciting was the limited food menu, which did its part as munchies for the drink heavy crowd, but was mediocre otherwise. The space is already undergoing the new facelift of a separate concept, one of which I hope will do the area justice, just as much as Wooster's did. ____________ (#1) The Kirby Group. (#2) R.I.P. It wears the posture of a dive but carries itself with intention, a little bohem, a little defiant, and entirely comfortable in its own skin. The bar hums with craft. Cocktails arrive balanced and deliberate, built by hands that understand restraint as much as flair. Nothing shouts. Nothing apologizes. Each glass feels considered, as though the bartender paused just long enough to ask what kind of night you were hoping to have, then answered without speaking. The staff moves easily, quick with wit and generous with attention, treating regulars and first-timers as if both had already earned their place. The decor tells its own quiet rebellion. Mismatched, layered, worn just enough to feel lived in, it carries the sense that stories have been told here and will be told again. I went because this was the only bar open during Labor Day when I had guest visiting. So I would say it's a pretty nice location, considering the fact that it is always consistently open. They had a good menu with different cocktails that were fun and fruity. Otherwise, I did also see people could order coffee at the bar and have different espresso drinks. It looks like the drink that I ordered is also no longer on the menu. The bar prides itself on having a rotating meal changing menu so I think that's a lot of fun when it comes to trying new drinks and new combinations and it truly shows the artistry of the bartender. There was the option of both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was more of a dimmer, elegant and darker tone. I can see it being pretty classic if you were to go at night time. The bar set up was really beautiful and they had different 2 to 4 seating wooden tables. Overall, the inside would probably only fit around 20 people. I was very sad because we couldn't sit outside. The day before it had rained so every outdoor seating was wet. But I was told that they had a beautiful seating outside with a garden and a pool. Service was good. The bartender came out of the bar to take orders, give menus and give you the check. I will say that it got really busy at the end and it took a while to get our check. There's only one or two bartenders working at one time so if there's multiple people with different drinks that are ordered, it will take a little bit longer. Not hard to find, it's located to the right as you walk in. What brought us here is that it's listed as one of the top 50 bars in Houston in Houstonia Magazine. Service (3/5): While we had a waitress, she was slow to greet us and slow to check up on us. It's a small bar and there isn't a ton of seating so it's not like she was overwhelmed. For a fancy hotel, you expect better. Maybe sitting at the bar is better than sitting at some seats as we did. Ambiance (4/5): The Colombe d'Or is a beautiful hotel and Bar No. 3 reflects that. It's an elegant spot to grab a drink, although small. Food (N/A): While there are expensive items on the menu, I had dinner earlier that night so I was on a liquid diet. Drinks (3/5): Bar No. 3 is known for its cocktails so I focused on the cocktail list. The list isn't large but it features a nice selection. Like the food, you're going to pay a premium. I enjoyed my adult beverage but felt like it was a bit overpriced. Hitting up hotel bars isn't a common occurrence in Houston unless you're a traveler. For Bar No. 3 to be the only hotel bar on Houstonia's top 50 is a feat in itself.
