My goodness what a gem! It is tucked away into such a quaint little neighborhood of historical homes, and decorated so tastefully. Beautiful garden, absolutely delicious drinks, and just an all around wonderful spot for date night or girls night. We got the Frenchmen and the azalea spritz, and both were excellent! Highly, highly recommend this place!

Very charming bar, albeit very small with limited seating. The drinks were impeccable. Service was a little slow at the bar but better at a table, probably because there is only one bartender. Overall good experience and would come back.

Ok this place was a total vibe!!!! Houston has nothing like it!! We loved all the drinks we tried and their snacks were plain but yummy! A very cute place to grab drinks with your girls or coworkers. The service was phenomenal and I can't wait to go back and actually stay at the hotel. It's so cute!!

If you enjoy European elegance and romantic neoclassical charm aesthetic, Bar Madonna is where you want to indulge at. You can find it nestled inside the historic 1900's built house turned 9 room inn, the Marlene. Ambiance: 5/5 Fully enjoyed the architecture and all the decor found throughout the place. The charm and attention to details was on full display upon walking up and walking throughout the place. With outdoor and indoor seating, it spaciously spaced out so people aren't on top of each other. Parking is mostly street but valet is also available for $7, which I opted for as street parking seemed minimal at the time I arrived. The valet was super friendly and attentive, we chatted for a good bit before and after my visit. Learned from him when the busier days were. (Thursday-Sunday) Service: 3/5 While I was greeted, the host likely needs back up because she went to show someone their room and people were waiting behind me, even to step into the bar you have to check with the hostess to make sure there is seating available as they don't take reservations, only walk ins. Once she left we stood there for a bit, bartender happened to walk by and just let us know someone will be with us shortly. Once seated at the bar, bartender greeted again and that's where the welcome ended. Got served water as I looked over the drink menu. Food (drinks): 4/5 The drinks were made with care and tasted fine, but nothing that really stood out to set it apart from a bar that has specialty drinks for less or an experience that you want to return to. Pimm's Cup - simple and herbal. Nothing to write home about. Southeastern - it was a refreshing gin based cucumber, hot honey and bitters drink. It seems to have been the popular drink as I looked around and saw many people with it. Fully enjoyed the polished and elegant look of the place, but service lacked the consistent warmth and heart that was shown to select people as one of the key elements that keeps people returning.

Stopped into Bar Madonna as our first stop on a little Montrose bike bar crawl, and wow--what a treat! Even though it's only been open a week, it already feels like a gem. Walking in feels like stepping into a New Orleans boutique hotel--stylish, intimate, and full of character. The bar is tucked inside The Marlene, and there are some nice outdoor seating options if you want to soak up the vibe outside too. I had the Southeastern, a smooth cucumber gin cocktail that was light, refreshing, and perfect for summer. We also snacked on some rosemary almonds and cashews--simple but delicious. We spent some time chatting with our bartender, Carlos, and it's always a bonus when you get some good banter, a few laughs, and genuinely fun conversation as part of the experience. The bar staff was friendly and versatile, with everyone mixing, serving, and bussing seamlessly. Drinks came out fast and were made with care. Can't wait to come back and see how this spot grows!

Went on a bar crawl to visit the boutique hotel bars in the area. I was greeted warmly when I entered the Marlene Inn and escorted to the quaint bar in the rear of the hotel. Eric was an exceptional bartender and crafted an amazing drink (St. Roch Sour). I appreciated our conversation and his local suggestions being from out of town. When I come back to Houston, I would definitely come back!

I originally left a 1-star review after a disappointing first visit where I felt dismissed and unwelcome. To my surprise, Thomas, the owner, personally reached out, gave me his number, and invited me back to experience the bar properly even offering the first round on them. That gesture alone spoke volumes about how much he cares about his guests, so yesterday my husband and I decided to give it another try. This time, the experience couldn't have been more different. The hostess was super sweet and welcoming, and we sat at the bar where Max, our bartender, absolutely made the night. He was professional, warm, and clearly knows his craft every cocktail he made was spot-on and delicious. We had a great conversation with him, and the atmosphere overall was lively yet comfortable. The place itself is adorable, and this visit really showed me the charm it has when the team is in sync. I'm so glad I gave Bar Madonna another chance. Everyone was kind, attentive, and genuine this time around, and it completely changed my perspective. Thomas clearly cares about creating a welcoming experience, and it shows. We'll definitely be coming back! Thanks for everything!! :)

Located in the Montrose area. No parking lot only street parking. Such a cute ambiance. It is European elegance with a romantic charm. They mainly only have drinks and small snack choices. Their drinks are on par and do off the menu drinks as well which is a plus. I did 4 starts because of the limited snack options. Service was quick and easy. The servers were helpful and the hostess was very sweet and personable.

Beautiful bar and great location. The drinks are tasty and the service was wonderful. I absolutely love all the French Catholic decor. I will definitely be recommending this place. God bless.

First, the vibe. It is warm, stylish, and very Montrose in the best way. It feels elevated but still relaxed enough to just sit, talk, and enjoy your time without feeling rushed. We came during happy hour and it was such a great deal. I ordered the Sweet Like Peach Tree, which was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced with the peach and ginger. My husband got the Frozen Paloma and it was just as good, super smooth with the right citrus bite. We also shared the churros and they were honestly a must order. Warm, crispy, and paired with Nutella and caramel. What really made the experience stand out though was our bartender, Manny. He was incredibly welcoming from the moment we sat down, had such a great personality, and made the whole experience feel personal. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that kind of service is hard to find. He also told us about their upcoming two year anniversary party on May 3rd with rotating live DJs, which sounds like it will be such a fun time. We will definitely be back. Between the drinks, the atmosphere, and the service, this place really gets it right.

They have bingo nights, dj nights, and other themed events that keep the place packed out. Maybe once I try the burgers, it'll be 5 stars, but the smallll parking lot and lack of safe street parking keep me at 4.

Considering the recent shutter of other places (#2) within the hospitality umbrella, it's not too big of a surprise that Wooster's would also be in the crosshairs. The space was always a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, which combined with its dedicated parking lot made this an easy drinking outlet for all kinds of occasions. The intimate indoor space was lovely and well ventilated, and it felt like there wasn't ever a moment where the bar wasn't slammed. The outdoor space was much of the same, with lots of tables and chairs, and even the trendy swing chairs facing the city. The only thing that was a little bit of a liability were those open flame heaters; it would only take on person to accidentally walk into one or trip onto it. For libations, the drinks were well priced, well made, and always potent. I appreciated the aesthetics, as well as the bartenders who made them. The only part that wasn't exciting was the limited food menu, which did its part as munchies for the drink heavy crowd, but was mediocre otherwise. The space is already undergoing the new facelift of a separate concept, one of which I hope will do the area justice, just as much as Wooster's did. ____________ (#1) The Kirby Group. (#2) R.I.P. You are drawn, the way one is drawn to a place that promises honesty with a wink. It wears the posture of a dive but carries itself with intention, a little bohem, a little defiant, and entirely comfortable in its own skin. The bar hums with craft. Cocktails arrive balanced and deliberate, built by hands that understand restraint as much as flair. Nothing shouts. Nothing apologizes. Each glass feels considered, as though the bartender paused just long enough to ask what kind of night you were hoping to have, then answered without speaking. The staff moves easily, quick with wit and generous with attention, treating regulars and first-timers as if both had already earned their place. The decor tells its own quiet rebellion. Mismatched, layered, worn just enough to feel lived in, it carries the sense that stories have been told here and will be told again. And then there are the bathrooms, unisex and unashamed, their walls papered with vintage Playboy centerfolds that celebrate the female form not as spectacle but as art. Tasteful, sexy, unapologetic. A reminder that admiration can exist without crudeness, that beauty does not need permission to be acknowledged. The Two Headed Dog is less a bar than a posture toward the world. It resists neat categories. Not quite dive, not quite cocktail lounge, not quite anything else that could be reduced to a label. It is a place for those who appreciate craft without pretension, sensuality without excess, and atmosphere without artifice. In a city that thrives on reinvention, this bar stands firm, confident enough to be exactly what it is and nothing more.

I went because this was the only bar open during Labor Day when I had guest visiting. So I would say it's a pretty nice location, considering the fact that it is always consistently open. They had a good menu with different cocktails that were fun and fruity. Otherwise, I did also see people could order coffee at the bar and have different espresso drinks. It looks like the drink that I ordered is also no longer on the menu. The bar prides itself on having a rotating meal changing menu so I think that's a lot of fun when it comes to trying new drinks and new combinations and it truly shows the artistry of the bartender. There was the option of both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was more of a dimmer, elegant and darker tone. I can see it being pretty classic if you were to go at night time. The bar set up was really beautiful and they had different 2 to 4 seating wooden tables. Overall, the inside would probably only fit around 20 people. I was very sad because we couldn't sit outside. The day before it had rained so every outdoor seating was wet. But I was told that they had a beautiful seating outside with a garden and a pool. Service was good. The bartender came out of the bar to take orders, give menus and give you the check. I will say that it got really busy at the end and it took a while to get our check. There's only one or two bartenders working at one time so if there's multiple people with different drinks that are ordered, it will take a little bit longer. There is both valet parking and also street parking in the neighborhood nearby.

Service (3/5): While we had a waitress, she was slow to greet us and slow to check up on us. It's a small bar and there isn't a ton of seating so it's not like she was overwhelmed. For a fancy hotel, you expect better. Maybe sitting at the bar is better than sitting at some seats as we did. Ambiance (4/5): The Colombe d'Or is a beautiful hotel and Bar No. 3 reflects that. It's an elegant spot to grab a drink, although small. Food (N/A): While there are expensive items on the menu, I had dinner earlier that night so I was on a liquid diet. Drinks (3/5): Bar No. 3 is known for its cocktails so I focused on the cocktail list. The list isn't large but it features a nice selection. Like the food, you're going to pay a premium. I enjoyed my adult beverage but felt like it was a bit overpriced. Hitting up hotel bars isn't a common occurrence in Houston unless you're a traveler. For Bar No. 3 to be the only hotel bar on Houstonia's top 50 is a feat in itself.
