[[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was very good. I can't recall her name but her service was excellent. Food was delicious...I got the Brisket beef burger and fries. Delicious delicious Delicious is the only way to describe the experience.

WARMED PEACH COBBLER was DELICIOUS TOO

1ST TIME VISITING and Bartender wasn't friendly...at all. Waitress was EXTREMELY FRIENDLY and apologized for his DEMEANOR. I enjoyed the Steak and Potatoes special- food was seasoned perfectly! And warmed peach cobbler was delicious; not too sweet-Perfect! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Red Room (RnB) was awesome and the vibe was chill.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I've been here a few times and it's always a positive experience with my most recent one being the best. I last minute booked a reservation for Sunday brunch the day of, and it worked out perfectly in that it was filled up inside, but they were able to seat us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe in five central is definitely a bit of an older crowd for the most part, but lit at the same time. It has a lively atmosphere and there was even a live DJ for brunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered waffles with cheese eggs and bacon and I will say I felt like the food could've been better. That's why I wouldn't give this place five stars because I ordered cheese eggs and they got my order wrong and when I asked them to fix it as in make another order of cheese eggs they quickly fried an egg and just put a slice of pepper jack cheese on top which just felt very rushed and wasn't that tasty. I've just never had eggs with pepper jack cheese before. Lol and it just wasn't the best tasting scrambled eggs I've ever had at all.. The waffle was pretty good but nothing to write home about so overall my food was OK/good but I definitely feel like the vibe in there is really nice and I like that. It was pretty busy and the service was good but not great. Our server was nice but she could've been a little bit more attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have a lounge literally right next-door like not even next-door it's attached so you can just walk right across and so we went there for drinks afterwards and there was some music playing there and people were dancing so it was a nice little Sunday fun day vibe and I enjoyed myself.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will definitely return.

Had dinner and drinks with friends after a day of celebrating and hanging out. I chose "With Love" as my cocktail and it did not disappoint. For dinner I ordered the Fannie Mae's fried chicken and it was everything! I had Mac 'n cheese on the side and collard greens on the side. The food was amazing but the greens were overly spicy and I just could not enjoy them. I sent them back and swapped it for sautéed spinach and it was great! We couldn't stop at dinner so we each ordered dessert. The peach cobbler was good. It could've been a bit warmer but it was very good. Our waitress was very nice and provided good service. About an hour into dinner I got up to go to the bathroom. The bathroom is in between the adjoining club/bar next door. The bathroom did not match the ambience of the restaurant, in aesthetic or cleanliness. Matter of fact it was disgusting. If I didn't have to go so bad and didn't have a 40+ minute drive home I would've just held it. Toilet paper on the floor. The toilets and sinks were unclean. A broken stall and doors that didn't close properly. It was disgusting. Had I never seen the bathroom I would've given the restaurant 5 stars but the disgusting bathroom killed it.

This whole place and it's entirety is a vibe!!! There are so many different rooms--a restaurant, a bar, a lounge, cigar lounge and other rooms. This place is amazing; I could spend all day here. The food was okay and the mimosas were okay. Although the food wasn't the best, I would eat here again and try something else. There was a DJ in the bar area who played all the jams. I only went to the restaurant, bar, and cigar lounge. All 3 rooms were top notch. The concept of this place is outstanding and innovative. There's valet parking and street parking, but the street parking may be difficult to come by. I highly recommend this place.

I went for a birthday party and didn't know what to expect. I ordered the fried chicken with greens and lobster Mac and cheese. It was sooo good!!! Our server was attentive to our every need. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was also a live band but unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to stay and listen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The origami ceiling, lively bar, friendly staff, unique cocktails, fun bathroom, and photo booth in the corner made for an unforgettable experience. My friend said it was the busiest he had ever seen the place, and it was loud. But we got some awesome drinks that I swore I could've taken pics of -- the lighting was a little crazy, so I think I ultimately changed my mind with that. One was the periscope which was a refreshing and summery gin drink... And I think I tried the naked and famous too because I like mezcal. I had already eaten so I skipped the restaurant the speakeasy's connected to, but I cannot wait to return to Houston outside of a Con so I can really go all out on exploring. It was an amazing way to end my first night!

So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

It also felt like a third space of sorts, because I was hanging out with a well connected friend, and everyone who came in was a who's who of the Houston restaurant/nightlife scene, and gathered for what turned out to be an unplanned hang out. They were hosting a vinyl swap night, so folks were coming in to peruse the many boxes of vinyls, and a DJ spun classic r&b tunes. I hear that on some nights they make space for a dance floor so people can show off their best two step in the space. The drinks were great and well priced but the wine selection is what got me. I was told they were inspired by Japan's many vinyl listening bars-- having been to many across Japan as well as many NYC imitators, this place actually impressively comes close. Regarding the food, the Frisée Salad was pretty good, well dressed and flavorful. The chicken sandwich was okay. The batter was crispy and flaky but it had no flavor. What made it a lot better was the coleslaw that brought a great deal of tang and moisture. The steak was not quite for me. It came on a bed of sauce that was flavorful with fresh veggies but it did not go well with the steak. Perhaps chicken would've suited better. The steak itself was dry and quite chewy. For dessert we had the carrot cake tres leches which was decent. The carrot cake flavor was there but the moisture from the cake was not fully spread in the cake. Overall nothing here was bad but with the plethora of restaurants in the Houston area I can't justify recommending or returning.

First, we got there pretty early for our reservation. We sat almost immediately upon check in. Our waiter was in training but did a really good job. Ordered a whiskey sour. Was seated at the bar so I got to watch it be made. The bartender- man that guy never stopped. He was organized and just did his thing. So many pretty drinks were made while I was there watching. The pink one, whatever it was, was really pretty! On to the food. We got two apps, two meals, and two desserts. Husband ordered the Brussels, Steak Frites, and the Devil's Affogato. I got the Bacon covered Dates, the Pizza, and the Sticky Toffee Cake. The Brussels were good - husband liked them more than me. They were good. Had cashews in them. Little spicy. The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. The desserts - don't skip them! The Devils Affogato we had the first time we ate at Sixty Vines. Had to have it again. If you like coffee, chocolate and vanilla ice cream just get it. Restaurant vibe is relaxed and clean. There were several large parties and what looked like a lot of date night guests. Just try it. No regrets!!
