Five Central was so amazing Alicia help me for a 20 top. She was so nice and helpful. Also was very attentive. I give this place five stars.

After a Sunday fun day, we were looking for a dinner spot in the area. My friend had been to Five Central prior and sang its praises, so the group decided to check it out. We Ubered over, so I didn't pay attention to the parking situation. Ambiance (3.5/5): Five Central is big! There's a big restaurant, a cigar lounge, a huge patio, and more. While we dined at the restaurant, it seems like there's a ton to check out here. They often will host live music too as I saw some ads about it while I was in the restroom. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress was great. She was friendly, attentive, and she went above and beyond. They brought me the wrong side, and I told her it was okay, but she ended up bringing me the right side a few minutes later. Which meant my meal had three sides instead of the two it came with. I really appreciated that! Drinks (4/5): Five Central has a good list of cocktails and more, but I wasn't in the mood for alcohol, so I went with a Shirley Temple lol. That brought me back. One of my favorite beverages as a kid. They were out of maraschino cherries, but we made it work. Food (4/5): We started off by splitting the coconut curry wings and the parmesan chicken bites. Out of the two appetizers, the chicken bites were my favorite. They were fried just right, crispy, while still tender inside. The sauce smothered on top made the dish. The wings, on the other hand, while flavorful, were a bit small. Still good though. With that being said, the star of the evening was my entree: the fried chicken. Fried chicken is either going to be a hit or a miss... here, it's definitely a hit. Crispy and well-seasoned on the outside, juicy and tender inside. Served with a sweet hot sauce, Texas toast, and your choice of two sides. I went with fries and mashed potatoes. The sides were just as good. The mashed potatoes were a buttery heaven and the fries were crisp and you could tell they weren't frozen. It's a generous portion size, too! I ate half and took the rest to-go. If you're looking for some Southern cooking, with love, Five Central is an awesome spot. read more

stopped into Five Central with high expectations the kind you get when a place looks like it has a story to tell. The space is visually striking, layered, and honestly just a cool place to sit, soak it in, and be part of the scene. It feels like something Anthony Bourdain would've paused to appreciate that raw, curated vibe that promises more than just a meal. We ordered a spread: chicken wraps, fried chicken, a couple of Ketel One drinks, and finished things off with red velvet cake and bread pudding. On paper, it reads like a lineup that should hit. In reality, it landed somewhere in the middle. Nothing was bad but nothing really sang either. The fried chicken had the right idea but didn't quite deliver that crave-worthy punch. The wraps were fine, the desserts decent, and the drinks did their job. It all felt... acceptable. Like the kitchen understood the assignment but didn't fully commit to it. What stood out most was the contrast the menu is ambitious, the atmosphere pulls you in, but the food doesn't quite translate that same energy to the plate. It's the kind of place you want to love more than you actually do. That said, it's still a solid spot to check out, especially for the vibe and the experience. We had a 2:30 reservation, showed up at 3:30, and they were completely chill about it. Great first impression. Free parking lot right next to the building -- convenient and appreciated. Party of 8 was seated right away with no hassle. We ordered a mimosa tower for $50, which came out to about 2 mimosas per person, and hookah for $20. Since we came during happy hour there were also shot and drink specials, so the timing worked out perfectly. The DJ was genuinely interactive the whole time -- kept our energy up to the point where we ended up inviting more friends out to join us mid-visit. That's the mark of a good time. Now the food -- almost an afterthought with how much fun we were having, but it delivered. I got the Five Central breakfast, which is a mountain of food. Easily 4 eggs, plus all the fixings. My friend ordered the lobster and grits and it was so good I immediately had order envy. That's my order next time, no debate. The bathrooms were clean and the mirror lighting is genuinely great for photos if that matters to you. My meal came to $21 before tax, very reasonable especially during happy hour. Just note that gratuity of about 18% is added automatically for parties over 6. No surprises if you know going in. Will absolutely be back. read more

I've been here a few times and it's always a positive experience with my most recent one being the best. I last minute booked a reservation for Sunday brunch the day of, and it worked out perfectly in that it was filled up inside, but they were able to seat us. The vibe in five central is definitely a bit of an older crowd for the most part, but lit at the same time. It has a lively atmosphere and there was even a live DJ for brunch. I ordered waffles with cheese eggs and bacon and I will say I felt like the food could've been better. That's why I wouldn't give this place five stars because I ordered cheese eggs and they got my order wrong and when I asked them to fix it as in make another order of cheese eggs they quickly fried an egg and just put a slice of pepper jack cheese on top which just felt very rushed and wasn't that tasty. I've just never had eggs with pepper jack cheese before. Lol and it just wasn't the best tasting scrambled eggs I've ever had at all.. The waffle was pretty good but nothing to write home about so overall my food was OK/good but I definitely feel like the vibe in there is really nice and I like that. It was pretty busy and the service was good but not great. Our server was nice but she could've been a little bit more attentive. They also have a lounge literally right next-door like not even next-door it's attached so you can just walk right across and so we went there for drinks afterwards and there was some music playing there and people were dancing so it was a nice little Sunday fun day vibe and I enjoyed myself. 10/11/2025 ​I visited Five Central on multiple Tuesday nights for the social dancing. It's part of the current Spanish music scene in Houston. They have live bands, and the crowd is pretty mixed--all ages show up. It can definitely get hot and stuffy at times, so be ready for that. ​They have two bars. The drinks aren't expensive, but the service isn't the fastest; you might end up waiting a bit to get served. The dancing area is okay, but it can be difficult in some spots because they have rugs on the floor. On the plus side, there is plenty of free seating available if you need a break. ​The level of dancing is decent; good dancers attend, but it's also beginner-friendly. I noticed beginners coming for the bachata lesson and social dancing. I think the class starts around 9 PM, but you should call and double-check that time. Parking is a pain--the parking lot is super tight. Honestly, you're better off skipping the lot entirely and just parking on the street a block or two away. read more

Had dinner and drinks with friends after a day of celebrating and hanging out. I chose "With Love" as my cocktail and it did not disappoint. For dinner I ordered the Fannie Mae's fried chicken and it was everything! I had Mac 'n cheese on the side and collard greens on the side. The food was amazing but the greens were overly spicy and I just could not enjoy them. I sent them back and swapped it for sautéed spinach and it was great! We couldn't stop at dinner so we each ordered dessert. The peach cobbler was good. It could've been a bit warmer but it was very good. Our waitress was very nice and provided good service. About an hour into dinner I got up to go to the bathroom. The bathroom is in between the adjoining club/bar next door. The bathroom did not match the ambience of the restaurant, in aesthetic or cleanliness. Matter of fact it was disgusting. If I didn't have to go so bad and didn't have a 40+ minute drive home I would've just held it. Toilet paper on the floor. The toilets and sinks were unclean. A broken stall and doors that didn't close properly. It was disgusting. Had I never seen the bathroom I would've given the restaurant 5 stars but the disgusting bathroom killed it. read more

This whole place and it's entirety is a vibe!!! There are so many different rooms--a restaurant, a bar, a lounge, cigar lounge and other rooms. This place is amazing; I could spend all day here. The food was okay and the mimosas were okay. Although the food wasn't the best, I would eat here again and try something else. There was a DJ in the bar area who played all the jams. I only went to the restaurant, bar, and cigar lounge. All 3 rooms were top notch. The concept of this place is outstanding and innovative. There's valet parking and street parking, but the street parking may be difficult to come by. I highly recommend this place. read more

Nice place but this review is for the valet. I valet parked because the parking sucks & they damaged my car. I didn't notice it until the next day. It wasn't too bad but it was very noticeable. Anyone with integrity would have informed me, but nothing. I decided to not pursue this matter because it would be my word against theres. My daughter, grandson and I I visited on 1/5 for brunch. There was hair on my food. My daughter and I shared the food. Instead of the entire order being taken back, only the plate was taken back with my food on it. I was told the meal would be discounted. When the receipt was brought out, there was no discount, when brought to the waitress attention, she took the receipts back, she came back and said a discount could not be done on seperate tickets, I asked for the food to be put on one ticket ((My daughter and I asked for the bill to be split) The waitress came back with 2 receipts and there was only a discount on my ticket. This wasn't my first time here and not my last. It's definitely a vibe. I enjoyed the entire night. Valet parking is $20 I feel like it could have been less. I don't even know where they park your car. I got there and the lot was empty but when I came out my car had been moved so the more expensive cars can be in the lot. I didn't like that at all. The appetizer was delicious and very flavorful. My salmon had a scorched taste. My guest lamb was tough. Our food did not come out together. The drinks was good. Black excellence on FULL display. 2 stories, 6 bars, different music at each bar, 1 cigar lounge, hookah bar, 5-star food. Just Amazing!!! I went to Central Five last week for an event an organization I am connected with was having there. The space was very nice and a trendy chic vibe. Definitely nice for having get togethers. They are connected to Upper Kirby Bistro. Central Five serves food from Upper Kirby Bistro which are right next to each other and owned by the same people. Both areas have a bar. At night it gets pretty live and they have a dj and live music in the Upper Kirby Bistro section. The bartender made me a special drink. I told him what flavors and alcohol and he made me a drink from that. They have a lot of choices on the menu and their happy hour menu has a lot of variety. I ended up getting the Shrimp Creole Pasta to go. It had jumbo shrimp, cajun andouille sausage bacon, roasted baby heirloom tomatoes, and creole cream. I recommend. I found it quite tasty. I will say for those who like really spicy, it has mild spice but you can request they make it spicier. I will definitely be going back. Parking - street parking, $10 valet, there is also a parking garage about one block away. read more

I was there for a Latin night that happens Tuesday nights. Ambience was good and so was the music. The floors were a little in need of TLC (only dancers would notice or care about this.) My friends had some food and they said it was ok, except for the sliders which were too spicy. I went to the bar to buy a water and the bar tenders were very fast with the service.
