Came here for a couple of drinks and a small bite with a friend during their happy hour before an event we were attending nearby. This spot is located up on the third floor where the iPic theater is located. The seating around the space is well thought where one could take a date or group here while not feeling confined. Food & Drink - 3.25* There was nothing on the food menu we had that had me wow'd. That said, we ordered small appetizer type plates, no mains as we were about to eat a large meal for this event. Based on the apps alone I wouldn't order any mains. The drinks were good, but again nothing spectacular. Everything was very average. Service - 3* This is where I can't really make heads or tails. Our first bartender at the bar was quite good. She constantly asked how we were doing. She was busy closing out her shift as well. She ended up transferring the check without letting us know she was leaving. So we were left with the new bartender and this one was terrible. Not once did she ask how we were doing or if we wanted anything else. It wasn't until we asked for the check she seemed eager to do her job. She was more focused on talking to her coworkers and even folks that weren't working that clearly she was close friends with. If I was a manager of this location, that would be the type of behavior that would have me looking for replacements. Sorry, not sorry for saying it. Cost - 3* I thought the food portions were a bit small, even for happy hour pricing and the drinks were decently priced for happy hour. So I'll stick this as average as well. Overall - 3* Overall, nothing stands out here and I wouldn't come back for anything other than if I found myself going to the movies. Even then, I'd probably grab a drink at the bar but would close out immediately and then sit there annoyingly, in a petty fashion, until my movie was about to start solely based off this most recent experience. I have been coming to this theater for over 10 years, which is why this experience was so upsetting and shocking. After driving about an hour to attend a movie, I came in needing to use the restroom urgently before checking in and explained that to the employee at the front. Instead of being met with understanding, I was told I needed to leave the building to find a restroom elsewhere. Another employee ultimately allowed me to use the restroom. Before going, I did say that the situation felt like "horrible customer service," because I was simply trying to use the restroom after a long drive. I was then told I could not speak that way and asked to address it with a manager afterward. When I came out of the restroom, the manager was already there. Without asking what had happened or giving me an opportunity to explain, he immediately told me I would not be allowed to stay and said security had been called. I wasn't given a chance to resolve anything, use my ticket, or continue with what was meant to be a Valentine's Day outing. Within minutes, multiple police officers and a security guard arrived to escort me out, even though I was calm and cooperative. The sudden escalation was extremely distressing. What began as a simple request turned into an experience that felt humiliating, frightening, and completely unnecessary. As a long-time customer, this was deeply disappointing. A conversation and a little compassion could have resolved this. I hope management reviews how situations like this are handled so no one else has to go through something similar. read more

Tuck Room has ladies night every Tuesday where certain drinks are only $3 and some food items are significantly discounted. We decided to check it out because, why not!!! It wasn't crowded when we went either and we were seated at a booth. The $3 drinks were decent and the food was pretty good except the wings which my friends said was not cooked well. The bartender was super sweet so the service was good and he was generous with the pour. It's definitely worth checking out. P.S: Note to management, swap out that carpet or get it shampooed. Although we only had the truffle fries and a few drinks (wine and espresso martinis), I have to say they were really delicious. The servers are attentive and nice, and the ambiance is a bit like a speakeasy with low lighting and a vintage feel. The Tuck room is very disappointing to be in such a great neighborhood in Houston. I will be reviewing the atomosphere, service and food. The restaurant is casual with modern decor with a unique wall mural that can be used as a conversation starter. The place also has the potential to be a great place for dining with friends. The reality is this is a place I will never bring family or friends. Very slow service and unattenttentive wait staff. My party consisted of 4 people. Upon entering we were not shown to our tables just told to sit anywhere we please and the wait staff didn't approach our table for at least 10 min of sitting to at least offer water. Keep in mind the restaurant at this time only had eight people including my party at the time to serve. Once the server walked up she never introduced herself or welcome us to the restaurant she asked for our drink orders in a reluctant manner. A little while after the waitress was no where to be found and we were ready to order appetizers. Receiving food in this place was like pulling teeth and the place was not busy at all. The most people in the place were fourteen including my party. We ordered Truffle fries that were soggy and lack truffle, Brussel Sprouts that definitely have room for improvement like needs a sauce of some kind and Artichoke Dip that was nothing special. The entrees that we ordered were Chicken Sandwhich that was sent back because it did come out the way the wait staff told me I could order it. When Larry the manager came over to ask why the food was sent back after receiving the answer he was very chalant about it so I decided not to order anything. Although I was the last to order food my food came out first and the rest if my party's food was not delivered. If I would have eaten I most likely would have been halfway through my meal before my party got started because it was another 20 minutes before the next order came out and one person in my party never received her order. Come to find out her order was never placed. When it was time to pay the check. We originally put a card on file to start a tab we did let the wait staff know that our tickets would be separate, and the wait staff told us they would not run the card and we could have split checks upon check out time. The waitress ran the credit card and did not split our checks. That was ridiculous and very rude to lie. This restaurant has a potential however the staff needs training and the management team need coaching and development pronto! Keto menu???? Yes, please! I've been here a few times before but I was exceptionally pleased to learn that they had a keto menu. I think this accommodation of one of the newer, modern way of eating is a nod to its progressive environment. Beautiful interior design, excellent drinks, great service, and lovely atmosphere. It's homey yet edgy and wistful. Perfect for date night or a casual get-together (they have lovely stuffed chairs and a balcony. For my drink, I had the strawberry basil delight. My main course was the succulent Angus Burger lettuce cups complete with cheese (nom nom nom) and for dessert, I tried their keto cheesecake, which was not as good as the real thing but was still good enough to diminish my sweet tooth cravings. My husband and I have been to the tuck room a few times. This restaurant located inside of Ipic is playing on both sides of hit and miss. The atmosphere is great, the decor is beautiful, and the ease of having a nice seat is one of the reasons why we like to come to this establishment for date night. The issue is the food. Sometimes the food is delicious and sometimes it's just ok. On this visit (sep. 12.19) I ordered the Brussel sprouts. They were amazing as they were the previous time I ordered them. There is consistency with the sprouts! The Brussels sprouts have a unique flavor profile and I can honestly say they are on my list of top Brussel sprouts in the city. The cashews and apples are just bomb. Now the downfall.... the grilled chicken tacos. They were a miss for me. The chicken was dry and the taco as a whole lacked flavor. The serving consists of 2 tacos, a side of guacamole and chips. I only ate 1 taco out of the 2 so that tells you something... who wastes tacos?!?! The guacamole was decent but it was a very small serving. The chips were the best part of the entree. They were seasoned well with a good crunch. My husband had the wagyu beast burger. The burger was pretty good. I liked that they asked how you would like it prepared. My husband felt that the bun was too much bread. He actually took off the top and ate it as if it was an open faced sandwich. The French fries that accompanied the burger were hot and fresh and seasoned well. No complaints there. We also order the white sangria. We both enjoyed the flavor. Could have been a little stronger but overall a solid drink. Next visit we will try something else and revisit the lobster roll and the buttermilk fried chicken because those dishes were awesome on the previous visit. The Tuck Room is my new favorite hidden gem. If you have never stepped foot inside the iPic Theater you may never find out about it, unless you are on Yelp of course. In my opinion this place should stand alone, and not inside of a movie theater. I enjoyed The Tuck Room from the time I walked in until I left. They have an awesome live band on Fridays called, Vinyl Fuzion and they really set the mood (I loved it). The reason I gave this place 4 stars was due to a few errors in the service. My guest and I waited 30 minutes for the complimentary snack (it was free so we didn't complain about the time), but it would have been nice if the bartender would have offered or mentioned it to us, we came across it on the March Madness menu (Note: this was my guest 3rd or 4th time at this place & he knew nothing about the snack,so I assume it was only offered during March Madness). After enjoying the tasty snack we decided to order wings, which took about 10-12 minutes, so no issue there; however, we received the wrong order. Also, since the bar is somewhat small I would recommend purse hooks for the guest. I held my purse in my lap the entire time, which was a bit uncomfortable. Who would have thought that the movies would have a great bar? I usually go during the weekend and they usually have a live band on Friday. The drinks and food are terrific. I usually get the ginger fizz infused with basil and the burgers are pretty amazing. It's a bit pricey but the ambiance is good. It's a bit upscale but not unreasonably so. They even have TVs to watch whatever game is on. The menu at the bar also seems more extensive than the one you get inside the theater. Do not get this drink on tap; I repeat do not get on tap lol; have it made fresh at the bar - it is worth it! I did dig the layout of the location as well as the service provided at the bar! It was an afternoon outing and not many people in the venue (which was great for quick service) however, there were a ton of lingering finished dishes at the bar that let off a weird odor! First off, service was awesome! Maybe because it was a Sunday? Honestly I wouldn't come back here unless it was happy hour, otherwise it's way too expensive and I've had better drinks at local bars. I'm not one to arrive anywhere early, much less a movie to watch previews, but anytime we go to iPic, The Tuck Room is our first stop. This "chef driven" menu offers more than what's offered inside the theater once seated. And yes, you can pack up your food / wine to take into the screening. But we like to arrive extra early, enjoy some wine, appetizers and maybe dessert. The papas bravas were a surprise and very filling: meatballs, potatoes, goat cheese, and tomato sauce. The berry pot pie was also a delicious dessert. It's a puff pastry filled with berries and ice cream, then topped with whipped cream. There seems to be a seasonal version of this dessert, because right now for winter it's a caramel apple pot pie. I haven't tried any of their cocktails, but that will be next time during happy hour when they're $6. read more

I never thought I would say hey let's hit up the bar at the movie theater, but the Tuck Room is as fun as any bar around town. They have a good happy hour on both food and drinks and I've been a couple times. Some of the items are a hit or a miss but I like their loaded tots and pulled pork sliders. What I really love about the Tuck Room is the upscale decor/vibe. They play music, they have TVs at the bar so you can watch the game, and the good-looking waitresses don't hurt either. We came for our movie at iPic about 45 minutes early and stopped here for appetizers. Unbeknownst to us, it was actually happy hour! & a good one at that. Their happy hour runs from 4-7 and there were a good amount of choices. They have open seating and it's super cool inside. We ordered the papas bravas and that was the perfect appetizer. Our bartender was super nice, but we did notice a whole lot of wait staff just waiting along the sides - hopefully the Thursday night crowd livened up some. Their wine list is organized in a fascinating manner - whites from foodie to frisky to fat and reds from supple to robust to ripped. I had a glass of the Cabernet Alamos Mendoza, Argentina 2013, which I really enjoyed. If you don't finish your drink, you can bring it into the theatre. I ordered the lobster cobb salad (poached lobster, bibb and romaine, beefsteak and toybox tomato, avocado, bacon, egg), and my dining partner ordered the wagyu beast burger (cheddar, shallots, bacon jam, ham, bacon, aioli). I thought my salad had a very generous portion of lobster. It was a very large salad overall, with plenty of toppings. Overall a good ratio of toppings to lettuce. Service is always friendly and welcoming here, and you just can't beat it for a drink and some bites with friends before (or after) a movie in their awesome theater. The Tuck Room's fried chicken is really chicken tenders, I feel like they should reword that....that can be very misleading because when I see fried chicken on the menu, I'm not thinking chicken tenders. The sauces that came with the chicken both were very tasty.....the drink I ordered was a Merlot which was $7 on the happy hour menu. The other 5 ladies also enjoyed their meals...we were all very satisfied with the food. My former colleague who hosted the event been here before but for the rest of us it was our first time lol. The Tuck Room is one of my favorite places to eat in The District shopping center. It is located inside the iPic movie theater which seemed a little odd, but I love movies so this is also a selling point! The atmosphere is upscale, but not over the top. The seating is very comfortable and there is always energy in the air, but nothing too loud. The food is always top notch and consistently delivers a terrific meal regardless of the time of day. The only downside is that the service is normally lacking a little and the wait staff moves at a very slow pace. Just expect that going in and you will heavily enjoy your meal. It was 2pm on Valentine's Day and the place was pretty quiet... clearly after a lunch rush so I thought this would be even better for us. However, the only cool green booth set up and available for us had a dry sticky spill on the table and food still on the seat and dirty menu. We asked if they could clean the area and a lady from behind the bar took her time coming over to accommodate us. She wiped the table but not the food on the seat. When we nicely asked if she could wipe the seats she ignored us and proceeded to clean and bus the adjacent booth and then walked away from us altogether. We did the same. My order was never put in. Nobody ever checked on my order or asked if I needed anything. If I didn't specifically ask for a drink or a water refill, I wouldn't have got that either. 2 hours later, I was "full" on water, since that was the only thing the servers could manage to get right. It was SLOW in the restaurant with only a few tables that came and went ... all that were served and closed out before I could even get a refill. The food that did come to the table was sub-par, and one of our party couldn't get the correct order for food OR her drink, but at least she got one. They took a card to hold on file, eventhough we told them we were splitting the check, only to have them run the entire table on one tab, INCLUDING items we NEVER got. Highly recommend going ANYWHERE else if you actually are hungry. The service, the food, and the atmosphere are not worth the long and tiresome wait. Our group was talking about how terrible things were when we got back to the hotel, and I think the front desk lady felt sorry for me never getting my food, and she gave me something from the hotel's grab and go area for free. SUPER sad that I got better service from my hotel lobby than I got from the entire experience at The Tuck Room. My food is always incorrect. Our server told us we could order food in the restaurant and have it delivered to us in the theater. We received soft pretzels thirty minutes later in the theater even though we ordered mac and cheese fries. I also ordered the squash tacos, which are supposed to be served with guacamole according to the menu and yet were not. Minor issues but the things I paid for were more expensive than what I received. I had to ask for popcorn several times and the in-theater servers don't seem to remember anything if you only ask them once. The service is terrible for the price. Last time I went, I ordered a Mediterranean salad wrap and was served a chicken wrap. Pretty upsetting given that I am a vegetarian and it's difficult to see in a dark theater; I only noticed after I had taken a bite. All the waiter did was take the cost of the chicken wrap off my bill, no apology or effort to make that right and didn't seem to understand why a vegetarian might be annoyed at eating chicken. I came here to see the iPIC movie. I didn't realize until later when I was inside the movie theater that the menu for the movie theater is the same as the Tuck room. My advice is if you want to go to the movies and want dinner at the same time or lunch, go to the IPIC an order off the same menu that they have in the tuck room. I ordered a stuffed avocado and the lobster roll both were delicious and I would recommend that you order it when you come here. I also had a bloody Mary that was really good they made it with V-8 juice so it taste really fresh. If you've never been here, this is the same bathroom that the movie theater people uses when they're done at the movies. Shared area where you wash your hands but separate area for males and females to use the bathroom. I think it's pretty cool but there is a long long long line to wait in after u go to the movies.
