Beautiful cafe/bar in downtown. A major downside is parking, but that's all of downtown. Staff were super friendly. Their matcha was just okay. Their pizza and BLT were pretty good, if you get hungry while there. There's ample space to make it your study or work station for a few hours.

My friend and I met up on a Monday evening to partake in the Eat Drink HTX $25 pre fixe dinner. The Sylvie is owned by the Berg Hospitality Group. It's located in the lobby of the Texas Tower. There's plenty of parking garages nearby, however we had no trouble finding street parking. The decor and lighting are beautiful. The cafe gives upscale vibes. The massive tree like sculpture is an attention grabber. I was confused on the set up when I walked in because I didn't see a host stand. I stood at the counter for awhile and noticed that one of the cooks was on her phone. After waiting for a minute, I asked her if it was counter service or full service. She pointed to another employee to help me instead of just answering my question. I was under the impression that it was counter service as there were menus by the registers, however the young man explained that it is a hybrid of counter and full service. He said I could order at the counter or grab a seat and he would be over. Service was slow the entire evening. I had the Strawberry Rose Refresher (mocktail). It was really good! My friend had a spicy margarita. She liked the margarita, but was disappointed that the server didn't ask her if she wanted salt on the rim (and of course when it came out, the rim was bare). We ordered drinks before the first course was brought out, but we didn't receive them until the second course. Panzanella Salad - I enjoyed the flavor as well as the texture contrast. Roasted Turkey Sandwich - It tasted fine, but nothing about the ingredients or flavors stood out to me. Chocolate Cake - I didn't love it, but it was good enough. I had to settle on the chocolate cake because they ran out of the Strawberry Cream Cake. My friend had the Panzanella Salad, Truffled Chicken Salad, and Tiramisu. The chicken salad looked so good, but I did not try any. My friend enjoyed the chicken salad and the tiramisu. The meal was fine, but I was expecting more from an upscale French inspired cafe. The staff was very nice, however the speed of service needs some improvement. I would consider coming back for breakfast because some of the menu items look really good. It wasn't a horrible experience, but I'm glad we didn't have to pay full price.

The Sylvie is a really nice bar and coffee shop located downtown. It's tucked inside a financial center, so you'll see plenty of people badging in and out for work throughout the day. The space has several cozy areas that are perfect for working or studying, which I loved. I ordered a lavender matcha, and it was delicious and at a great price. Lavender is a bit out of season, so I was pleasantly surprised they still had it on the menu. If you're ever downtown, definitely check them out!

Let me start off by saying the Sylvie is such a gorgeous spot downtown for a meeting, or a place to work. I ordered a flat white and the truffled chicken sandwich. Both were okay. I'm not sure I would return here again for the food as it is a little overpriced in my opinion, but the location itself is so gorgeous and I loved the ambiance to read here. Would definitely come back to order something small and read for a few hours :)

I love this place as a coffee shop. The aesthetic is so pleasing and it's not loud in there like many other coffee shops not a lot of food options, but enough to get you by. I have had the pizza and a sandwich and enjoyed both the staff is friendly and very helpful as well.

I have visited a few times, I've even taken my kids for a quick weekend lunch. Absolutely gorgeous place. Easy parking is available all around the building on the street. It's currently less than $2 an hour for metered parking, and free at night and on the weekends. Espresso Martinis are so good! They even have an espresso mexitini that subs reposado tequila for the normal vodka. That's as close to coffee as I can get lol! Pizzas are delicious and fresh. Croissant was super hard that I received on my first visit. I couldn't even cut it, I had to send it back. Turkey sandwich was pretty good and came toasted with grill lines on the bread. Menu is very deli-like, so think salads, sandwiches, etc. Great girls working at the bar, they're super helpful and make quick drinks. I usually choose to sit at the bar when I visit, but I will grab a table when with my kids. Awesome views from any seat. I always have to ask for the food menu when sitting at the bar, just a heads up. They also offer grab & go options, with a variety of coffee, teas and pastries. Good luck with a croissant lol :) Good spot to do some work, grab a light bite, or visit for a drink after work. No crowd is the best part. Food 7 Service 6 Ambiance 9

The powers of social media brought me here, but unfortunately the experience was underwhelming. On a positive note, the interior is very beautiful and light, making it a great spot for a lunch meeting or coffee date. However, the food and coffee were extremely disappointing. I ordered the recommended cranberry turkey sandwich, but it was extremely dry and tasteless. I also had a matcha latte which was not high quality and also surprisingly tasteless. I would come back for the aesthetics but not for the food or drink.

You can no longer bring you laptop/Ipad and work at the cafe. Coffee is ok. If you want a spot to get some deep work done, this isnt it.

I had…read moreheard good things for years, and I remember driving past it a couple times and not seeing it or any signage. Even this time the GPS took us to an entrance that had us going the wrong way down a one-way, but we eventually figured it out I will say that the parking isn't all that great, but we were able to find a spot. If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu. And most nights they're open until 12am, but on Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 2am If you order food online (technically from Hando's) you can get 10% off using code: HANDO10. This is part of their "Hando and Chill" special Cheers!!

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and it's a fun, family-friendly atmosphere with lots of families and kids. The biggest issue was the way the restaurant was being operated. There was a line out the door that moved incredibly slowly, and we watched several people get in line and eventually leave because of the wait. What was strange was that there were often plenty of open tables inside, yet orders were still being taken and pizzas were being made at a very slow pace. It felt less like the employees weren't working hard and more like the whole operation was being intentionally paced or poorly managed. The staff seemed to be following whatever system they had been given, but that system clearly wasn't working. With a line out the door and open tables available, they should have been cranking out pizzas and moving people through much faster. Excellent pizza, friendly people, and a great atmosphere--but the management and operations could use some serious improvement.

It's located right at 19th St. and Shepherd near the light. There's a small angled parking lot that can be tight when people park along the fence. It looks like a cute tiny A-frame home with a few patio tables in the front. The inner area has about 6-7 high tables. It's nice and clean inside. The vibe feels similar to H-Town Brewing Co. but on a smaller scale. You can also sit at the bar. I didn't really like the high tables/chairs. They're not as comfortable. It was hot out, and there are mosquitos, so we sat inside. I ordered the salmon plate for steak night. The drinks here are ok, and since I don't really drink, I was looking for mocktail options. In this era, most places have mocktail options with brand alternatives like Ritual, Seedlip and Lyre's or at the least, something with juice, Topo Chico and simple syrup. The female bartender made me a NA margarita which was great. I liked that she didn't make it too sweet or too tart which happens with mocktails that don't have alternatives and are mostly juice or lemon. On the other hand, when I ordered a second, the guy bartender made it too sweet. I didn't like his version. For the alcoholic versions, they seem to have good cocktails, wine, beer and flights. They also have daily specials. Aside from the steak night, they don't serve food here. It wouldn't be my first choice of bars in this area.
