I ordered the Bruschetta Board with (1) prosciutto-fontina-fig jam, (2) sweet spicy jam & goat cheese, (3) mozzarella, bacon, arugula, & tomato, (4) smoked salmon, pesto, & capers. I enjoyed all 4. The happy hour usually starts at 3p & sometimes that's when the bartender arrives. Perfect Place for brunch! My friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday, so we opted to do Sunday Morning Brunch. The ambiance is beautiful - floor to ceiling windows, cute patio area... It's giving modern and chic while while also being comfy and casual. I was very impressed by both the food and the drinks. They offer a wide array of drinks: coffee, cocktails, boozy coffee... all were really well-done. Many of the cocktails were refreshing and well balanced. The cafe drinks were all really solid and the boozy coffee drinks... even better. The brunch menu had many classic items such as chicken and waffles, omelets, avocado toast, etc. I personally went with the the deluxe chicken and waffles. The menu mentions that the dish comes with mac n' cheese, but I didn't see any when I got my plate. I was taken by surprise to see that the mac n cheese was inside the chicken and waffles. So just a head up for those of yall getting this dish lol. I wasn't too sure if I'd like it, but it turned out to be absolutely amazing. I came during HRW on a Sunday evening. Service was spectacular because we were the only ones in the building so it felt like we rented out the place. Food was very decent. Started off with the crab cake, the hines pork osso bucco as my main (huge portion), and ended with the tres leches. Low rating because I've had way better tres leches. We loved everything about our pre-theatre dinner and were shocked it was so empty on a Friday night. We suspect it's due to the street construction (my friends had trouble finding the entrance, because they assumed they couldn't walk down that section of the street.) Both of my friends cleaned their plates, and my friend who had the Osso Bucco said it truly exceeded her expectations. All of the food was delicious, and we enjoyed the cocktails, as well. Even the service shone. Our server (I don't recall her name, but she is from Turkey) went above and beyond to make our evening perfect, and when we left, we actually felt like we made a new friend! Cellar 7 was great for our small group dinner. The restaurant is stylish yet has a casual ambiance. We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival. The menu has a good variety of dinner options so we tried a few of the appetizers as a group. The calamari and Brussels sprouts were my favorite items. For my meal, I had a the Braised Beef Short Rib Pappardelle pasta that was pretty tasty, recommended by our server. The dining experience yesterday was thoroughly disappointing. My advisee and I chose Cellar 7 as a nicer lunch location to celebrate his recent promotion. When we walked in around 11am, the place was empty and we were met with a strong chemical smell, similar to those usually found after a janitor cleaned a public bathroom. Seeing as we were the first customers and they likely just opened the place for lunch, we decided to sit considering the smell was hopefully temporary. Wrong we were, the smell persisted through almost our entire hour long lunch. Minutes after we sat down, we placed our order and started chatting. Little did we realize, it took an entire half hour for our food to arrive. Given that this is located in central downtown and most people during workdays come for business lunches, I would have hoped for a faster kitchen to table turnaround, at least for the appetizers. Surprisingly, they decided to serve the food items all at once instead of the typical spacing expected between apps and entrees. When the food finally arrived, I was impressed by the presentation but disappointed again by the taste. The staff had recommended their Kobe burger and truffle fries as a hot combo on the menu, but the burger that arrived tasted dry, had no flavors, and a rather unappealing after taste. I am usually not a harsh critic when it comes to burgers, but I almost worry that the ingredients used were somewhat spoiled. Lastly, when the time came for the check. I requested the check and was planning to treat my advisee to the lunch, but the server kept giving the check and the final tip sheet both times to my advisee. I can't help but assume that the server saw the two of us, similar in age, one male and one female and made the presumption that the male was in charge of paying for the business lunch, which is a very disrespectful move in the business world. Not only did it embarrass me, but also put my advisee in a very awkward position because he was three levels my junior. I would suggest for the servers to be trained to respect all business relationships and place the check on a neutral side of the table if unsure who was responsible for the payment instead of shoving the check and returning my card with my name on it (an obvious female name) directly to my male counterpart. With all the above said, I would not disagree that the ambiance of the place is well suited for a business lunch, and the menu item that my advisee ordered, he was very pleased with in portion size and taste. However, I do not plan on returning to this place any time in the near future, until it has had some time to possibly improve in food quality and service. read more

We made a reservation for 12couples, 24 people several days before our reservation on 05/14/26. When we arrived, the restaurant only had 2 other tables busy. The staff there told us they we short handed and they could handle us if we would be patient, as it would take longer with just 1 waitress and 1 other staff member assisting her. It was approximately 50 minutes before our orders were taken. In the meantime, they brought out sodas by the handful and passed them out to us. Another 55 minutes, our orders were slowly, one by one brought to the table. We were very hungry at that time. We ate, were given our tickets. First, we noticed extra charges and fees on our receipts. Second,,We also noticed that we were charged back for the $6.00 that the restaurant had given us to validate parking tickets. Third we were charged 20% tip in the body of the receipt and requested another 20% tip at the bottom of the receipt. . Fourth, the service was very slow and some of the meals were delivered cold and inedible and we requested refunds. The food was not seasoned very well, my and my husband's food was not seasoned at all. There were no seasonings on the table at all.,Overall the experience was really bad and our group of 20 people decided we wouldn't return and our reviews would reflect how our experience was. To think we were two seconds away from going to a chain restaurant to have a sandwich! Best pivot ever!!! The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown so it's likely you will pay to park! But we paid less than $5 for an hour and a half! We walked in and was greeted by Sam at the bar and we stayed at the bar eating, drinking and conversing the entire time! Sam was so knowledgeable about not only three drink menu but the food menu as well! She made suggestions and answered any questions we had! The food did not disappoint! We started with the eggplant balls, gumbo, zucchini chips and artichoke dip! 3/4 received a 10/10. The obit one I didn't enjoy is the artichoke dip, which was more liquidy/soupy than I wanted and needed a tad bit more seasoning! But all other appetizers were perfect and I wouldn't change a thing! We also got the meat omelette which was also flavorful and delicious! The restaurant was so good, we came back for dinner and tried the seafood pasta and the porkchop! The place is on Main Street, it is very nicely decorated where you have a modern looking bar but intimate feel to the dining area. We ordered a gumbo and the local oysters as appetizers. The oysters were AMAZING! We were not expecting them to be cooked and to have different varieties for the preparation style. The gumbo was good but not great. For entrees we had their signature burger and their mahi mahi dish. The burger was great, the Brie and bacon flavour really added to it. The mahi mahi was also good with the pasta having delicious artichoke hearts and mushrooms with a hint of lime. Our only comment is that it does take a while for the food to come out or drinks. The ambiance was nice and light. It's a good spot for ladies night or date night. Our server Sena was very nice. I decided to try the oyster shot but it was not something I would try again. I love oysters but the smell was a bit off for me in the shot glass. The oysters were good. They reminded me of the kind I would get at the seafood boat restaurants. We tried a few drinks. The coco Manhattan was pretty strong, I had some help drinking that one. Vesper martini was good and the pinky pink. And it was good as well. Very good place downtown to try! I came with one other person on a Thursday evening around 6pm. There were not many other in the restaurant, at one point we were the only two people in the restaurant. By the time we left around 8:30 pm, there were only about 3-4 people sitting at the bar. We had a number of different cocktails, and all were very well made. My favorite was their French Connection cocktail. SO well made and really balanced. We only tried a few options but everything was good! We tried the crispy calamari, gumbo, and crab cake. The calamari batter was well seasoned, the crab cake has good pieces of lump crab meat. The only thing I would have changed was more rice to go along with the gumbo. I'd definitely recommend this place and plan to go back to try more! read more

It was Beyonce weekend and everything was super crowded with hours wait. We walked by Cellar on our way back from the original restaurant we planned to visit with very low expectations. There were two other parties in this restaurant. It was empty. We were slightly worried but our poor planning is what got us into this situation so we had to go with it. Well I am please to announce it was a great choice. I went out on a limb and had the Deluxe chicken and waffles. On the menu it is described as chicken and waffles with macaroni and cheese and a honey sriracha chicken. For some reason, the chicken drew my attention. I am happy to report it was GREAT. The portions are plentiful. Basically this was served like a sandwich. In the end, I didn't eat the waffle. It was good but the chicken and macaroni and cheese really were the stars. read more

Such a super cute/trendy spot with a great ambiance, randomly came in solo when I got caught in the rain and glad I did. Wasn't crowded at all, very clean and lively/friendly staff. My husband made a reservation here for date night prior to heading to Alley Theater for a show. It is a beautiful restaurant! I had the lavender martini which was gorgeous. I also ordered the maple glazed salmon with grilled squash and truffle mashed potatoes. I can honestly say this was the best dish I have had in a very long time. Delicious! I went for lunch on a cold Friday. The salad and brunch were spot on. The flavors of chicken, lemon, and greens were perfect. The restaurant was freezing- both me and my guest kept our outdoor jackets on at all times (assuming it was cold bc the outdoor temp was also freezing, not including in my rating). Service was a little lack luster- I saw our service person smoking their vape at the front of the restaurant. I don't care about this personally, but I did have problems that our tables drinks were empty while our service person was doing more personal things. This place was perfect for a date night ahead of an event at Minute Maid Park. Use the Binz garage on Texas & Fannin, very short walk over to this restaurant, and then an easy walk straight down to the venue with plenty of bike-taxi options in case you lost track of time. Cellar 7 had the perfect vibe. The entire front of the restaurant is glass with a sophisticated view of Main St. It's kind of relaxed upscale with a full bar and some very creative cocktails on the menu. Our waitress was wonderful, and several other members of the staff checked how our dinner was going several times. I really enjoyed the Mahi Mahi that I ordered and everyone else's food looked pretty enticing as well. They weren't as busy as the restaurants nearer to the venue, but they should be! They offer to validate parking which is a big plus! The ambiance was nice, although the music seemed to not match the vibe. The Kobe burger was dry and pretty unimpressive but the truffle fries were definitely fresh cut and very delicious. From my experience on 9/18/2024, the only thing good about this restaurant is, it looked like it had a nice bar area. We had spent the day at the Medical Center and we were starved, so you would think anything would taste good.... NOT SO! I ordered the snapper, it was drier than a bone. I actually had to use a knife to cut it, it tasted like warmed up, left over fish sticks. My husband ordered the rotisserie chicken with the truffle mashed potatoes, I took a bite, but honestly, the snapper was better. Worst birthday dinner ever. I booked my reservation here because the surrounding restaurants were full. Now I know why it's so empty. Food- The food is horrible! One of my guests bit into her crab cake and it was still cold in the middle. The pork chop tasted like cardboard and the braised beef tasted like it was microwaved. All the dishes lacked any substantial taste or seasoning. Service- We were one of the only tables and the service was still terrible. Our party was a large one, so the waiter's gratuity was added to checks. It showed in his attitude and most of the time we had to have someone go find him. He constantly forgot things and never put in the order for several of our items. His response was, "My bad." So unprofessional. The ambiance - This was the only thing they got right. I'll never EVER go here again but at least it was pretty. My birthday dinner was completely ruined. Nothing I had to eat or drink here was especially wonderful although I admittedly didn't try a lot. I think the main reason to come here is because you love the ambiance. Seems like a great place to have an event like a birthday party of some sorts. It's decorated with some lovely chandeliers and has ample bar space. Parking is just downtown parking. Find a place to park on the street for free (if after 6p or on Sundays) or just park in one of the nearby garages. If you come on a slow night it could be even as low as $5.
