We loved everything about our pre-theatre dinner and were shocked it was so empty on a Friday night. We suspect it's due to the street construction (my friends had trouble finding the entrance, because they assumed they couldn't walk down that section of the street.) Both of my friends cleaned their plates, and my friend who had the Osso Bucco said it truly exceeded her expectations. All of the food was delicious, and we enjoyed the cocktails, as well. Even the service shone. Our server (I don't recall her name, but she is from Turkey) went above and beyond to make our evening perfect, and when we left, we actually felt like we made a new friend! The bartender was awesome as well, even checking on us during the meal. Decor and aesthetic was also spot-on, with its elegant industrial vibe and fresh, urban atmosphere. Beautiful. I can't say enough great things about Cellar 7, and we look forward to future visits.
Went here for a work lunch. The service was great and fast for lunch. Located in walking distance to many offices and downtown attractions. The salad was a good size portion and flavorful. The salmon was cooked perfectly with crispy skin. It was a colleague's birthday and they gave them a complimentary dessert. They have happy hour and dinner as well.
I love coming on Friday nights. All the games are free! Great way to enjoy games and drinks without kids. Bartenders are always chill and make good drinks or give great service. Places is causal and laid back. Super loud but it's a bar with games, music and big groups.
Cellar 7 was great for our small group dinner. The restaurant is stylish yet has a casual ambiance. We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival. The menu has a good variety of dinner options so we tried a few of the appetizers as a group. The calamari and Brussels sprouts were my favorite items. For my meal, I had a the Braised Beef Short Rib Pappardelle pasta that was pretty tasty, recommended by our server. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend for a casual dinner in downtown Houston area.
Delicious! Great service and yummy food. The vibe is nice too, cool and calm, great for friends or a date. And i got a Japanese old fashioned. It's good! Would have preferred the single ice cube but it was still nice.
The dining experience yesterday was thoroughly disappointing. My advisee and I chose Cellar 7 as a nicer lunch location to celebrate his recent promotion. When we walked in around 11am, the place was empty and we were met with a strong chemical smell, similar to those usually found after a janitor cleaned a public bathroom. Seeing as we were the first customers and they likely just opened the place for lunch, we decided to sit considering the smell was hopefully temporary. Wrong we were, the smell persisted through almost our entire hour long lunch. Minutes after we sat down, we placed our order and started chatting. Little did we realize, it took an entire half hour for our food to arrive. Given that this is located in central downtown and most people during workdays come for business lunches, I would have hoped for a faster kitchen to table turnaround, at least for the appetizers. Surprisingly, they decided to serve the food items all at once instead of the typical spacing expected between apps and entrees. When the food finally arrived, I was impressed by the presentation but disappointed again by the taste. The staff had recommended their Kobe burger and truffle fries as a hot combo on the menu, but the burger that arrived tasted dry, had no flavors, and a rather unappealing after taste. I am usually not a harsh critic when it comes to burgers, but I almost worry that the ingredients used were somewhat spoiled. Lastly, when the time came for the check. I requested the check and was planning to treat my advisee to the lunch, but the server kept giving the check and the final tip sheet both times to my advisee. I can't help but assume that the server saw the two of us, similar in age, one male and one female and made the presumption that the male was in charge of paying for the business lunch, which is a very disrespectful move in the business world. Not only did it embarrass me, but also put my advisee in a very awkward position because he was three levels my junior. I would suggest for the servers to be trained to respect all business relationships and place the check on a neutral side of the table if unsure who was responsible for the payment instead of shoving the check and returning my card with my name on it (an obvious female name) directly to my male counterpart. With all the above said, I would not disagree that the ambiance of the place is well suited for a business lunch, and the menu item that my advisee ordered, he was very pleased with in portion size and taste. However, I do not plan on returning to this place any time in the near future, until it has had some time to possibly improve in food quality and service.
To think we were two seconds away from going to a chain restaurant to have a sandwich! Best pivot ever!!! The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown so it's likely you will pay to park! But we paid less than $5 for an hour and a half! We walked in and was greeted by Sam at the bar and we stayed at the bar eating, drinking and conversing the entire time! Sam was so knowledgeable about not only three drink menu but the food menu as well! She made suggestions and answered any questions we had! The food did not disappoint! We started with the eggplant balls, gumbo, zucchini chips and artichoke dip! 3/4 received a 10/10. The obit one I didn't enjoy is the artichoke dip, which was more liquidy/soupy than I wanted and needed a tad bit more seasoning! But all other appetizers were perfect and I wouldn't change a thing! We also got the meat omelette which was also flavorful and delicious! The restaurant was so good, we came back for dinner and tried the seafood pasta and the porkchop! The porkchop takes 30 minutes to prepare but the time flew by and was every minute of the wait! Also it was very elegant and yet still comfortably inside! There was plenty of space for large parties! Please go support and Ask for Sam if sitting at the bar, she's Amazing!!!!!
The place is on Main Street, it is very nicely decorated where you have a modern looking bar but intimate feel to the dining area. We ordered a gumbo and the local oysters as appetizers. The oysters were AMAZING! We were not expecting them to be cooked and to have different varieties for the preparation style. The gumbo was good but not great. For entrees we had their signature burger and their mahi mahi dish. The burger was great, the Brie and bacon flavour really added to it. The mahi mahi was also good with the pasta having delicious artichoke hearts and mushrooms with a hint of lime. Our only comment is that it does take a while for the food to come out or drinks. The quality of the food is totally worth waiting for.
The drinks were super strong but pretty good. The food was just okay. The restaurant was a little expensive for what we got. The service was definitely the best part of the whole experience. The waiter was super helpful with menu options and made sure we always had everything we needed. The ambiance was very swanky and up and coming. Overall this was an okay experience.
The ambiance was nice and light. It's a good spot for ladies night or date night. Our server Sena was very nice. I decided to try the oyster shot but it was not something I would try again. I love oysters but the smell was a bit off for me in the shot glass. The oysters were good. They reminded me of the kind I would get at the seafood boat restaurants. We tried a few drinks. The coco Manhattan was pretty strong, I had some help drinking that one. Vesper martini was good and the pinky pink. And it was good as well. For the appetizer we tried the calamari and octopus which I enjoyed. Our main meal I got the lamb chops with risotto and a side of Brussel sprouts. It tasted fine. The lamb chops were okay. I got medium rare and it tasted alright in a room temperature kind of way. I couldn't quite put my finger on it how to describe it. Overall it was a decent place.
The service was prompt, but not memorable. Our server failed to speak about the restaurant and what makes it unique. They gave us the bare bone service. The seafood paella was hardly touched by our party as it tasted fishy. It makes you wonder if the restaurant has quality control issues with sourcing fresh ingredients or it's a handling issue. I've never had a dry tres leches cake before. On the plus side the decorations are nice. Maybe come for a bottled beverage?
Very good place downtown to try! I came with one other person on a Thursday evening around 6pm. There were not many other in the restaurant, at one point we were the only two people in the restaurant. By the time we left around 8:30 pm, there were only about 3-4 people sitting at the bar. We had a number of different cocktails, and all were very well made. My favorite was their French Connection cocktail. SO well made and really balanced. We only tried a few options but everything was good! We tried the crispy calamari, gumbo, and crab cake. The calamari batter was well seasoned, the crab cake has good pieces of lump crab meat. The only thing I would have changed was more rice to go along with the gumbo. I'd definitely recommend this place and plan to go back to try more!
It was Beyonce weekend and everything was super crowded with hours wait. We walked by Cellar on our way back from the original restaurant we planned to visit with very low expectations. There were two other parties in this restaurant. It was empty. We were slightly worried but our poor planning is what got us into this situation so we had to go with it. Well I am please to announce it was a great choice. I went out on a limb and had the Deluxe chicken and waffles. On the menu it is described as chicken and waffles with macaroni and cheese and a honey sriracha chicken. For some reason, the chicken drew my attention. I am happy to report it was GREAT. The portions are plentiful. Basically this was served like a sandwich. In the end, I didn't eat the waffle. It was good but the chicken and macaroni and cheese really were the stars.
Cellar 7 is a cute place located in the heart of downtown. I can tell it has a nice vibe be at night. They have a large selection when it comes to food & a lovely bar area. I ordered the Bruschetta Board with (1) prosciutto-fontina-fig jam, (2) sweet spicy jam & goat cheese, (3) mozzarella, bacon, arugula, & tomato, (4) smoked salmon, pesto, & capers. I enjoyed all 4. The happy hour usually starts at 3p & sometimes that's when the bartender arrives. The server was great; however, initially he stated he couldn't make any drinks before deciding to make mine. read more
Perfect Place for brunch! My friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday, so we opted to do Sunday Morning Brunch. The ambiance is beautiful - floor to ceiling windows, cute patio area... It's giving modern and chic while while also being comfy and casual. I was very impressed by both the food and the drinks. They offer a wide array of drinks: coffee, cocktails, boozy coffee... all were really well-done. Many of the cocktails were refreshing and well balanced. The cafe drinks were all really solid and the boozy coffee drinks... even better. The brunch menu had many classic items such as chicken and waffles, omelets, avocado toast, etc. I personally went with the the deluxe chicken and waffles. The menu mentions that the dish comes with mac n' cheese, but I didn't see any when I got my plate. I was taken by surprise to see that the mac n cheese was inside the chicken and waffles. So just a head up for those of yall getting this dish lol. I wasn't too sure if I'd like it, but it turned out to be absolutely amazing. Despite it's appearance, it wasn't super heavy like you'd expect. The service was a little bit slow to start, but as the meal went on everything started coming out quickly and our server did a great job of managing our party. read more
I came during HRW on a Sunday evening. Service was spectacular because we were the only ones in the building so it felt like we rented out the place. Food was very decent. Started off with the crab cake, the hines pork osso bucco as my main (huge portion), and ended with the tres leches. Low rating because I've had way better tres leches. I still want to give this place a chance but maybe for brunch and definitely will NOT getting the tres leches. read more

We popped into Cellar 7 real quick as we waited for our Uber back home. Since we had to wait, we sat at the bar and ordered a lemon drop shot. The bartender was nice and added a little something special to the shot which made it really good. I'd definitely come back here to grab a bite and a drink because it had a nice ambiance and it wasn't crowded. read more
AMAZING FOOD! I would go back here for the salmon and Bruschetta on a regular basis if I lived there. Highly recommend! I would not recommend the lamb if you are hungry. It was a small portion and expensive, but still delicious. read more
Such a super cute/trendy spot with a great ambiance, randomly came in solo when I got caught in the rain and glad I did. Wasn't crowded at all, very clean and lively/friendly staff. I Had truffle fries, an oyster shot, adult raspberry lemonade, along with an amazing cocktail crafted by my bartender James named "California dream" (which needs to be added to the menu asap) it was so good! Ended the night with a shot "Mexican candy" so satisfied definitely will be back! read more

I would really like to see this restaurant be successful, but I wasn't in love with the food. The wine selection was decent, and the cocktail list seemed nice although we just got wine. They offer to validate parking which is a big plus! The ambiance was nice, although the music seemed to not match the vibe. It was also pretty loud for an empty dining room and just seemed out of place. The bruschetta board was actually a big serving. They didn't wow me, but it was good. The Kobe burger was dry and pretty unimpressive but the truffle fries were definitely fresh cut and very delicious. The Parmesan crusted pasta was a recommendation from our server and I thought the pasta sauce itself lacked flavor. There was a ton of noodles and very little sauce. The crusted chicken was tasty and crispy but needed salt and pepper. The crème brûlée was good! Our server was Josh and he was awesome. Very attentive, pleasant, polite, and offered us dessert on the house. read more

We stopped here for a quick drink before a show and it turned into such a fun time with our bartender. The charcuterie is all we had and it was good but the drinks were the highlight. The restaurant is cozy and nestled in the heart of downtown with very reasonable prices. If I'm ever in the area again I would not hesitate to stop here. read more

Nothing I had to eat or drink here was especially wonderful although I admittedly didn't try a lot. I think the main reason to come here is because you love the ambiance. Seems like a great place to have an event like a birthday party of some sorts. It's decorated with some lovely chandeliers and has ample bar space. Parking is just downtown parking. Find a place to park on the street for free (if after 6p or on Sundays) or just park in one of the nearby garages. If you come on a slow night it could be even as low as $5. Nathan is the real MVP here. He brought us 6 spoons for 3 people. You'll never have a dearth of utensils at this establishment apparently. Excellent friendly service. read more

Happy hour 4-7 pm Damn.. missed it by a hair but I still wanted to try some bites. So it's small cozy, and right next to another place. They share a kitchen. Doors open so you can see the other place. Calamari -served with some lettuce under neath so you feel healthy hehehe. Jk, it compliments the calamari. It's served with marinara that's pretty tasty. I would say.. it's dam good! I pretty much wiped out the plate. Leaving crumbs behind. Batter isn't too salty but enough to get those creative flavors flowing. Oysters -blue point, on a bed of ice, it's pretty good. I didn't get sick after .. it's a go in my book! Oyster shots -I didn't stir, but daaaaaamnnnn... it taste just like how it looks! Strong taste of vodka, followed by the Bloody Mary Light buzz at the end. Rosemary wings -crispy I like, didn't taste any rosemary, it taste like naked battered wings. Some may like it, for me I would prefer some sauces to be offered with it. Comes in 6, so I highly recommend you order like 3-4 orders of 6. They're not hooters big, more like wing stop size. Drinks -yaaaassss! Don't we all need it! Jansen, the bartender mixed me a spicy margarita with jalepeno. I know I'm a little difficult because I have some special requests, he pretty much made sure everything was alright with every sip! Y'all Show Jansen some love when y'all go! When it's time to pay, they have this tin can box for your bill, so things don't get lost. Great experience! Would go again read more

arrived late to meet work friends for happy hour. the ladies were not given happy hour menu nor did they ask for one. when we checked out at 630, we realized it so asked about happy hour pricing + who I assume was manager bc there was no introduction applied $16 discount on tab. worst margarita I've had so opted for a sangria - wasn't good either. both drinks are usually hard to mess up no matter where you go. spinach dip was okay. brussel sprouts were good. wings were okay too. they don't validate parking. read more
