The good: the service! I usually order the Avocado Toast, the plate is good for the price. I have tried some other plates on the menu, with some inconsistencies. I would say it's a friendly environment with plenty of parking space, which it's always a plus for Downtown.

We were driving by on our way to another brunch spot and loved the diner vibe so decided to give it a go and glad we did. The service was great but the food was next level. We split the Salmon Omelette and a side of waffles. The salmon was seasoned-not dry and the rest of the omelette had delicious onions, bell peppers and cheese and was topped with Avacado. The potatoes were slightly crunchy and seasoned well. We also enjoyed the waffles and the butter was top notch. This is a cute hidden gem and I'm glad we found it!

Cute lil diner, reminds me of a train car. Plenty of parking outside. Friendly staff. I ordered a side French toast for 4.50 and it came with 4 pieces and sliced strawberries. My niece had the side pancake which comes with 2 for 4.50! Food was delish, made to order. Also had the cheesy grits which were thick but tasty. Overall I recommend this place for brunch. I'll have to come back and try their lunch/ dinner menu. Oh BTW they have brunch cocktails also until 3!

Came here for Father's Day brunch and this was a cute diner. I love the feel of the old school diner and the service was great! We were greeted immediately and were seated immediately. The waiter was attentive and the menu options were plenty. Our food came out hot and tasty. I would absolutely return when in the area. The diner may seem small but there is outside seating as well. Parking can be limited but we had no issues finding a spot.

    Blackened Mahi Mahi Salad

Came here for lunch with some friends on a week day. It was a bit sad how dead it was since a lot of people work from home now. After browsing the rather extensive menu, I ordered the mahi mahi salad which is served on a bed of greens with jicama added. Asked the waitress for some shredded cheese because I love cheese in a salad, which the server happily obliged. The mahi was cooked very well, and the lemon vinaigrette complimented the salad nicely. It was a bummer to see how dead it was during lunch, but I'm not terribly surprised given the new norm of working from home that has affected this area's businesses.

The food here is amazing, and the staff is equally impressive! Sena and the Manager, Thomas, provide exceptional hospitality and service. I highly recommend this place to friends and family.

The place is located next to around the corner and across the street from the graffiti warehouse. Upon entry you will notice the menu plastered along the wall. You walk up to the counter, place your order , and then are given a number. I got the chicken and waffle with a side of bacon and eggs. The food was great and the place was quiet. A nice stop for a brunch on the weekend.

Food 10/10 (I got the chicken chipotle meal). Vibes are immaculate, good music and friendly staff. Will be back for sure, super cool spot

Peeps. You know I don't do bad reviews. I'll just say this. Here is what they call a $25 Salmon Kale Cesar Salad. In fact it is a bland, dry piece of salmon on top of a handful of Kale and two small containers of store bought Cesar salad dressing. Proceed with caution.

We had some business to take care of in downtown so walked over to this restaurant for lunch today. Patty Melt - 3/5 - I ordered the patty melt and my wife ordered the Kobe burger. Both pretty much tasted the same. The bread was too thick and not the traditional rye. The steak fried were just okay as well. Kobe Burger - 3/5 - Just ok. No vegetables at all to speak of (other than grilled onions). Again, thought the bun was too thick for size of hamburger patty and other fillings. My wife "upgraded" to the truffle parmesan fries. Seemed like just the regular fries with a few drops of truffle oil and parmesan cheese powder sprinkled on top. Pancakes - 4/5 - Surprisingly the best dish of the meal which my daughter ordered. Food flavor, fluffy and perfectly cooked.

Honestly I would have never picked District 7 to eat but that's what happens when I put someone else (non-yelper) in charge to pick the place when I'm down for whatever. Typical diner look and feel, I mean unsuspecting cool spot but not bourgie enough for me...I'd pass right by it. That being said the service was really good, they greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. I chose a table outside and didn't wait long for service. I ordered a frozen peach bellini large, but really I didn't think it was that big so idk what the regular looks like. The taste was good. My companion ordered the bloody mary, I think she liked that nasty a-- drink enough lol how do ppl drink this! Lol For entrees we ordered from the lite bites menu which are just smaller portions of selected regular menu offerings. I went with the paella. There's a bit of a wait for this dish but I was surprised it tasted fairly well. Not the best I've had but added a bit of Tabasco and I jived with it. It was raining so we stayed longer and after that half portion of food, I was still hungry so we ordered a side of steak fries. Came out super hot and fresh! Our server was pretty good, not overbearing but she did stay away a touch too long sometimes. Also, she properly dealt with another table that was complaining about the temp of their food so kudos to her. My likeliness to return ain't that high, even though a couple of those pasta dishes looks fiyah, but it's a cool spot.

Wooowww I can't believe this place! This was the best food we had and all of Houston. It is in a tiny, metal, unassuming little restaurant on the side of the road. It looks like nothing from the outside, but when you go inside, it is the friendliest people ever. The waiter came over and had a full conversation with us, and we did not feel imposing or anything. While he was talking to us other people helps the other tables. They all worked together and all of the diners were having a great time. It's a very friendly place and the food is absolutely outstanding. We made substitutions and asked questions and they were very accommodating and helpful. We had a crab cake, chicken and waffles, and pancakes. They don't have a liquor license but they have a bunch of different drinks so we have a peach mimosa, Bellini, Moscow mule, and some other drinks. Absolutely terrific and I hope they stay this way.

    Delicious Brussel Sprouts Almondine! Excellent!

Totally recommend this place. I'm in Houston for a short business trip and the hotel I'm staying at recommended it. It was a short 1/2 mile away and worth the walk. It's a small and adorable rail car kinda diner, but without at crappy diner food. District 7 has a fun and unique twist on their food. There's plenty to choose from for breakfast, lunch, & dinner, and they even do brunch. I ordered the brussel sprouts almondine for an app and they were huge and super delicious! It totally made me re-think my dinner choice. Because I was dining alone and the app was so big, I needed a small protein. My server recommended a side of chicken and it was the perfect serving between the two. Service was top notch, excellent food and easily walkable in the downtown area. This place was definitely a win.

The dining room is chic and feels very upscale but comfortable with a large open fire kitchen that was really fun to watch while dining. All were great but I especially loved the carrots which were cooked and seasoned perfectly. For my main course I had the chicken and dumplings, husband got the NY strip, our friends shared the whole fish and we had the cabbage and crab rice as sides. Everyone was very happy with both their main courses and the side dishes. Between me and hubs, we had a Pan de campo, an order of Gulf Oysters "casino", (4) dressed oysters, a 16 oz dry aged ribeye, a snapper entree and a side of crab fried rice. We finished almost everything except a quarter of the Pan, about a quarter of the rice, and about a third of the ribeye. All were great dishes and would definitely order again. We skipped dessert because honestly none stood out to us. He said their popular dessert is the souffle but they were sold out. Our total before gratuity was about $250 and that included one cocktail. Hubs had their "classic" old fashioned which he said was excellent! Overall, highly recommended if you don't mind the splurge or for a special occasion!

He ended up being one of the best aspects of our experience that evening. Our waitress wasn't nearly as good. We started by asking for ice in the water from the waitress since they just give you room temp water. After 10 mins of seeing her serve other tables and ignoring our request, we then figured the water boy would make it happen...and sure enough he did. We then ordered the grilled oysters, which are very lightly cooked, almost seemingly steamed more than anything, but they were very good regardless of the cooking method with the sauces and garnishes and pickle juice added. Next up was ordering the entrees. The menu here is a little strange with numerous vegan choices with strange titles and only a few items with protein. To top it off, there are not many choices period. The waitress explained that the left side is basically the apps, and the right side is basically the entrees. I knew I wanted to try the wagyu flat iron steak which is priced pretty high here, compared to other wagyu flat irons I've had at other restaurants across the US. We couldn't really decide on a 2nd main dish then the waitress mentioned the off the menu special which was a scallop pasta so we picked that thinking it sounded delicious. The entrees come out about 15 mins later, and we take our first bites and we both thought, oh no, if we share the other person across from me isn't going to like this dish because it's too salty. I tried the steak first and noticed the sauce being extra salty, then I tried the pasta and the pasta was way worse, but the scallops didn't seem to be affected. We immediately told the waitress the next time she stopped by....and she just said okay, and walked away. I figured she would go get the manager....but nope...she just kept on serving other tables. At this point we thought to ourselves only the oyster app was decent.....and no reason to look at the dessert menu since we had already spent over $100 on food we could hardly eat. Sure enough, the waitress stops by a 2nd time and asks if we'd like to see the dessert menu. I couldn't leave fast enough and told her we'll skip. Needless to say we both left hungry as the portions were not only not edible, but also fairly small. The water boy also stopped by and offered to turn on the heater if we get cold. Boy, I wish he was our waiter instead. For a supposedly Michelin-starred restaurant, I feel they really got this one wrong.

Food: - Chicken liver pate: 10/10 SOOOO good! The bread that comes with it is amazing too. There is some sweet jam that is paired with it also. The sauce that they put it on pairs so well with it and really makes the dish. Must try even if you think you don't like leeks. - Venison tartare: my husband loves tartare and mustard so he loved this dish. I despise mustard and am lukewarm on tartare. The mustard taste was so strong. I hated this dish but I'm also not a good critic for it, so no rating from me. - Pappardelle: 7/10 Simple and classic. Not worth getting on your first visit but a nice dish on its own. - Butternut squash: 8/10 I can't remember much about this dish except that I enjoyed it :) - Pork collar Milanese: 9/10 Like a much better version of a schnitzel - Dumplings: 9/10 Just read the description on the menu and you know it's gonna be good. If you don't think we're ordering enough food, it'd be nice to be informed that the portions are small if you're concerned about us being unsatisfied. As our plates came out, they were served with a perfunctory description of what we ordered and nothing else was said before they rushed off to be somewhere else. We don't expect to be doted on, but the overall vibe was standoffish on a quiet morning. Given they prefer full orders up front for pacing purposes, and our server was enforcing cups on coasters, we thought it was odd that our plates weren't refreshed between courses. I don't mind reusing the jam and butter covered plate to eat my polenta, but it conflicted with what the restaurant is trying to project. Overall, food was good, service was weird.
