This place is in a somewhat empty shopping center, and I am saddened that more people weren't at this place on a Saturday night. They had live music on, and from the looks of it if you want to be a part of the show you can as they also have karaoke it looks like. The gentleman that greeted us was so nice and made us feel so welcomed! It wasn't one of those "oh I have to be nice to these guests because I'm getting paid" type people, you could really tell his niceness was genuine. I felt like I was at a fine dining restaurant. Our server was also very nice, and super helpful as I asked for a wine suggestion and she hit the nail with her suggestion. She brought a small sample for me to try before serving it. The food itself was delicious! We got the onion rings appetizer, and you could tell they were made to order. They were super fresh and also crispy. The chicken parmigiana was good, and they were not stingy with their portions at all. The picture I took doesn't do the dish justice. OK, so this turned out to be a surprisingly good meal and much better than we had expected. We drove into the mostly defunct strip mall, found the restaurant down on the corner, walked in and sat down and then perused the menu in depth. We shared a bowl of the potato soup where we had no expectations and I thought it tasted pretty decent. But the real test was the entrees. Mr. Picky ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp while I opted for Veal Parmigiana, and we each stole a bite from the other's plate. We reached consensus immediately that both dishes were well-seasoned and quite delicious, meaning we would return for more good food in the future. Seriously, we hadn't expected much when walking in and looking around, but were pleasantly surprised at the kitchen's efforts. We finished lunch with an order of homemade bread pudding and tiramisu, the latter of which in 2012 won a chamber of commerce epicurean competition 1st place ribbon. I wasn't there to judge that competition and have had better, but sincerely appreciated the moistness of the bread pudding. While the majority of diners were older and a more mature crowd, there's a lot to be said for value, and we thought the menu price was better than reasonable and I think a lot of people will discover this as a value destination, something we all appreciate. read more

I had dinner here last week for the first time in several years. My memory of that visit was an ok meal but obviously it didn't prompt me to return any sooner. It's easy to miss this place as it's tucked away far from FM 1960 in a large strip center but it does at least have a sign on that road. When I arrived, I discovered quickly that it was Karaoke night which would begin soon. After being seated and presented the menu, I decided to order the Pollo Piccata ($13.95) that came with a choice of soup or salad and I chose the seafood gumbo and the gumbo arrived about 5 minutes later. The small bowl had sausage, chicken and shrimp in it along with a good tasting roux and I graded it at a 3.5. Later the entree arrived consisting of 2 boneless breasts with mushrooms and capers in a lemon butter sauce along with some fried potatoes on the side. Everything on the plate was acceptable in taste but probably not a dish that I would reorder instead of trying something else on the menu (3). Kind of what I remembered from my visit years ago. Table service was good. I realize that Clementine's has been here for many years and therefore must have a clientele that supports it. However, my experience doesn't make me want to beat a path here to return anytime soon because there are other similar type of restaurants that do. So I will give a 3 overall but doubt of a timely revisit. read more

Unique gem hidden away in a dull looking strip center. The inside decor is surprising and amazingly has the feel of New Orleans. The food is all freshly prepared, breakfast eggs taste like fresh yard eggs from a farm. Grits are the quality of old fashioned grits. None of the mealy instant 5 minutes grits at Clementines! Croissant grilled toast is to die for! It is so refreshing to dine at a restaurant with home cooked fresh food. I stopped in for dinner tonight but I must tell you I was disappointed in both service and food quality. To begin, I ordered sweet tea. It was old and had a rancid sour taste. I ordered chicken fried chicken and was served chicken fried steak. The menu said it was served with a choice of soup or salad, potatoes, and vegetables. The potato soup was delicious but the entree came with two scoops of potatoes and no vegetables. I inquired about this and was told I got potatoes so I didn't get vegetables. I told the server I received the wrong entree, he took my plate. When it was returned, the same mashed potatoes were on the plate but they were upside down. He asked if I wanted my gravy reheated, but it was not refreshed. He never apologized for the mistake and then I was charged for the chicken fried steak and not the chicken fried chicken. Ok, I've tried this spot multiple times, it actually always turned out DECENT, only because I had to doctor up whatever I ordered, but TODAY I couldn't do that. I ordered the club, took over 25 mins to receive a sandwich and I was the only person in the seating area. So I stayed, and once my food arrived the sandwich was beautiful in presentation but the taste was horrible!!! The cheese wasn't even melted and the bread was previously frozen and you can taste that. The servers were nice, and friendly but I guess due to Covid the food has went down a peg or two. read more

I'm an ugly strip mall you can find this local favorite restaurant with decor that brings you back to the 80s. The chef/owner came by and spoke to us about the menu, making suggestions and customized the dishes for all at the table. While the food was good, the atmosphere was entertaining. Someone playing piano and songs from the 70s allowed an older couple to enjoy a dance. Our table had 50 year olds and we were definitely the youngest people in the room. Drinks were fine, food was good, and staff was pleasant. Worth a shot, but it's not a destination. read more

I am very disappointed about mine and my friends visit today. We weren't very hungry, so we decided to split a meal. They charged us an extra $4.95 for the salad that came with the meal because she said they had to put in extra stuff. The salad had the same amount of stuff 1 salad would have. They also charged us $ 3.50 to split the plate and didn't even tell us up front. This is so ridiculous and unacceptable. Although we did pay it, we will never go back. One disappointment was the lack of a drink/wine list. My companion asked for a drink recommendation but found out they didn't have it. Same for their 2nd choice and my 1st choice of wine. The location is right next to Party City and a liquor store, so it's not exactly one of the places where you immediately want to pull in, but they do have a pretty cute and classy outdoor area. The inside is incredibly cute and inviting. It has windows as if you are eating at cute little tables out on the street in New Orleans or An Italian restaurant in Soho (big bulb street lamp posts, twinkly lights, etc). It wasn't too chilly or too warm inside (this can make or break a restaurant experience for me!) and the ambiance was warm, pleasant and cozy. The menu had items including Cajun, Italian, American, Mexican, etc. which was pretty awesome. This would be a good place for a large group so there is something for everyone. What I ordered: -side of 2 pancakes with butter (9/10 for me. LOVED THEM! - boyfriend tried them with the syrup and said they tasted strange?) -plain bagel with cream cheese (10/10 for me. Sooooo good. Boyfriend like it too) What he ordered: -chicken fried steak (1/10 for him) (man he's brutal! Lol) - mash potatoes (7/10 for him. "They were good, but nothing exceptional.) Overall, we probably won't go back. They're sooo many restaurants to try that are like this, but I would say I enjoyed my experience there today. We also left only spending $20 (before tip). Oh boy, where to start. The service is actually really fantastic which is what prevented us from just saying 'gross' and walking away. Very attentive service. I assume the only reason this place is still open is because they have loyal friends who come back. The food is truly dreadful. I ordered the artichoke omelette which had hollandaise sauce. What I got was a grayish green color, with randomly melted cheddar cheese in the very middle and a thick, greasy cheese sauce on top. Because I'm not even sure I could describe it accurately, I attached a picture. I've honestly never had anything so bad in my entire life. You can taste that the kitchen is likely very greasy and not cleaned well, because even the toasted bagel I had tasted like it had been sitting in some old grease. The potatoes (while not cooked all the way) were at least seasoned well. It's completely obvious that their cook is not experienced or even good at the very basics. It's really too bad because with their service, if they had someone who knew what they were doing in the kitchen, I bet this place would be booming. We really wanted to like this place simply because of its friendliness, but the food is simply too awful. read more
