I finally made it to Grace's on Kirby and left with mixed feelings. The dining area is a little compact (not super small though) but it's not a quiet, romantic spot. The main highlight was the 5 star service by Eric! He's enough to make me want to go back! I'll definitely ask for him every time! 2nd highlight is that cornbread because whew...bussin. Pair it with the collard greens and that's a five-star combo all day. I was undecided on what to order, so I went with the cajun stuffed chicken exactly as it comes, along with mac & cheese and collard greens. The meal wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either. The chicken, I'd probably skip next time, I took most to go and it went bad cause I couldn't do it. Mac wasn't anything to write home about either but again, them greens and cornbread are absolutely getting reordered. My friend ordered the key lime pie and enjoyed it, so that seemed to be another solid choice. But back to the real MVP of the visit which was our server, Eric. He made menu suggestions without being pushy, kept my glass full the entire meal, was kind, patient, and anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask. That level of service is becoming harder to find, and it definitely elevated the experience. Overall, the food landed somewhere in the middle for me, but Eric's service easily pushed this visit to four stars. I'll definitely be back...mainly for that cornbread lol.

My friend recommended Grace's for our weekly eating out routine. This was my first time here. I searched on Google and found the price range. I thought it has to be a fancy restaurant to begin with. I forgot to check the menu. For being vegetarian, this restaurant is lacking dishes for me. Not a single vegan option on the menu, sad. Not sure why Yelp says there is. I ordered a large Caesar Salad. It came drenched with cheese. It looked ridiculous and tasted extremely salty. If I said no cheese, this dish would have been just a plate of romaine lettuce with 6 crotons. What a sad feeling. My friend ordered a stuffed chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens. He seemed enjoying it. The waiter was overly friendly and he kept pouring water into our glasses. He first warned us about the cornbread as second one will not be free. Heck. We barely touched it. It was too sweet for me and it has cheese. The crusty bottom seemed the only tasty part. Sigh. That was a no-go. The service was pretty good from entering to exiting. We came in pushing my friend on his wheelchair. Two employees already holding the doors open for us. Everyone was smiling and welcoming us. The hostess was a little overly enthusiastic. It kind of put me off. After reading the story and driving around to see the family restaurants, Mia's and Carrabba's, just around the corners. I think I'll be going to those restaurants next time.

Impeccable customer service. For that alone I would definitely come back. The food was not bad, but I wouldn't say it was great. Definitely had good items on the menu. The cornbread and fried green tomatoes were really good. Overall, good experience and it has a really nice relaxed, casual, but sophisticated vibe.

This is home cooking elevated while keeping true to its roots. I had pot roast with a twist, pork rather than the beef I'm accustomed to but it was so tender you didn't need a fork. Had a cup of gumbo too, just fabulous. Others at the table had fried chicken, chicken fried chicken, beef stroganoff and a variety of other dishes. Everyone left with smiles. Try the calamari too, nice crust and loved the sweet chili sauce. This is a nice setting to celebrate in.

"A Birthday Dinner Done Right: Flavor, Service, and Vibes at Grace's" October 25, 2025 I know this review is well overdue, but better late than never. What an amazing experience my family and I had at Grace's! It was everyone's first time dining here, and it absolutely won't be our last. My daughter, Tatyana, chose Grace's to celebrate her 26th birthday, and I must say, she picked a winner! I made reservations in advance, and we were seated right away when we arrived: no waiting and no hassle. Service was impeccable. Our server, Bradley, was professional, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. He handled our party of ten with "Grace" and ease: smooth, attentive, and never rushed. The ambiance was just as impressive as the service. The dim lighting and soft music created a relaxing vibe, and I especially appreciated that the music wasn't blaring. We could actually hear one another and enjoy the moment. The cuisine is full of flavor and beautifully executed, with a unique cultural blend of Italian, Creole, and American influences. I also appreciated the background provided on the menu about "Grace," which helps explain the restaurant's culinary identity: Sicilian roots with Louisiana influence. Whatever the magic is, it works. The food was hands down some of the best restaurant cuisine I've ever had. Everything was beautifully plated, elegant, and appetizing. Food ratings: Jimmy G's Seafood Platter- 5/5 The texture of the fish and the onion rings were crunchy and perfectly-fried. Complimentary Cast Iron Cornbread- 5/5 This dish tastes like the warm welcome you didn't know you needed. It arrived at our table in style, piping hot with that signature skillet-baked edge, golden and crisp, which made the first bite give that little crackle sound before turning soft. The inside was tender and fluffy, with a sweet buttery crumb that melts as soon as it hits your tongue. The flavor is classic Southern comfort. Shrimp Stuffed Poblano- 5/5 This dish hits you in layers: smoky, creamy, and bright all at once. The poblano itself has that gentle roasted char: a slightly earthy, green-pepper flavor with just a warm whisper of heat that builds slowly instead of punching you in the mouth. Fajita Steak Y Enchilada- 5/5 This dish tastes like pure Tex-Mex comfort with a "treat yourself" upgrade. The steak has a tender chew, not rubbery, and it's the kind of flavor that instantly makes you want to chase it with a bite of Spanish rice or a warm tortilla. The tortilla is soft and soaked just enough to be silky, not soggy, and the filling tastes hearty and satisfying. Smoked Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich- 5/5 This is not your average cheesesteak sandwich. It tastes like a classic comfort-food favorite that's been given a bold, smoky makeover. The first thing I noticed was that deep, slow-smoked flavor, warm and woodsy, which made the beef taste richer than a standard cheesesteak. It's almost like a softer, juicier brisket-meets-steak vibe going on. Les Allison's Shrimp Tacos- 5/5 This dish tastes like the perfect coastal-Texas combo of fresh, crispy, creamy, and bright, all stacked into a warm corn tortilla. The shrimp is the star: flaky and tender on the inside, with a lightly seasoned, savory flavor that doesn't overpower that clean "fresh-from-the-sea" taste. The outside has that golden crunch that shatters a little when you bite into it, crispy, not greasy, and then immediately surrenders to soft, juicy flakes. Baked Potato Dip- 5/5 This dish is an appetizer and tastes like a loaded baked potato turned into pure, scoopable comfort. The dip is creamy, buttery, and rich like whipped potatoes while possessing a warm and savory "straight-from-the-oven" flavor. The chips makes the experience even better: crisp, salty, and solid, with a loud crunch that contrasts the silky dip perfectly. The two together make this dish creamy, crunchy, salty, tangy, smoky, and cheesy. Frozen Margarita with Strawberry Swirl- 5/5 This drink tastes like a frosty, sun-soaked treat that still means business, if you know what I mean. It feels icy and smooth as it hits your tongue while sweet and tart at the same time. The liquor is blended in just right; you can taste it, so it feels like a real margarita, and not a slushy, but it's not harsh or overpowering. It gives the drink a warm little backbone that sneaks up gently and makes each sip feel balanced and grown. Overall, I truly have no complaints about this establishment. It is an amazing place. The only downside is the 50-minute drive; if they opened a location in Cypress, I'd be there all the time! Parking is plentiful with a parking garage next door. Dress code is medium-formal, not too dressy but not underdressed. I highly recommend this upscale, welcoming, relaxing establishment. You will not be disappointed.

I enjoy coming here! The service was great. The food was great! My drink was great. I did sit at the kitchen bar and that was an cool experience. I wouldn't typically sit there, but if you want to see what the kitchen does and would like to get in to eat, that's a perfect spot.

Went for my bday brunch on a Sunday with friends and family. Did a reservation on OpenTable and was only able to book the patio. The weather was good so it was ok. Actually, I'm happy we sat outside because the inside was so crowded and packed. Our server was really good, but they did forget our drink order- iced coffee and my sister mimosa. The shrimp and grits had good flavor with a small kick to it. The cornbread they give you at the beginning is very tasty! Everyone liked there food so no complaints. The place didn't wow me but it was pretty good.

The food is always amazing the fried chicken was very the yams were sweet but not overly sweet the greens were flavorful and the Mac and cheese creamy. The gumbo was ok. The drinks were good as well I enjoyed my French 75. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive but not overly attentive, we sat outside and the breeze was just right it was perfect weather to enjoy our food outside and see the atmosphere of the city.

Hello everyone! Today was an awesome day to enjoy eating outside. I started with an Old Fashion. Good flavor. Then I ordered a strawberry lemonade to go with the food. Taste like homemade lemonade. Now when the main meal came, the fried chicken was hot and seasoned. Everything on the plate was seasoned great flavor. I had a gumbo before the chicken and that was great. The Service was perfect! He gave me everything I wanted. Come and try for yourself!

The atmosphere is always nice here. We sat inside, came in around 9pm. We were seated at a table near the bar, that room can be a little noisy but nothing major. They stop seating people at 9:45pm. Our waiter was very friendly and polite. We ordered the Cajun stuffed chicken with Mac & cheese and Brussels sprouts. 10/10! Also, we ordered the grilled chicken, Mac and cheese, with candied yams. 10/10!! Everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I've never had a bad experience here. The drinks we ordered were Kirby Sidecars. You can't go wrong with those, they're strong and one does the trick!

Do they have chicken fried steak?

I don't recall seeing chicken fried steak on their menu. I don't believe they have it. You can always ask sometime a restaurant will special order it for you.

    Do they do separate check?

Yes they do have separate checks, Only time it's one check is when you reserve the party room

    Is your patio dog friendly?

Think I saw a sign that said service dogs only.

The service was 10/10, food was amaaaazing. We looked at other reviews before going and went with an app we didn't hear much about, but an entree that we did hear amazing things about. Appetizer: everyone talks about the dilly bread but honestly, the puff puff pass sounded better, esp the scotch bonnet aioli. 10/10 loved the flavors together, esp the fried bread with the aioli Entrees: we had the pork belly special and the nono's pasta. Everyone raves about the pasta and rightfully so. The noodles with the right amount of bolognese was such a flavorful comfort food. The pork belly was also delicious but the pasta hit better. Dessert: of course i had to get both! We got the famous olive oil cake and their banana rum cheesecake. We didnt taste much banana unfortunately but the cheesecake was tasty. Had a 5:30pm resy, seated outside right away that Saturday evening--it was a full house 45 minutes later. You'd be a fool to skip the dilly bread--a complete fool! The rolls are pillowy and warm. I could eat the butter by the pint. The fingerlinging potato dish is also a must have...pretty small for $19 but tastes like heaven. Spicy! Zaddy was being a bit of a clutz that evening and knocked over my $20 mezcal cocktail, so what does he do? Orders me another one! (That's why he's "zaddy") ....kind of wish he hadn't...so wasn't worth the price tag. Skip it. The chicken dinner was definitely the winner--fresh, juicy breast, crispy skin...don't be cute, you won't finish it unless your party has at least 4 in it! The flies were ruthless! Very annoying! They were acting like the geekers that come bother you just outside your favorite fried chicken joint in south Dallas! Our waitress brought out a table fan so that made the experience a little more tolerable. The chocolate peanut butter pie tasted like a salt rock and the lemon chiffon pie had great flavor but not lemony enough for me. All in all this place is a bit pricey but truly a gem! Until next time, Nobie!

The team behind the popular restaurant Nobie's opened up this tiki inspired restaurant. Tiki bars happen to be one of my favorite varieties of bars so I was more than excited to finally check it off my list. I had recently seen them on the Food Network as well. They share a lot with another popular dining spot so parking can be a little difficult in their lot. You can find street parking or park across the street in an overflow lot. Customer service was great from start to finish. We had just ate next door and our intentions were to come in here just for cocktails, but I couldn't leave without trying some of the popular items. I wanted the most tropical drink I could find on the menu so I started off with the Blue Hawaiian. I saw fire on the description so my extra self needed to have it. I'm a big rum guy so this drink was right up my alley and very boozy with two types of rum. It was very coconut forward with pineapple being the secondary flavor. One was enough for me to feel just right. Since we had just ate, we decided to share the World Famous Cheeseburger. This was a great burger. I don't know if they were going for the smash effect, but it had smash burger characteristics. It had all my favorite things that are musts on a burger like American cheese and red onions. It also had a very nice chili aioli that added great flavor to the burger. I came on another stop for a drink visit shortly after and tried the pork dumplings and popcorn chicken. These were also very good. If I lived in the area, this place would easily be a place I would frequent often. I will most definitely be back!

We had an amazing server, delicious drinks (a must try), and ok food. We ordered four drinks the painkilla, vamos à la playa, captains grog, and the Hemingway daiquiri. All were great drinks and we loved how they give you flavor characteristics of the drinks on the menu. The appetizers that we ordered were the sweet and sour cauliflower and the pork dumplings, which is why I gave this place four stars. The presentation of both appetizers were excellent. However, the pork dumplings were disappointing. They came with only six dumplings for $17, were served cold, and are very bland. In my opinion, they weren't worth the price. On the other hand, the sweet and sour cauliflower was our favorite and is definitely a must-try.

The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. For my entrée, I ordered the pesto bucatini. If I'm being honest, the food just didn't do it for me. The calamari was simply fried with no noticeable seasoning or standout dipping sauce. The pesto bucatini was pretty underwhelming too. It was very heavy on the mint with just a hint of pistachio crumbs, and the pesto flavor I was hoping for never really came through. Pesto pasta is usually one of my favorite dishes, but this one honestly felt like a waste of carbs. The positives were definitely the service and the atmosphere. The burger - very flavorful and well cooked, though I could probably do with just a smidge less butter on the bun and onions. Fries were crispy and well seasoned. Overall had a great experience here!

Recently she had an afternoon appointment and I was able to swing by and join her. When her appointments were completed, it was in the beginning of peak traffic time, so we decided to walk over to DS and have a bite to eat and catch up This space is so open as well as cozy. Soon as you enter, you head straight to the counter to order. From there, you're given a number and choose your seat. Booth and table options are available. On a Thursday afternoon, the place wasn't busy but not empty, which gave my Mom and I the opportunity to catch up without a noisy dining room. The food came out fresh and hot and for the price, we were surprised by the portion since its was the $10 HH burger and fries. The fountain drinks were interesring as well. DS does not have Coke or Pepsi products. They have similiar flavors you would find with those brands. I enjoyed the Mexican Coke. It seemed to not be as fizzy aa your own well know caffenated Compadres but still carried a great flavor. Let me not skip over the dessert! Mom LOVED the pecan pie which she states had whole pecans instead of pieces. I did not wven notice that she had been getting pieces of the pie as we talked. Half of it was gone when we left. That means is pretty scrumptous! I had enough willpower to eat my chocolate chip cookie when I got home and it was worth the wait! Not only is the cookie huge, but the semi sweet chocolate and sea salt is chef's kiss. Grat combo of both worlds. Combine that with the crunchy outisude and chewy, gooey interior and this is one of the best cookies I've tasted in a long time. So glad to dish all this goodness to Yelpers and remind them of another gem in West U that will not only give you a great place to get a bite but satisfy that sweet tooth.
