I had an amazing experience at Grace's!! I came here to celebrate my birthday last month with two friends from out of town who wanted to try southern food. The food, decor, and service here were amazing. We wanted to try this restaurant as we were looking to try the best corn bread in the area. The jalapeno corn bread that is served here was way better than I had expected. It was seasoned well and not dry at all! We ordered Chicken fried chicken and Cajun fried chicken to share. Both entrees were extremely good, but the sides unfortunately fell short. The collard greens were a tad bit too salty & the mac & cheese was a little bland for our liking. What an amazing experience my family and I had at Grace's! It was everyone's first time dining here, and it absolutely won't be our last. The atmosphere is always nice here. We sat inside, came in around 9pm. We were seated at a table near the bar, that room can be a little noisy but nothing major. They stop seating people at 9:45pm. Service: (10/10)- We had a team of 3 servers so 1 of them was always checking on us, filling water glasses, or removing finished plates. Soft, melt in your mouth & not too sweet with the bourbon carmel sauce. Sausage (9/10) - homemade, nice hint of garlic Chicken (8/10) & waffles - chicken wings were large, well seasoned with visible pepper flakes in the coating. The chicken was the star of the dish. The waffles (5/10) - were very ordinary & a bit dense. Our entire table (even the waffle lovers) said hands down the pancakes are superior. Eggs (8/10)- scrambled soft & actually well seasoned for eggs! Crab cake (8/10) - good amount of crab not filler, well balanced old bay seasoned. Tip: you can sub 1 pancake for the waffles in the chicken & waffle order. Note: the pancakes are a la carte so the eggs, bacon/sausage and potatoes are all separate at ~$6 or $7 each. Grace's has consistently provided highly quality meals for both brunch and dinner over several visits. The team of servers were outstanding with their check-ins without being a nuisance. All were very friendly and quick to respond to any requests. As always, Sunday brunch is a crowded affair but our reservation was honored immediately. Our group of six was very happy with our meals and each of us shared our dishes. I had the chicken and waffles and the chicken easily earned five stars. It has been a while since I last ate at Grace's. We made a reservation for 5, and were sat outside... Luckily it wasn't terribly hot today, but I do prefer being sat inside. Grace's does get pretty busy during lunch time. We started off with the baked potato dip. If you like chips and queso, you'll love this. I honestly think all restaurants should start serving potato chips with their dips instead of tortilla chips. Total game changer. We also had the sweet & sour calamari and shrimp. I was a bit skeptical when it first came out because of how it looked. I never had noodles with calamari before, but it paired so well with the sweet & sour sauce. I think this is one of the better calamari dishes I've had in Houston. I usually have the cornbread here, but didn't this time. I highly recommend trying it for your first time. As for my entree, I ordered the creole stuffed chicken. I didn't really care for the collard greens. I liked the mac & cheese, but I wish I had rice because the chicken dish is a bit too salty for my liking. I could only finish half of one of the pieces. There's plenty of crawfish. Overall, it's just a very heavy meal. I probably wouldn't order this for lunch again because I can't imagine anybody finishing it and completing any work after. I chugged my water lol. Dined in for Houston Restaurant Week and everything was great. Graces is a Houston staple located in the Kirby area. We waited about 15 minutes for a table after our reservation time. Our server- Lakayla was very sweet and informative. I ordered the stuffed chicken served with mac and cheese and greens. Entrees include a soup or salad so there is a great bang for your buck. Everything was amazing. The complimentary cornbread is warm and sweet. For the table, we split their frozen pomegranate mimosa pitcher- which gave us about three drinks a piece. Gratuity is already included in the final bill for all tables. While the restaurant was busy- it was not too loud and allowed space for conversation. I came to this restaurant for the first time on a Sunday, around 4:30pm for a drink before going to our second destination. We sat at the bar. The bar area was small and intimate. They had booth seating along the wall and a few tables between the bar and booths. There were tv's at the bar to watch sports. My friend and I only looked at the drink menu, but everyone's meals around us looked good. I ordered the frozen mimosa, which was orange juice and champagne. It was good and strong, but had a bitter after taste. My friend had the old fashioned and she said, "it was really good." This restaurant is definitely family friendly, spacious, and popular. I went for brunch after church and they absolutely did not disappoint. I had the fajita steak and eggs with a pancake on the side, and whew... I want it again right now. Everything was seasoned perfectly and so satisfying. Also, I'm no longer drinking, but I still love a little champagne moment, so I was really excited to see that they offer non-alcoholic / alcohol-removed champagne. I was still able to order a glass and feel like I was sipping on bubbles, which made the experience even better. Great food, great vibes, and thoughtful options for everyone. There is usually a wait for inside, but you may be seated faster if opting for the outside patio area. I'm a bit disappointed with the accessibility. In order for me to get to our table, I had to leave my walker and use my canes. ‍ Even with this, several patrons had to scoot up or move around for me to get through. For someone in a wheelchair would have a hard time. I'd suggest wait for edge seating which would be better. Outside of this, the food is really good. I enjoyed my entree, but got full quick. Nothing like a good old doggie bag. I'll have to return again to review the patio seating. Which I might opt for. Service was great! They were attentive and apologized for the accessibility issues. I will start with the positives: Hands down best cornbread I've eaten since my granny was alive. Collards were very well seasoned and delicious. Fried green tomatoes were great and the addition of feta was genius. One of the best waitstaff experiences I've had in years. Top notch. When I arrived at the restaurant, the hostess (Kelyn Allen) advised my reservation was for Friday night, not Thursday! Kelyn graciously immediately took action to ensure our group would be accomodated that evening. Kelyn Allen is an outstanding employee, her actions ensure our group had a wonderful evening despite my booking error. Our server, Walter, took great care of the group. Walter was friendly and had a good sense of humor. This made our evening even more enjoyable. Everyone enjoyed their dinner choices, Grace's restaurant always provides the finest dishes for their customers. When you do walk in everything floor to ceiling feels like you've walked in to someone's house just turned up to 11. Service continues the welcome home experience, everyone is polite and helpful, our server was happy to have us it felt. Food selection is as advertised, it's southern comfort food, so don't be afraid to get your calories in. There's a couple of sprinkles of Asian influence throughout the menu as well, for a change of pace. Everything we ordered was well seasoned, nothing understated. A signature restaurant in the Carrabba's family, Grace's has been one of the many restaurants sitting in my bookmarks for years. It wasn't until a recent weekend that I found myself in town and decided to finally take the leap after hesitating for so long. My experience was beyond my expectations, so much so that I am still somewhat in disbelief writing this review. Located in Upper Kirby next to all of the other Carrabba's establishments, Grace's was named after Johnny's grandmother (#1) with a menu inspired by the international food scene that Houston has become synonymous with. From soul food flair to Cajun specialties, a nod to gulf seafood and faux-Asian dishes, and a bit of Tex-Mex and a slice of Americana, it is arguably one of the most eclectic menus in the city. It's a spacious restaurant, with numerous indoor and outdoor seating options. I appreciate the various themed rooms and the thoughtful decor from top to bottom. I even enjoyed the ultra clean restrooms with a dedicated mouthwash station, and the maining dining hall which gave nostalgic, retro, yet special occasion vibes. I've read the many decade-old service issues and current day long waits, but that wasn't at all my experience. I walked in with my group of hungry dining companions with no wait and received impeccable service throughout the afternoon. My waters were filled, my questions were answered, and accommodation were made. I had ordered so much food that they were able to take my existing table and expand it into a larger round table simply to make room for all the dishes I had ordered. There is a bit of a sticker shock when it comes to the ultra pricey menu but it didn't stop me from ordering a number of itsms, most of which was extremely tasty. I loved the smokiness of the carajillo cocktail, the excellent roux of the gumbo, and surprisingly tasty onion rings, and addicting yet incredibly salty baked potato queso. We had run out of chips and without hesitation the staff refilled with more chips. The banana foster pancakes was a nice mix of swéet and savory, which was only made better a la mode with the ice cream scoop. The fried oyster salad was surprrisingly hearty, and the Stuffed chicken was quite excellent despite being overpriced. I did really love the brussel sprouts, and would not order the collard greens next time. The creamy mash was served in a laughably small bowl and the Mac and cheese was expectedly indulgent. I do consider myself incredibly lucky and would not be surprised if the next time nodes a different experience. While I passed on the chicken fried chicken (nothing is better than Frenchy's) chicken near TSU/UH, I went with the Cajun stuffed chicken with a side of candied yams, and collard greens. Before the main entrees, I went with the sticky ribs and oh my goodness...absolutely delicious...I almost licked the plate! The entree was good, but I probably could have just ate a plate full of those yams as they were the bomb and at the level of my aunts candied yams we get to enjoy for Thanksgiving. The cornbread smothered with butter was delicious....and don't forget the banana pudding (might be better than Pappadeaux's) I do want to recognize the server as he was very attentive and we felt his service was spot on....if you see the Oaxaca old fashion on the menu, remember I put it there as I ordered one and apparently the bartender was thrown off a bit and he mentioned to the server he might feature that one on their menu....if you haven't tried one, stop by there and enjoy! read more

You receive a small skillet of cornbread that was so good. We ordered the small gumbo which is a very generous portion. It's a dark roux that is very flavorful and came out hot. A small Caesar salad and side of fries with a side of ranch. The ranch must be homemade, it tasted amazing. The fries were so good and the salad was a good Caesar flavor. I absolutely love love love this restaurant! I highly recommend everyone get the chicken fried chicken with Mac & cheese and loaded mashed potatoes!! This meal is to die for I don't know how they make it but they make it well and it taste like heaven!! For dessert I recommend you get the chocolate toffee cake!!!! So, I must preference this review first by saying that I understand that restaurant have the right to choose who comes into their establishment and that dress codes are necessary when guest take advantage when they aren't implemented. However, restaurants should use digression when turning away customers or or make them wear a cheap Hanes T-Shirt under a vintage Sade Tank Top. Now, let me explain. I was at Grace's last Saturday the 12th with my family and son who was visiting from DC celebrating a family members B-Day. I'm 54 so my pants weren't sagging. I didn't have on anything ridiculous. Nothing old or ragged looking on from feet to forehead. Plus, there were women in the staff and several guest wearing white beaters, spaghetti straps. So, I was perplexed when the young lady couldn't understand why I couldn't I fathom her making a big deal me wearing this shirt. Long story long, my lady asked for the Manger who was very nice but gave me a cheap Hanes T-shirt to wear under my TT. Needless to say I was pissed but it didn't spoil the dinner. The food was good. I had the stuffed chicken, it was Flavorful and great potions but wasn't worth the interrogation over my shirt. Especially when half the restaurant was in tees, ball caps, shorts and sneakers. Moral of the story, if you're gonna have a "Dress Code", have a real one and if you're going to continue with the no guys with tank top policy you may want to make that for women as well before someone with time on their hands decides to file a suit for discrimination. read more

My family and I celebrated my birthday and cousin here. We made reservations and we all arrived about 45 mins early but because it was so busy, we waited about an hour and a half. Eventually it got really hot out so we hung out in the bar area. Once our tables were ready, the waitress escorted us back. The area where we were seated was spacious and intimate. Perfect for our family as we celebrated my little cousins and I's birthday. The food was really good and I enjoyed the cornbread. The cocktails were amazing as well. Overall we had a great time that was memorable and I can't wait to visit again for brunch. read more
