We went to Grace's on the last day of our trip, and it was such a great final meal in Houston. We went early in the day around midday, and the atmosphere was super versatile. You could easily come here for a fancy birthday celebration or just a casual lunch and brunch. I loved that I didn't feel weird having two kids under six with us. There were other families there, and it felt very welcoming without sacrificing that nice restaurant vibe. Everyone in the family really enjoyed what they ordered and the service was great! My oldest daughter had the cheeseburger with french fries and loved it, especially the bread which was nicely toasted and gave it a great crunch. My youngest had the chicken tenders with mac and cheese, and my husband really liked his stuffed poblano pepper dish. I ordered the country-fried pork with greens and mashed potatoes, and everything on my plate was delicious. The mashed potatoes were great, and the greens leaned more sweet than savory, which I really enjoyed. The fried green tomatoes were another major standout with the sauce they served. I honestly wish we had a spot like this back home! My only small critique is to skip the sweet tea. Good evening, I am a Houstonian born and raised, and I have been to Grace's more times than I can count. In the past, I have been a huge advocate for this establishment and have recommended Grace's to countless family members and friends. Unfortunately, after my experience today, I can no longer say that I would confidently recommend this restaurant. My aunt came into town to celebrate her birthday and wanted to go somewhere nice for brunch, so naturally, I recommended Grace's. I made reservations for 12:30 PM, and our family traveled approximately an hour from the Cypress/Katy area to celebrate Labor Day together. Unfortunately, the experience started off poorly and continued throughout our entire meal. After being seated, our waiter came over, introduced himself, and then we did not hear from him again for approximately 20-25 minutes. During that time, he did not take our drink order, ask if we wanted appetizers, or even bring the complimentary cornbread. We were literally looking around trying to find our waiter. Thankfully, we were able to get the attention of a manager, who took our drink order and brought our drinks himself. That alone should have been an indication that something was wrong with the service. Later, my mom and aunt ordered another round of drinks. My mom received hers, but my aunt's drink never came. Our food arrived, we ate, finished our meal, and her drink still had not been brought to the table. At that point, my aunt told the waiter to cancel the drink and asked for the check because we were ready to leave. When we received the check, we noticed that a gratuity/service charge had been added. Since there were only three adults and two children in our party, we decided to speak with the manager--the same manager who had to take our drink order earlier. We explained our experience and the issues we had with the service. What was most disappointing was that instead of apologizing, acknowledging our concerns, or expressing any genuine concern about the experience we had just described, the manager made excuses. That response was extremely disappointing. I understand that restaurants can have busy days, mistakes happen, and service issues can occur. What made this experience particularly frustrating was the lack of accountability and customer service after we brought the issues to management's attention. I have been to Grace's numerous times, so I know what the experience is normally like. This was not an extremely busy day compared to what I am accustomed to seeing at Grace's, which made the poor service even more surprising. We drove an hour to celebrate my aunt's birthday and expected to have a great Labor Day brunch at a restaurant that I had personally recommended to my family. Instead, we left extremely disappointed. We came here for Sunday Brunch last minute and had a great time. The only open reservation slot that was open was for outside, but that was fine. They had fans and a/c units outside to keep you cool. Our server Sofia was amazing!! She knew the menu very well and was super nice and caring! She also recommended some items from the menu that were her favorite. We ended up getting a frozen pomegranate mimosa carafe to share. It was so yummy and definitely kept us cool outside. Our food was delicious as well and I couldn't finish mine and had to take mine to go. They offer valet parking or you can park in the garage next door. Your choice. Another HRW review! I came in for lunch and they had 3 courses instead of 2 which was awesome! I walked in and there was no wait which I haven't experienced so i was pleased. Service was a little slow which is why I can only give 4 stars. For the first course I had the seafood campechana which was delicious. There was a sweetness to it that I really enjoyed. And the tortilla chips were perfectly crisp. Second course I got the American garden salad which was a basic salad nothing to write home about. Third course I got the cheeseburger which I asked for medium but it was well done. With the patty being that thin I think they shouldn't ask how you want it bc it probably will be over. But the flavors were there! If you don't love mustard definitely ask for it on the side because there is a lot on there. While the restaurant was full, I didn't feel packed in or crowded so I like that about Graces. I also like the open kitchen concept and the bar seats by the kitchen window. read more

I finally made it to Grace's on Kirby and left with mixed feelings. The dining area is a little compact (not super small though) but it's not a quiet, romantic spot. The main highlight was the 5 star service by Eric! He's enough to make me want to go back! I'll definitely ask for him every time! 2nd highlight is that cornbread because whew...bussin. Pair it with the collard greens and that's a five-star combo all day. I was undecided on what to order, so I went with the cajun stuffed chicken exactly as it comes, along with mac & cheese and collard greens. The meal wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either. The chicken, I'd probably skip next time, I took most to go and it went bad cause I couldn't do it. Mac wasn't anything to write home about either but again, them greens and cornbread are absolutely getting reordered. My friend ordered the key lime pie and enjoyed it, so that seemed to be another solid choice. But back to the real MVP of the visit which was our server, Eric. He made menu suggestions without being pushy, kept my glass full the entire meal, was kind, patient, and anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask. That level of service is becoming harder to find, and it definitely elevated the experience. The wait staff were very kind and friendly. We did the Houston restaurant weeks deal for 3 courses. The apps were amazing - the baked potato dip and the seafood campechana were so flavorful. The salad was ok/good nothing too special. The burger had a stretchy melty cheese on it which was different but still really good. My friend recommended Grace's for our weekly eating out routine. This was my first time here. I searched on Google and found the price range. I thought it has to be a fancy restaurant to begin with. I forgot to check the menu. For being vegetarian, this restaurant is lacking dishes for me. Not a single vegan option on the menu, sad. Not sure why Yelp says there is. I ordered a large Caesar Salad. It came drenched with cheese. It looked ridiculous and tasted extremely salty. If I said no cheese, this dish would have been just a plate of romaine lettuce with 6 crotons. What a sad feeling. My friend ordered a stuffed chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens. He seemed enjoying it. The waiter was overly friendly and he kept pouring water into our glasses. He first warned us about the cornbread as second one will not be free. Heck. We barely touched it. It was too sweet for me and it has cheese. The crusty bottom seemed the only tasty part. Sigh. That was a no-go. The service was pretty good from entering to exiting. We came in pushing my friend on his wheelchair. Two employees already holding the doors open for us. Everyone was smiling and welcoming us. The hostess was a little overly enthusiastic. It kind of put me off. After reading the story and driving around to see the family restaurants, Mia's and Carrabba's, just around the corners. I can't believe it. It's been 10 years since I reviewed Grace's. I've probably been here 35 or 40 times since then. I bring family and friends here all the time along with business partners. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston, Texas. You will experience the best food and the best service here every single time! Today was the first time I decided to get some food to go. Bradley was an absolute professional. While I was leaving, Johnny Carrabba came out and talked to me for a second. What a nice guy. Full of natural charisma. Reminds me of an old wise guy from casino or Goodfellas. We had a great conversation. I told him how my grandmother was born in Bryan Texas in 1927. He told me about his family that migrated there in 1905. He also mentioned his family had a store on Canal Street. I had no idea. An exceptional person, a legend in the restaurant industry here in Houston, Texas. It was great to meet you today Johnny. Thank you for your professionalism and hospitality and also thank you for serving some of the best food in Houston, Texas! Food: as you can see from all my pictures of the food is simply amazing. Service: (10/10)- We had a team of 3 servers so 1 of them was always checking on us, filling water glasses, or removing finished plates. Soft, melt in your mouth & not too sweet with the bourbon carmel sauce. Sausage (9/10) - homemade, nice hint of garlic Chicken (8/10) & waffles - chicken wings were large, well seasoned with visible pepper flakes in the coating. The chicken was the star of the dish. The waffles (5/10) - were very ordinary & a bit dense. Our entire table (even the waffle lovers) said hands down the pancakes are superior. Eggs (8/10)- scrambled soft & actually well seasoned for eggs! Crab cake (8/10) - good amount of crab not filler, well balanced old bay seasoned. Tip: you can sub 1 pancake for the waffles in the chicken & waffle order. Note: the pancakes are a la carte so the eggs, bacon/sausage and potatoes are all separate at ~$6 or $7 each. Grace's has consistently provided highly quality meals for both brunch and dinner over several visits. The team of servers were outstanding with their check-ins without being a nuisance. All were very friendly and quick to respond to any requests. As always, Sunday brunch is a crowded affair but our reservation was honored immediately. Our group of six was very happy with our meals and each of us shared our dishes. I had the chicken and waffles and the chicken easily earned five stars. The waffles on the other hand were very ordinary and somewhat dense in consistency, a three stars. Got to sample the potatoes and absolutely loved them. Grace's does get pretty busy during lunch time. We started off with the baked potato dip. If you like chips and queso, you'll love this. I honestly think all restaurants should start serving potato chips with their dips instead of tortilla chips. Total game changer. We also had the sweet & sour calamari and shrimp. I was a bit skeptical when it first came out because of how it looked. I never had noodles with calamari before, but it paired so well with the sweet & sour sauce. I think this is one of the better calamari dishes I've had in Houston. I usually have the cornbread here, but didn't this time. I highly recommend trying it for your first time. As for my entree, I ordered the creole stuffed chicken. I didn't really care for the collard greens. I liked the mac & cheese, but I wish I had rice because the chicken dish is a bit too salty for my liking. I could only finish half of one of the pieces. There's plenty of crawfish. Overall, it's just a very heavy meal. I probably wouldn't order this for lunch again because I can't imagine anybody finishing it and completing any work after. I chugged my water lol. Our server- Lakayla was very sweet and informative. I ordered the stuffed chicken served with mac and cheese and greens. Entrees include a soup or salad so there is a great bang for your buck. Everything was amazing. The complimentary cornbread is warm and sweet. For the table, we split their frozen pomegranate mimosa pitcher- which gave us about three drinks a piece. Gratuity is already included in the final bill for all tables. While the restaurant was busy- it was not too loud and allowed space for conversation. I came to this restaurant for the first time on a Sunday, around 4:30pm for a drink before going to our second destination. We sat at the bar. The bar area was small and intimate. They had booth seating along the wall and a few tables between the bar and booths. There were tv's at the bar to watch sports. My friend and I only looked at the drink menu, but everyone's meals around us looked good. I ordered the frozen mimosa, which was orange juice and champagne. The food, decor, and service here were amazing. We wanted to try this restaurant as we were looking to try the best corn bread in the area. The jalapeno corn bread that is served here was way better than I had expected. It was seasoned well and not dry at all! We ordered Chicken fried chicken and Cajun fried chicken to share. Both entrees were extremely good, but the sides unfortunately fell short. The collard greens were a tad bit too salty & the mac & cheese was a little bland for our liking. This review is a little different because it is not about the food, which is what brought our party to Grace's after church today. Instead, it is about the way we were treated by the hospitality manager, Kryssalyn Bayne. Our party consisted of five people, including a 97-year-old senior citizen. When we arrived, four of the five members of our party were present, and there were no guests waiting to be seated. However, Ms. Bayne was focused solely on the fact that one member of our party had not yet arrived. She informed us that other guests had been seated because they had called ahead, although this option had never been communicated to us during any of our previous visits. What was most concerning was not the seating policy itself, but the manner in which we were treated. Ms. Bayne's demeanor was loud, confrontational, and, in our opinion, disrespectful. We had all just come from church and were simply trying to understand the restaurant's policy. When I politely suggested that she lower her voice, she responded by accusing me of speaking disrespectfully to her staff, despite the fact that I had not spoken to anyone other than her. Grace's has always been known for its hospitality, which made this experience especially disappointing. I believe the front-of-house staff, and particularly those in leadership positions, would benefit from additional training in customer service, de-escalation, and professional communication. Every guest deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect, regardless of the circumstances. Unfortunately, this interaction overshadowed what should have been a pleasant meal and family gathering. We were seated at Table 14 & served by Mr Lewis who was a breath of fresh air. The food was good despite the entry. read more

Great service! The cornbread was outstanding along with the in-house butter. My grilled chicken was so juicey, mash potatoes were so creamy & the onion rings? Thin, crispy, flaky... circles of goodness! We live in Austin and we will DEFINITELY revisit this place when we come back to Houston!!! read more

It was crowded, loud, and they automatically add a 20% gratuity during brunch, even for a party of one. I was in Houston for the weekend and went here to celebrate a friend's graduation. We had a large party and the restaurant was very accommodating. We sat outside which had a nice ambiance. Our server was very friendly and gave some great recommendations. I ordered the Toni's Kale Salad with grilled chicken and it was really good. The cornbread was also good. Stopped here for Sunday lunch with the family. I've seen good from here, but hadn't tried myself. Great atmosphere with a popular crowd. There is usually a wait for inside, but you may be seated faster if opting for the outside patio area. I'm a bit disappointed with the accessibility. In order for me to get to our table, I had to leave my walker and use my canes. ‍ Even with this, several patrons had to scoot up or move around for me to get through. For someone in a wheelchair would have a hard time. I'd suggest wait for edge seating which would be better. Outside of this, the food is really good. I enjoyed my entree, but got full quick. Nothing like a good old doggie bag. I'll have to return again to review the patio seating. Which I might opt for. Service was great! They were attentive and apologized for the accessibility issues. If you want good to go, there is a side entrance. Parking is an issue, so ride share may be a better option. read more

Everything was delicious and service was spectacular. We went with a group and everyone loved their food. Cornbread was delicious. Their mashed potatoes were SO GOOD. But their carrot cake was better than I expected - I would get it again in a heartbeat! Also the parking was easy with the garage next door. And the ambiance and look of the restaurant was great too.
