    Chicken, fries, chili

Nice, upscale, rustic restaurant with a menu to match. Easy parking, lots of tables inside. Great wait staff, attentive and helpful. Good steaks, ribs, chicken, burgers, seafood, even the seasoned fries. Ribs tender with a bold pepper flavor. Brisket chili was excellent. Crab cakes baked not fried, so tastes good but different texture. Nice touch are the bottles of cold water on the table. Recommend.

King Ranch has a large menu but nothing we had really stood out. The brisket queso was flavorful. The shrimp-stuffed jalapeños were just okay. The filling was fine, but the fried batter was too thick for my taste. The blackened fish was disappointing. It was extremely buttery and not cooked evenly. The ends were flaky, but the center was tough and undercooked. The green beans were delicious and cooked perfectly. Service was friendly and attentive, but the noise level at lunchtime was very loud and made conversation difficult. Not recommended for a business lunch. The decor was very country ranch style.

Our 1st time here and definitely not impressed at all with the food. The restaurant ambiance is nice. Service was Ok but the food is not. We had the lunch menu . The briskets were the worse we had in all the place we ate. Meat was so chewy that at the 1st bite , we already didn't want to eat more. The fried chicken steak was ok not the best in town for sure and ran out of smashed potatoes at 12pm that's not good. Overall not impressed at all.

Master Cowboy Gabe is fantastic!!!!!! Walking in King Ranch and being greeted by this King Cowboy felt like I was in a western Hollywood movie. Gabe delivered style, grace, and country southern hospitality with the best memorable service. My birthday boy enjoyed the shredded beef sandwich. Next time he'll know to request to hold the onions. The presentation was beautiful nonetheless. He really complimented the homemade 7season fries which were very good even though they are not crispy. They're great! King Kam says this is where he plans to utilize his birthday rewards every year. So see you guys next time.

Lovely service and great food. Had the king ranch chicken enchilada casserole and it was fabulous. The bread basket was heavenly. Especially if you take the pretzel with the queso. So good. Super enjoyable.

We were happy they were open on Christmas. We arrived at 5:20 and seated at 5:30. Our server appeared to be busy. He told us he would be back. We ordered a pineapple margarita and brisket queso. The dip was served hot on skillet. It was creamy and delicious. We ordered the 3 meat platter to share with a side of creamed street corn. The food on the platter wasn't hot but the corn was served hot on a skillet. We told the server and he told the manager. The manager said he would ask them to remake it. We said it's not a big deal, we know they are busy. He insisted on taking it and the food came back out shortly with an even better presentation. Yes, it was served hot! The ribs were tender, and slightly charred and really good. We ordered a huge slice of carrot cake to-go. It was also tasty and topped off with candied pecans. The food was good but the service was a little slow. We will go back on a non-holiday day and order the same exact food!

Loved going to this TX concept restaurant. Everything was so delicious. The pineapple margarita was chef's kiss! We started with the brisket queso and bread basket. The queso was fabulous. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. I also had the Brussels sprouts that were so tasty. For dessert my husband and I shared the pecan crème brûlée with peaches. It was so good! The service was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy and quiet. We will definitely return again!

I was a little disappointed with my experience here. Upon sitting at our table, there were kids at another table walking on the seats, parents couldn't have cared less about what they were doing! Meal started out good, we ordered the brisket queso, it was good. I got the Nilgai with sweet corn and my wife got the 12" ribeye. I didn't understand why her ribeye was so thin, he'll the Roadhouse ribeyes are cut much thicker! However she enjoyed the baked potato she got. I, however got the Nilgai, this came with only two small medallions, one was chewy, the other was tender. Got them medium rare. I would have served three medallions and had done the. In a whiskey finish! However the apple pie dessert I got was lack luster! The apple pie was as cold ad the ice cream served on top of it! A bit disappointing don't they have ovens to warm the apple pie? Being that it was my first time eating there I was disappointed! Sad overall! I would give it 2 stars out of 5!

There were many mixed reviews so I was hesitant to dine here. But nice surprise the four of us enjoyed our meal very much! The staff was welcoming and our server Avery was top notch! We had steaks and fish and the complimentary bread basket that included pretzel rolls were all delicious! Extra points for free and easy parking.

After using another one of my favorite apps to discover what restaurants were open on Easter Sunday,I came back to Yelp to see the reviews and decided on King Ranch Texas Kitchen. Reservations were made via Open Table, which were valid when my Mom and I arrived. In fact, we were a little early because my Pastor wanted to enjoy his Easter dinner too evidently, and had us out before noon! Taking my time driving there and not even getting on the highway, we arrived 15 minutes early for the reservation, but we were greeted and the hostess went to see if we could be seated early. Thanks for that because I was famished! The inside reminds me of Saltgrass, but a little more Texan. Since it is a Landry's affiliate (didn't find that out until the end of the meal), the look and feel of Saltgrass makes sense, but think Texas Tycoon Saltgrass. The waitstaff wear cowboy gear from head to toe. Maybe it was just for Easter- but hey it really partnered well with the aesthetic of the restaurant, which has a rustic, western feel. The menu reflects my description as you have some southern favorities like country fried steak and but also salmon dishes. Really, the vast menu items I saw online drew me into choose KRT. However, on Easter Sunday, there was a limited menu. I asked our server, Devon about this and he confirmed that the menu is limited to help the kitchen out since they have a Easter buffet they make available for patrons. I'm usually not a fan of buffets, but this one has every ranch animal you think of along with the creatures of the water! From prime rib to boiled shrimp and fried catfish to mac n cheese and green beans, this buffet has two rooms- one for the main entree choices and another for dessert. 50 plus bucks yes but an opportunity to taste everything from the KRT Menu, its worth a try! Boiled shrimp was probably my favorite because theywere HUGE- as big as my fist! Way worth the peeling, not too salty, clean, and juicy! I alao enjoyed the wedge salad, which was crisp and came with just enough drizzle of dressing. I tried the mac and cheese as well which was packed with cheese and a great compliment to the fried catfish, which could have been crispier but I think this was due to it not being served right away from the kitchen and laying in the buffet table. Once more, the green beans were seasoned to perfection, reminding me of my auntie Vs- and that's saying a whole lot! Somebody in KRT's kitchen knows how to throw doooown, and they wanted us to not leave a crumb when we left! The only negative is that you can't take leftovers from a buffet home. Sad face, but I still had a whole room to check out! I was pretty full after eating one plate (ops forgot about that plate of boiled shrimp lol) but I had to try the dessert room. Anything you could think of was lined up perched and ready for devouring by patrons. From cookies to cobblers, complete with ice cream, you could certainly satisfy you sweet tooth at this buffet! Once more, I loved that all the desserts were made by a local baker. Everything waa fresh and certainly tempting to try but with only 1 stomach that was already pretty full, I only could muster trying out the cheery cobbler, which was just okay to me. Not really a cherry cobbler fan, so my bias probably got to me, but the the chocolate chip cookies can never be turned down by me and it was delicious! My Mom's meal was exceptional as well from her feedback. She went with the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. I insisted she order another side to balance out the meal, so she decided on asparagus. She loved the freshness of the spears and they were seasoned quite well too. You can't do potatoes wrong unless you really try, but she received a glob of them that made for a great doggy bag compliment to her chicken fried steak that she at half of. It too was huge in portion size and thankful, not overly coated with breading and allowed the steak to shine as it was tender and could be cut with a fork. This was a great little restautant away from the hustle and bustle of The Galleria Mall,,but close enough to the area in case its your hood and you don't want to venture too far out. For me, I would certainly come.back just to access the normal business hour menu and ensure the food quality matches what was presented on Easter Sunday, but certainly a great find to Yelp about! Certainly a great stop for some comfort food worth the itis any day of the week.

It also felt like a third space of sorts, because I was hanging out with a well connected friend, and everyone who came in was a who's who of the Houston restaurant/nightlife scene, and gathered for what turned out to be an unplanned hang out. They were hosting a vinyl swap night, so folks were coming in to peruse the many boxes of vinyls, and a DJ spun classic r&b tunes. I hear that on some nights they make space for a dance floor so people can show off their best two step in the space. The drinks were great and well priced but the wine selection is what got me. I was told they were inspired by Japan's many vinyl listening bars-- having been to many across Japan as well as many NYC imitators, this place actually impressively comes close. Regarding the food, the Frisée Salad was pretty good, well dressed and flavorful. The chicken sandwich was okay. The batter was crispy and flaky but it had no flavor. What made it a lot better was the coleslaw that brought a great deal of tang and moisture. The steak was not quite for me. It came on a bed of sauce that was flavorful with fresh veggies but it did not go well with the steak. Perhaps chicken would've suited better. The steak itself was dry and quite chewy. For dessert we had the carrot cake tres leches which was decent. The carrot cake flavor was there but the moisture from the cake was not fully spread in the cake. Overall nothing here was bad but with the plethora of restaurants in the Houston area I can't justify recommending or returning.

We ended up using the valet service as I couldn't find the designated parking lot, and we were already running a bit late. Upon entering, I was surprised by how hot it was. Even the poor hostesses were fanning themselves. It was an exceptionally hot and humid evening, and I found the dining room to be very warm throughout the meal despite us being no where near the front doors. The dining room was packed and very noisy. This is something to make note of if you prefer a more intimate settings. Conversations required almost shouting to be heard. Annoying. Our server gave us the spiel since it was our first time. I was interested in the HRW menu while my dining partner ordered from the regular dinner menu. I was quite impressed with the selection. The focus on premium meat and seafood was very apparent, and the inclusion of items like house made bacon and exquisite A5 wagyu should excite any meat lover. As for rating the food, the following was the result: Steak House salad - 4/5 a bit of a nineties flair with the balsamic drizzle. This was a hearty simple salad with nice presentation. Calamari with peppers - 4/5 I've never had calamari this soft before. The meat is obviously tenderized. The coating is not really crispy either despite appearing as such. The fried fresh jalapeño and Fresno chiles were an interesting touch. Bread service - 4/5 very tasty and again very soft. It was a lot like a giant pull apart fancy dinner roll. The rosemary salt was a good option. 8 oz filet - 3/5 it gets interesting here. I ordered it medium rare plus and was informed they don't do plus temperature cooks. Weird. For a nice steakhouse, I was surprised this wasn't an option. I receive my steak, which has a lovely peppery crust. The inside though is a very deep cool red, as in rare. Granted, I could be generous and label this as rare plus, but it certainly wasn't medium rare. The server insisted this is their standard for medium rare. There is some wiggle room for interpretation, but I've eaten and cooked enough steaks in my life to know the difference. I assume dining at prime time on the busiest day of the week, the kitchen may be rushed a bit, and a thick steak like this isn't rested properly. They refired the steak for me, but it was still deep cool red in the middle, but now with more well done cooked edges. A second attempt was made, and at this point the steak was compromised with a well done past edge and slightly less deep red center. This was barely acceptable as medium rare in the center. The heat is obviously not penetrating to the center. Even the myoglobin in the steak juices was streaked with dark red ribbons. I ate the steak anyway, and it was tender still despite being in a less than ideal state. Double cut Colorado lamb chop with lamb bacon- 4/5 that lamb bacon is very tasty! The lamb chop itself was cooked nicely. Very good, but in the top three? Probably not. Garlic whipped potatoes- 3/5 they were kind of on the goopy and oily side, not really fluffy. The garlic notes were nice and prominent. Cheesecake - 4/5 texture and flavor wise the cheese part was fantastic and not overly sweet. What was missing was an incredible solid graham cracker crust! Theirs was very thin. The server forgot my iced tea and chalked it up to the kitchen being temporarily out. A busser I had asked presented it after I had inquired about it after some time (it was so warm inside that the iced tea was needed!). Girl, it's okay to fess up and said you forgot. She did leave it off the bill though. There was a long lull between appetizers and the mains. Our waitress offered us a complimentary dessert, and I chose chocolate cake to go. We received a small square of cake instead of a full slice. Lol. The restaurant manager did come by and made his rounds throughout the dining room which I thought was a nice touch. I asked him what his favorite main course was, and he said the surprise sleeper was the salmon! A friend had also mentioned the same! When we received the bill, there was a 3% "restaurant operations fee" tacked on. What the? The prices here are already inflated, so this is just insulting to injury. As we were waiting for the valet, I noticed an additional almost 4% charge for using a credit card. Come on! I get that margins are thin at restaurants, but I'm starting to feel a bit nickel and dimed at this point. Overall, I left with a lot of mixed feelings. The food was overall good, but I expected a higher level of food and service. Granted, we were dining during prime time so I am a bit more forgiving, but for the price we paid, the overall expectation of the experience was not quite met. I would tentatively return for the more uniqueness menu items.

The restaurant's warm,…read moreenergetic atmosphere--filled with families and even a bridal party--set the tone for a memorable evening. Our appetizers, the bruschetta and the chicken and beet salad, were beautifully prepared. The Gulf red snapper entrée was outstanding: fresh, delicate, and served in a creamy broth accented with sun‑dried tomatoes. Dessert was equally impressive, with both the carrot cake and tiramisu offering a perfect finish. With excellent service and thoughtfully crafted dishes, Marmo has earned a spot on my list of places to return to.

These beautiful western has outdoor seating, bar area, and main dining room, beautifully decorated, elegant, and classy, perfect for those special occasions. We came to celebrate my friend's birthday, and we got wonderful service, our server was attentive and gave us beautiful recommendations for the food. Food 10 out of 10, server service 9 out of 10, Drinks 10 out of 10, host 5 out of 10. Two things I didn't like about this place, they are not allowed you to bring balloons for a birthday celebration, and your party cannot be seated unless half of the party is already here. And they charge you to cut the cake, if you bring your own cake they're gonna charge you about four dollar cake slices I think it's a little too much Other than that, we had a great time

Loved the creme brulee for dessert! Had the Dead Flower to drink and that was probably my favorite mocktail! 5/5 on service as well. Our server had great recommendations for drinks and food. He was also super attentive. 5/5 on ambiance. Was definitely giving an upscale vibe.

Service was amazing-- we loved our waiter who was a combination of polite, funny, and knowledgeable, and everyone gave us a smile. All the dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful but definitely on the heavier side. - Beet salad (5/5)-- wow, never had a beet salad like this one before! So much flavor with a tanginess from vinegar sweetened by the blueberries and beets. The beets didn't taste very earthy (aka like dirt) compared to most beet salad. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!
