    King Ranch Chicken "Casserole" Enchilada
    Stacey G.

Lovely service and great food. Had the king ranch chicken enchilada casserole and it was fabulous. The bread basket was heavenly. Especially if you take the pretzel with the queso. So good. Super enjoyable.

Our 1st time here and definitely not impressed at all with the food. The restaurant ambiance is nice. Service was Ok but the food is not. We had the lunch menu . The briskets were the worse we had in all the place we ate. Meat was so chewy that at the 1st bite , we already didn't want to eat more. The fried chicken steak was ok not the best in town for sure and ran out of smashed potatoes at 12pm that's not good. Overall not impressed at all.

Master Cowboy Gabe is fantastic!!!!!! Walking in King Ranch and being greeted by this King Cowboy felt like I was in a western Hollywood movie. Gabe delivered style, grace, and country southern hospitality with the best memorable service. My birthday boy enjoyed the shredded beef sandwich. Next time he'll know to request to hold the onions. The presentation was beautiful nonetheless. He really complimented the homemade 7season fries which were very good even though they are not crispy. They're great! King Kam says this is where he plans to utilize his birthday rewards every year. So see you guys next time.

We were happy they were open on Christmas. We arrived at 5:20 and seated at 5:30. Our server appeared to be busy. He told us he would be back. We ordered a pineapple margarita and brisket queso. The dip was served hot on skillet. It was creamy and delicious. We ordered the 3 meat platter to share with a side of creamed street corn. The food on the platter wasn't hot but the corn was served hot on a skillet. We told the server and he told the manager. The manager said he would ask them to remake it. We said it's not a big deal, we know they are busy. He insisted on taking it and the food came back out shortly with an even better presentation. Yes, it was served hot! The ribs were tender, and slightly charred and really good. We ordered a huge slice of carrot cake to-go. It was also tasty and topped off with candied pecans. The food was good but the service was a little slow. We will go back on a non-holiday day and order the same exact food!

Loved going to this TX concept restaurant. Everything was so delicious. The pineapple margarita was chef's kiss! We started with the brisket queso and bread basket. The queso was fabulous. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. I also had the Brussels sprouts that were so tasty. For dessert my husband and I shared the pecan crème brûlée with peaches. It was so good! The service was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy and quiet. We will definitely return again!

There were many mixed reviews so I was hesitant to dine here. But nice surprise the four of us enjoyed our meal very much! The staff was welcoming and our server Avery was top notch! We had steaks and fish and the complimentary bread basket that included pretzel rolls were all delicious! Extra points for free and easy parking.

After using another one of my favorite apps to discover what restaurants were open on Easter Sunday,I came back to Yelp to see the reviews and decided on King Ranch Texas Kitchen. Reservations were made via Open Table, which were valid when my Mom and I arrived. In fact, we were a little early because my Pastor wanted to enjoy his Easter dinner too evidently, and had us out before noon! Taking my time driving there and not even getting on the highway, we arrived 15 minutes early for the reservation, but we were greeted and the hostess went to see if we could be seated early. Thanks for that because I was famished! The inside reminds me of Saltgrass, but a little more Texan. Since it is a Landry's affiliate (didn't find that out until the end of the meal), the look and feel of Saltgrass makes sense, but think Texas Tycoon Saltgrass. The waitstaff wear cowboy gear from head to toe. Maybe it was just for Easter- but hey it really partnered well with the aesthetic of the restaurant, which has a rustic, western feel. The menu reflects my description as you have some southern favorities like country fried steak and but also salmon dishes. Really, the vast menu items I saw online drew me into choose KRT. However, on Easter Sunday, there was a limited menu. I asked our server, Devon about this and he confirmed that the menu is limited to help the kitchen out since they have a Easter buffet they make available for patrons. I'm usually not a fan of buffets, but this one has every ranch animal you think of along with the creatures of the water! From prime rib to boiled shrimp and fried catfish to mac n cheese and green beans, this buffet has two rooms- one for the main entree choices and another for dessert. 50 plus bucks yes but an opportunity to taste everything from the KRT Menu, its worth a try! Boiled shrimp was probably my favorite because theywere HUGE- as big as my fist! Way worth the peeling, not too salty, clean, and juicy! I alao enjoyed the wedge salad, which was crisp and came with just enough drizzle of dressing. I tried the mac and cheese as well which was packed with cheese and a great compliment to the fried catfish, which could have been crispier but I think this was due to it not being served right away from the kitchen and laying in the buffet table. Once more, the green beans were seasoned to perfection, reminding me of my auntie Vs- and that's saying a whole lot! Somebody in KRT's kitchen knows how to throw doooown, and they wanted us to not leave a crumb when we left! The only negative is that you can't take leftovers from a buffet home. Sad face, but I still had a whole room to check out! I was pretty full after eating one plate (ops forgot about that plate of boiled shrimp lol) but I had to try the dessert room. Anything you could think of was lined up perched and ready for devouring by patrons. From cookies to cobblers, complete with ice cream, you could certainly satisfy you sweet tooth at this buffet! Once more, I loved that all the desserts were made by a local baker. Everything waa fresh and certainly tempting to try but with only 1 stomach that was already pretty full, I only could muster trying out the cheery cobbler, which was just okay to me. Not really a cherry cobbler fan, so my bias probably got to me, but the the chocolate chip cookies can never be turned down by me and it was delicious! My Mom's meal was exceptional as well from her feedback. She went with the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. I insisted she order another side to balance out the meal, so she decided on asparagus. She loved the freshness of the spears and they were seasoned quite well too. You can't do potatoes wrong unless you really try, but she received a glob of them that made for a great doggy bag compliment to her chicken fried steak that she at half of. It too was huge in portion size and thankful, not overly coated with breading and allowed the steak to shine as it was tender and could be cut with a fork. This was a great little restautant away from the hustle and bustle of The Galleria Mall,,but close enough to the area in case its your hood and you don't want to venture too far out. For me, I would certainly come.back just to access the normal business hour menu and ensure the food quality matches what was presented on Easter Sunday, but certainly a great find to Yelp about! Certainly a great stop for some comfort food worth the itis any day of the week.

Country Fried Chicken + Crispy Brussel Sprouts

I was sat without having to wait which is always a plus dining in Houston on the weekend. Our server was super sweet and very attentive! The restaurant itself was nice, clean, and not loud inside. I ordered an Espresso Martini, definitely on the stronger side 7/10. The South Texas Quail is the perfect starter, something about the sauce is addicting! The quail was cooked perfectly and I wouldn't have changed anything about it 12/10 so so good! I got the Country Fried Chicken and Crispy Brussel Sprouts as my entrée and it was okay. The country fried chicken was a bit salty and the crispy brussel sprouts were a little dry 6/10. The Carrot Cake was MASSIVE and pretty good 8/10. Overall I feel like it's overpriced for what you're getting and there are much better dining options in Houston, so for that reason I wouldn't go back.

My fiancé and I have been here 3 times and we have ordered carry out twice. We are addicted to their bread baskets. We really loved this place until our most recent visit. We were celebrating our anniversary and chose to sit outside. We wanted to be alone and be able to enjoy each other's company. We were seated, got our drink orders, and then our waitress went back inside. We got caught up in conversation when she came back with our drinks we ordered a bread basket. She said she'd put it in for us. We continued talked and more time went by. It was 25 minutes before we got our bread basket and then an additional 30 before we saw our waitress (a runner brought our basket out). We had been sitting at the table for an hour at this point and still hadn't ordered our food. We realized that we had been forgotten. Our waitress reappears to take our order and ask if we needed more drinks. I just ask for water and order my food and my fiancé does the same. We never received water, and our food was brought out by a runner, again. Our waitress didn't reappear again until our food was gone to ask "how everything was". We had steaks, if one of them was cooked incorrectly, it would have been cold but the time she came back. I really hate to give a lower rating because we really do love this place, but they chose the wrong visit to miss. It was our anniversary, we didn't even stay for dessert because we knew it'd add an hour. The young girl waiting on us, even asked us to review her. I will not share her name, but I will say that if you want people to review you, do your job well so they have nice things to say. moral of the story, sit inside or they'll forget about you.

The dining room is chic and feels very upscale but comfortable with a large open fire kitchen that was really fun to watch while dining. They were very on top of service with both our dining captain and waiter checking on us throughout the evening. For appetizers we ordered the deviled crabs, tuna tostada and wood roasted carrots. All were great but I especially loved the carrots which were cooked and seasoned perfectly. For my main course I had the chicken and dumplings, husband got the NY strip, our friends shared the whole fish and we had the cabbage and crab rice as sides. Everyone was very happy with both their main courses and the side dishes. We were too stuffed to order dessert but they sent out a s'mores inspired sunday for my birthday which was both thoughtful and sublime. Overall we were very impressed with our meal. Food was delicious but veeeery indulgent. We will be back.

We were greeted by three different people - one that took our drink order, one that cleared our plates, and one that took our order. All were very nice people and gave excellent service! I forgot their names unfortunately. My receipt said Zachary but not sure which waiter that was. Between me and hubs, we had a Pan de campo, an order of Gulf Oysters "casino", (4) dressed oysters, a 16 oz dry aged ribeye, a snapper entree and a side of crab fried rice. We finished almost everything except a quarter of the Pan, about a quarter of the rice, and about a third of the ribeye. All were great dishes and would definitely order again. We skipped dessert because honestly none stood out to us. He said their popular dessert is the souffle but they were sold out. Our total before gratuity was about $250 and that included one cocktail. Hubs had their "classic" old fashioned which he said was excellent! Overall, highly recommended if you don't mind the splurge or for a special occasion!

When walking in it wasn't crowded but there were a fair amount of guests for a near 10 pm crowd on a Wednesday. I went and sat at the bar to which I was immediately greeted and provided menus. Food & Drink - 5* I immediately ordered some wings and fried pickles and peppers. Then I debated between the Irish Stew or the Shepherd's Pie. When I inquired, both are great but advised I should go with the Shepherd's Pie. Off to races we go. Fried pickles and peppers, delicious, the batter isn't over the top yet doesn't fall off terribly. The cilantro jalapeño sauce is a fantastic pairing. The wings -- great, nice crisp, flavor was not necessarily what I expected, I couldn't place it at the time it they were good. Now, the shepherd's pie, wow, this dish was addicting. I'd come back over and over for this while sabotaging in semblance of a balanced diet. Just makes me know that the Irish stew is likely equally fantastic. The drinks, well, I can't speak to cocktails but the Guinness was delicious, cold, with nice collar/head. Can't go wrong with that! Service - 5* Everything one would want. Friend, fast, and attentive. Water was always full and was asked if needed anything multiple times. The only thing I didn't get proactively was napkins, but when I asked, I was provided some quickly. Cost - 4.5* Overall, I think, subjectively speaking, everything here is pretty well priced. The shepherd's pie may be a tad overpriced but it's worth it in how delicious it is. Overall - 5* This was a pleasant surprise to visit and I will certainly come back. Subjectively the location is good and bad. Being next to the improv and movie theater I'm sure helps attract many patrons for these businesses. At the same time, this joint, with a loyal following, would sustain business and "feel" better as a free standing establishment in a more neighborhood type environment. Nevertheless, great place, would recommend people stop in even if they aren't visiting the stalwart attractions in the area.

Recently, each time I've visited, service has been exceptional. The staff is very friendly and fulfills requests quickly. Today I tried one of their new bottomless sodas. Yes, the price seems steep at 4.99, but when you think about as many refills as you want without extra charge, it's a good deal. You're not going to get "fancy" soda flavors and toppings anywhere else for cheaper that I know of. I ordered the bacon and blue burger lettuce wrapped with broccoli. They do have a gluten free bun option for a bit of an up charge, but the lettuce wrap is a free substitution. The manager, Nate, stopped by my table multiple times during my visit to check on me and my waiter was very attentive too. Sundays after church can get a little busy, and with it sharing a strip with the movie theatre I'm sure there are times before/after movies that are more busy too. The place was organized but a little dirty as some walls definitely needed to be wiped down and a lot of furniture needed dusting. Our server Hugo was very nice but I genuinely felt bad for him because he was stretched so thin. He was serving and bartending at the same time which is kind of wild for a Friday night in a busy shopping center. You could tell he was stressed so I am not even mad at him for that part. The issue came with dessert. I needed to run into a store before it closed so we planned it out to give me about 45 minutes to grab what I needed without rushing anyone. Instead of eating dessert there we ordered the "fudge filled chocolate chip cookies" which are described as "five soft chocolate chip cookies with a fudgy center." So naturally you assume they are soft and probably warm. We waited a little over 20 minutes after ordering them just to get a box with an apology from Hugo saying they were frozen and we could bake them at home. I was shocked. Like why would I order dessert to go and want it frozen. The way you get them straight from a supplier (probably Sysco ) I literally got up and started laughing because what. We left and were laughing about it but I was still pretty annoyed so my husband called to try to get some kind of ticket number or reference so we could give feedback to corporate. The first girl who answered, I think her name was Natalie or Natalia, was very kind and got the manager on the phone. That is where it went downhill. The manager would not provide any reference number or anything at all. She just repeated our order back to us. Diet Coke, strawberry lemonade, Reds double burger meal, royal Red Robin burger, triple yumm platter, and the cookies. We explained we were given frozen cookies and she said yes that is correct. We asked if that is how they are served in restaurant and she said yes they are served frozen in restaurant and to go. We told her the menu says soft cookies and frozen cookies are not soft. She doubled down and said they were served exactly how they are supposed to be. My husband asked again for a ticket number so we could just verify with corporate and if we were wrong then no problem. She then got super patronizing and said "oh you had a good experience but it was the cookies, oh my goodness it was the cookies." It is honestly wild that she spoke to us like that. She then offered to refund the cookies which we said was not necessary because we just wanted to give feedback. She kept going on about how it was the cookies and how that is how they serve them. Like why would I pay for frozen cookies. Please get a grip. Hugo was kind and doing his best but it took over 20 minutes to box up frozen cookies. We just wanted to give feedback or be told we misunderstood, not be talked down to. I would not recommend coming here for to go orders, you might get a frozen patty next.

I've been to a few of their locations around town and enjoyed it. This location is pretty big. The space inside is spread out with lots of seating. They even have a little area with an arcade. The patio is very spacious too. For a Sunday with games on, the place was pretty empty. It worked out for us as we were seated immediately and got our servers undivided attention. Service was great. One of the things I love most about this chain is that they have really great daily deals. Since I had just ate my weight in popcorn next door, I skipped over their appetizers and set my sights on the wings. I ended up going with the wing basket which came with 10 wings and a side. They have around 20 flavors to choose from. I like options. I went with the Buffalo Hot which is a saucy option and the Spicy Ranch which is a dry rub option. I've had these flavors before and they packed some heat along with flavor. At this location, it fell a little short though. The wings just didn't pick up the flavor options. They were cooked perfect and weren't bad by any means, but just ate pretty bland for me. I like a little kick and like the sauce or rubs to stick to the wing. The side of waffle fries also were room temp at best. My friends seemed to enjoy their choices. Overall, I am pretty sure I got them on an off day. The chain usually hits the spots on most visits. I would check them out again if in the area and the wing cravings hit.
