Been wanting to try this spot for a while and seeing it pop up on Yelp's top 100 made it feel like I had to go. Finally made my way out here and enjoyed myself overall. The staff were nice and my partner and I sat in their front patio as it was a nice Spring evening. They do a sort of fusion, pizza, seasonal menu type thing. We came on a Thursday and had a special of half off liquors so we each got a cocktail with our liquors of choice. We started with the yum yum fries which were very good. Battered fries covered in sweet, umami, slightly spicy sauces and various other toppings. They were a bit pricey for the portion though. I got the house kale caesar and added chicken to it. I got the large as I thought a small would be a side salad size but a large was definitely meant to be shared. The crutons were really good and I probably enjoyed that the most from my main. The salad itself was also good, nice caesar dressing, crunchy bitterish kale. The chicken was sort of a let down though and wasn't anything special. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and time here. I definitely want to come back and try some of their pizzas so will need to make a return trip!

We came here recently for dinner with friends and had a great experience. It's a converted house with a spacious patio out front and some seating in the back. If the weather is nice, go to the "backyard" of the house and there is plenty more outdoor seating back there. Bring your furry friend and enjoy one of the two patios together! We started off with draft beers. Our server was knowledgeable of all the beers they had on draft and made some good recommendations - all local beers from the greater Houston area. For food, we got the Yum Yum Fries, Garlic Honey Soy wings, Tom Yum wings, Spicy Goat pizza, and the Romesco pizza. The Yum Yum Fries were a great starter - the fries were crispy and the tangy sauce complemented them well. Both of the wings were quite meaty and flavorful; the tom yum flavor was surprisingly very resemblant of tom yum! The Spicy Goat pizza reminded me of the prosciutto & arugula pizzas offered at similar pizza joints. The Romesco pizza had to be my favorite of the night. While I don't normally like jalapeños on pizza, they went well on this one paired with the pepperonis and red onions; my favorite part was the crispy onion strings on top! I've also been here a couple other times for their Monday steak nights. It begins at 6pm (after happy hour concludes) and includes prime rib, mashed potatoes with onion strings, brussels sprouts, and a draft beer all for $25. Not a bad deal at all, and I think the prime rib cut is seasoned really well - not to forget you get a beer with it too. Southern Yankee Crafthouse is a great neighborhood spot with good food and plenty of drink options. Service was top notch throughout the night and if you're in the mood for wine after your meal, go check out Light Years next door!

Came in on a Saturday at 5 pm and sat on their balcony. Fair number of seats open both inside and out. Food 5/5: We ordered the truffle fries, crispy smoked porky belly, pistachio crusted lamb chops and bacon jammed Brussels sprouts. Also got a. Flight of beer. Everything tasted amazing, only small thing was the lamb chops could've been a little warmer. Highly recommend both apps Service 5/5: super friendly and helpful, food came out really fast Ambiance 4/5: low key casual ambiance, clean Value 4.5/5: great food for a pretty good price, similar quality to some of the nicer places in time without the fancy ambiance price tags Overall 4.8/5: will definitely be back to try some of their other options on the menu.

Wow, everything we had here including the tom yum wings and the Peach Fizz and the Caribbean Queen Mocktails were absolutely outstanding. The wood fired oven makes everything taste amazing!!! My partner said if he could give this place 10 stars he would! Our server Stephen is the best, was super helpful and gave us the best advice on what to order. We will most definitely be back!

Southern Yankee captures the spirit of gastropubs and Montrose as a whole. It's a lively vibe that fits most occasions, hot or cold, indoors or outdoors. With indie music such as Tame Impala and Glass Animals playing through the speakers, it's just upbeat enough to spark a conversation with friends -- but not so rowdy that you're fighting to get a couple words in. They nailed the Southern Yankee Craft Burger. It contains a unique jalapeno bacon jam as well as more common ingredients such as pimento cheese and crispy onion rings. Excellent combination of flavor and will satisfy most people in most situations. The steak fries tasted decently seasoned as well. Having only 2 days to reconnect with friends and family, I'm glad I chose this gathering spot among all the others that Houston has to offer. It was a great experience all around!

Stopped in for a late lunch one day and the food here was so good. I am a sucker for giant pretzels and theirs did not disappoint. I also ordered the Southern Yankee Burger--and this is a hefty burger. It was well-balanced and seasoned perfectly. I also tasted the tom yum wings--delicious. I loved the sauce on them. Our server was great and super attentive.

Convenient place to downtown Houston. Scratch made menu with lots of options. House made pastrami on the pastrami melt was excellent, pizza crust was delicious, margherita toppings were just ok, salt & pepper helped. Service was good, indoor & outdoor seating available. Fries are FANTASTIC!

This place is nothing short of excellent. The service is quick and helpful and the food is superb! We tried their seasonal specials with the burrata appetizer and beef stroganoff. The noodles I the stroganoff were so well cooked and the sauce was delicious. We also tried their seasonal specials seasonal cake. We will be back!!!

We are visiting from San Antonio and were searching Yelp this morning unsure of where we wanted to go for brunch/lunch. Decided this place sounded interesting and my goodness did we choose well! First: the service could not have been better. We dealt with two servers, Charlotte and a guy whiae name we missed, both SO nice. Hubby got the chilaquiles with fried chicken added and I got the grinder sandwich at Charlotte's recommendation. Both were excellent and their fries are epic. We sat on the front deck/patio and even tho it doesn't have a great view, enjoyed it very much. We will definitely return!

Southern Yankee Craft House was a whole vibe. The atmosphere gave me Cheers energy, everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came. It felt welcoming, lively, and comfortable all at the same time. The food was excellent. I had a margarita, crispy smoked pork belly, and cowboy candy all flavorful and done right. My husband and I split the ribeye melt with fries, and it did not disappoint. Service was top tier. Grant the bartender kept our drinks replenished and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. Bonus: the ambiance was perfect for getting a little work done. I connected to the WiFi, pulled out my laptop, and handled a few things during happy hour (3-6 PM, M-F). Productive and relaxed? Yes please. We'll definitely be back.

Been here a few times before writing! Each time it never misses. Both the patio and inside are great for seating. Wondering what parking is going to be like soon once the lot they use will be developed. The mixed drinks are lively and great. Always something amazing. For dinner you can't miss with any of the pizzas and wings. Mix the ranch and buffalo sauce together. Thank me later. Tried brunch one Sunday after visiting the MFAH. The Friday was great. It's a spot I always bring out of town friends to check out!

We decided to celebrate August birthdays celebration with our friends here. It was a pretty chill and casual place with awesome service. We were seated in the front patio because we had a big group and their front patio is covered with fans but this Houston heat was just unbearable. Our server, Steven, was nice enough to move us inside when we asked him so we were really grateful for that!! My husband and I opted to order from Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. I ordered the Ribbon Salad, Truffle Bianca Pizza, Fruit Tart. The ribbon salad and fruit tart were good. However, the truffle bianca pizza definitely had the truffle but I was not amazed by it. Overall, their food is not bad and this is not a bad casual place to hang out with especially with friends. It's also a big place with a front and back patio. They also have a free parking lot across the street.

First, the vibe. It is warm, stylish, and very Montrose in the best way. It feels elevated but still relaxed enough to just sit, talk, and enjoy your time without feeling rushed. We came during happy hour and it was such a great deal. I ordered the Sweet Like Peach Tree, which was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced with the peach and ginger. My husband got the Frozen Paloma and it was just as good, super smooth with the right citrus bite. We also shared the churros and they were honestly a must order. Warm, crispy, and paired with Nutella and caramel. What really made the experience stand out though was our bartender, Manny. He was incredibly welcoming from the moment we sat down, had such a great personality, and made the whole experience feel personal. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that kind of service is hard to find. He also told us about their upcoming two year anniversary party on May 3rd with rotating live DJs, which sounds like it will be such a fun time. We will definitely be back. Considering the recent shutter of other places (#2) within the hospitality umbrella, it's not too big of a surprise that Wooster's would also be in the crosshairs. The space was always a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, which combined with its dedicated parking lot made this an easy drinking outlet for all kinds of occasions. The intimate indoor space was lovely and well ventilated, and it felt like there wasn't ever a moment where the bar wasn't slammed. The outdoor space was much of the same, with lots of tables and chairs, and even the trendy swing chairs facing the city. The only thing that was a little bit of a liability were those open flame heaters; it would only take on person to accidentally walk into one or trip onto it. For libations, the drinks were well priced, well made, and always potent. I appreciated the aesthetics, as well as the bartenders who made them. The only part that wasn't exciting was the limited food menu, which did its part as munchies for the drink heavy crowd, but was mediocre otherwise. The space is already undergoing the new facelift of a separate concept, one of which I hope will do the area justice, just as much as Wooster's did. ____________ (#1) The Kirby Group. (#2) R.I.P. It wears the posture of a dive but carries itself with intention, a little bohem, a little defiant, and entirely comfortable in its own skin. The bar hums with craft. Cocktails arrive balanced and deliberate, built by hands that understand restraint as much as flair. Nothing shouts. Nothing apologizes. Each glass feels considered, as though the bartender paused just long enough to ask what kind of night you were hoping to have, then answered without speaking. The staff moves easily, quick with wit and generous with attention, treating regulars and first-timers as if both had already earned their place. The decor tells its own quiet rebellion. Mismatched, layered, worn just enough to feel lived in, it carries the sense that stories have been told here and will be told again. I went because this was the only bar open during Labor Day when I had guest visiting. So I would say it's a pretty nice location, considering the fact that it is always consistently open. They had a good menu with different cocktails that were fun and fruity. Otherwise, I did also see people could order coffee at the bar and have different espresso drinks. It looks like the drink that I ordered is also no longer on the menu. The bar prides itself on having a rotating meal changing menu so I think that's a lot of fun when it comes to trying new drinks and new combinations and it truly shows the artistry of the bartender. There was the option of both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was more of a dimmer, elegant and darker tone. I can see it being pretty classic if you were to go at night time. The bar set up was really beautiful and they had different 2 to 4 seating wooden tables. Overall, the inside would probably only fit around 20 people. I was very sad because we couldn't sit outside. The day before it had rained so every outdoor seating was wet. But I was told that they had a beautiful seating outside with a garden and a pool. Service was good. The bartender came out of the bar to take orders, give menus and give you the check. I will say that it got really busy at the end and it took a while to get our check. There's only one or two bartenders working at one time so if there's multiple people with different drinks that are ordered, it will take a little bit longer. Not hard to find, it's located to the right as you walk in. What brought us here is that it's listed as one of the top 50 bars in Houston in Houstonia Magazine. Service (3/5): While we had a waitress, she was slow to greet us and slow to check up on us. It's a small bar and there isn't a ton of seating so it's not like she was overwhelmed. For a fancy hotel, you expect better. Maybe sitting at the bar is better than sitting at some seats as we did. Ambiance (4/5): The Colombe d'Or is a beautiful hotel and Bar No. 3 reflects that. It's an elegant spot to grab a drink, although small. Food (N/A): While there are expensive items on the menu, I had dinner earlier that night so I was on a liquid diet. Drinks (3/5): Bar No. 3 is known for its cocktails so I focused on the cocktail list. The list isn't large but it features a nice selection. Like the food, you're going to pay a premium. I enjoyed my adult beverage but felt like it was a bit overpriced. Hitting up hotel bars isn't a common occurrence in Houston unless you're a traveler. For Bar No. 3 to be the only hotel bar on Houstonia's top 50 is a feat in itself.
