We came here recently for dinner with friends and had a great experience. It's a converted house with a spacious patio out front and some seating in the back. If the weather is nice, go to the "backyard" of the house and there is plenty more outdoor seating back there. Bring your furry friend and enjoy one of the two patios together! We started off with draft beers. Our server was knowledgeable of all the beers they had on draft and made some good recommendations - all local beers from the greater Houston area. For food, we got the Yum Yum Fries, Garlic Honey Soy wings, Tom Yum wings, Spicy Goat pizza, and the Romesco pizza. The Yum Yum Fries were a great starter - the fries were crispy and the tangy sauce complemented them well. Both of the wings were quite meaty and flavorful; the tom yum flavor was surprisingly very resemblant of tom yum! The Spicy Goat pizza reminded me of the prosciutto & arugula pizzas offered at similar pizza joints. The Romesco pizza had to be my favorite of the night. While I don't normally like jalapeños on pizza, they went well on this one paired with the pepperonis and red onions; my favorite part was the crispy onion strings on top! I've also been here a couple other times for their Monday steak nights. It begins at 6pm (after happy hour concludes) and includes prime rib, mashed potatoes with onion strings, brussels sprouts, and a draft beer all for $25. Not a bad deal at all, and I think the prime rib cut is seasoned really well - not to forget you get a beer with it too. Southern Yankee Crafthouse is a great neighborhood spot with good food and plenty of drink options. Top notch service when we came in for the first time for lunch today. We had smoked wings and the burger with fries. The fries are really good and I'm not a fry person. We thought the burger and fries were good as well. They cooked my burger well done as asked and the jalapeño bacon jam was delicious and not spicy. This is a nice spot with a big covered deck if you prefer to eat outside. Parking is tight but I'm they have a sign saying they validate for a parking garage. We took a Lyft and that made it easier. We ordered the margherita pizza and asked if it was the pizza with the green sauce swirled on it in the photos we saw online and was told it was. When the pizza came out with cherry tomatoes covered on it and white sauce, nothing like a traditional margherita pizza or what we described to the waiter, we found the photo online to clarify and asked for the correct pizza. The server that misinformed us brought over Christina who told us that the kitchen was closed (12 mins prior) and she does nothing after her kitchen closes. We asked for it to be removed from our bill which she said she would not do but only that it was salty. (Why be rude and say you would not do it?) We immediately left the restaurant because Christina was incredibly rude to us. Why even have a service establishment selling $20 personal sized pizzas? We were seated in the front patio because we had a big group and their front patio is covered with fans but this Houston heat was just unbearable. Didn't have the melt-in-your-mouth feel. The butternut squash and goat cheese was good with it. Brussels sprouts - I liked them. Straightforward. The glaze wasn't too sweet. Roasted well. Fried green tomatoes - Good but still a bit tart and ripe. The jalapeño bacon jam (really sweet) and pimento cheese overpowered the whole dish. Pretzel bread puddin' French toast with bacon - my favorite of all the things we've tried minus the chocolate cookie skillet. I thought the French toast was amazing. I love bread pudding, so this was on point. Cast iron chocolate chip cookie with vanilla bean ice cream - Saw this delivered to another table from afar. Inquired about it, and my girlfriends and I had to have it. It was served bubbling hot and fresh with vanilla bean ice cream. It felt welcoming, lively, and comfortable all at the same time. The food was excellent. I had a margarita, crispy smoked pork belly, and cowboy candy all flavorful and done right. I just couldn't wait until the Fall/Winter menu came out with their Chicken Pot Pie on it. I had it last year and I commented that it was the best that I had ever had. We took a friend and touted it but when we got it in had so much salt that we couldn't eat it. We ate around the (once fabulous crust) but it was still salty. My wife had the Salmon and it was the same. We complained about it, the manager came over to apologize and that was it. I should have told them to take our meals off but when the check came out and because of how loud it was we just left. This place is very clean, the service is on point and they are so helpful, the food is top notch and well done no matter what you get. We sat outside and it was beautiful. I had the margarita and that was great. We got the pork belly, it was so yummy and the purée with it was delightful. We tried the pizza, and I didn't know that's what they were known for, but the pizza was sooo good! The crust had a good texture and the sauce was perfect.
