A great casual Italian cafe in River Oaks, perfect for a relaxed meal. We stopped by for dinner on the weekend. The ordering process is simple, order at the counter first then find your own seat. Indoor seating is fairly limited, but we were lucky enough to find a table inside. The menu focuses on sandwiches, pizza and pasta. They also have plenty options on cocktails, and wines. We ordered the Tartufo, the Pollo Milanese (with added pesto) and the Cotto & Crudo pizza. The bread and pizza dough are both excellent. Found this place via TikTok as having some of the best sandwiches in Houston, and I must agree with whoever's TT that was! It was middle of week and a group of friends and I had a movie we were headed to, but wanted to eat first. We decided to come here, and walked in to what felt like a very cool little shop in a town somewhere in Italy! Wine decorates the walls, and you can smell all the fresh dough and breads that's bein made. We grabbed a table and perused the menu. One of my friends and I decided that we would get two sandwiches and split, so that we could try more than one item. We went with the the Crudo (prosciutto sandwich), Nonna (mortadella sandwich), and the Pollo Milanese (chicken cutlet). They were both delicious, but I think the Nonna was my fave bc the cutlet was crispy and seaonsed well, and even when I ate my leftovers the next day, it was super good. The dough was fresh and delicious, light, and airy, and I just couldn't stop eating it. Some of our other friends ordered a pizza and the arancetti, and both of those were good as well. The pizza, whatever they're doing with their dough just works! IT was super tasty, quite big servings, and easy to share with 2-3 people. As we were wrapping oup our meal, since it is World Cup, they pulled out a huge tv to turn on, so that was fun to watch the game, eat, and feel like we were having an italian style meal. Cotto E Crudo offers some of the best sandwiches in one of the most chaotic environments. It's hard to decide whether the food is good enough to outweigh the stressful atmosphere (and... flies). Cotto E Crudo is a counter-service restaurant with incredible potential. Their Neapolitan-style sandwich bread is baked in-house, and the flavors they put together are simple and well-executed, allowing the fresh, high-quality ingredients to speak for themselves. The Crudo panuozzo, made with prosciutto crudo, burrata, baby arugula, and sun-dried tomato pesto, was one of the best sandwiches I've had in years. Sounds incredible, right? Except... The space is quite small for how busy they are. The line backs up quickly, the menus aren't easily accessible, and there isn't nearly enough indoor seating for the number of people coming through. Yes, there's an outdoor dining area... but let's stop pretending patios are comfortable when Houston is over 80°F for most of the year. They also rely on table-number flags, so food runners are constantly bustling around the tight space trying to find the right tables, adding another layer of chaos. The worst part, though, was the flies. Not little fruit flies, either. There were enough big, fat flies inside that every table had its own tabletop bug fan. I appreciate the effort, but when every table needs a dedicated fly deterrent, the fans are just a Band-Aid for the real issue. I initially thought this was all enough to cross Cotto E Crudo off my list, but I fear my love for sandwiches is stronger than my need for comfort. With some operational adjustments (and one big fly extermination), I think Cotto E Crudo has what it takes to become one of Houston's best sandwich shops. I had heard good things about this place and finally got to try it out for myself. I met a friend on a weekday afternoon, and we were worried about seating as we stood in line. The space inside is smaller than I thought, with small tables and a beautiful large high top made of wood. Fortunately, there's plenty of patio seating outside and large fans and shade to keep you cool. Inside or outside, it has a cozy and relaxed feel. I ordered the Pollo Milanese sandwich, a chicken cutlet with heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and lettuce, but I substituted the spicy mayo with sun-dried tomato pesto. My friend ordered the bolognese and pistachio cheesecake. My sandwich was big enough that I shared one half with my friend, and still took the other half home for later. I have had the good fortune of coming out a few times, and my experience has always been consistent: Excellent! Located a stone's throw from the galleria, this place is positioned in the middle of the city. Parking can be a bit of a hassle depending on what day and what time you're out here. There is a parking lot, there are street spots, and there is a dedicated lot. Take your pick, and maybe the odds be forever in your favor. The restaurant itself has a really nice out door seating area, with bug netting and plenty of shade. It won't beat the heat, but it does give you a nice spot to enjoy the outdoors when weather permits. I have been out here in the morning for coffee and pastries, and I've also been in the afternoon and evening for happy hour, and dinner. The coffee was fantastic, not cheap, but delicious. The pizza has been fantastic. The sandwiches are massive and delicious. There isn't anything here that I've gotten that I don't like. Highly recommend! I like how there are a lot of natural elements in the decor. Staff were welcoming and helpful. You order at the register, grab the number they give you, then a staff brings out the food to your table. I ordered the Bufalina, which is a vegetarian sandwich with tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, basil pesto, and baby arugula. Cotto E Crudo Enoteca is what I imagine a cafe in Italy is like. My friends and I decided to have dinner before an event here. It was a random weekday and the place was bustling. It is located right outside River Oaks off Westheimer. The shopping strip stays busy so parking can be hard to find in the lot, but there is a garage as well as street parking nearby. The inside of the restaurant isn't very big and seating is pretty limited, but they do have a nice patio on the side. Customer service was ok. When it was my time to order, I had a few simple questions about the drinks and food which never really got answered because the cashier didn't know the menu well. She was nice though. I'm a sucker for a good sandwich which is why this place caught my attention. Their signature items are the panuozzos, which is a traditional Italian sandwich. They take pizza dough, bake it, and slice it horizontally which turns out to be a great vessel for sandwiches. I'm blessed with friends that like to order different things and then we all share and sample. For the sandwiches, we had the Crudo (prosciutto sandwich), Nonna (mortadella sandwich), and the Pollo Milanese (chicken cutlet). The sandwiches are pretty big so pack an appetite when coming here. I can honestly say I liked each sandwich. They all had different toppings which made each one unique in its one way. The standout was the Pollo Milanese though. This sandwich was so delicious. The cutlet itself was seasoned and fried to perfection. It was topped with quality mozzarella, spicy mayo, and lettuce and tomatoes. It was a perfect balance of ingredients. Cotto Crudo is such a quaint little Italian eatery and wine bar tucked away in the River Oaks area. They've only been open about a year I believe, but this was my first visit and it definitely won't be my last. Especially with spring around the corner. I walked over so I didn't have to deal with parking but there's free garage parking and a few outdoor parking spots. They have a lovely outdoor patio along with indoor seating. My friend had already grabbed us a spot outside, so when I arrived I went in to place my order. I kept it simple with a chocolate pastry and a hot green tea, which was the perfect combo and usual go to if you know me. The staff was kind and welcoming, and I even got a chance to meet the chef. The kitchen has a bit of an open concept, so you can see them preparing everything. You can also tell the food is made with love and care by how it's put together and served. We took it to our apartment close by and enjoyed the Crudo Panuozzo ( sandwich) and the Cotto & Crudo Pinsa Alla Romana ( white sauced pizza). My recent two visits were one takeout of Bolognese Pasta and another last night with Vodka Pasta on the patio at night with a takeout Tiramisu afterwards. Both pastas were very delicious, fresh, savory and made with fresh noodles. The dessert was very delicious, creamy, had a great cake center full of moisture and so balanced in overall taste. The bolognese I had weeks ago was full of well-seasoned meat and long, flat, thick noodles. Last night the vodka pasta was rich, creamy, a little tart, a little smoky and so satisfying. The little pieces of pancetta added a touch more bite. The balance of the sauce was very well done. The short, round noodles had some chew and still so tender pairing perfectly with the sauce. The cold, sweet, bitter, contrasting dessert afterwards was a hit and so good in the cake, mascarpone and cocoa powder sects. Travis the manager was so welcoming, kind, friendly and helpful. I am also glad they sell bottles of San Bandetto Peach Iced Tea which are very good, refreshing and very hard to find nowadays. However, was pleasantly surprised at how big these sandwiches were, worth about 1.5-2 meals for $20; still pricey but good value. Luckily this area has parking available. The tartufo panuozzo is made with capocollo, caciotta al tartufo, black truffle cream, baby spinach, and marinated mix mushrooms. The space is oddly arranged especially considering it's a counter service. Luckily we went early and were able to get a table inside to avoid the flies. Basically it's romaine lettuce and some shaved cheese and croutons. Dressing tasted very mayonnaise-ish. They finally brought me a piece of chicken for my salad and it was so dry that my teeth hurt after chewing it. There was a lot of confusion with my salad. No apologies from them!! I'm really hoping I try this place again and am able to give this 4 stars but a few things are keeping me from doing it now. A cute italian cafe tucked away. It can be a little confusing, we wanted to Aranici and when we didn't see it on the menu we thought it was outdated (Tip: It's not it's showed in the bakery case not near the register). So you order at the register and they give you a number for you to display when you sit. Wish they cleaned tables more often (or maybe we had bad timing) because multiple were dirty in the outside 'yard' area so we settled on a table by the windows. We got the Tachchino sandwich which you could tell used amazing ingredients, I just wanted the balsamic to shine a little more, or another element. However their meatballs were amazing! Great sauce and the texture of the meatballs were spot on. We both got a glass of wine and ended our visit with a Carajillo which they do a fantastic job of. I made a quick lunch stop to Cotto E Crudo after a dentist appointment in the same complex. I placed my order while at the office and walked right over. My order was ready when it said it would be. The interior is small but cozy. If I had more time, I would've loved to dine at the cute string-lit patio outside. The nonna sandwich was fresh, hot, and delicious. Fresh cut mortadella and pistachio cream were great. Took me back to Italy. Will be returning to try flatbreads and pastas soon. read more

The arancini with the sauce was actually really nice. The texture of the rice was great. Good sauce flavor. Great texture overall. The pizza was abrunch pizza. Tbh I forgot the name. But it has mozz. Sausage and tomato's. But no sauce! Be wary if you love a saucy pizza The sandwich was a cutlet sandwich. Not bad. Everything was... Good. But!! The Bread on the pizza and the bread on the sandwich was TOP NOTCH. Beautiful bread. Texture was beautiful. Flavor was on point. Perfect fluffyness. Amazing crust. Right amount of salt. I have been wanting to try this spot since I saw someone do a video on IG showing this spot. Wow, it is delicious! Reminds me of a sandwich shops I visited in Florence and Greve Italy. We are about to go back to Italy in a week for a wedding , so it was a great warm up for it. My only suggestion is to ask them to toast the bread a little more, would have loved a little extra crisp. My wife and I split the Maialino and the Pollo Milanese Panuozzos. She was a fan of the Maialino and I personally loved the Pollo. From everything that came off the line, it all looked delicious. Definitely will go back! Will try one of the pastas next time. The food is not cheap, but they do give hearty helpings. read more
