Risotto, buttered beans
Neha S.

This place was 20/10, and I will be coming back here again. Every single thing we ordered was great. If I had to rank the items, there wouldn't be a "worst" it would just be amazing to still great. We got the burrata and buttered beans for appetizers. The peppers in the burrata were so tangy and added a zing the same way the sauce and toppings in the buttered beans dish did. The fresh dill in the buttered beans took it to another level. Also, we got the risotto and greens pizza for our entrees, and both felt really rich and flavorful. I was truly impressed because the dishes all seemed to be done very simply and in a true Italian fashion without too much pomp or fuss but done so well and to the highest level. We also got brown butter cookies for dessert and they literally tasted like Christmas. The drinks were also solid - would recommend Nordic thunder for anyone who really likes guava. This is truly a gem because while it may look humble on the outside, the inside is popping, and lively, and way bigger than I thought. Once you enter, there's the main seating area, but you can go further back, and there's a whole separate dining area, and there's even a patio. You can tell this place is super popular because the earliest dinner reservation we could get was 8:45 pm on the patio, but someone cancelled their indoor reservation so we got to sit inside instead. The service was also amazing as our waitress was super knowledgeable about the menu and had great recommendations to give. She was also super kind and made the experience great.

First time trying this restaurant, I didn't make a reservation and it was packed so I dined in outside by the patio which was pleasantly welcoming. I was craving pizza so I ordered the Italian sausage pizza with no Italian sausage and added hot honey on the side. The pizza was amazing. Service was amazing as well. I would visit again just to dine in inside as I loved the open kitchen concept. I went after 8pm and found street parking, I can't attest to parking prior to that. I would visit again. The only con is they don't have any chicken or beef options for the pizza which is a personal thing since I don't eat pork.

It's been a minute since we've been here. We had a concert at Meow Wolf and decided to give it another try. We got the sausage pizza, quail, beet salad, ice cream with a shot, and the frozen cherry cola drink. Can I just say that the food was fantastic and the service excellent? Pizza was very very good. The winner out of the food items was the quail. It was juicy, perfectly breaded, and the ranch and dill helped to round out the dish. Restrooms were clean and well stocked. We were able to park across the street and just walk over. Place was packed and others were waiting even for our 830 reservation and in the rain.

Their Happy Hour (Mon-Thurs, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM) is easily one of the best values in the city! Get half-off their fermented-crust pizzas and $5 cocktails! Vibes are more bohemian-chic style, with mismatched chandeliers and dark lighting. Pro-tip: get there right at 5:00 PM because pizzas do take ~25 min to come out.

Tiny chimps!! Always a fun treat to dine here. Starting off with the dreamsicle mocktail, this was sooo yummy and unique. Not too sweet either! As for pizzas, we decided on the greens pizza and the picante (no salami). Both were so freaking good. The greens pizza has so much garlic in it and the way the greens are CRISPY makes all the difference. The picante was also amazing, especially if you love the combo of ricotta and hot honey. To end our meal, we got the coffee ice cream sundae and oh my lawd, unreal!!!!! Love this place for date night or a girls night - it's definitely one of those places where you want to get a bunch of stuff and share! Check it out!

Ever since I tried Nancy's Hustle, I have had my eye on Tiny Champions and I finally saw a dinner reservation and had to grab a spot. We came here Saturday evening around 7:30 and it was quite busy in the main dining areas and bar. Our server was Francisco and they were great through and through (even gave me a great drink recommendation/modification). We started with the Nordic Thunder and Train Hopper drinks and the fried quail. We also ordered the fennel sausage pizza (+ fancy ranch and hot honey) and the stuffed shells with seafood cream sauce. Everything we had was 10/10 AMAZING. I'm so so happy that I finally got to try this restaurant and add it to my list of favorites. As far as the decor and aesthetics, the interior front is quite small but the back area is actually massive (including the patio). I loved the art work on the walls, the gender neutral restrooms and the neon light at the front. It really set a very artsy-decco vibe throughout. I would absolutely recommend anyone to come here - whether you grab a spot at the bar or reserve a table. I cannot wait to come back

This place has such a nice vibe. Dimly lit and cozy. The service is great and the food flavors are very unique. Loved the hot salami pizza! The cocktails are every good and so is the dessert

Hot honey pizza

Ordered the special pasta of the day. Wish i could remember the name because it was absolutely phenomenal. The pasta had crunch from nuts, stuffed with i believe delicious mushrooms. Very complex flavor profile. I got the hot honey pizza which was amazing as well. The only comment is that the hot honey gets a bit overwhelming in flavor as you get to the third slice. Service was great. I came in with no reservation and they managed to squeeze us in with the request that we leave by a certain time to accommodate those with a reservation. They let us stay a half hour past that time. On the darker side at night. Makes for a good mood for a date night.

visiting from atlanta and wanted to try tiny champions based off of its splendid reviews and it absolutely lived up to its hype !!! i havent had such good pizza like this in forever. the vibe is casual but the restaurant is dim lit with candles so it feels intimate and good for a romantic dinner. our server was really nice and was super thorough with explaining some of the menu items since it was our first time. we ordered the marinated beets (i think thats what it's called, comes in a ricotta cream with crushed pistachios) as a starter and it was delicious! i wasnt expecting to like it so much. a good flavor combination and it was light enough for us to finish our salami piccante pizza (hot honey with ricotta). SOOOOOO GOOD!!! so fresh, the ricotta taste so perfect with the spicy sweetness of the other toppings and the crust was airy but crunchy. for dessert we ordered their chocolate layer cake and the coffee ice cream sundae. the coffee flavor is true coffee, not as sweet as some others which i enjoyed. and the doughnut holes were so good!! warm and fluffy. if only i lived in houston i would go here all the time!!

This is my favorite restaurant in Houston and I cannot say enough wonderful things about it!! Definitely recommend reservations because it gets busy! The staff are so lovely, the servers here are the best. I really appreciate how the menu changes with the seasons. Braised butter beans- these were a perfect app/side dish. The broth is very savory and the croutons are a perfect texture, crunchy but soft in areas soaking up the broth. The beans are a nice texture, maintaining some chew. The cheesy mixture on top adds some creamy component and the dill adds freshness. It's really a great dish all around. Hanger with polenta- cooked perfectly. The steak was so flavorful and tender with slightly crispy edges. The polenta had a nice sweetness that paired well with the meat. It's 8 oz of meat which is perfect to share between 2 people while also enjoying other dishes. Potato puree pizza- all of the pizzas are great, this one is so fun and whimsical! The chips on top are a nice touch. The crust is perfection. Added chili oil on the side which gave it a nice little kick. Chocolate layer cake with chestnut hazelnut ice cream- oh my, I will dream of this dessert. The mascarpone frosting wasn't that sweet, the sharpness of the mascarpone helped cut through the sweetness of the cake. The caramel sauce, praline/nut crumbles, and candied kumquats created texture and extra flavorful elements. The chestnut hazelnut praline ice cream was truly remarkable, so fragrant from the nuts. I want a whole tub of this ice cream! This place can do no wrong in my eyes. Will always come back here through the seasons!!

Cucumbers w/ Pickled Honeydew, Tahini, Jalapeno & Sesame Brittle

We had a reservation for 7:15 and came a little early, so we had to wait a little as it was pretty busy. We were seated quickly and service was great. The patio has a similar vibe to its sister restaurant, Nancy's Hustle - very open, fun, and well-lit. Like Nancy's, the food holds its own. We started off with the Cucumber Salad and the Braised Butter Beans. The salad had this crunchy sesame brittle on top which gave it a good contrast to the creamy tahini dressing. There was a little heat to it as well. The beans were excellent and lived up to their reputation. We got the Crab-Stuffed Shells and the Risotto also. My favorite was probably the crab pasta. For dessert we got the Coffee Sundae with hot fudge and little donut holes. The ice cream was great - not too sweet - and the fudge made it even better. I liked dining at Tiny Champions, and I would recommend it as a place to have a nice dinner in Houston!

Fried Quail, Crab Stuffed Shells, Salami Picante Pizza, Rigatoni
Lanha T.

Tiny Champions is a casual place to grab a bite to eat. There's plenty of street parking around the area. Everything we ordered, we enjoyed. The fried quail was cooked nicely and went well with the ranch and dill. Both of the pastas we ate were delicious. It was hard to choose which we liked more between the rigatoni and crab stuffed shells. I liked the slight heat on the Salami Picante pizza. Hot honey is honestly good on anything. Service was kind of a hit or miss. The servers were quick to walk away after the food is placed on the table. I hate to flag someone down especially if another person was there 5 seconds ago. Tiny Champions is a good place that's no muss, no fuss.

Anchovy pizza
Sam R.

We decided to visit tiny champions based on a friend's recommendation. Immediately upon entering, we were greeted with a cool, dimly lit romantic vibe. We had no reservation and had to only wait 15 min on a Saturday night. The citrusy, watermelon chamoy drink we had while waiting refreshed us like no other. Sitting at the bar, we faced a cute tiny aquarium. The crab shell pasta with ricotta was the star of the show. Perfectly balanced between the creamy sauce and the zesty addition of citrus, every bite was like a hug. The anchovies pizza had a nice charred undercarriage, no flop, and a tart & garlicky bite to it. The side of hot honey struck a perfect contrast. Will have to return to try the mixed greens pizza. The main critique I have is the paucity of vegetarian pizza options.

They had two chocolate bon bons that weren't infused with alcohol and then all of the flat medallions are also not infused. They were sweet enough to send me home with some alcohol infused chocolates to have once I finish my chemo. We got there around 7 and didn't leave until the place was closing down. The drinks were tasty, even the Old Fashioned (probably the best one I've ever had). Plus they close even later than described with "no official close time". As our server described, "they close when the vibes die off ... typically around 1AM". So I'll definitely be back and you should definitely check them out. It's also close by to Houston high society, neighbors, and eighth row flint which are all amazing bars with perks of their own so it would be great for even a bar hopping date night.

Although I had a few drinks, my partner and I chose to eat beforehand because we were unsure if food trucks would be available due to the holiday. The team at the bar was very friendly, providing great drink recommendations, and other staff members consistently came around to collect empty glasses, keeping the area tidy. We reserved a cabana, which was a great decision, especially when the rain came later in the day, as it kept us covered. There was plenty of seating available around the pool and in grassy shaded areas away from the pool. Bathrooms and showers were also accessible if you wanted to change clothes. One suggestion I would make is to have a more diverse music playlist. While the venue advertised that pop music would be played, it didn't always match the preferences of everyone there, especially given the diverse group of guests in attendance. Also, make sure to bring your ID; otherwise, you won't be allowed in. I had to make a trip back home to retrieve mine, even with a valid photo ID. If anyone managed to get in without an ID, please comment below and let me know! Overall, I would recommend this club.

The restaurant and bar is located on the top floor of the new East River complex. They have valet parking as well as free lot parking a couple of blocks away. Since the visit was a last minute decision, we did not have a reservation. The hostess informed us that they would be able to seat us but that drinks may be up to a 30 minute wait since they only had one bartender. We agreed and were seated at a large table inside. While skyline views always make a place special, Aperitivo raises the bar even further with lux design and interior accents that make it feel super elevated. In terms of drinks, they have a number of original cocktails that you won't be able to find anywhere else. My friend got the "caprese" which is prepared with tomato water and a mozzarella brine, which was translucent and had a hearty but balanced finish. An interesting drink for sure. I got the "Aperitivo spritz" which was very light and refreshing. Cocktails are all $18 and there is also an automatic 20% gratuity added to all checks. The drinks and ambience were great but unfortunately the service did not impress us. After being seated, we had some time to review the menu before our waitress approached the table. When she arrived, we did ask whether there would be a 30 minute wait for drinks after the host provided this warning due to the single bartender. She took the question defensively saying that she had a bunch of tables and got to our table when she could. I realize that the question could have been interpreted in the wrong way but will say that her response was not very customer service oriented. This was a little bit of a let down given that you are locked into a 20% gratuity.
