    Proof a clean kitchen

We drive past this restaurant everytime we go to Walmart which is accross the street. My wife finally convinced me and we went for a late lunch, 245pm and it was empty. We were greeted and given menus. My wife likes Reuben sandwiches and I love and scour the planet for hamburgers. My wife ordered the Reuben and Rebecca with chips and pickles. She absolutely loved it and said it was the best Reuben since we left NYC 20 years ago. Like I said I am a hamburger aficianado. I will always take a burger over a steak. (not my wife, who thinks that is sacriligious). My bad was that I stopped reading when I read Cowboy Meal which was listed as a burger. It was an AWESOME looking plate and worth just looking at it BUT it was not a burger: it was a salisbury steak!!! I almost cried! On the plus side is that it had a lot of bacon!!! Was it tasty? Meh. Was it a juicy burger? No Way! My side was the smoked paprika salad which was very good. Leaving you walk past their desserts which even a blind person will stop in the tracks. I ordered to go a lemon bar which was very heavy and not skimpy and wife had their apple pie. They didn't make through the night!! The service was excellent and friendly. Will we come back? Absolutely for I want to try their burger. p.s. Really clean bathroom.

I had the pleasure of stopping by Salt and Sugar in Houston thanks to my family placing an order last minute after running some errands . I walked in and remembered I came to Salt & Sugar like a year ago! The order I picked up: Fish and chips with a side of Tatar sauce and balsamic vinaigrette garden salad. Four cookies: oatmeal, carrot, s'mores, and peanut butter. (I was coerced into getting them by Lonzo lol) Mannn let me tell you the fish was incredibly fresh, with a crispy, golden coating (beer batter) that didn't overpower the flavor. Cod fish btw. The fish and chips was accompanied by their house-made tartar sauce, which was creamy, tangy, and clearly made with care. The salad came with a light vinaigrette that paired perfectly with the meal. Customer service was on point. Lonzo really made the experience memorable with his warm attitude and attention to detail. I didn't plan on getting dessert, but thanks to his great service, I walked out with four cookies. Each one had its own charm, but the carrot and s'mores stood out; rich, chewy, and clearly baked fresh. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, a nice little spot that feels both relaxed and welcoming. Great for a casual bite or a low-key evening out. Salt & Sugar is a lowkey cool spot.

Loved it! Great food! Cool place with original art and Katz coffee. We had breakfast which resulted in one of the best omelette I have ever had! Creoles chicken, bacon, scallion and white cheddar. This place is also a fully functioning bakery with great looking cakes and pastries... next time!

Salt & Sugar is a must-try! The owner, Sally, is a gem and the staff are all super friendly! I came in with a huge group and they had already pushed together tables for us. The dining room was perfect. We ordered everything at the counter and they brought our food to us. The unanimous opinion: everything was wonderful!! I'm a sucker for a Reuben sandwich and this one was great. A little bit of a twist, but I enjoyed it. A few notable choices were the fish and chips, truffle egg salad, the fried green tomato blt, and the pork chop. The only downside to ordering the pork chop is that it takes about 30 minutes to cook. If you're ok waiting, it's a no-brainer to try! Everyone who got fries said they were delicious and many of us got dessert to-go. I can't wait to bring back my family to try more of their menu. I know it's going to be great!

We went to a coffee shop near by and wanted some brunch/lunch. I searched on Yelp and found this little spot who services breakfast and lunch. I got the chicken sandwich on a biscuit with a side of gravy and honestly, it didn't disappoint! I also grabbed a kolache to go for my husband, and services was speedy and kind! Definitely check out this cute little spot!

I decided to bring a group here for a 2024 Houston Restaurant Weeks dinner because I heard good things about Salt & Sugar. Some things here surprised me but the food was really good. Parking space is limited in front of the restaurant and that was all I could see. Inside it's half bakery/dessert shoppe and half restaurant. Finally you order and pay at the counter and then they bring the food to your table. From the HRW menu it was a 3 course affair for $39 and I started with the monkey bread, then the bourbon maple pork chop for the main and to finish the peach cobbler tart. A nice extra with this HRW menu is that the price included a glass of wine or beer from the menu. I went with the red blend. Our first courses arrived about 10 minutes later. My bread was in a cup and overflowed it consisting of about 5 large pieces when broken up. It was warm and fluffy and I could taste the rosemary and salt in that pillow of pure deliciousness. With some supplied honey butter, this bread was amazing. I couldn't get enough of it but fortunately there was plenty of it. I was the only one that ordered it and had to yell a couple of times, "don't touch my monkey bread"! Later the pork chop arrived with green beans and mashed potatoes. The 14 oz. chop was almost boneless meaning it was a lot of meat. The combination of the apple chutney on top and the maple/onion sauce used to cook the chop made this pork chop a pleasure to eat. Very flavorful and tender! The green beans were good and slightly crunchy. The mashed potatoes were outstanding. While it had soft potato chunks in a buttery and creamy sauce, I found this combination to be perfect. It was oh so smooth and satisfying to eat. This is my favorite mashed potatoes with no gravy needed or wanted. Finally the peach cobbler tart showed up with a scoop of vanilla in the center with a blueberry on top for a splash of color and taste. With Salt & Sugar being half bakery I expected this to be good and it was. The peaches, pastry and ice cream were all delicious and devoured with a spoon as it should be. After this meal, I felt stuffed. After this meal, I felt satisfied. After this meal, I wondered whether to rate it a 4 or a 5. Everything exceeded my expectations and for $39 (with a glass of wine) also made it a real value in my mind. From a HRW perspective, this was a 5 meal. Quality and price made that an easy decision. Since I tried to order some selections from the regular menu like the bread and chop, I believe that the food here is excellent whether it's for HRW or just a meal anytime. The kitchen here really stands out.

: Salt & Sugar: A Gem of casualties with Amazing Fries! This place totally hit the spot and got 5 stars from me. If you're looking for a place that feels like a little escape Salt & Sugar is it. Let's start with the food - the fries! They were perfect, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, just how I like them. Seriously, I'd go back for those alone if I see one again. And for a drink the Mexican Coca-Cola was a great choice - that real sugar taste is everything and was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Beyond the food the vibe at Salt & Sugar is something special. It's so calm and peaceful, such a breath of fresh air compared to some busier places. You really do feel like you're eating in a really welcoming, relaxed environment - exactly that 'at home' feeling you crave when you're eating out. Overall Salt & Sugar is a winner. Whether you're looking for a quiet meal on your own, a relaxed catch up with a friend or just some comfort food in a chill setting this is the place to go. Give Salt & Sugar a try - you won't regret it!

My Fiancé and I came here for my last minute birthday dinner. I absolutely loved the food and I could see myself coming back very soon. I would love to try their breakfast/brunch next. You do get your own silverware and water. The only downfall to the place is they do not have beer or wine. When my Fiancé and I go out for date night we like to grab a glass or two of wine. Overall, super cute little cafe and will definitely be back.

I was getting my car serviced close by when I stumbled upon this place. Boy was I overwhelmed, I was whipping out my phone to take photos for yelp but it felt like never ending because there was so many options and little things you can buy. I am overspending on sweets budget because SHEESH, some things that caught my attention, cereal milk cookie (a big one at that), Oreo rice Krispy, ginger bread cookies, all the different spreads (schemers) for the bagels, like there's sooo many things offered, and BREAD too! sheesh. a full breakfast and lunch menu, where you pay at the counter. They use KATS coffee. used to be urban eats, rebrand? A table in the front for people to drop off their business cards, I actually picked up a massage card and got a same day massage when I left there that was pretty good. I ordered a plain bagel (they ask if you want it buttered and grilled) equivalent to sliced and toasted, of course im gonna say YES. Scallion schmear, chicken sausage, and gouda grits a la cart, they also have juices. I got the green one with cactus. It was good! The bagel wasn't super crispy, and the schemer wasn't thicc but this is also not a bagel shop. personally I felt like this place has so much to offer, and its overwhelming for the consumer. it took me like 20 minutes to figure out what I wanted to order. outside seating available for those cool days ahead, but if you go, I would love to hear what you got, and what you thought. cheers!

Fried green tomatoe BLT with potatoe wedges and beet salad

Nice cozy bakery with a lunch/dinner menu. Everyone was very nice and welcoming; the service was excellent and the food was delicious and tasty. Both, the fries and potato wedges were cooked to perfection, with a outer crispy texture and soft well cooked inside. I recommend the Masmas burger, which comes with a choice of 2 side, and for dessert, the chocolate mouse is a must!

This is a the cutest little spot and I can't wait to go back! A client of mine suggested this place and I'm so happy he did. You order at the counter and they bring the food out. There are so many different options for dessert it's hard to choose just one. My sandwich was huge and the bread was amazing. I couldn't eat it all!

Decided to try this place on a Saturday afternoon, there's parking out front and there was no wait. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had ordered 2 desserts, a lemon meringue cheesecake and a chocolate eclair. The chocolate eclair had a strange tangy flavor to it like vinegar, the manager was very accommodating and let us pick out a different dessert. We picked out the fruit tart, both desserts were decadent smooth creamy sweetness. For our meal we ordered 3 breakfast tacos with egg bacon and cheese and potato, the boyfriend said the tacos were really good. I had the Parisian breakfast which included 2 eggs, brie with lime honey,a loaf of French bread, a buttered croissant, creamy butter and jam, and a cup of fruit, ooh la la I felt like I was in Paris. The breads were flakey and soft and buttery. All in all we enjoyed everything. Would definitely return to try other things on the menu.

Biscuits and gravy, sub sausage for fried chicken.

We went for lunch on a Monday. The classic burger was good but wasn't my favorite since I prefer more of a crumble patty. I love the fries though! The biscuits and gravy was good, although next time we will try it with the sausage instead of the fried chicken. The portions are large, we took home half of our meals. And we couldn't resist the bakery. The bite size chocolate chip cookie was perfect for a "taste" without a large calorie commitment.

It was surprisingly sorta busy, even though they were close to closing. Service was fine, not great. It felt like all the workers were teenagers who didn't really care, if you know what I mean. SAUSAGE, EGG, & CHEESE: It was exactly what you'd expect, in a good way. The bagel was hot, soft, and satisfying to eat. The TURKEY SAUSAGE, EGG, & CHEESE tasted almost exactly the same. Hard to tell the difference. JALAPEÑO CHEESE BAGEL: Surprisingly loaded with jalapeños and spicier than expected. PLAIN BAGEL: My last option. Plain is plain is plain. Not much else to say about it. I overheard a worker say that he likes the egg bagels more than the plain, and I instantly regretted not getting the egg instead of plain. It isn't bad, it's just not anything special with no flavor. LOX SANDWICH: At first, I thought it was loaded with salmon and was impressed, only to realize that there were thick tomato slices blending into the salmon slices. I felt a little bamboozled while eating because I thought it was loaded with salmon, but it was really loaded with tomato. The ratio was definitely off, with more tomato than salmon. Very disappointing. I could taste the salmon, but it definitely wasn't worth the price. Also, the bagel was too hard. I don't think they heated it at all. Or if they did, it wasn't enough. You could probably request it get heated more when you order though. Also, extremely messy to eat. The salmon and tomatoes kept sliding out with every bite. All in all, not a terrible lox sandwich. It's decent if you're craving one and in the area, but I'm sure I can find a much more satisfying one somewhere else.

Ike's specializes in sandwiches with their Dutch Crunch bread and Dirty Sauce, both unique in its own way. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, vegan, or on a gluten-free diet, their menu has it all. I personally am not a super fan of the Dutch Crunch bread since I find it a bit too harsh on the palate and somewhat dry, but love the Dirty Sauce (make it extra or on the side). I enjoy subbing the Dutch Crunch with either French or Sourdough. With over 300 unique sandwiches on the menu, there's a sandwich for everyone. My favorites have been the Menage A Trois (halal chicken, honey mustard, BBQ Sauce, real honey, pepper jack, swiss, cheddar), Ike's Reuben (pastrami, mack Sauce, purple slaw, gouda), Joker (all beef meatballs, fried zucchini, Ike's red pesto, ranch), and Grant Pinkerton, a Houston exclusive (Pinkerton Brisket, pastrami, BBQ aioli, provolone). All of my sandwiches have been stuffed and tasty, worth it! However, I find some menu items to be subpar in quality and flavor (chicken strips). You can even take some bakery items to go--if you are too full to eat there. Amazing selection of cookies, rugala, black and white cookies and more.

It's expensive but so much you could make 3 meals or share with others at your table. It's well worth it! The atmosphere is nice too.
