My friends and I had a little gathering at the Rustic and decided to walk over to Duchess for a little night cap. We rolled in on a Saturday with 12 people and were able to get seated right away at a long table. For a weekend night, it was pretty slow in there. Not sure if it's always like that, but I'll chalk it up to the bad weather. Inside it is very visually appealing. The lighting, the furniture and the color schemes were very sexy. Though it was slow, the music was turned up without being overbearing. Service was great from start to finish. Our waiter knew the menu very well and gave great recommendations. They serve food, but I think cocktails are their specialty. Most of us got cocktails and we got quite a few appetizers and snacks around the table. For my drink, I wanted something light and refreshing and lo and behold, they have a section for that. The Femme Fatale was suggested to me so I went with that. I like drinks with egg white in it because it has a nice, silky mouth feel to it This had that, along with vodka, brandy, lemon and grenadine. When it was presented to me at the table, they sprayed what looked like some fancy perfume over it. I like when places put some thought into presentation. The drink was delicious. I watched as all my people got their drinks and everything looked so nice. No complaints from anyone as far as taste goes. I wanted a little something to snack on so I got the Chef's Fries. It was fries but elevated with truffle oil and fresh grated parmesan. Those fries were some of the better fries I've had in awhile. We almost ordered another round. Overall, Duchess was a pretty cool spot that I can see myself coming back to. I do think they are a bit overpriced for what I got, but it is on par for the area.

Went here on a Saturday night and was surprised that the place was pretty empty. Our group was large, and the service was excellent. I didn't have any drinks myself, but everyone in my party said theirs were really good. The atmosphere was nice, not too loud or too quiet, even though it wasn't very busy. The food came out quickly, and everything tasted great. I'll definitely be back to try a full dinner or check out their happy hour to see if it earns that fifth star next time!

Went to Duchess for dinner and unfortunately had a pretty bad experience. The place looked nice and the staff was friendly, but we found a fly in my friend's food, which completely ruined the meal. The server apologized and took it back and comped the dish but it definitely killed our appetite. For a restaurant with such nice ambiance and higher prices, we expected much better quality control. Maybe it was just bad luck, but it's hard to want to go back after that.

We were invited to Duchess on behalf of my friend, which was celebrating her Ms. Universe coronation for 2025. Located near the galleria, it was such a lovely and elevated place to enjoy food and drinks with friends! The minute we walked in, everyone was so attentive and the ambient lighting made it feel romantic for sure. The mussels were so on point! They had a tomato base to them and seasoned to perfection! I almost at the whole app by myself! Ha! The burrata salad was so fresh and crunchy! It was a sweet and salty type of flavor to it! Try it even if you aren't even a salad person! The charcuterie board was also brought out with so different cheeses, meats, and jams, like any other charcuterie board. But good for a good size group. I was expecting a little more Mediterranean on the Arabic side and not the Italian side. But nonetheless, a nice place to try for date night or ladies night!

Stopped by for drinks after work and I was highly impressed by the carajillo version they have called "Cafe Dorado". Service was quick and cordial and ambient was tranquil and relaxing. Not overcrowded or too busy, so it was a perfect spot to stop by and catch up with friends!

Went with a small group of friends to this establishment. We ordered the grilled shrimp sliders. 5/5. Very tasty. We liked it so much that we ordered multiple rounds of them. Steak n fries. 4.5/5. Steak was very good also and fries were golden crisp. It would have been awesome to have gotten a bigger portion of fries. Lamb chops. 4.5/5. Lamb was very good also. Tasty n juicy. It was nicely charbroiled. Desserts were duchess rose and some sponge bread core cream dish. Not a fan of desserts so I just nibbled a bite. Service was on point. The place felt dark inside. We needed more lights. Or perhaps, that's how the ambiance is in upscale places?

Came on a Friday evening was surprised to see the restaurant so empty. The decor is beautiful and there is light music playing. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was just ok but I really enjoyed the drinks.

The short rib hash was delicious. The donuts weren't too sweet and were a great addition to brunch. Not pictured is the peach and pistachio burrata and the house sangria. All made for a great experience. The server, Devin was also great. The place was not crowded and had a nice aesthetic indoors and a small patio area which would be nice on warm(not hot) days. We will definitely return.

The decor inside and in the patio was nice. The waiter was very patient and tended well to all our questions. The food was excellent. Everything we had was really good. We went for a bday brunch and got the orange, mango, and cranberry mimosas for drinks. We mainly shared plates. First ordered the peach and pistachio burrata. That was excellent. Spicy chicken as waffles was great as well with its bacon jam and maple syrup ...yum. We also got the grilled octopus and seafood campechana. I did enjoy those but I think my favorite was the peach and pistachio burrata. And we all shared a main dish and that was a pasta with grilled chicken. The group seemed to enjoy that, it was filling and it had a lot of flavor.

My friends and I had a nice brunch during Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW). I had the Little Gem Salad and the Shakshuka. The salad was a good-sized portion and I enjoyed the crunch of the pomegranate seeds in it. I originally ordered the burger, and was informed that they had run out of burger buns. They were also out of Chilaquiles, which was a bit disappointing. My shakshuka ended up still being delicious, however it wasn't my first choice for an entree. The dish was both hearty and fresh with the large pieces of avocado and goat cheese. Otherwise the restaurant is fairly on the smaller size but would qualify as "IG-worthy" in my book, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating since I visited with a knee injury. Would return to try their dinner and cocktails.

HRW 2024! Came here with a group of 6 and did make reservations ahead of time. Arrived at 8pm and didn't get seated until 8:45pm. Apparently, there was another party sitting at our table. They were able to provide some comp drinks at the bar though. The classic margarita (no tajin available) was pretty strong. When we finally got seated, we ordered a couple apps + our HRW menu items. For additional apps, I really enjoyed the Tiger Prawn Wood Fire Skewers. They had a tasty red curry sauce that topped it off nicely and they were grilled well. Also got the Grilled Octopus and it was charred to perfection. The truffle potato croquettes were a nice addition as well and you could definitely taste/smell the truffle aroma. For HRW, I got the Peach & Pistachio Burrata (very refreshing and delicious), Lamb Chops (highly recommend!! Very tender meat and seasoned well) and to end with the White Chocolate Bread Pudding (tasty and paired well with the cold ice cream). The ambiance was very cutesy and instagram-esque worthy. The servers once we got seated were friendly and helpful. Parking - within the plaza Restrooms - Clean

Salmon Benedict- really? This is actually a head boil egg
    Thuy P.

Heard about this restaurant on IG and since we are in the HRW month, we decided to go. The restaurant ambiance is cute as in IG but the food as I expected not good. People go here more the vibes. Service is nice too. If it's not for the service I would have give one star for the food. The salmon eggs Benedict is horrible. Please let the chef know how to cook his eggs. I have never eat all boiled egg for my Benedict before. You can't overcook the eggs like that for Benedict. Potatoes are fried to a dark brown color . It actually looked like they got burned. Would I come back most likely no.

    Au Jus Burger

This was a cute and chic place to have lunch or brunch with friends! We went during Houston Restaurant Week and enjoyed the abbreviated menu along with a cocktail. I really liked the decor inside and we were seated at a booth with soft velvet cushions. Our server was very attentive and quick to answer any questions about the menu. The Oysters Rockefeller were delicious and the Au Jus burger was good. The fries were cooked to perfection and had a great crunch to them. The chicken skewer was good but not as flavorful. Both cocktails were a 7/10, which was okay, but for the price I was expecting a bit more. The Dutchess Rose dessert was delicious! I would visit again. If you're still reading and care, there were a few small things keeping the score at a 4. A few nit-picky things like 1/2 of the bathrooms being out of order and the super elegant bathroom having a hole in the floor covered awkwardly with tape. I saw a review from a week ago with the same set up so it wasn't just a temporary thing. I also saw the same thing as another reviewer about employee back packs being in chairs of the dining room. I'm used to seeing these type of things in "mom and pop" restaurants but not in elegant restaurants in this area of town. I only saw these things after eating and it didn't spoil the ambiance, but they're just things that detract slightly from the overall vibe.

There are books abound, along the walls, in the bathroom, everywhere. I had a glass of Experience, a Californian Cabernet Sauvignon. It was a good pour, not too little or too much and the taste was deep, well balanced and smooth. Since the event took place around dinner time I also had a Fig and Speck flatbread. The fig, prosciutto and other toppings complimented each other well. The flatbread dough itself was ok but could've benefited from a little more flavor such as some garlic, butter and herbs. I also would've liked it a bit thinner so I could taste less of the bread and more of those delicious toppings. Don't get me wrong it was good and I ate all of it but these are small suggestions I'd recommend to bring it to perfection. I could see parking and seating being tricky. I was fortunate to snag a parking spot on the side of the building near the auto place and once inside I found a seat at a table with a lovely couple, another couple joined us soon after. Many of the guests who arrived later stood at first and then halfway through the event, made their way to the floor where they sat cross legged. All in all, The Library was a nice establishment and although a little out of my way, I'd return for another event or if I were in the area again.

We ordered several tapas and one large plate half order. I don't know much about wine, personally, but the drinks we did get were amazing. The restaurant itself was very pretty as well, lots of natural lighting and then low lighting as the sun went down. The music was low and we were able to hear each other well, apart from one group across the room that would get rowdy but I can't blame them for having a good time. Our food was all delicious and I forgot to take pics of some of them because we devoured them so quickly. Not pictured, we ordered the grilled asparagus and focaccia. I highly recommend all of what we ordered.

First, we got there pretty early for our reservation. We sat almost immediately upon check in. Our waiter was in training but did a really good job. Ordered a whiskey sour. Was seated at the bar so I got to watch it be made. The bartender- man that guy never stopped. He was organized and just did his thing. So many pretty drinks were made while I was there watching. The pink one, whatever it was, was really pretty! On to the food. We got two apps, two meals, and two desserts. Husband ordered the Brussels, Steak Frites, and the Devil's Affogato. I got the Bacon covered Dates, the Pizza, and the Sticky Toffee Cake. The Brussels were good - husband liked them more than me. They were good. Had cashews in them. Little spicy. The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. The desserts - don't skip them! The Devils Affogato we had the first time we ate at Sixty Vines. Had to have it again. If you like coffee, chocolate and vanilla ice cream just get it. Unfortunately, just like my first visit, they were not fully met. We had reservations for brunch, and our party of six was seated immediately on the beautiful second floor. Service was efficient throughout the meal, with our waiter taking our orders promptly and the food arriving quickly. To start, we ordered the Brussels and the hummus. The Brussels were cooked very well and had an excellent crispy texture, but I felt the kung pao vinaigrette lacked the bold flavor I was expecting. A little more sweetness and acidity would have helped brighten the dish and make it more memorable. The hummus, on the other hand, pleasantly surprised me. Both the red beet hummus and edamame hummus were flavorful and enjoyable. They paired well with the crisp flatbread and even served as a nice accompaniment to some of our less exciting entrées. For my meal, I ordered the marinated artichoke pizza, which unfortunately did not stand out. I had the same issue that I experienced during my previous visit: the crust was simply too thick and chewy. After a few slices, my jaw was genuinely getting tired from all the chewing. The pizza also could have benefited from more bacon and a more generous amount of sauce, as it came across a bit dry overall. The campanelle suffered from a similar problem. While I understand that simplicity was likely the goal, the dish was so understated that it ended up feeling bland. It tasted like a slightly elevated version of buttered pasta with just a hint of white wine. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, but it lacked the depth of flavor needed to make it memorable. On a much more positive note, the carrot cake pancakes were easily the star of the meal. I tend to gravitate toward savory breakfasts, but my sister was eager to try them, and I am so glad she did. These were not your typical pancakes. They were thick, fluffy, and incredibly soft in the center. With toppings like maple butter, maple cream, mascarpone whip, candied walnuts, and cardamom sugar, I expected the dish to be overwhelmingly sweet. Surprisingly, everything was balanced quite well. While I cannot imagine finishing an entire plate by myself, anyone with a sweet tooth would absolutely love them. Overall, this restaurant continues to impress me with its atmosphere, service, and a few standout dishes, but the entrées I have tried have not lived up to the hype. If I were to return, I would happily order the hummus and carrot cake pancakes again, but I would probably skip the pizza and pasta in favor of trying something new.

I've had my fair share of Paulie's but never had the chance to come to Camerata...until now. I had been missing out for so long! We journeyed from white to red wines throughout the night. We started out with the Babylonstoren, a chenin blanc from South Africa. We then moved into pink (rose) with the Ana Beirut - a blend of cab sauv, syrah, and tempranillo grapes with a bit of skin contact to give the wine the pink color. Lastly we ordered the Guelbenzu - a red blend of tempranillo, cab sauv, syrah, and graciano. This full-bodied red was the absolute fan favorite of the table. Food options are on the light side: meat & cheese boards, bread, and small bites. We started out with the warm bread - while it's normally served with butter, there's an option to switch that out with olive oil & herbs which is what we did. We then went for the meat & cheese platter. We couldn't decide on which meats or cheeses, so we did the option of ordering all 8! This came with 4 delicious meats and 4 tasty cheeses (from Houston Dairymaids), also with crispy fava beans, olives, pickles, and bread. This was a good amount for our group of 4 to share. Elena was our server and she was absolutely OUTSTANDING. She vibed with us throughout the night and made sure that we were well-taken care of. I loved her energy along with her vast knowledge of wines. We got plenty of good recommendations from her during our time there. I'm super sad that Houston will be losing this gem permanently at the end of the year (and even more sad that I only discovered it in the last month of its existence). While I know that owner Paulie won't be moving this venture to a new spot, I do hope a descendant of Camerata manifests itself somewhere in Houston in the coming years.

It's part of the Paulie's Restaurant brands, but completely separate from the restaurant from what I could tell. Parking is a bit difficult, but after a bit of circling we were able to find a spot and make our way in what looked like the back entrance. It was very low key, and despite the sign, the door seemed almost hidden in that back little corner. The staff seemed to have a bit of a hipster vibe-- not unexpected given the Montrose area-- but were very friendly. They offered suggestions, but let us go with what we wanted to try. There's a food menu along with the drinks, but we were heading to the restaurant next door, so we passed on grabbing food. We ended up going with a couple of glasses of red and a couple of the specialty chocolates. My wife loved her salted caramel chocolate. I enjoyed my peppermint chocolate. For the glasses of wine, I've got better at home for bottles the same price as those glasses. My wife really enjoyed the vibe, but even if this place wasn't about to close down, I'm not sure I'd be coming back here often. It's just too hard to park.
