I love Davis str so decided to try their new Davis after dark function. We arrived at 10:40pm without a reservation and stood at the hostess stand for about 10 minutes until we flagged a waitress down who then got a hostess. Once the hostess arrived we were promptly seated. We ordered some of the specialty cocktails and they were horrible, we sent them back ordered margaritas that were just ok. The DJ started and the playlist was great! We decided to order quite a few items because we know Chef Holley and team never disappoint. The food arrived and was like warm and one item was cold the sticky ribs. The flavors were present and very tasty but I enjoy my food hot! The only item we did not like was the crab cake. While I like the idea of what they are trying to do, I will not be returning for this event.

Sunday I absolutely enjoyed my 5th visit this year to this fine establishment. The food was amazing as always. This is a great place to enjoy a meal guest from out of state. Our primary waiter was very personable and well informed about the food. Overall, the setting was lovely, pleasant music and a nice view of the street. Of course, I'll be going back, especially for the cucumber martini.

I always have a good experience with Davis Street. The food is on point, staff are always friendly, the pours are perfect! They are always worth the experience!

I went for their reverse happy hour. The drinks were not good. The staff was nice but service was slow

We love Davis St. this place is has such a strong southern fusion and seafood menu.... Chef Holley and his staff take care of every detail to make sure their guest are well kept.... we recently celebrated an 80th birthday and they went above and beyond to making the day special with private seating and a Champagne Toast....Cheers to good service and excellent food!

Chef Mark Holley is a man that knows his craft. We were regulars at his namesake restaurant, Holley's up until closure. Located near Hermann Park, Davis Street is unassuming yet inviting. Street parking is available around the area. Now for the visit itself. Food / Drink - 5* We came here for Houston Restaurant Week on this particular visit and the dishes did not disappoint. The Seafood Tortilla Soup had a nice kick and good portions of seafood. The salad was light and refreshing with fresh strawberries. The Korean Beef Wraps were a surprise, but the table enjoyed them. For entrees, the French Toast and Southern Egg Benedict did not disappoint and the chicken and waffles were killer. Definitely recommend any of them with a lean to the chicken and waffles. The drinks were great, albeit classics. The Bloody Mary was delicious with celery, olives, lime, and bacon. Service - 2* Here's where the entire visit fell short. From the jump our waiter was just extra pushy on upsells to the point we were all annoyed. The Bloody Mary states it comes with Texas Vodka. I said something to the effect of, "I'm good with what's listed on the menu, nothing extra needed." I reiterated, if Tito's is the Texas Vodka, great, but made it clear I was fine with regular whatever "Texas Vodka" they were using. He upcharged me for Tito's. The same for the other patrons in our party. They all were content with regular wells, but he twisted their arms to a point they felt uncomfortable saying no. When two others ordered another French 75 and made it clear to him "bottom shelf" or wells was more than fine, he still charged them for Hendricks. Look, nobody is unwilling to pay for something they want or drank, but don't push it or overtly go out of your way to charge for something the patron clearly doesn't want. We were all charged an upsell for every single cocktail because of his shady a$$ practices. Furthermore, the waiter seemed annoyed when we didn't say yes, but yet, we were still charged for it. He seemed to be disappointed when we didn't ALL order desserts (we were quite full so we split). Further, we were constantly having to ask for more water. And to top if off, we asked him to split the bill at the beginning and he did not. Atthe end, he seemed very annoyed he had to split it up. At the end of the day, we drank the cocktails so we'll pay it, but it isn't what we asked for in most cases. As some who have read my reviews know, I came from this industry, worked in it for years in both front and back side of the house, it put me on the path I am and paid many a bills for me - the worst thing a waiter can do to boost their total bill is pushy upsells. It completely ruins the experience, it makes the patrons less likely to return, and ultimately, that is bad for everyone. Chef Holley has a fantastic restaurant, but we were all left with hesitancy to return if this is the type of practice that exists. Cost - 4* The pricing for the regular menu was in line to what one would expect, and of course HRW menu is fixed pricing, with a few extras for specific dishes. Subjectively, no complaints here. Notably, we were charged 20% gratuity for a table of five. Not the end of the world, but my experience is this is usually reserved for 6 and up. It was particularly frustrating given the experience we had with the waiter. If I could have, I would have deducted solely for his behavior, which is on him exclusively. Overall - 3* Davis Street is another creation that delivers on flavor, Chef Holley and his team know what they're doing and it's evident in the sustained success he's had. That said, our experience fell short on service and left a damper on it, particularly since it was a birthday celebration as well. I would like to think this is an exception to the norm and maybe our waiter is just in it for himself rather than the business, but that ultimately hurts the business owner. Would I race back, probably not because of the experience but we would come back and explicitly seek another server.

Snapper, greens and rice were amazing enough for two people

The food and service were AMAZING. 40 of my employees surprised me with a going away dinner. Everything was hot and fresh. I was impressed with how they managed a party of 40+.

A good friend visited this week and we found this place on Google. We decided to eat dinner here I'm so glad we made this decision. The chargrilled oysters were delicious some of the best I've ever had!! We split the steak and fish entrees both equally delicious. The restaurant is great for a girls night or a date night loved the overall vibe! The customer service was unmatched as well I will definitely come back again.

We came here for Christmas dinner. The service was very nice. The interior is simple but not bad. The Christmas dinner were pretty festive. I probably will come back for happy hour if I am around.

Visited here for a birthday HH. Our server Jen was very sweet, attentive and HILARIOUS. She provided great recommendations and gave us ease when there was mishaps regarding our food timing. For drinks, I ordered the Jenn's Martini and while it was good, I was very disappointed with how long it took the bar to make our drinks. We waited about 30 minutes for our first round, with spike of our food coming out before our drinks. There was only one bartender, but the restaurant was fairly empty so we did not understand the delay. Jen stepped in and was able to assist with making sure we received our orders and our concerns heard. For the table, we nibbled on the Birria Grilled Cheese, Beef Sliders, Crispy Thai Shrimp (our fave!) and Charbroiled Oysters. All of the food was good, just wish the timing was more quick.

I have been here for brunch and dinner. The first experience was a 10/10. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for this past Friday. The hostess made a huge ordeal about my friend not responding to a text about the table. There were only two other tables of guests so I'm not sure what the issue was. Once we were sat the linen had multiple gnats on our table; too many to count. We were moved to a second table that was gnat free but the wine glass had another insect in it. To be honest we began to question if we should dine here. After reassurance from the staff that the kitchen was in fact clean we decided to stay. The food was good especially the rolls, shrimp and gumbo. The gumbo had the most tender pieces of duck and I'm definitely craving more writing this. Q was a phenomenal server!! Make sure to ask for him

First, the vibe. It is warm, stylish, and very Montrose in the best way. It feels elevated but still relaxed enough to just sit, talk, and enjoy your time without feeling rushed. We came during happy hour and it was such a great deal. I ordered the Sweet Like Peach Tree, which was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced with the peach and ginger. My husband got the Frozen Paloma and it was just as good, super smooth with the right citrus bite. We also shared the churros and they were honestly a must order. Warm, crispy, and paired with Nutella and caramel. What really made the experience stand out though was our bartender, Manny. He was incredibly welcoming from the moment we sat down, had such a great personality, and made the whole experience feel personal. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that kind of service is hard to find. He also told us about their upcoming two year anniversary party on May 3rd with rotating live DJs, which sounds like it will be such a fun time. We will definitely be back. They have bingo nights, dj nights, and other themed events that keep the place packed out. Maybe once I try the burgers, it'll be 5 stars, but the smallll parking lot and lack of safe street parking keep me at 4.

Considering the recent shutter of other places (#2) within the hospitality umbrella, it's not too big of a surprise that Wooster's would also be in the crosshairs. The space was always a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, which combined with its dedicated parking lot made this an easy drinking outlet for all kinds of occasions. The intimate indoor space was lovely and well ventilated, and it felt like there wasn't ever a moment where the bar wasn't slammed. The outdoor space was much of the same, with lots of tables and chairs, and even the trendy swing chairs facing the city. The only thing that was a little bit of a liability were those open flame heaters; it would only take on person to accidentally walk into one or trip onto it. For libations, the drinks were well priced, well made, and always potent. I appreciated the aesthetics, as well as the bartenders who made them. The only part that wasn't exciting was the limited food menu, which did its part as munchies for the drink heavy crowd, but was mediocre otherwise. The space is already undergoing the new facelift of a separate concept, one of which I hope will do the area justice, just as much as Wooster's did. ____________ (#1) The Kirby Group. (#2) R.I.P. I asked for something tropical and not too sweet. It was pretty good but not as complex as the catch 22. My husband liked the jaded merchant better than the dew drop. You are drawn, the way one is drawn to a place that promises honesty with a wink. It wears the posture of a dive but carries itself with intention, a little bohem, a little defiant, and entirely comfortable in its own skin. The bar hums with craft. Cocktails arrive balanced and deliberate, built by hands that understand restraint as much as flair. Nothing shouts. Nothing apologizes. Each glass feels considered, as though the bartender paused just long enough to ask what kind of night you were hoping to have, then answered without speaking. The staff moves easily, quick with wit and generous with attention, treating regulars and first-timers as if both had already earned their place. The decor tells its own quiet rebellion. Mismatched, layered, worn just enough to feel lived in, it carries the sense that stories have been told here and will be told again. And then there are the bathrooms, unisex and unashamed, their walls papered with vintage Playboy centerfolds that celebrate the female form not as spectacle but as art. Tasteful, sexy, unapologetic. A reminder that admiration can exist without crudeness, that beauty does not need permission to be acknowledged. The Two Headed Dog is less a bar than a posture toward the world. It resists neat categories. Not quite dive, not quite cocktail lounge, not quite anything else that could be reduced to a label. It is a place for those who appreciate craft without pretension, sensuality without excess, and atmosphere without artifice. In a city that thrives on reinvention, this bar stands firm, confident enough to be exactly what it is and nothing more.

I ate at Norigami Tuesday night and it was great as were the cocktails served up at the nextdoor bar called Hidden Bar. On Tuesday, I tried the Thai Chili Ginger Margarita ($13) and it was great, complete with a hunk of candied ginger which I "gingerly" consumed throughout my drink experience...see what I did there? Next, I had the Three Dots and a Daiquiri ($13) with Rum, Lime, Velvet Falernum, All Spice and Pineapple and it was very similar to one of my favorite tiki drinks, the Three Dots and a Dash, complete with 3 luxardo cherries. To finish, I had the absolutely incredible Golden Laurel ($16) with Gin, Italicus Bergamot, House Greek Botanical Bitters and Sea Salt. It is equally beautiful served with a clear bay leaf and delicious. It looks like the drink that I ordered is also no longer on the menu. The bar prides itself on having a rotating meal changing menu so I think that's a lot of fun when it comes to trying new drinks and new combinations and it truly shows the artistry of the bartender. There was the option of both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was more of a dimmer, elegant and darker tone. I can see it being pretty classic if you were to go at night time. The bar set up was really beautiful and they had different 2 to 4 seating wooden tables. Overall, the inside would probably only fit around 20 people. I was very sad because we couldn't sit outside. The bartender came out of the bar to take orders, give menus and give you the check. I will say that it got really busy at the end and it took a while to get our check. There's only one or two bartenders working at one time so if there's multiple people with different drinks that are ordered, it will take a little bit longer. Service (3/5): While we had a waitress, she was slow to greet us and slow to check up on us. It's a small bar and there isn't a ton of seating so it's not like she was overwhelmed. For a fancy hotel, you expect better. Maybe sitting at the bar is better than sitting at some seats as we did. Ambiance (4/5): The Colombe d'Or is a beautiful hotel and Bar No. 3 reflects that. It's an elegant spot to grab a drink, although small. Food (N/A): While there are expensive items on the menu, I had dinner earlier that night so I was on a liquid diet. Drinks (3/5): Bar No. 3 is known for its cocktails so I focused on the cocktail list. The list isn't large but it features a nice selection. Like the food, you're going to pay a premium. I enjoyed my adult beverage but felt like it was a bit overpriced. Hitting up hotel bars isn't a common occurrence in Houston unless you're a traveler. For Bar No. 3 to be the only hotel bar on Houstonia's top 50 is a feat in itself.
