Despite visiting frequently, I've consistently found the customer service to be unwelcoming. The service has a strange tone, and it isn't limited to one employee they all seem to share the same indifferent, slightly annoyed demeanor. The experience feels less like genuine hospitality and more like, "You're here what can I get you?" On my most recent visit, others in my group noticed and commented on the same thing without any prompting from me. Since they had never been before, it confirmed that it wasn't just my perception. One small interaction captured the overall tone. We asked whether they happened to have a birthday candle, and an employee responded in an annoyed tone by pointing to the candle on our table which, realistically, no one would put on a birthday dessert. We completely understood that they might not have one; it wasn't an unreasonable expectation or request. A simple, friendly response like, "Unfortunately, we don't, but we do have some delicious desserts," would have been perfectly fine. It wasn't the answer that bothered us. it was the way we were made to feel for asking. It may seem like a small interaction, but great hospitality is built on small moments. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting, but unfortunately, the service doesn't reflect that same feeling. People return to places where they feel welcomed and appreciated, especially in a city like Houston with so many wonderful food and wine options. I I patroned The Library recently, the date of the Artemis II launch actually and coincidentally. I was there for an intellectual after work space talk event on "What the Universe is Made Of." The ambience of The Library fits its name to a t. There are books abound, along the walls, in the bathroom, everywhere. I had a glass of Experience, a Californian Cabernet Sauvignon. It was a good pour, not too little or too much and the taste was deep, well balanced and smooth. Since the event took place around dinner time I also had a Fig and Speck flatbread. The fig, prosciutto and other toppings complimented each other well. The flatbread dough itself was ok but could've benefited from a little more flavor such as some garlic, butter and herbs. I also would've liked it a bit thinner so I could taste less of the bread and more of those delicious toppings. Don't get me wrong it was good and I ate all of it but these are small suggestions I'd recommend to bring it to perfection. I could see parking and seating being tricky. I was fortunate to snag a parking spot on the side of the building near the auto place and once inside I found a seat at a table with a lovely couple, another couple joined us soon after. Many of the guests who arrived later stood at first and then halfway through the event, made their way to the floor where they sat cross legged. I really enjoyed my first visit here! From the moment I walked in, I instantly fell in love with the aesthetics of the place!! It's such a cozy and inviting spot to sip wine, read a book, or even chat with friends. My friend and I were lucky enough to grab the only two available booths, which made me so happy. Once we sat down, the staff promptly brought us menus, giving us plenty of time to look over everything. I loved that we were able to create our own boards and choose our own meats and cheeses. Their selection was both unique and delicious, especially the fennel salami, which was definitely a fav! We also ordered the sardines, and they ended up being my absolute favorite dish of the night. I've wanted to visit The Library since I heard about it and finally I had the chance. This place is so cute. As a librarian I was confused by the books at first but then my friend and I understood which made it even more fascinating. The staff was nice and helpful. I do wish they had a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, but outside of that we had a great time as we only came for one drink and then left. I came here on a Wednesday evening for a group happy hour. I've heard great things about this place and it's very assuming, tucked within a shopping center in Spring Branch. The vibe inside is super cute with mood lighting and plenty of intimate seating spaced throughout. Parking in said shopping center is sparse. I'm not sure if parking is allowed at the neighboring businesses after hours, but I wanted to play it safe and ended up waiting about 15 minutes for someone to vacate their space. Our group had a couple of tables reserved and they had no problem having everyone pay on separate tabs. Service is offered both at the table and bar. Our waiter was attentive and had great recommendations for wine. When I was conflicted between two whites, he graciously brought me out both to taste and decide. I went with the Cacciabruco Malvasia/Trebbiano, which is a skin-contact white wine, so it had more of a reddish hue to it and almost looked like a rose in the dim lighting of the restaurant. I really liked this, as it was on the drier side and satisfied my palate more than the Gewürztraminer that I had also sampled. I didn't try the food but others in our party really liked the flatbreads they ordered. I do want to try these out next time because I know they will pair great with the wine! I'm glad I finally discovered this place! I'll definitely be back for happy hour and even a date night. The wines here are fantastic, and I enjoyed their burrata dish as well as their cheese and charcuterie board. We did the "pick 6" option, and there's an array of cheeses and meats to select from. I thought the portion was a bit on the small side for the cheeses and meats, but they were tasty. The vibe is unique and chic. There are couches with low tables, standard tables, and booths. I literally ate almost the whole thing by myself lol. As for drinks, I got the Oka "Sansho Yuzu" Japanese Bermutto. My mistake seeing "yuzu" thinking it was going to taste like citrus but all I could taste was the vermouth. It wasn't my favorite type of drink but I am glad that I tried it. My friend got the Lillet Rose Spritz and this was really good! Not too sweet, not too strong, very cute drink. I don't remember our server's name but she was very nice and attentive. I absolutely love the old book shop feel. It's a small, cozy bar located in the Spring Branch community. Very chill vibe for a small group, date, or solo. They have an entire book of wine choices. Before I went, I had read the Google reviews, and all I saw was people complaining about the fact that people were disappointed this was not a real library. Not sure if people were just trolling, or truly confused by the name of the place versus what they offered? Either way, those reviews need to be taken down. When I actually arrived, I thought the place was cutely designed. Love the idea of being surrounded by books. Drinks- I created my own wine flight. By doing a half pour glass of all 3 sparkling wines: Gruhier Crement, German Gilbert Cava Rose, Lambrusco. I was pretty nice. Service - was pretty good. Karl and another server, provided friendly service. Love that every receipt has book titles on them, very creative. Wine choice was Irpinia Aglianico from Toscana Italy by Bellaria Roccabascerana . This southern Italian wine with largely volcanic and granitic soil offers a bold wine with blackberry plum notes , truffle earthy notes with red fruit cherry notes. Finale: their gelato trio with pistachio, strawberry and stracciatella sweet cream with chocolate chips was a great ending to an excellent meal. Big ripe and juicy wine with dense tanins with black fruit flavors with fresh violets and black raspberry ,plum skin , black pepper and gravely earth aged in stainless steel without added sulfites. What didn't go well!! When you walk up to the business you don't really get a feel for what to expect till u cross the threshold. The vibe is so low key and welcoming. The staff is quick to get you seated and have great recommendations when you need a little help deciding what wine you would or should taste. Spring branch doesn't really have that many good places so I was really excited to try out this place. I thought the place was lovely. I loved the decor and ambiance. Our server was funny and took good care of us. There were so many options to choose from. However I was kinda underwhelmed with how bland the flat bread was. We politely asked for pepper, and the waitress looked very confused and didn't know if they had some which was super strange. The parking situation was slightly annoying.
