The Library is truly a gem in my neighborhood. I'm always excited to bring friends who are visiting Houston or don't live nearby. The décor, wine list, menu, comfortable seating, and cozy atmosphere make it such a special spot. They offer wines for every taste and budget, and the staff is knowledgeable when asked for recommendations. That's why this is difficult for me to write. Despite visiting frequently, I've consistently found the customer service to be unwelcoming. The service has a strange tone, and it isn't limited to one employee they all seem to share the same indifferent, slightly annoyed demeanor. The experience feels less like genuine hospitality and more like, "You're here what can I get you?" On my most recent visit, others in my group noticed and commented on the same thing without any prompting from me. Since they had never been before, it confirmed that it wasn't just my perception. One small interaction captured the overall tone. We asked whether they happened to have a birthday candle, and an employee responded in an annoyed tone by pointing to the candle on our table which, realistically, no one would put on a birthday dessert. We completely understood that they might not have one; it wasn't an unreasonable expectation or request. A simple, friendly response like, "Unfortunately, we don't, but we do have some delicious desserts," would have been perfectly fine. It wasn't the answer that bothered us. it was the way we were made to feel for asking. It may seem like a small interaction, but great hospitality is built on small moments. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting, but unfortunately, the service doesn't reflect that same feeling. People return to places where they feel welcomed and appreciated, especially in a city like Houston with so many wonderful food and wine options. I I patroned The Library recently, the date of the Artemis II launch actually and coincidentally. I was there for an intellectual after work space talk event on "What the Universe is Made Of." The ambience of The Library fits its name to a t. There are books abound, along the walls, in the bathroom, everywhere. I had a glass of Experience, a Californian Cabernet Sauvignon. It was a good pour, not too little or too much and the taste was deep, well balanced and smooth. Since the event took place around dinner time I also had a Fig and Speck flatbread. The fig, prosciutto and other toppings complimented each other well. The flatbread dough itself was ok but could've benefited from a little more flavor such as some garlic, butter and herbs. I also would've liked it a bit thinner so I could taste less of the bread and more of those delicious toppings. Don't get me wrong it was good and I ate all of it but these are small suggestions I'd recommend to bring it to perfection. I could see parking and seating being tricky. I was fortunate to snag a parking spot on the side of the building near the auto place and once inside I found a seat at a table with a lovely couple, another couple joined us soon after. Many of the guests who arrived later stood at first and then halfway through the event, made their way to the floor where they sat cross legged. I've wanted to visit The Library since I heard about it and finally I had the chance. This place is so cute. As a librarian I was confused by the books at first but then my friend and I understood which made it even more fascinating. The staff was nice and helpful. I do wish they had a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, but outside of that we had a great time as we only came for one drink and then left. I can't wait to go back and try some of their light bites and other wine. read more

I really enjoyed my first visit here! From the moment I walked in, I instantly fell in love with the aesthetics of the place!! It's such a cozy and inviting spot to sip wine, read a book, or even chat with friends. My friend and I were lucky enough to grab the only two available booths, which made me so happy. Once we sat down, the staff promptly brought us menus, giving us plenty of time to look over everything. I loved that we were able to create our own boards and choose our own meats and cheeses. Their selection was both unique and delicious, especially the fennel salami, which was definitely a fav! We also ordered the sardines, and they ended up being my absolute favorite dish of the night. I haven't stopped thinking about it!! To pair with our food, I had a sparkling rosé, which I highly recommend for anyone who enjoys bubbles!! It was crisp, refreshing, and complemented everything so perfectly. For dessert, we went with a simple Neapolitan gelato (you can also choose the flavors separately). It was decent, though nothing extraordinary... I'll probably try a different dessert next time. Overall, I definitely recommend visiting this spot! Went to the Library for the first time the other night, after a bad day at work just wanting to have a glass of wine and read a little to unwind. Every person i talked to made me feel welcome and taken care of, Carl specifically was extremely kind and fun to talk to, and the wine was excellent. I came here on a Wednesday evening for a group happy hour. I've heard great things about this place and it's very assuming, tucked within a shopping center in Spring Branch. The vibe inside is super cute with mood lighting and plenty of intimate seating spaced throughout. Parking in said shopping center is sparse. I'm not sure if parking is allowed at the neighboring businesses after hours, but I wanted to play it safe and ended up waiting about 15 minutes for someone to vacate their space. Our group had a couple of tables reserved and they had no problem having everyone pay on separate tabs. Service is offered both at the table and bar. Our waiter was attentive and had great recommendations for wine. When I was conflicted between two whites, he graciously brought me out both to taste and decide. I went with the Cacciabruco Malvasia/Trebbiano, which is a skin-contact white wine, so it had more of a reddish hue to it and almost looked like a rose in the dim lighting of the restaurant. I really liked this, as it was on the drier side and satisfied my palate more than the Gewürztraminer that I had also sampled. I didn't try the food but others in our party really liked the flatbreads they ordered. I do want to try these out next time because I know they will pair great with the wine! I'm glad I finally discovered this place! I'll definitely be back for happy hour and even a date night. With so many good places popping up in in Spring Branch, I'm sure this will become a regular spot for drinks before dinner read more

What a beautiful gem tucked away in the Spring Branch neighborhood! It takes the corner spot and shares the plaza with a claw machine place and a few other places! Pros: love the ambience, the vibes, the wall of wine selections and the cozy rounded booths and an upscale "Central Perk" coffee shop feel! Absolutely loved the comfy lounge seating and extensive menu! Service was good, not great. Cons: food menu! I feel like it could use a few more appetizers...IMO...also, we ordered the bar nuts and the fig flatbread with basil pesto...I could def use more pesto! Came here on 2 occasions - once for wine and once to also try their food. The service here is very friendly - staff will go out of their way to make your visit comfortable and pleasant. The wines here are fantastic, and I enjoyed their burrata dish as well as their cheese and charcuterie board. We did the "pick 6" option, and there's an array of cheeses and meats to select from. I thought the portion was a bit on the small side for the cheeses and meats, but they were tasty. The vibe is unique and chic. There are couches with low tables, standard tables, and booths. Very cute place!! Stopped by during Valentine's Day and it was very cozy and intimate inside. I have seen this place on tiktok so I couldn't wait to try this place out. I ordered the margherita flatbread and added prosciutto to it and omg.. it was SO good!! Very flavorful, crispy, and the prosciutto elevated the whole thing so much. I literally ate almost the whole thing by myself lol. As for drinks, I got the Oka "Sansho Yuzu" Japanese Bermutto. My mistake seeing "yuzu" thinking it was going to taste like citrus but all I could taste was the vermouth. It wasn't my favorite type of drink but I am glad that I tried it. My friend got the Lillet Rose Spritz and this was really good! Not too sweet, not too strong, very cute drink. I don't remember our server's name but she was very nice and attentive. She would check in on us to make sure we needed water and if the drinks/food was to our liking. I regret not coming to The Library sooner. I've been eyeing it for a while, but was hesitant go by myself. Well, a friend of mine came to visit me and we decided to stop by. So glad we did! I absolutely love the old book shop feel. It's a small, cozy bar located in the Spring Branch community. Very chill vibe for a small group, date, or solo. They have an entire book of wine choices. They also have light bites that include flatbreads, salads, and charcuterie boards. Our server was nice and knowledgeable of the various wines. I told him I wanted a red wine and he asked me key questions to help me figure out just what I wanted. His recommendation was good! Just do not remember the name. Came on a Saturday afternoon, for a GNO, for the first time. Before I went, I had read the Google reviews, and all I saw was people complaining about the fact that people were disappointed this was not a real library. Not sure if people were just trolling, or truly confused by the name of the place versus what they offered? Either way, those reviews need to be taken down. When I actually arrived, I thought the place was cutely designed. Love the idea of being surrounded by books. Drinks- I created my own wine flight. By doing a half pour glass of all 3 sparkling wines: Gruhier Crement, German Gilbert Cava Rose, Lambrusco. I was pretty nice. Service - was pretty good. Karl and another server, provided friendly service. Love that every receipt has book titles on them, very creative. Because of all the books, I almost wish it was more cozy, so you could curl up and read and drink solo. Crowd was mostly groups, or folks on dates. read more

On our 2nd visit to the Library wine and Bar , we had equally excellent service from Carl who gave us a great explanation of new wines on their changing menu. The garden flatbread with basil, pesto, smoked feta, mozzarella,baked squash,roasted pepper, garlic confit shallots with arugula was the right mix of fresh herbs balanced with vegetables. Wine choice was Irpinia Aglianico from Toscana Italy by Bellaria Roccabascerana . This southern Italian wine with largely volcanic and granitic soil offers a bold wine with blackberry plum notes , truffle earthy notes with red fruit cherry notes. Finale: their gelato trio with pistachio, strawberry and stracciatella sweet cream with chocolate chips was a great ending to an excellent meal. The library is set in Spring Branch with ample places to park if come early with comfortable seating and a casual upscale atmosphere that welcomes all. Looking forward to a return visit . read more

When The Library Wine Bar popped up on my Yelp feed I knew had to check it out. We had just finished dinner out but could not resist a stop at this local wine bar in Spring Branch. No lie, we had at least 5 wait staff check on us , refill our water glasses without asking and ask if we needed anything else. We had 3 types of gelato that were scrumptious in generous portions for $7. Wine choice: off the beaten path wine selection of Domaine d'homs "Vindici Maux" Malbec Cahors 2020. Big ripe and juicy wine with dense tanins with black fruit flavors with fresh violets and black raspberry ,plum skin , black pepper and gravely earth aged in stainless steel without added sulfites. I truly enjoyed the library with my girls . When I first entered, I was stared at for a quick second as if I wasn't supposed to be at this wine establishment but I quickly got over that. Spring branch doesn't really have that many good places so I was really excited to try out this place. I thought the place was lovely. I loved the decor and ambiance. Our server was funny and took good care of us. There were so many options to choose from. However I was kinda underwhelmed with how bland the flat bread was.
