I've been to several wine dinners here and it's always a great time. The speaker before each course always had such wonderful stories. You can tell he really loves what he does in making the wines. They've received several awards from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and he always takes a moment to recognize the volunteers of that organization too. The staff is always super polite. You're telling me there's a local winery in Houston near I-10 with actual grapes growing? Such a cool find. The space is pretty and welcoming with friendly staff, open walls, and big windows. I sat on the patio with some girlfriends with memberships who invited me out for the day. It overlooks a few rows of vines along with herbs and vegetables, which makes it feel peacefully designed. The cheese board was fantastic with a generous spread and variety. The wines were lovely too with bottles from different regions. If you're in Houston I recommend checking out Nice Winery and considering a membership. My friends all do the monthly one red and one white option, pick up at the winery, and enjoy a glass together on the patio. It is a great spot for a relaxed day!. read more

I attended a wine tasting with college sisters this week. Nice Winery is such a nice haven in the midst of a busy city. Upon arrival, we had time to peruse wines and chat in the rustic lobby. Then our educator Katie gathered us and led us to the Founders' Room, where we found wine, charcuterie and coziness awaiting. We sampled six wines, including two from their charity series and one from their virtue series. Katie walked us through how they became involved with charities, the meaning behind their virtue wines, and what Nice does to create and partner with other vineyard producing sustainable wines. We walked the property, seeing where grapes, herbs and other fruits are grown. This visit was a delight. As a non wine connoisseur, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and will likely visit again. read more

The wine tasting experience was excellent. The hostess did a great job explaining the wines, and the parings, giving a tour of the facility and some education on how wine is made. Overall I would give her 5 stars. She is -using the rating up to a 4 star vs. a 2 or 3. The cost was $70 per person, there were two of us and I pre purchased a bottle of the signature wine $125. With tax and gratuity just under $400. We were asked to be there 15 mins prior and the calendar invite is for 4:15 we were there as requested and the tasting experience started at 4:26. Not a problem starting late we were told just hang out and they will let us know when things are ready. We went outside since there was no room inside for us to sit. We saw a table that was open so we sat waiting. One worker walked past did not say anything, after a few min a guy came up and kicked us off the table and said they are only for members. I was a bit bother by the situation as well as how it was handled. It was on the rude side vs. "I know you are waiting on the wine tasting experience, and it is a beautiful day to be outside, however these tables are for our members so could you be so kind to wait inside, I'm really sorry however, greatly appreciate your patience ". Nothing even close to this occurred. So we went back inside and stood around for about 15/20 min waiting for the tasting experience to begin. Standing around waiting is not a problem, however, we are at a winery so some complementary short glass of wine while waiting seems appropriate. Again if it were not for the actual wine tasting experience I would have left a two star maybe three at best. We just did not feel welcomed outside of the lady doing the wine tasting event, she was great! Would I visit again, Im not sure if I would. I was recommended to us and would I recommend, I'm not sure if I would do that either. Undecided. I do leave review on yelp and google so will cut and past this review there as well. read more

Look...if it's not evident from my nearly 1000 Yelp reviews, I have a deep appreciation for good quality food and drinks. I can confidently say that Nice Winery is one of the most enjoyable places I've been to have food and wine in Houston! One of my friends is a club member here so I've had the pleasure of doing a wine tasting with the charcuterie board and tour of the property, going to the Argentina wine dinner, and of course sampling multiple bottles she's been generous enough to share. All of the wines I've tried have been excellent! On my most recent visit for the Argentina wine dinner, I came home with a Malbec DOC and sparkling sec. Every course of the meal was fantastic, from the heirloom corn empanada with a delicious smokiness, to the incredible alfajor cookie. I need to improve my memory for names. We were led here by Saint Valentine. When calling, we were told no reservations were needed, though it seems Valentine's Day was an exception. Upon arriving, the host was fantastic! She made us feel as if we had a reservation, treated us with dignity and respect, and kindly explained it was a members-only event while guiding us through the vineyard. We sampled some wine, took a brief but pleasant walk around the venue. It was impressive and warm--though brief, our 10-minute visit felt complete and special. I wish I had caught your name, but as a business owner, I would be so proud to have her as the first friendly face customers see. When I heard there was a winery near I10 and the Beltway I was more than a little skeptical, but after having a few bottles that my wife brought home after a tasting and hanging on the patio today, I see I was wrong. If you're on the patio, you get the sense you're in the countryside (especially because the big-killing chickens are running around) even though you're in the middle of Houston. "Winery in Houston?? Mehh" That was my initial reaction when I found out about Nice winery. After doing some more research, I decided to give it a shot and came here with my fiance to try out their wine and food pairing event. I have to say that I am very happy that I checked out Nice Winery. The event was fun, and I thought everyone who worked at the winery was super nice (no pun intended :P ) and very knowledgeable. I was also impressed by how down-to-earth and humble the winemakers were and how they care about sustainability, being organic, and supporting small and family-owned businesses. There are no chemicals added to these wines, making them very rare (and no hangovers!) Having lived in S.F., we have been to wineries in Napa such as Promontory, Pride, and Heron House and decided to join the Nice Wine club instead. (We also took home Nice winery's award-winning Texas white wine to try it!) It's still surreal and unbelievable that a place like this exists in Houston, and I feel fortunate that I discovered this place. We can't wait to go back for future events! P.S. One request to the winery. We would love for Nice to do some blind tasting classes to learn more about how to taste wine. I went for a wine and food tasting with two friends on Saturday and had the absolute best time. The wines were superb, the food delicious (and unique) and the venue was beautiful. I was not familiar with the winery so I had few expectations. Wow! It was such a treat. They make wines not only in Houston (one vintage) but all over... that's why their wines are so delicious. They use the best grapes in the best parts of the world to make their wines. And they love to support other small wineries by selling those wines as well. Their food pairings were inspired! I found The Nice Winery totally by accident. I had just moved to Houston 2017 and had to get an EZ-tag off of BW 8. While I was searching for a parking spot. The universe shined down on me and "The Nice Winery " was right in front of me. After, taking care of my EZtag account. I went into to check out the winery. I signed up as a member that day and the staff and family folks are wonderful! Very welcoming and their events are never a disappointment. If you have a passion for wine as I do The Nice Winery is the place! They are a family owned business complete with Owner/Sommelier and a private chef on staff. Farm to table organic wine and food. It's bougie and fun! Their wines are phenomenal and reasonably priced. You can even get a lovely "Real" champagne! They're big on wine education and all the staff is extremely helpful and kind. They've since moved the location to BW 8 & Westview. I'm amazed with all the people they serve they recognize me by name every time I drop in or attend an event. read more

Admittedly, I don't know much about wine. So, we attended the Wine 101 class to learn more. Wow, we are now dangerously educated. We can confidently read a wine menu and talk to a restaurant sommelier in a way that should guarantee we get wine that we will enjoy. The class was fun. Everyone had a good time and learned. Our instructor was well versed and was able to impart his knowledge to everyone that attended. He was also entertaining. Several of us decided to join the winery after the class. Wait, I have not said a thing about the wine yet. Well the wine is awesome. They have wine making partners in Argentina and Napa and I think a few other places. So yes they have Texas wines but also bring you international award winning wine monthly that they themself. Make around the world. That's about it. I can't say enough good things about this place. I had the pleasure of attending a wine tasting at The Nice Winey in it's new location. It was an amazing experience. The winery itself is beautiful. We tasted 6 wines and had awesome food paring bites with each one. Ryan did a wonderful job of talking about each wine, with great stories about them. (For example, the history of the grape or about the particular vineyard that they collaborate with.) I could listen to Ryan all day- I love his knowledge and passion about food and wine. Also the food parings, which were homemade with locally sourced ingredient, were described and explained and delicious. The tour was fun- getting to see the grapevines and chickens and the huge wine tank. We are planning to have a family event at the winery next year and we can't wait. This is our favorite spot in Houston! We first did a tasting back in 2014, but were not able to become members at the time. When the pandemic hit in 2020, I told my husband I wanted to become a member as my Mother's Day gift, but not just for one month...permanently! It is the gift that keeps on giving! Not only has the wine club allowed us to taste wine we otherwise would not know about, but the tastings and dinners they host are out of this world! Chef Randy is a culinary genius. He has not made anything we do not like. Ryan is so knowledgeable and down to earth. He gave us suggestions for a trip to Napa and made that trip incredible because we were able to visit small, family owned wineries, most of whom we had tried through the wine club, and not tourist traps. Service is always incredible! They get to know you by name and are always kind and welcoming! Yes, you do need a reservation for a tasting, but it is worth it! And honestly it keeps the place from being too crowded, so they can continue to provide great service. Their wine is so good that we can no longer buy wine at liquor stores or grocery stores. Book a tasting or a dinner and become immersed in their knowledge. Nice winery is a little piece of Napa in Houston! Yes, they do make wines with grapes from places other than Napa, such as Argentina, Washington, and even Texas. What a great experience! One of our group put together a wine dinner at this unassuming "winery" in an industrial park on the West Sam Houston Parkway, and it was a fantastic surprise. Our evening started with charcuterie and cheeses, along with the $20 Nice Santa Julia Brut Rose Pinot Noir from Mendoza, Argentina, a pleasant sparkling wine, which carried over to the first course of crispy blue-cheese stuffed olives, presented on toothpicks to form a tree. While a little salty to my taste, they were a big hit at the tables. The next course was a lemon-barley risotto with summer squash, paired with the $22 2012 Nice Sauvignon Blanc, also from Mendoza. This Sauvignon Blanc had a more subtle aroma and taste than most others we've tasted, and paired beautifully with the food. We moved on to a pan-seared steelhead trout with tarragon butter, served with asparagus, paired with a $26 2011 Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon, a Chardonnay which matched very well with the fish. The fourth course was a chicken cassoulet with fresh fava beans, paired with the $33.99 2010 Nice Malbec Reserve, another Mendoza wine, possibly the hit of the evening. Next up was a roughly 4-oz prime beef tenderloin with shitake-gorgonzola sauce, served with two cabs: the $22 Nice Testamento, a lighter wine from Mendoza, and then the $60 Napa Valley 2011 Nice "Notorious", a noseful and mouthful of wine. Our dessert was a delicious Alsatian plum tart, served with almond ice cream, and paired with the 2012 Nice Demi-Sec Muscat of Alexandria of Mendoza. Frankly, this wine was not well-received at our table, as it had an off-putting flavor. The cost of the entire dinner--$110 per person, all-inclusive. Our group plans to do this on a roughy quarterly basis. Requirement is that you have a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 28 people, and that payment is in advance. As I understand it, the menu changes, based on what ingredients are freshest and available. All wine prices quoted above are full retail. They have a wine club which offers members AT LEAST a 20% discount on bottle prices--in the case of the Malbec, the discount was 35% on the 750 ml bottles. read more

Wouldn't work with us in regards to crazy weather that happened tonight that caused 5 couples from our group to be unable to attend. There was literal hail on the way there. We paid $1700 including tax before even arriving. With those in attendance, our bill would have been $900+tax. They offered two of their $30 bottles as a consolation gift. We would have happily paid the $1000 minimum, but feel completely ripped off. My husband and I spend a fair amount on fine wine and will never be back. Paid nearly $100/person for 1oz pours of their basics. I could have gone to Napa. Save your money and go to places like Abouzy and Camerata that serve great wines (camerata will sell organic and natural wine) without the hassle. Will not be back. read more

I love supporting a local winery that gives back so much to the community, and all the wines we tasted were amazing (and organically farmed). Ryan and Ian make great wines from specific varietals in the places where those particular varietals grow best and bring them to Houston. Take their Malbec, for example. They make it in Argentina where Malbecs are known to be excellent. Their Melbec is great year in and year out and made a Malbec drinker out of this non-Malbec drinker. They also make a number of other wines from Cab to Sauvignon Blanc so there is something for every palette. On top of the wines that they make, they have a carefully-chosen array of wines from all over the world that they both sell and distribute in their wine club. I'm almost always thinking of what I'm going to eat with the wine that I drink and while Nice does offer some straight-up "drinking" wines, I think the variety of great food wines they have is one place where they really shine. They do offer some in-house classes and do events at restaurants but the easiest way to taste their wines is at their "wine bar" events which they run at the winery on Friday nights. I will definitely be spending a few more Friday nights going these! read more
