Argentina wine dinner - dessert course
    Christy P.

Look...if it's not evident from my nearly 1000 Yelp reviews, I have a deep appreciation for good quality food and drinks. I can confidently say that Nice Winery is one of the most enjoyable places I've been to have food and wine in Houston! One of my friends is a club member here so I've had the pleasure of doing a wine tasting with the charcuterie board and tour of the property, going to the Argentina wine dinner, and of course sampling multiple bottles she's been generous enough to share. All of the wines I've tried have been excellent! On my most recent visit for the Argentina wine dinner, I came home with a Malbec DOC and sparkling sec. Every course of the meal was fantastic, from the heirloom corn empanada with a delicious smokiness, to the incredible alfajor cookie. I would highly recommend one of their events for a special evening, and getting some of their wines to accompany a meal cooked at home.

The wine tasting experience was excellent. The hostess did a great job explaining the wines, and the parings, giving a tour of the facility and some education on how wine is made. Overall I would give her 5 stars. She is -using the rating up to a 4 star vs. a 2 or 3. The cost was $70 per person, there were two of us and I pre purchased a bottle of the signature wine $125. With tax and gratuity just under $400. We were asked to be there 15 mins prior and the calendar invite is for 4:15 we were there as requested and the tasting experience started at 4:26. Not a problem starting late we were told just hang out and they will let us know when things are ready. We went outside since there was no room inside for us to sit. We saw a table that was open so we sat waiting. One worker walked past did not say anything, after a few min a guy came up and kicked us off the table and said they are only for members. I was a bit bother by the situation as well as how it was handled. It was on the rude side vs. "I know you are waiting on the wine tasting experience, and it is a beautiful day to be outside, however these tables are for our members so could you be so kind to wait inside, I'm really sorry however, greatly appreciate your patience ". Nothing even close to this occurred. So we went back inside and stood around for about 15/20 min waiting for the tasting experience to begin. Standing around waiting is not a problem, however, we are at a winery so some complementary short glass of wine while waiting seems appropriate. Again if it were not for the actual wine tasting experience I would have left a two star maybe three at best. We just did not feel welcomed outside of the lady doing the wine tasting event, she was great! Would I visit again, Im not sure if I would. I was recommended to us and would I recommend, I'm not sure if I would do that either. Undecided. I do leave review on yelp and google so will cut and past this review there as well.

When I heard there was a winery near I10 and the Beltway I was more than a little skeptical, but after having a few bottles that my wife brought home after a tasting and hanging on the patio today, I see I was wrong. If you're on the patio, you get the sense you're in the countryside (especially because the big-killing chickens are running around) even though you're in the middle of Houston. The wine is phenomenal and the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgable.

"Winery in Houston?? Mehh" That was my initial reaction when I found out about Nice winery. After doing some more research, I decided to give it a shot and came here with my fiance to try out their wine and food pairing event. I have to say that I am very happy that I checked out Nice Winery. The event was fun, and I thought everyone who worked at the winery was super nice (no pun intended :P ) and very knowledgeable. I was also impressed by how down-to-earth and humble the winemakers were and how they care about sustainability, being organic, and supporting small and family-owned businesses. There are no chemicals added to these wines, making them very rare (and no hangovers!) Having lived in S.F., we have been to wineries in Napa such as Promontory, Pride, and Heron House and decided to join the Nice Wine club instead. (We also took home Nice winery's award-winning Texas white wine to try it!) It's still surreal and unbelievable that a place like this exists in Houston, and I feel fortunate that I discovered this place. We can't wait to go back for future events! P.S. One request to the winery. We would love for Nice to do some blind tasting classes to learn more about how to taste wine. P.P.S Here is some info on organic wines: https://winefolly.com/lifestyle/organic-wine-vs-non-organic-wine/ Nice winery makes wines using organic grapes and ALSO does not add any additives like yeast, egg whites, and animal enzymes (like rennet in cheese). This makes the wine organic and vegan!

Super cute boutique winery near memorial, behind hobby lobby. We did a guided wine tasting with Macy and she was excellent. Very entertaining and knowledgeable at the same time. Chef Randy did some very tasty food pairings as well. We became members and can't eat to go back! A much see if you enjoy wine!!!

I went for a wine and food tasting with two friends on Saturday and had the absolute best time. The wines were superb, the food delicious (and unique) and the venue was beautiful. I was not familiar with the winery so I had few expectations. Wow! It was such a treat. They make wines not only in Houston (one vintage) but all over... that's why their wines are so delicious. They use the best grapes in the best parts of the world to make their wines. And they love to support other small wineries by selling those wines as well. Their food pairings were inspired! I even ate a quail egg and loved it. ;-) I was so impressed I became a wine club member. It's a great deal and I love supporting a local business. I wholeheartedly recommend this place for any type of outing.

I found The Nice Winery totally by accident. I had just moved to Houston 2017 and had to get an EZ-tag off of BW 8. While I was searching for a parking spot. The universe shined down on me and "The Nice Winery " was right in front of me. After, taking care of my EZtag account. I went into to check out the winery. I signed up as a member that day and the staff and family folks are wonderful! Very welcoming and their events are never a disappointment. If you have a passion for wine as I do The Nice Winery is the place! They are a family owned business complete with Owner/Sommelier and a private chef on staff. Farm to table organic wine and food. It's bougie and fun! Their wines are phenomenal and reasonably priced. You can even get a lovely "Real" champagne! They're big on wine education and all the staff is extremely helpful and kind. They've since moved the location to BW 8 & Westview. I'm amazed with all the people they serve they recognize me by name every time I drop in or attend an event.

This place is beyond 5 stars! When you walk into this gorgeous building it's like walking into a different world in Spring Branch. The wines and food pairings were superb. The staff was friendly, attentive and approachable! You will want to host your next gathering here! The executive chef was friendly and his food pairings were exceptionally crafted. Green eggs and ham was a hit! I'd go back for more if I could. The outdoor patio was uniquely designed for outdoor drinking and one of a kind in Spring Branch. They had a wine garden you could walk through with live hens and roosters roaming around. This is a perfect place to hang out, host a book club or just catch up with a friend. Enjoy a bottle of wine in Spring Branch! You're old favorite with a new look. Enjoy your new home Nice Winery!

Learning more about wine, we took the Wine 101 course.

Admittedly, I don't know much about wine. So, we attended the Wine 101 class to learn more. Wow, we are now dangerously educated. We can confidently read a wine menu and talk to a restaurant sommelier in a way that should guarantee we get wine that we will enjoy. The class was fun. Everyone had a good time and learned. Our instructor was well versed and was able to impart his knowledge to everyone that attended. He was also entertaining. Several of us decided to join the winery after the class. Love supporting Houston privately owned businesses that also support local charities.

Great winery nestled off Beltway 8. Staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable about their wines. We went for a wine tasting but did not realize you need to book in advance online- by appointment only. Even though we could not do a full wine tasting they made our drive over there worth the stop. They gave us a tour of the winery and gave us a tasting of one of their wines. There wines are on the dryer side but very good.

    View from outdoor patio.

Some of the meals you're cooking are simpler than others. We had a pear arugula salad, bolognese, and olive oil cake on the menu. The chef and her crew were great! They took their time and explained everything to us. For the pasta, we actually made the noodles! Which was really cool! The whole experience was so much fun! You get to eat the food after you're done, but make sure you eat it because you cannot take the leftovers. Everything was yummy! Tip: you can BYOB! We brought our own bottle of wine! They don't charge a corkage fee and have glasses for you. I highly recommend a cooking class! Especially with friends or a date night. It was a lot of fun! We want to do their surf and turf one next.

We had a great experience at the Memorial location of Sur La Table for a dim sum cooking class…read more This was a Christmas gift from me to J. and was on a Sunday a bit after lunch. When we got to the class, it was completely full and we were paired with another couple. Among the 4 of us, we made potstickers filled with shrimp and pork, as well as bbq pork bao buns. Our instructor was great - I enjoyed his humor and he made the class lively! We were greeted with tea to sip on and the ingredients were prepped in advance with small containers of each sauce, veggies, mushrooms, etc. We took turns chopping, or whisking, or using the stand mixer. I learned some useful knife skills as well! It was fun learning how to fold the wonton wrappers as well as the dough for the bao buns. I appreciated the chance to learn multiple delicious recipes and we had a fun group! I would have appreciated more observation of making the bbq pork as that was pre-prepared, and going through the multiple ingredients we used as they were not labeled. That being said, we received recipe booklets so that we can try them on our own. We had a pause midway through the class during which the Sur La Table staff steamed our potstickers and bao buns and we browsed the store with our day-of discount. When we returned, I enjoyed sharing the delicious dim sum! We were pretty full towards the end but learned that we can't take any of the food out of the store due to any risk on the store which was a bummer. Nevertheless our group chowed down and finished our tasty meal! I enjoyed all the instructors and staff at this location and would certainly be open to coming back, though for a special occasion as their classes are on the pricey end.

2/12/2026: This is not only a review, but also a how-to. Booking with the school can be its own…read moreissue depending on the day. To start, I'll explain the how-to and important things to know. My appointment was for color and cut. First: When calling, dial 1201 for the extension. This was the only one I could get to pick up 2 days the week I booked. The automated service gives you 3 options, 1200, 1201, 1202. 1201 seemed to get me through both times after frustration of get put on hold multiple times when trying the other extensions. Second (learned this after I arrived for my appointment): Black chairs are the least experienced, blue is middle and red is the highest. It is not mandatory for a blue chair to move up to a red chair to graduate. Different skill levels also come with different pricing. Third (and most important): Be prepared to spend time on this appointment. I arrived at 5:15 PM for a 5:30 PM appointment. I didn't walk out until 10:09 PM. Forth: An estimate will be discussed before proceeding. Fifth: The payment for the services will be taken at the end from the school itself. For tip, you must pay the stylist directly via Zelle, Venmo, or cash. No cash back available from the cashier. Come prepared and ask your stylist their preferred form of cash app. Don't be a jerk and skip this part. These stylist work hard and they have payments for school. Don't assume the cost of the services covers anything for them personally. THE SETUP: The space very much had a Visible Changes vibe. Multiple chairs in rows with mirror and people back and forth through the area. COLOR: Natalie (Naty) was a blue chair. Super sweet girl, very personable, and I could tell she wanted to do a great job. She had a school friend assisting her with my color. I have very fine medium hair (on the short side of medium), so I wasn't sure why she needed assistance. I have never had my hair done at a school, so I was hoping for the best and trying to trust the process. The instructor walked by a couple times and added some verbal instruction and assistance. I felt good about that. The instructor also helped Naty with my color mixture. I was charged by the bowl. For my hair, she used two bowls, each at $15.00. Total for the color was $30.00. I have not had color done in at least 6-7 years, so my hair took really well to the chemicals. This is something to consider. Hair that needs a lot of processing, is damaged or unhealthy, would change my plans for a school to do my color. All in all, I am happy with the color. CUT: Natalie seemed to have more difficulty with the cut. She was having an issue with the layering and the separating of the hair. I get it though. Just like everything else, her groove will come with more practice. All in all, I am happy with the cut. The haircut cost was $10.00. So, for $65.00 (color, cut, and a $25.00 tip), I was able to have a vacation hair that I was hoping for; something bright and fun. My regular place would be $75.00 for the cut, $245.00 for the color, and then the tip. I wouldn't get out of there for under $400.00! I guess that's the difference between how your experience will be viewed. I was hoping to save money. I had more expenses than I anticipated for my vacation. I am not a vain person and don't really care much about my hair. If it didn't turn out well, I know it will grow out (color) and back (length). I was looking for something fun, cost effective, and didn't have much to lose. You men have no idea what it takes for a woman to get ready for a vacation. Manicures, pedicures, waxing, hair, vacation clothes, and so on! It is so expensive to be us! Lol Speaking of mani/pedi, I saw nail stations at the school, but I did not see anyone attending them. That may be certain days they do main/pedis. Everything turned out great for what my expectation was and what I wanted. I'm not trying to down the experience at all. Naty and Rachel (second stylist) really did a great job. Naty is truly a hard worker. I could just tell by watching her. I have gotten lots of compliments at work and from friends, so that's just a bonus. Would I go back? I would for sure if I could request Naty, but she is graduating in March 2026. I probably will go back again and see how it works out with another stylist. The only thing I was slightly concerned about was the "money piece" that frames my face is a little lighter than I expected, but it will be fun for my cruise. Other than than, the color is truly beautiful. I have always been told I have an usual natural brown hair color. I'm sure it is tough to pick a color treatment that will highlight it. They have a little shop at the entrance with hair care products and other items. Check them out. The benefits are far greater than the expected. Thanks for my experience, Paul Mitchell.
