Nikki did my hair. She was pleasant and very knowledgeable. I love the bob she gave me. Will definitely come back.

The Paul Mitchell School is a HIDDEN GEM - even though it's right off I-10 near BW8 and I pass it frequently, I would've never stopped in until today! After reading the PM website where it mentions that all stylists are supervised by a trainer who is there, that was enough to get me to book an appointment. I made an appointment over the phone on Tuesday for 9am on Thursday (today) for a cut and balayage. All of their prices are shown on their website, which is nice, so you have an idea as to what you will pay. Upon entering, it appeared to be a large warehouse space with lots of salon stations along with a color bar for when a client requests color. Further inside is a room for stylists to wash client's hair. My appointment was at 9am and I was matched with a stylist around five minutes later. The stylist's name was Destiny. I showed her what type of balayage I was aiming for and her and her assistant got to work! Every so often, the trainer named Yvette, would swing by when Destiny had questions. Yvette seemed very knowledgeable and helpful during my time here. Once my phone battery was close to dying, I was stuck looking around at all of the other clients getting their hair done. You can tell that this school doesn't let just anyone play with hair - pretty much everyone I viewed appeared to know what they were doing! This was reassuring. After the balayage was complete, Destiny worked her magic on my hair once more - long layers. Yvette assisted with this as well. The cut looked amazing! Once done, Destiny blew dry my hair straight which amplified the amazing color even more. While the balayage took what seemed like all day, the price was definitely worth it! I'm used to paying $500+ for the same cut and balayage and I received it for almost a TENTH of that cost today! They also were running a 30% off special, which made the color even less expensive. Also, be sure to ask for your stylist's Zelle information or bring cash to tip as tips aren't accepted at the cashier.

My sister recommended I go here since it's well priced and I'm glad I did! I was seated about 15 minutes after my appointment time and my mom about 5 minutes after me. I got Maya and she was fantastic, and super sweet. As soon as we sat down I showed her how much I wanted to cut off and how dramatic I wanted the layers to be. Thats when she told me the wash and dry part was included in the price of the cut. I love my hair cut. I cut off about 5 inches and also got layers added in. I paid $15 for all of that. With that being said a star is taken away because when I asked at the front how much a cut was they said $10. Not "starting at $10", just $10. So not sure why it was $15? I did say yes to that price after who I think was an instructor came over to look at my hair and heard what we planned on doing to my hair. $5 isnt a big deal at all, it was just a matter of "why". So was the extra $5 for layers? Cause of my length of hair? Not sure, so wish there was more transparency on that especially since someone else was paying for my haircut and i had told them it was $10. I plan on going back though, cause $15 is great anyways. Keep in mind they are going to take their time with your hair to make sure it's perfect. I sat down at 5:45 and got out of the chair at 7:30. Didn't bother me because I expected it, but just so others can keep that in mind. Also don't forget to either bring cash or have one of those zelle/cashapp/vemo apps so you can tip your hair stylist, you cannot tip on the credit card. It can get loud in there, but that's thanks to how this place is laid out and has high ceilings. They had great music playing the whole time though!

I really needed a haircut and I've always heard that haircuts and blow outs are $10, so I finally decided to book an apt here. I purchased a coupon on Groupon for $15 which was pointless considering it's a lot cheaper. I asked for short layers and I think she did a pretty good job! I'll def be returning here.

Ask the Community - Paul Mitchell The School Houston

Can I purchase their products?

Yes. I've done so both when I had an appointment and just when I was in area.

My daughter has super curly hair and she wants a straight perm or Japanese straightening not sure what it's called but can you do that?

I'm not sure if they do it. I love getting my hair styled by upcoming new stylists, but for the Japanese straightening I wouldn't go to a school. It looks great but is hard on your hair. If not done correctly it can have disastrous results (and not… Read more

Do you need an appointment on a Saturday? I will use Groupon as well...

I have been going to the Institute of Cosmetology, Esthetics & Massage for years for facials,…read morenails and massage and have generally had very positive experiences, which makes this situation especially disappointing. During my last massage appointment in March, the student assigned to me mentioned being exhausted and dealing with a death in the family. I sympathized with her situation, but unfortunately the massage itself involved very little pressure and did not help relieve the tension in my back muscles. When I requested deeper tissue work, she brought out a massage gadget instead of using her hands. I specifically requested a traditional hand massage without gadgets or elbows, but the session still did not feel therapeutic or effective. One concern I have is that the school requires clients to complete feedback forms directly in front of the student, which discourages honest feedback and makes clients uncomfortable expressing concerns openly. After the appointment, I politely informed the front desk that I did not feel I had received much of a massage. I was told someone would contact me. Instead, the only follow-up I received was a call canceling my next appointment, which had been scheduled with a different student. I called back twice afterward and received no response. Today, when I finally spoke with the owner, I was shocked by how condescending and dismissive the conversation became. Instead of listening, she talked over me and lectured me as if I were one of her students, or even worse, a misbehaving child. Rather than listening to a long-time client or offering a simple courtesy massage or any kind of gesture to resolve the issue, she spoke to me in a belittling and reprimanding manner. She even stated that I should be able to afford a $120 massage elsewhere and told me not to return for services. Insult upon insult. Don't ass-u-me a client is "poor" if he or she comes to your school. Without clients, your students could not complete their training. I get regular massages from my massage therapist of 15 years every other week. I came to your school because she is usually overbooked. At no point was I angry or disrespectful. I simply provided honest feedback after years of supporting the business. The experience left me feeling humiliated by a place that is supposed to help people feel relaxed, cared for, and valued. I feel offended and demoralized. There are many schools and businesses that welcome constructive feedback professionally and treat loyal clients with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, this experience did not reflect those values. Notice how the owner was quick to reiterate that this is a school, yes, I know. Raising your voice, talking over me and demeaning me solidified this fact in concrete. You were not professional at all. This school is also regulated. As a German, I return to Europe every summer. It seems a trip to visit a dear friend in Zurich is long overdue. Maybe CIDESCO can clarify this incident.

Well we didn't have an appointment so went by that evening as a walk in. It has been raining ALL DAY in Houston that day but the staff was very accommodating. The Vibe and Aesthetics are on point. This location is convenient to where we live so it all worked out well. My daughter ( Sherray) said she will definitely be making an appointment and returning in the future. The prices are very decent, we had additional charges because they had to add more products and do some detangling before actually washing/conditioning her hair which turned out great and she was pleased. I also plan on getting hair service here in the near future as well. Shout out to the student/hairstylist ( Anselma) & to her instructor who was nearby giving tips & suggestions. My daughter said the instructor was super cool as well. So they apparently recently upgraded or changed the system and we were unable to pay in cash nor Apple Pay. So remember to bring your debit/credit cards. Still cool to have cash in order to TIP the student which is a Kind thing to do for all of their efforts. So yesss, we recommend this location with a 5 out 5 glowing STARS! :-)

Tortured by the eyes for 8.5 hours, come find out that was her first time doing it. Sorry but that can't be acceptable. That's my eyes that are at risk with chemicals and sharp blade. I honestly wouldn't pay a dime for that nor would I for free! I was thinking I was going to get someone who has done it a bunch of times on classmates and dolls , that then she had advanced to live clients. Wow that's legit scary that this school is doing this! This must get regulated immediately!! That's no joke that's serious!

It took forever for a hairdresser to come to me. And then they said they wanted to wash my hair when I already said that I only want a blow dry and a haircut and I already told them that I washed my hair. then as they were cutting my hair, there were random people just coming in just looking at hair cutting spraying. Anyway, that was my experience and it just took over three hours to do just to cut and a blow dry and which was ridiculous. The cut was fine. The blow dry was not good, but it's whatever I just wanted to get the hell out of there.

My school district payed her in full in the beginning of July, $700. Once paid, the class dates were set for July 18th and August 1st. We had two dates set because she stated that she didn't want to do all four hours of the training in one day. Well, I needed to change the August 1st date because I mixed up my dates. I spoke to her July 13th and things took a turn. When asked what date did I want to change it to, I told her that I was available anytime during the week. She offered August 15th, but when I told her that I would be back in school but I can come after school, she stated that she works from 8:30 to 5:30 and she's not staying after that. I said no problem. She said "we can't do Sunday's because that's my day off, and I need my rest!" I never even mentioned coming in on a Sunday. Then I asked her, "well, how about the 25th or the 8th?" Then she says, "the 25th won't work because I'm coming back from out of town and on the 8th and teaching a class. I don't know what to do as far as your schedule because you're always traveling." I was like, okay. I told he that I'm out of school, so I'm flexible just let me know what works best for you. She then tells me " yeah, but I still have school. So here's what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna go against my better judgment and I'm gonna allow you to come in on Wednesday, July 20th @ 12pm." I said "okay, no problem." Then Audrey says, "it's not a problem, It really is a problem, but it's not a problem. And I just want to give you a soft warning, my students will be there and if my students need me during your class time, I am going to go tend to them." I said okay. She then asked for my info. You would think that she would already have it since $700 was paid on PayPal with all of my info on there, but I digress. I gave her my first & last name. Then she said "number". I didn't know if she meant my license number or my phone number, as oftentimes, your license number is needed with you take a class. I said "my phone number?" She replied, "YES N!GGA! You know, Jesus is on the main line? Your phone number!" I was flabbergasted. At that point, I wanted the money back and I didn't want to do the class anymore, but I knew deep down that she wouldn't return the money. I held my peace, and I gave her my info and we got off the phone. I received my confirmation texts and emails for both classes, both on July 18th @ 1030am and July 20th @ 12pm and I confirmed them both. July 18, the day of the first class which is scheduled for 1030am. At 10am, Audrey sends me a text asking me if I have acrylic, a model or a practice hand, tips, glue, etc. I responded back, am I supposed to? She texts me back asking me, well, what do you work with when you do nails? I was floored, especially paying $700 for a nail class, it's EXPECTED that those items are provided for you to use and any professional class where you pay that amount of money, those. We didn't discuss me having to bring anything. I get to the school at 1030, and the door is locked and no one is there. I text Audrey telling her that I'm there and she tells me that I'm really and my class isn't until 11:30 . She shows up at 11:04, I get inside and the vibe is off. I feel unwelcome and uncomfortable the whole time. She was very passive aggressive and talked down to me, like I'm stupid. She's in the second day of the class I asked her if she wanted to check my work after I prepped my nails, as instructed, and she proceeded to gaslight me and tell me that I'm too technical, I overthink, I lack self confidence and that's a sign of weakness and I'm getting in my own way, and she's trying to take me to the top but I'm always questioning things I already know, etc. She tore me down and then she hugged me. She's a bully. She's a narcissist and unprofessional. Wasted time & money. RUN AWAY.
