Amaya did an amazing job, silk press, on my hair!! It's beautiful...almost too straight. She has fantastic hands and knows how to properly WASH/SHAMPOO hair and use the right water temperature. Brook and her instructor, Mr. Sebastian were phenomenal with my gray hair. I was considering a rinse, but my hair has never looked better.

My hair experience is usually a good one here and this time was no exception. However, I did pay for a trim and I'll let the picture speak for its self. I asked the young lady to cut more and even, but she said no, she wanted to retain my length. I get they're a school and not perfect, but she said no. If you care about your education please, I beg of you DO NOT go to ANY OGLE location. If there is someone you hate with a passion that wants to go into cosmetology or esthetics, convince them to go here. It took me years to write this review because I tried to block this place from my memory honestly, but after the school has popped up on my social media recently I can tell it has not changed much. It is the most unprofessional, ghetto waste of money you will ever make. On your very first orientation day they are going to brag to you about how FEW people end up graduating and act like it's because the curriculum is so challenging. I was an evening part time student and for the first phase we did have a dedicated teacher that was nice and passionate about teaching but only had so much experience in certain services. Why were our "instructors" for the makeup and lash extension sections my unlicensed classmates who did self taught bridal makeup and lashes as a side gig??? They did fine but they were paying to learn and ended up paying to teach. Once we moved on to the next phase the official instructor actually went with us but ended up leaving shortly after. Our class was a complete after thought after that; we were lucky if we got a substitute teacher for a few days but there were also several days where we had no teacher. We all came to class to just sit and talk and maybe practice on each other but there was no teacher if we had any questions or needed help, and administrators literally came in, saw we had no teacher and left. They made sure there were plenty of fliers all over the place advertising their paid courses outside of the school, though. Speaking of admin, completely unprofessional and will literally start drama and have personal conflicts with students. I can only speak to my experience on the esthetics side but I will say I heard similar accounts from the cosmetology side and common phrase I heard used from students from both sides was "Youtube university." The best students that come out of OGLE, the most requested ones in the salon/spa are people that have already learned the service they want to start providing and just need the license to do it officially and get insured. I've never been to the Willowbrook location but I did hear horror stories from my coworker, a licensed esthetician that was subbing there at the time (drama and also PHYSICAL altercations between students and staff) but I can't speak with 100% certainty on that. I can tell you though that nothing I "learned" at OGLE has helped in my professional career at all except maybe teaching me how NOT to act. Any professional or practical skills I learned were thanks to the estheticians at the spa I was already working at prior to going to OGLE. If you attend OGLE for esthetics you're essentially going to be paying 12k for some dermalogica products and a bag. Do yourself a professional and financial favor and go to a community College, even if OGLE is conveniently located near you just make the extra drive. As a warning to any potential customers, the last section we learned in the curriculum before graduating?.....sanitation. We hadn't gone over a single thing in that regard before we were allowed to start taking clients in the spa except I think barbicide concentration. read more

The student who was assigned to do my hair was extremely sweet, but was definitely still learning how to do textured hair--that was quite clear. She also tried really hard, but just was not able to get my roots straight during the smoothing treatment process. However, her teacher, Mr. Sebastian, stepped in and was able to add the body, bounce, and shine that the student was not yet able to achieve. As a client, I would be leary of coming here. Personally, I would not and will not come back. I requested a student of seniority status as I didn't want anyone playing in my hair. I requested a silk press, but mainly I wanted a trim. I hadn't had one in 6 years by anyone else. My expectation was for my scalp to be thoroughly cleaned as I had just taken down braids and for my ends to but trimmed properly. I really didn't have high expectations for the silk press itself as I thought my hair was going to frizz out. However, it didn't because I still had a smoothing treatment in it. I have/had 4a bra strap length hair. The student explained everything she was doing which I appreciated and cleaned anything that fell. She was gentle with my hair after I told her I was tender head. I noticed the students had to go get products from a counter. Well, the student only shampooed my hair ONCE and conditioned it. I couldn't blame her, but she was trying to work with what she had (which is a shame). When she was drying my hair I noticed my hair still had an odor. She straightened my hair but did not wrap it or put me under the dryer like a normal silk press. When she was done, I asked her about trimming it. She asked me to stand, pulled all my hair to the back, and cut straight across my ends. That's it. That was the trim (at a hair school!). They consider that a cut. The trim was not good as that is not how my hair normally falls. When my hair was pulled to the front, it looked like a long angled bob. I had to fix it at home. I'm a hairstylist of over 12 years. I only went to a hair school to have my hair trimmed to avoid what she did to my hair. That was a mistake. I normally trim my ends, but I figured they were uneven in the back and wanted someone to do it for me. Had she done a proper cut, she would've seen that my hair was in layers. I never told the student my profession as she never engaged me in conversation. Instead, she was conversing with her classmates and instructor. That's not how you build a clientele. As a student, I would not choose this school if I wanted to be a successful hairstylist who specializes in coloring or cuts. One was struggling horribly with her highlights and the instructor never once went to assist her. The way the color was being applied was really making me cringe. Instead, he was conversing with another student. I also noticed a lot of the students were unaware of how to build a clientele and their plans after graduation. It seems like you're only being taught enough to pass boards, but not how to have your own business or be successful in a salon. I really wanted to give them some better insight. I did tip the student well as I encourage everyone to do as I understand how being a full-time student with limited funds is not easy read more

I have been going to Ogle Beauty school in Stafford for almost a year. Courtney B. did my silk press. She was very attentive and paid attention to details. She used her time wisely and we were done in two hours. This is a hair school but students should be open to critique and customers should be patient with the students. Now, Ogle, please work on fixing the plumbing for the last four sink bowls at this location. Also, instructors need to be more attentive to the students. Students also need to work on their professionalism while at school. There are various age groups that come to pay for services, just be mindful of how you carry yourselves.
