I have been going to the Institute of Cosmetology, Esthetics & Massage for years for facials,…read morenails and massage and have generally had very positive experiences, which makes this situation especially disappointing. During my last massage appointment in March, the student assigned to me mentioned being exhausted and dealing with a death in the family. I sympathized with her situation, but unfortunately the massage itself involved very little pressure and did not help relieve the tension in my back muscles. When I requested deeper tissue work, she brought out a massage gadget instead of using her hands. I specifically requested a traditional hand massage without gadgets or elbows, but the session still did not feel therapeutic or effective. One concern I have is that the school requires clients to complete feedback forms directly in front of the student, which discourages honest feedback and makes clients uncomfortable expressing concerns openly. After the appointment, I politely informed the front desk that I did not feel I had received much of a massage. I was told someone would contact me. Instead, the only follow-up I received was a call canceling my next appointment, which had been scheduled with a different student. I called back twice afterward and received no response. Today, when I finally spoke with the owner, I was shocked by how condescending and dismissive the conversation became. Instead of listening, she talked over me and lectured me as if I were one of her students, or even worse, a misbehaving child. Rather than listening to a long-time client or offering a simple courtesy massage or any kind of gesture to resolve the issue, she spoke to me in a belittling and reprimanding manner. She even stated that I should be able to afford a $120 massage elsewhere and told me not to return for services. Insult upon insult. Don't ass-u-me a client is "poor" if he or she comes to your school. Without clients, your students could not complete their training. I get regular massages from my massage therapist of 15 years every other week. I came to your school because she is usually overbooked. At no point was I angry or disrespectful. I simply provided honest feedback after years of supporting the business. The experience left me feeling humiliated by a place that is supposed to help people feel relaxed, cared for, and valued. I feel offended and demoralized. There are many schools and businesses that welcome constructive feedback professionally and treat loyal clients with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, this experience did not reflect those values. Notice how the owner was quick to reiterate that this is a school, yes, I know. Raising your voice, talking over me and demeaning me solidified this fact in concrete. This school is also regulated. As a German, I return to Europe every summer. It seems a trip to visit a dear friend in Zurich is long overdue. Maybe CIDESCO can clarify this incident.

We were just standing there looking like idiots. Finally someone came in and I asked them that I wanted a haircut and a blow dry so the total I saw on the website was $25. They were about to charge me $37. I showed them the price on the website and then they showed me attitude and then they said OK and then I paid. After I was told to sit down, no one spoke English. It took forever for a hairdresser to come to me. And then they said they wanted to wash my hair when I already said that I only want a blow dry and a haircut and I already told them that I washed my hair. then as they were cutting my hair, there were random people just coming in just looking at hair cutting spraying. There were too many people just playing with my hair. At one point, a random student just started playing with my hair and started spraying water, even though that hair was already blow dried. At the beginning of the cut, one of the employees asked me to show a picture and I showed the picture and she started misbehaving with me and saying "that's not $25 that's $45" and then I showed the website which showed $25. and then finally the teacher came in and just told her to calm down and go away, but she was so rude to me for no reason. Anyway, that was my experience and it just took over three hours to do just to cut and a blow dry and which was ridiculous. The cut was fine. The blow dry was not good, but it's whatever I just wanted to get the hell out of there.

This was when she did her appointments in her home. It was a bit unorthodox, but I happily obliged because she did somewhat of a good job. But, I also didn't know better. I was still new to lash extensions. As she got more appointments and switched to the closet of a building she is in now, the work got increasingly more sloppy. Applications got sparse and would go in multiple directions. Towards the end of our interactions, fed up with the consistently sloppy work, I told her that I wanted the "volume refill." This refill basically gives you the appearance of a thicker look. I felt her basic refills were no longer consistent to what I was getting when I first started. I was happy to pay for the upgrade too. She did not receive that well. In my experiences with Jessica, she did not appreciate nor want to hear unfavorable feedback - even if properly delivered. When I would tell her I was unhappy with the work, giving her specifics, she would become rude and act as though I was an imposition. Which I find odd as we are the ones having to find the time to get what could have been done right the first time. Eventually, she responded to me, via text, she couldn't "accommodate my feedback." Very unprofessional? Also, in her previous location (it was one of those building that closed after a specific time, so you had to be buzzed or let in) you were expected to wait outside in the front for several minutes. Rain or shine, but since this is Houston, it was often in the blistering heat. She never apologized for having you wait and in fact made it seem as though her coming to the door of HER business was an imposition. I heard she moved yet again, but still can not produce good work. I know many of her clients - all which have left. I produced 4 consistent referrals to her all of which are unhappy with her work to date. I was always on time and tipped her very very well. It was never enough I guess... My suggestion to you is to go to Lashes by Ann on Montrose. Same price and actual consistently, impeccable and professional work. The ratings will speak for the establishment. They're great!

(Yelp listing has wrong suite number, they may have moved which also explains why that first photo…read moreis outdated and is not their current setup) First time here, heard about it from my sister who knew i had always wanted a lash lift so i made an appointment here. Obviously it can vary what kind of service you need and if a girl is available, but I called on a Friday and was able to get an appointment for the following Tuesday. Place isn't the easiest to find simply because where the name is on the strip center it is suites away from its actual spot. It's in the middle in an inner corner suite. No suite number on top but I just tried to look for #50 and found it easily once i was out of my car. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and within a few minutes the girl who doing the lash lift came to get me. There is 2 seats at the front for those that have a bit of a wait if they arrive early. This isn't a one floor level place, there is a slightly lower level. (The ground level you enter on only had like 5 chairs for hair services, rest seem to be "downstiars"). I'd reach out if you're concerned about accessibility needs because I'm not sure if there was an elevator. The place isn't upscale by by means, very bare bones, no decor, simple but of course you're there for the services not aesthetic. Room I was in had 3 (maybe 4) of those long massage table type things. I was offered a sheet and a water bottle and said yes to both. I was in an above knee dress and for whatever reason I didn't think ahead that I'd be laying down for the appointment so I'm glad they had the sheet. I'll try to remember to come in shorts or jeans next time lol. Anyways Angela was super nice, explained the process and how long it'd take and constantly checked on me throughout the entire thing. I was never in any kind of discomfort, only little bit of itchiness but that was just thanks to how the tape was put on my outer corner pitching a bit. But it was no big deal and I told Angela not to worry about it. Honestly I probably could've fallen asleep but I was curious about all the steps so I stayed awake to ask her about it throughout all of it. Next time though I'd fall asleep cause she was just that gentle with eyes. I LOOOOOVE the results. I've always had super long but straight lashes and hated having to use a curler or mascara to get this intended effect. I will definitely be coming back, supposed to last 2-3 months. Oh also for those that have never gotten a lift before there are different "levels" or styles that you can get. I just went with the most lifted.
