I am extremely displease with how I was treated at this braid shop. I spent 185.00 a week ago. I've lost two braids already and my hair is incomplete. Money thrown out the window! To make matters worse, they had me waiting in a vacant parking lot, in the rain, for a whole hour! They told me to be there at 7am. No one showed up until 8. I call that "customer abuse"! I've been here five hours and had four different people rotate working on my hair --- still not finished. It took over seven hours... with multiple people "working". The parts are all sloppy The color is not as shown in the picture I brought Total waste of my day. Lazy, sloppy work. Rude service. The owner just disappeared for over an hour in the middle of doing my hair. Several shop workers did not wear masks either. One random lady moved my purse! Why would you touch another woman's bag?! Had an appointment at 10am. Once I arrived they told me it would be a two hour wait and had the audacity to be rude about it.

First of all the name of the place is A1 Braids and not Al Braids as this reads here. I don't know how to change it so it'll just stay Al for now. Anyways, this has been one of my more enjoyable experiences getting braids however I could do without the frequent stops/breaks for different reasons. Now, here I am starting with the negative. Let me drop some of this positive energy on you for a second. I called these guys on a Saturday morning around 8am because the shop that I planned on going to told me that they wanted $220 to do Havana Twist. "No ma'am, I'll like to cancel that appt right away, I said Havana Twist not damn Micro-Braids, you done lost your mind!" So I called A1 and was told they start at $130 without the hair...now that's more like it. I was sitting in her chair getting my hair braided by 10am. The ladies in the shop are African but they speak very good English. They're friendly, they make conversation with you, they're fast, the price is right and their work is impeccable. I believe without all the small stops it would have taken 3 hours instead of being closer to 4. With all that said, I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. Just go first thing in the morning. read more

I have a head full of hair along with being a naturalista so I figured I would be in the shop for 8 hours. Long story short the ladies who did my hair they were very nice and accommodating they were also done in less than 2 hours the owner she was such a sweetheart but when I got home people started looking at me upside my head and making comments that I needed to go get my money back I even had total strangers walk up to me and this store and asked me who did my braids and they told me to go get my money back because I was done wrong that's kind of embarrassing, I had different sized braids throughout my head I wanted large braid and they range from medium small two large throughout my hair I was also told that the front had very large knots with a braid started I'm very picky about how I like my braids and this is the first time that I've got negative comments on braids that I've had it was parted to where if I were to wear my hair down the braids wouldn't fall gracefully they would slant to the side I was also told that my parts we're not very neat so I ended up taking the braids down because they were so heavy I had 6 bags of xpressions braiding hair in my head and got them redone by someone else which I had to come off an extra $150, and 4 bags of braiding hair I was charged $180 here the last thing that I wanted to do was waste my money because I'm on a medical leave for breast cancer and I didn't want to have to worried about my hair I don't like confrontation or arguments so I didn't go back and have them fix it because it was just going to aggravate me even more if it wasn't done right I just sucked up losing $180 SMH but I was going off the reviews that I seen on here and sad to say I wasn't really pleased with the outcome they are very nice ladies don't get me wrong very kind atmosphere as well but if I'm paying a $180 I would like quality braids read more

Kind of a hidden place on a shop strip In Stafford. Saw the good reviews so I decided to give it a try because I wanted my whole head box braided. I have long thick hair like Thor from the movies and wanted my whole head to be box braided, had the picture and everything. Walked in, showed this nice lady the picture, she sat me down within 3 minutes and started and eventually 3 ladies total were on my hair working. It was done in an hour and looked awesome. First time getting ALL my hair box braided and it came out fantastic. I look like I belong in California surfing. I get compliments from anyone. I recommend this place. They are rude and unprofessional. I showed them a picture of how I wanted my hair and they did the front almost as the picture but had the back of my head with HUGE squares looking a hot mess. Of course I didn't notice until I got home. I went back for them to re-braid it and they had an attitude saying they did my hair as the picture. Even though I was being nice (b/c I still needed my hair done) they were so mean! Anyone could clearly see the front of my head was different from the back. There was a younger lady there that seemed to understand but didn't say anything to them I guess because they were the "elders". The young lady did them correctly but they still charged me. I decided to give this braiding shop a try after going to another braiding shop that was just terrible. The lady who first started braiding my hair was very professional and nice and was careful around my edges and she told me what to do to help keep them growing. The braids came out really nice and after two weeks they still look really good. The owner was very sweet and welcoming. It took 4 hours to braid my hair (there were two ladies braiding my hair). I would like to start by saying, the job that was done on my Senegalese twist was excellent, when I had them done last summer. The problem that I have with A1, is the professionalism. What I mean by that is, the price for my service changed on me 3 TIMES! I went the day before to get a quote and let them see the length of my hair. The next morning I came in, the person that gave me the original quote was not the one actually doing my hair, so I got another quote. When the job was completed, I got another price. I paid around 300 dollars give or take a few. So, fool me once.. shame on you. I received so many complements on my hair, but I refused to refer anyone else to that kind of foolishness. It's almost time for the summer, so that means it's twist time again. I'm going with another shop this Saturday and hopefully I come out with a better outcome. read more
