    My haircut and style

    Helen does a great cut and style! I'm over 40, this was a great atmosphere for me! Would recommend!

    So, lets talk about Helen! She is so sweet, and wonderful at what she does. I came in, and I've never been here before, I was between highlights. Today I had family photos, and needed a quick brighten and she rocked it! She looked at his work and made it seamless. My blowout was beautiful and she let me study (PhD student) in quiet while she made me beautiful. I will be back to see her, not only for excellent work but her sweet company.

    Helen made a world of difference for my hair. She is the first lady that cut my hair right! I usually have my own go-to haitslystlists in Vegas/home. I don't visit often enough to get haircuts there, and I'm glad I've found her at Strands which is close to to my mom's business. She listened to my needs, and was very helpful when I asked for more layers on the ends of my hair. She is very kind, and approachable. We also had nice conversations, it felt as if I've known her for a very long time. I'm starting to like shorter length hair even more. It's weightless, voluminous, and looks very healthy after Helen cut my hair with scissors instead of razor cut layers like other hairstylists. I'm loving the natural cut layers that falls on my shoulders. I had V-shaped layers for a long time. I was too lazy to get haircuts, and it still kept a nice style even after it grows all the way down to my lower back. The bad part is that my hair started to shed easily without brushing. I had to be very careful with my hair, and I wouldn't let anyone touch it besides my hairstylists. After Helen cut my hair, I felt relieved. I'm excited with my new haircut. It's a lot shorter, I get to be lazy again, and have even more time to let my hair grow out to my desire length. I wouldn't need a haircut until next year. That's a plus!     I was looking for a hair salon that I can go to for a haircut and Keratin blowout in Yelp. Strands replied first and after reading several reviews, I set an appointment with them. I'm quite pleased with the work that Ms Helen did. I will be coming back for my highlights next. Thanks, Ms Helen!

    First picture is after I paid $225 for a cut and color that she only spent 2 hours on including the blowout (but she didn't fix my hair after she dried it). The second is after Yolanda "fixed" it because as she said "her boss told her she had to." The last is what I showed her I wanted. As for the cut I asked her to trim the dead ends off and she cut 4-5 inches off. I know my hair is still long but I went from way past my bra line to I can't even put it in a bun because the shortest layers just stick out everywhere. It makes me sick to think how long it will take to grow back out to the length I like. I didn't post a review for a long time because I feel bad to mess with someone's livelihood but if she cared she wouldn't have let me walk out like that. Twice. And maybe this will keep it from happening to someone else. Owner was nice about asking her to fix it but never followed up or offered me any discount or anything. Reply to comment: Not ONE person has told me my hair looks great I am not sure what the owner is talking about. They all say oh honey I'm so sorry. You can obviously see the huge yellow/brassy stripes in my hair. I could have probably gotten better results with an at home highlight kit and saved about $200. Besides the length. And I did not say I have anxiety I said that my hair was the one thing about myself that I always felt really great about and now it makes me want to cry every time I look at it or when I run my fingers through it and the length stops way before I expect it to!

    EDIT: I never demanded free service and I have all the screenshots to prove it, so you can try and make it seem like I threatened you for free service all you want, the proof is right there. I asked to be reimbursed because you were being unprofessional and rude and stated "my hair looked fine" when it wasn't, so of course how I reacted wasn't going to remain the way I originally approached you. I was never a difficult customer, but the owner to this business is more worried about her Yelp reputation and stylists than she is her clients, which she continuously keeps proving to me. I will be providing screenshots of my conversation with the owner below. All I wanted was for the terrible highlight job to be corrected, but I was greeted with the attitude and response that "my hair looked great, why am I complaining?" Is this seriously how a business owner responds to a complaint? I NEVER said all I was going to pay for were highlights. I NEVER EVEN WANTED HIGHLIGHTS, but Helen was EXTREMELY PERSISTENT that I get highlights rather than what I wanted and because this is her profession, I trusted her. The price didn't matter, that's exactly what I told her and you. My boyfriend would have paid for whatever I wanted. Anyone coming to this location, please beware. If they mess up your hair, they are going to make it seem like it's your fault and tell you "it doesn't even look bad" when CLEARLY you can see what is wrong with my hair in pictures. AS STATED BEFORE, my hair looks okay when it is all down, but once you lift it, you can see the monstrosity underneath which can also be seen in the pictures I've posted. Maybe you need glasses, Julia, so you can see the HORRIBLE work done to my hair. I tipped Helen because I'm not an asshole and despite it being a bad job, Helen did a lot of work, so sorry for being a nice person. How childish was it to compare hair service to an ice cream shop? Trying to use the fact that I have reviewed other businesses with one star against me is just plain adolescent and petty. Are we in high school again? I didn't think so. Since you have enough time on your hands to stalk my activity on Yelp, did you have a chance to see the businesses I gave 5 stars? Their service and products were stellar and above my expectations which, unfortunately, I can't say for your business. It's okay, not everyone has the mental capability to comprehend when they are in the wrong. Arguing with such people leads to no where. Let me tell you how this should have been handled. Instead of hiding behind the phone, YOU should have been present when I returned to YOUR business to receive my correction. YOU should have checked my hair. YOU should have questioned Helen why she let me walk out of YOUR business with my hair looking the way it did. YOU should have apologized for Helen's mistake or hell, at least Helen should have. I understand no one is perfect, matter not how many years they've had to hone their skills, everyone makes mistakes and I try to be an understanding consumer, but y'all are wild. I should have just gone to Visible Changes like I normally do, at least they get the job done right the first time with stylists that have less than 20+ years of experience. Lesson definitely learned. I decided to choose this business solely based on their yelp reviews. Everyone was extremely nice and had excellent customer service, but I am giving two stars based on the work that was done to my hair. I am a customer that will try something out for a day before I make a decision because yesterday I was pretty upset, but I didn't act upon my emotions, instead I slept on it. I woke up this morning and I was doing my hair for work. I work in the heat, so I usually do a half updo and the "highlights" that were done yesterday do not look good. I asked for a solid color, but my stylist, Helen, INSISTED that I get highlights. I trusted her.... My hair only looks good when it is all down, but when you separate it, you can see the blotches and harsh lines. I showed her a few spots where the harsh lines could be seen and she "corrected" it, adding more time to my appointment, but I am not a fan of the correction, either. I am not satisfied at all, actually... For the price I paid, I would have expected much better and to top it off, I am going on vacation in 3 days and what am I supposed to do? Keep my hair down every single day while I am in Florida? I am so disappointed. I decided to give this business a chance to correct their mistake as the owner reached out to me and I am attempting to be a civil as I possibly can. The added pictures are what this location calls a "correction." My heart is so broken as my vacation nears and my hair still looks horrible.....

    I visited Madison Reed for an all-over color and blowout, and while the blowout itself was fine,…read morethe color service was extremely disappointing. The colorist left noticeable staining all along my hairline, my ears, around my neck. It was not subtle, it looked sloppy and unfinished. This is something that should have been cleaned before I ever left the chair. Instead, I walked out of the salon looking like the service was rushed and incomplete. I've since had to spend hours trying to remove the dye from my skin, and ultimately had to rewash and restyle my hair the very same day because there was no way I could comfortably go out in public like that. For the price point, this is simply unacceptable. When you pay for a professional color service, you expect to leave looking polished, not like you have to fix the work yourself at home. I'm sharing this because I think it's important for management to be aware of the quality control here. I would appreciate someone reaching out to address this situation.

(Instead attached photos show what I got) Initially…read moreLexi did say "let's look at the highlights and if you're not happy, we can tone them down." Not once did she say that my photo was Out of reach. NevI told her I want highlights noticeable for sure. Then Lexi stated "oh absolutely you're gonna definitely see that pop ."Once shampooed, blow dried, it was immediately obvious that my hair was not going to look even slightly close to the photo. Cora and Lexi insisted that it was beautiful, stunning, perfect, etc. etc.. L'Oreal asked what's going on. I explained the look is too dark and did not look like the photo at all. Then I noticed copper mark stain on my hair, Cora said "oh that's an easy fix" and Lexi mixed some color and try to bring the copper stain on my hair down. The owner, L'Oreal also tried to tell me that the orange /copper stain was natural. The mark was not natural. There was a hiccup somewhere in the process, but Lexi did not take ownership. At the end of the day, I wanted my hair repaired. I wanted highlights something at least slightly close to the photo I showed them. The day of my appointment, was going on three hours and I was rushed to pay my invoice and close out my tab before the services were complete. I thought that was odd, I had never done this in the past. It was very unprofessional, but in good faith I paid a total of $358.24 plus a $75 tip which was 20% of the total. Once Lexi completed my hair, she was frustrated because I felt it was still too dark and stated "I don't think you know what you want." Next morning when I woke up, I knew it was still too dark and if it was going to lighten it should've already in a day or two. So I called about 10 in the morning and spoke to the receptionist. I explained my situation and she immediately accommodate me with another appointment at 3:30 with Kat since Lexi was not scheduled to be there on Wednesday. Well when I came in Kat asked what was wrong and I was very specific as to what had happened step-by-step the day before. She gave me the impression that she understood the assignment and continued her best to correct the issue. She even went as far as doing a test foil to see just how light my hair would lighten without damage. Once that was completed, L'Oreal came out and this whole session begin. L'Oreal questioned everything that her stylist was doing and asked me to move to a different station because someone else was going to take care of me. This third stylist, I believe her name was Ashley had no idea what was actually happening. Ashley was very soft spoken, professional, demonstrated empathy throughout our whole interaction. Ashley asked me to please show her the initial photo that I had presented yesterday. I showed it to her and she explained what the necessary process would be. L'Oréal once again comes out gives Ashley a liability contract for me to sign and another invoice for an additional $300+ to correct their mistake. Please keep in mind. I had already paid the day before a total of $358.24 plus a $75 tip. This included $160 for the partial highlight, Gloss $55 which I never approved. Upon my arrival, the day of my appointment Lexi briefly mentioned a gloss and asked if I had ever had that procedure done. I clearly stated no and don't need it because 90%!of the time I wear my hair curly. No more was said about the gloss until I saw $55.00 on my invoice. I also paid $100 for women's haircut and you will see my hair before and after that does not look like $100 haircut to me. I also saw another charge that was labeled Vish for $43.24. From what I have observed, they have lots of good ratings although it's those rare few that are dismissed and are unnoticed . Please take note and be aware... Every appointment should be explained in detail as to what your expectations are, and by the stall is what is possible on their part. Additional services/product charges should be mentioned and explained before the service. A stylist time is valuable and so is yours just as valuable you are paying them for their time to do the service. Don't ever let anyone rush you and especially to pay and close out your tab before the process is complete I refused to sign the liability documents or pay the additional invoice. I never asked for a refund for my initial appointment. I was just hoping that the business would have taken accountability and make it right. The integrity of this business was definitely tested on July 15, 2025. L'Oreal (owner) do better
