What a great shop and what an excellent hair stylist Tamina is! I was greeted with a smile, asked if I wanted something to drink, and ushered directly to Tamina. She looked at the pictures I had found, listened carefully to issues I've had in the past, and gave me the cut that I asked for - it's sassy, full of body - the perfect cut. I don't say this lightly because I have very fine straight hair. Most people haven't a clue how to cut it right, aren't precise in their cut, and don't know how to cut layers the right way for body...that is until I found Tamina. She gave me tips on how to style it at home and on better products for my hair. After many years, I've finally found a hair stylist that I'm sticking with. I found the place on Yelp. Amazing staffs with nice and warm salon. I wanted an Ash-look hair, I tried to do it at home but failed. Then, I finally found a place with availability to redo my "art" work. The first visit was not as I expected. However, I didn't put a lot of hope on it so I didn't mind. Then, I got a surprise phone call from Tea, the owner ( he wasn't the one who did my hair). He said he didn't like how my hair turn out and he would like to fix it for me. His magic completely transformed my hair to a beautiful balayage style. Love love love it. This is my first time going here and I chose to give this a chance due to the good reviews. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. I scheduled an appointment for 2:00 PM. I arrived and checked in at 1:50. I was not assisted till I had to ask the receptionist to make sure my appointment was correct at 2:45. the gentleman the proceeded to grab the stylist to assist me. When asking why it took so long he said "she just forgot". The stylist was nice and proceeded to apologize. My appointment was for a ladies long cut which is for an hour, and in that hour i was supposed to get a wash and cut with a style. The stylist took 10 minutes to dry cut my hair and walked me to check out. The price for the original cut was $75. i was charged $45 for the cut i received. When calling to speak to a manager, there was not much resolved. I can understand things happen, but it being a first experience was disappointing. The manager proceeded to tell me she would need to speak with the other parties and get their sides. Then says all she can offer me is an apology. I hope they can get situated so no one would have the same experience. read more

Prior to visiting Les Scissors, my hair looked like Cynthias from the Rugrats, it crackled and crunched like a bag of Lays chips, It was a deep fried mess. But then I met Zoe and Penny, and my days of horrid hair ceased to exist. They gave my withering hair the kiss of life. The big blonde birds nest on my head was transformed into a marvelous mane of lucious locs with the texture of the finest silk, my goodness even chinchillas would be jellous of how soft my hair was!! Not only are the staff at Les Scissors miracle workers, but the service I received was outstanding. They make sure that all of their customers feel welcome and comfortable, and they mannage to turn the typically tedious and long process of hair dying into something to look forward to. She even gave spiritual wisdom. I enjoyed talking with her and her faith. She had a different technique to twisting one part of you hair, lifting it up and then cutting it in layers. I came here to visit my parents for Christmas and just wanted a wash and blowout and it was the day after Christmas so many places had availability, but this place had some good reviews and was only 10 minutes from my parents house. I got there a little early and Amy was able to take me early which was nice, but it was a terrible experience. My hair is pretty healthy and every time I get my hair done my stylist always says how nice it is to quickly be able to blow dry my hair with a round brush. When my stylist is done, my hair is shiny, full of body and so soft to the touch. So, with that preface I will share my Les Scissors experience. I had Amy as my stylist and she was nice but I had a bad feeling as soon as she started blow drying my hair. It was like she had no idea how to blow dry hair. My head never hurts when I get a blowout, but from the first time she started blow drying my hair, I felt tugs of hair that hurt so bad and I would squint and make a face (I could see my face in the mirror) and I k ow she knew it hurt because she would stop and let the hair go. Then she'd do it again and again! She probably pulled out so much of my hair. She was rough and never got even close to my roots and kept putting the hairdryer at the worst angles so my hair was frizzy and she probably damaged my ends! She kept blow drying my hair in the same spots which would ruin my healthy hair. I was cringing every time she did it. Over and over blow drying my dry hair and leaving my roots damp. It was the worst blowout I have ever in my life had. This should have been such an easy appointment she didn't even have to cut my hair. Then she left my bangs and started again holding the dryer in some weird angle and I finally just asked for the blow dryer and brush and finished it off myself. I just couldn't take it and could see how dry and unhealthy she was making my hair look and feel. Since I was able to do my bangs they were the only part of my hair that looked shiny and healthy. She never put a heat protectant on my hair or anything to protect. I hate writing bad reviews and I've been using yelp for 10 years and have only written two not so great reviews because I don't want to hurt someone's buisness, but when I do write one, you know it's because I don't want anyone else to go through what I went through. Oh I didn't even mention yet how she got my hair (a good amount) stuck in a clip. She wasn't at all careful when she was sectioning out my hair and so something happened and my hair got stuck. She kept trying for more than five minutes to get it out of the clip, but couldn't get it out and ended up calling the receptionist who after another five minutes got it out but it was tangled and it was right at the top of my head. She was tugging and every time she pulled it hurt so bad. I was so scared she was going to pull out my hair, or worse cut it and I'd have alfalfa hair!!! So terrible. I was sitting there just thinking I had to get her hands off my hair. So I finished my hair myself. I hated it so much and it looked terrible! I went home and had to wash and moisturize my hair with a hair mask, wash it again and dry it out myself- which totally was such a waste of my $47 (yes I tipped her still!) Honestly I cannot believe they charged me for such a horrible, painful experience. I literally threw my money away and wasted an hour of my time and dealt with the pain of her pulling my hair (after I told her my head is very sensitive to tugging and pulling so I asked her to please be gentle while washing my hair and blow drying it. Please please be careful if you decide to try this place! My hair after a blowout stays beautiful for at least 3-4 days. After going to Amy, my hair felt course and I had to wash my hair as soon as I got home before our dinner. Lesson learned, when visiting other cities, do my own hair! It's sad to say that, because that's why you have salons, but if they are like this, it's not worth messing up your hair! After going back through the reviews I saw many that talked about how Amy butchered people's hair so I am sooooo thankful I didn't do a haircut with her, but still am sooo upset with what happened. A blow out for a stylist is the easiest thing to do, how does a professional mess that up this bad??? Be careful if you go here, just my experience- so hopefully nobody else has to go through this! read more
