Purple dip dye tips on black hair

I went there for the first time and had a great experience. I went in for a haircut and my daughter wanted to dip dye her hair. I got my haircut from Amy and May did my daughter's hair. They did a wonderful job and were very nice toward my daughter since it was her first time and took a while. They did a lot better than the pictures I showed them. My daughter is very happy. My haircut was also very adorable with shampoo and styling!

If I could leave zero stars after today I would. I came in for highlights and a cut. I have come to New Looks many times over the last 3-4 years. The first few times I came, it looked great (Amy). Three & four visits ago, my hair came out orange and yellow (Amy) and I did not feel she cared as she stated it was my base color despite my base color never being orange so I tried a different stylist (Donna). The last time Donna did my hair it looked great and she removed all of the orange. However, I saw Donna again today and she turned my hair purple. What is so frustrating is that she did not apologize or take ownership of the mistake she made. Instead, she said she used the same product as last time and claimed my hair is platinum. I told her my hair indeed is not platinum. It is purple. She said that she could put a different kind of toner on. It did not look much better after that so she offered to re-bleach my hair, which as everyone knows for over toned, over processed hair the worst thing you can do is add more bleach. I told her I don't understand the back looks fine but the front is purple. She blamed it on my hair being thin. I left in tears and still had to pay $160.

Asked for a round brush blowout with soft curls. I have semi curly hair and the blowout helps keep the volume. Got what I asked and in less of the time I expected however the process to get there wasn't what I wanted bc the excessive use of the flat iron to make those curls damages my hair . Don't think I'll be back but prices were good and so was the service.

I been looking for a good salon in Sugar Land that charge the same price as Chinatown, and finally I found it! I call on Sunday morning to make appointment with Amy. I was lucky to get a spot at 1030am. I got there and waited for 10 mins then she greeted me. I got my hair wash, cut and styled for the same price in Chinatown. Amy was very nice and gave me recommendation on how much to trim. I told her I wanted to do blow out and I love how she did it! Overall, good vibe and nice people with great skills.

I always love going to Paul and Amy as they have cut my family and I's hair for the past serval years. This year in particular, I finally ventured out and got a balayage from Amy, and let me tell you, I trust her with my hair and my life! Very professional, beautiful styling, I love coming back to New Looks and coming out of it refreshed and a new cut! Two different balayage at two different times!

So it has been maybe a week and I've washed my hair with color safe shampoo 2 times and the color is completely gone .The random purple streaks are still there which is odd but Everything else is like a brassy color . It doesn't look horrible but definitely not what I wanted it to be .Cuts are amazing but anything else don't do it !! The first picture on my original review was what it was supposed to look like the next one was what it ended up as the first day .

Paul and Amy are very respectable people, and the staff are amazing as well. Customer service is up to par, as well as the cuts they give. Be specific in what you want, and you shall receive (: Thank you to all for always giving the best cuts to my family and I.

Thank you, Amy for helping me with my hair braid and flowers for my Bharathanatyam dance recital. It was perfect and I had no issues for the entire recital. Will definitely take your help in future as well

Was really happy with my cut here at New Looks, went to another hair salon beforehand like 3 days prior. I did like my cut they did there but maybe not as much because I wanted my hair to be thinned out some more and shorter. But the lady who helped me (i don't think i got her name, i'm just going based off the card i read at her station but perhaps , May?) did not disappoint, i love how patient was with me and was very sweet the entire process. Thank You !!

Terrible for hair cuts! I went to get a woman's haircut on my blonde hair and the service was absolutely horrendous. I asked the lady if she had the shampoo for colored hair and she ended up using some very drying shampoo. She also charged me $15 for a "hair mask" she used. She then blow dried my hair without putting any products and gave it a blunt cut. They don't know how to work with textured hair/dry hair and don't condition at all. It's unbelievable how she charged me and let me walk out the salon like that.

My haircut was lopsided. Asked for a wet cut and they cut it dry. Probably why it came out lopsided.

I got there a few mins before my appointment and Helen was a little late but her process and service made up for it. I previously had 3-4 curl perms at my normal salon but I was looking to straighten my hair back and get a trim. I got the keratin express treatment. I had a wash and cut, along with the treatment and my hair came out amazing. Helen was very meticulous and took her time with my cut, blow dry, and straightening. I have never been more satisfied with a haircut from a salon. I was told to wash my hair in 3 days and blow dry. When I washed my hair, it still came out a bit wavy from my old curl perm and I didn't have a blow dryer to straighten as I'm in the middle of moving but my hair has looked and felt healthier than ever which is more important to me. I will definitely be going back to Helen whenever I visit family in the area.

The establishment was nice and clean on the inside, there were only two hairdressers working with the rest of the chairs sitting empty. The original hairdresser I had booked with had a migraine and called out, so I was rescheduled with Helen. She cut my both children's hair. Both of my girls had trims only - maybe an inch a piece on dry, clean hair. That's it. No wash, no dry, no curl or style. Just trims. Based off the pricing online, I was expecting to pay maybe $20 per child (online said kids cuts are $13 and up). They charged me $100! For two trims! When I asked the front desk receptionist about the high prices, she verified with me that they had not received any additional services that would make the price increase that much, stated that she didn't believe the website had been updated in a while & that basically the hairdresser set those prices and there was nothing she could do about it. She was sweet and kept apologizing but I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere. The prices are outrageous and it's basically a "well, that's just how it is" attitude. I expect more out of a Sugar Land business. Very disappointed.

I visited Madison Reed for an all-over color and blowout, and while the blowout itself was fine,…read morethe color service was extremely disappointing. The colorist left noticeable staining all along my hairline, my ears, around my neck. It was not subtle, it looked sloppy and unfinished. This is something that should have been cleaned before I ever left the chair. Instead, I walked out of the salon looking like the service was rushed and incomplete. I've since had to spend hours trying to remove the dye from my skin, and ultimately had to rewash and restyle my hair the very same day because there was no way I could comfortably go out in public like that. For the price point, this is simply unacceptable. When you pay for a professional color service, you expect to leave looking polished, not like you have to fix the work yourself at home. I'm sharing this because I think it's important for management to be aware of the quality control here. I would appreciate someone reaching out to address this situation.

Not once did she say that my photo was Out of reach. NevI told her I want highlights noticeable for sure. Then Lexi stated "oh absolutely you're gonna definitely see that pop ."Once shampooed, blow dried, it was immediately obvious that my hair was not going to look even slightly close to the photo. Cora and Lexi insisted that it was beautiful, stunning, perfect, etc. etc.. L'Oreal asked what's going on. I explained the look is too dark and did not look like the photo at all. Then I noticed copper mark stain on my hair, Cora said "oh that's an easy fix" and Lexi mixed some color and try to bring the copper stain on my hair down. The owner, L'Oreal also tried to tell me that the orange /copper stain was natural. The mark was not natural. There was a hiccup somewhere in the process, but Lexi did not take ownership. At the end of the day, I wanted my hair repaired. I wanted highlights something at least slightly close to the photo I showed them. The day of my appointment, was going on three hours and I was rushed to pay my invoice and close out my tab before the services were complete. I thought that was odd, I had never done this in the past. It was very unprofessional, but in good faith I paid a total of $358.24 plus a $75 tip which was 20% of the total. Once Lexi completed my hair, she was frustrated because I felt it was still too dark and stated "I don't think you know what you want." Next morning when I woke up, I knew it was still too dark and if it was going to lighten it should've already in a day or two. So I called about 10 in the morning and spoke to the receptionist. I explained my situation and she immediately accommodate me with another appointment at 3:30 with Kat since Lexi was not scheduled to be there on Wednesday. Well when I came in Kat asked what was wrong and I was very specific as to what had happened step-by-step the day before. She gave me the impression that she understood the assignment and continued her best to correct the issue. She even went as far as doing a test foil to see just how light my hair would lighten without damage. Once that was completed, L'Oreal came out and this whole session begin. L'Oreal questioned everything that her stylist was doing and asked me to move to a different station because someone else was going to take care of me. This third stylist, I believe her name was Ashley had no idea what was actually happening. Ashley was very soft spoken, professional, demonstrated empathy throughout our whole interaction. Ashley asked me to please show her the initial photo that I had presented yesterday. I showed it to her and she explained what the necessary process would be. L'Oréal once again comes out gives Ashley a liability contract for me to sign and another invoice for an additional $300+ to correct their mistake. Please keep in mind. I had already paid the day before a total of $358.24 plus a $75 tip. This included $160 for the partial highlight, Gloss $55 which I never approved. Upon my arrival, the day of my appointment Lexi briefly mentioned a gloss and asked if I had ever had that procedure done. I clearly stated no and don't need it because 90%!of the time I wear my hair curly. No more was said about the gloss until I saw $55.00 on my invoice. I also paid $100 for women's haircut and you will see my hair before and after that does not look like $100 haircut to me. I also saw another charge that was labeled Vish for $43.24. From what I have observed, they have lots of good ratings although it's those rare few that are dismissed and are unnoticed . Please take note and be aware... Every appointment should be explained in detail as to what your expectations are, and by the stall is what is possible on their part. Additional services/product charges should be mentioned and explained before the service. A stylist time is valuable and so is yours just as valuable you are paying them for their time to do the service. Don't ever let anyone rush you and especially to pay and close out your tab before the process is complete I refused to sign the liability documents or pay the additional invoice. I never asked for a refund for my initial appointment. I was just hoping that the business would have taken accountability and make it right. The integrity of this business was definitely tested on July 15, 2025. L'Oreal (owner) do better
