I am enrolled in the medical assistant program! The teachers are wonderful and they help you understand what to do and how to do it.

Is this a good school to go to if I want to become a surgical technician? Do they offer job assistance after training?

I signed up for an EKG technician course during this pandemic to hopefully get my foot in the door…read moreat a better job. From the beginning I should've known that the school is not a reputable school. They are worried about taking your money right away before giving you a curriculum or even a tour of the school. The classroom I was personally in fits 3 people and the equipment used to taught the course was all non functional. The first day was a mandatory CPR course (which i get why you need in the medical field) but all it was was showing us a video that asked us to follow the video with a dummy that we did not have. When Dr. Raymond came back in the room he taught the most basic cpr instructions on a a gross looking dummy for about 10 minutes. The classrooms were full of old unusable equipment and photos of students from the early 2000's. I learned everything straight from the book/the internet on my own. Dr. Raymond's lectures are about 10 minutes long (if you're lucky) where he says nonsensical things or reads straight from the book. I asked him questions countless times and was left more confused than before as it was like he didn't know what he was talking about. He accidentally left me a voicemail talking trash about his students with the other teacher(his wife) and how students all think they know everything. At the end of my course I took my test in person and in writing(not electronically) and did not hear back anything about my results. I finally called and was answered by a rude receptionist saying she was sure she sent me the link to my certificate. Dr. Raymond did not offer me job placement even though I made sure to ask when I signed up if that's something they did. His wife assured me that they did. Instead I got a call from him offering to pay me $9 an hour to teach his EKG course for 2 hours a day, 2 days a week. (So a whopping $36 a week to teach others things I barely learned on my own) TLDR: do not go here if you want a real education. If you want to pay to go sit in a gross outdated classroom, read straight from a book everyday, and listen to the Doctor take personal phone calls while sitting in class with you trying to read about what he's about to "lecture" you on then this is the place! Also beware and ask about ALL THE FEES. As the test is not included, nor is CPR.

I would to begin by thanking Avalon Medical Career Academy for offering the Phlebotomy Program. It…read moreallowed myself to discover the path towards my successful career. The instructor Allistor, was a wonderful teacher, and answered all of our questions. He was extremely patient and thoroughly identified different methods to locate veins. He also explained how to poke and draw blood using different needle gauges. Allistor was definitely a team leader and I genuinely enjoyed this course.. I was encouraged to read both the Phlebotomy Third Edition book and also the Phlebotomy Quick Study flyer. Highly Recommend taking this program!

Pima has awesome instructors that actually care about there students and want them to do well…read more Besides that the financial aid department went out of there way to take care of all my financial needs. They contacted the VA. And got the ball rolling and assisted me with my pellet grant, if I had money coming to me, I didn't have to press them. It was automatic. Everyone from the instructors to student services, and the book store are awesome, I made the right decision attending Pima Medical of Houston. Thank you for everything. I am proud to tell everyone that I went to, PIMA MEDICAL INSTITUTE.

If you are considering being a standard cleaning only patient, my experience says beware…read more They have you come in for XRays and then tell you a dental hygenist will call to set up an appointment. I was required to get an approval from my doctor for them to clean my teeth and they faxed a form to my doctor. The problem occured when I followed up (Pima didnt bother to contact me) with my doctor and said they received and returned. I called Pima and was told the form they received was not signed by my doctor. They said they would send another. I called my doctor who said they did not undertand how Pima could say doctor didn't sign. They received the form again, but Pima fax number was not on form. They attempted to contact Pima repeatedly, but did not receive a call back. I called Pima several times myself and did not receive a call back. So, all I can say is Buyer Beware when it comes to being a patient with Pima Dental Program in Houston, TX.

I was a student at HCC for roughly 2 semesters. I have a bachelors degree from UCF and have…read morereturned to school to pursue a masters, however, needed a few prereqs. I live in Katy, TX and am considered an out of district student, but I decided to go ahead and pay the additional fees. In my short time here is a list of how I was treated. HCC is a school that cares about how much $$$ it can make, not student success. They are good at faking it, but really they have hired a bunch of staff who view it as just a job and not a place were people are changing their lives, need guidance, communication, & support. 1. First advisor was so rude to me, she told me stop talking on the phone. I had reached out to her because after trying to get in touch with her for weeks over email, she finally responded with a generic message how to send in transcripts etc. I called and she happened to answer and was so short & rude to me. 2. I finally had my transcripts sent. The office wouldn't accept them because I had my email CC'ed when they were sent to HCC. So I spent the $15 dollars and they made me repurchase them despite the fact I never opened the transcript, it was sent from the school directly to HCC and it was official. 3. I enrolled in Anatomy 1 online course. First day of class, the entire HCC online system was having issues and half the students couldn't log in. The school sent a message to the entire staff what happened was an IT error, however, my professor still was going to ding us for not showing up to class. She said we should have reached out to IT, had better internet etc etc. IT WAS A SYSTEM OUTAGE. 4. I enrolled in Chem and had to withdrawal from a class for the first time ever in my collegiate career. The professors exams were show your work type questions worth anywhere from 8-10 points each. If you didn't get the entire thing right, your received ZERO points. So what was the point of the written exam then? I tried to talking to her about it and she said I didn't study hard enough. I studied 28 hours I clocked for her exam and she gave me a 50%, refused to explain things to me or work with me so I had to drop. I emailed the head of that dept and she didn't seem to care either. I also heard that same chem professor did the same to several students and even kicked a student out of class for yawning, giving him a zero on his exam. 5. I have attempted to set up a payment plan with this school and was told no or told I can have it broken in half. Just ridiculous. They do not care about your financial situation it seems, want to work with or help their students because unless you pay in full, you cannot enroll in other classes so your education is essentially put on hold. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME.

I'm so glad to be done with my associates degree there. The service, communication and system they…read moreuse is all terrible. Once I enrolled in another college I was blown away how I was being treated, complete night and day difference compared to how my experience was at hcc.
