An older uncle type man ended up being my stylist. He cut it dry, made sure to do a thorough job with the color, washed, styled, trimmed my hair again and was pretty fast. He seemed to genuinely enjoy his job, which I'm not used to seeing. They did chatter in Vietnamese and it seemed like a good work dynamic. The prices were reasonable. I'm used to paying a lot more. After not being happy with my previous hairstylist and trying out four other hairstylists, I thought I was never going to be happy with my haircut again. A friend recommended Cindy to me and I was excited because it's a short drive from where I live. My search for a skilled hairstylist is over!! Cindy is hands-down one of the best in the business. She really listens to what you're looking for. You can be straightforward and honest and she will do the same for you. My first impression walking in her salon is the cleanliness and decor. I was pleasantly surprised as I was expecting much less than that. It's located in a strip so you might have to look extra close to find it. Her daughter works the front a lot and she is very polite and friendly when you walk in. Oh, and they take walk-ins which is great! Of course you might have to wait a while on evenings and weekend, but bring a book or iPad and plan for it. It's worth the wait! I was very specific in that I wanted blue based brown highlights versus red based highlights. I showed her a picture from Pinterest and she explained to me that my hair will have a red tone if I wanted it like the girl's hair in the picture. You can tell she knows what she's talking about and isn't afraid to set realistic expectations for you. She made sure to take care of me and even told me that if I wasn't happy with my highlights, she would tone it down right after. She is very easygoing and funny and doesn't pressure you into purchasing any of the products. I didn't think she would remember me the second time I came in but she immediately knew who I was when I walked in. Talk about customer service! She really gets to know all of her clients. You can't beat the price. Salons in central Houston would cost me $250 for those services with my long hair. You get the best value for your money with Cindy. I've recommended two friends the salon and both plan on returning. I went shopping at the outlets two days after my last appointment and had 2 different girls ask me where I got my highlights. read more

He would tell me, "I have been going to get my hair cut by Cindie for the last 18 years. I got my girlfriends to go here, my exes still go here, my girl friends go here..." So like the butthead I was, I didn't get my hair cut here until last Saturday. (cue the heavenly angel music) $25!!!! $25 pre-tip for a women's long hair cut, shampoo with scalp massage, and blow dry. $25! She styled it way cuter and put better movement into it than my expensive salon. I hate spending more than $40 on a hair cut and really struggled with some other places. CONS: this place is way the heck out there for you downtowners, an appointment is recommended, and she probably won't honor the exact time. (She's on Asian time, but who isn't?) AND I love that she has fine hair just like me. She said, "What shampoo do you use?... PANTENE?!?! All those supermarket brands will just make your fine hair break. That's why you have all those fly-aways. They're fine for people with thicker hair. You need to invest in salon-quality stuff." And then there was NO pressure to buy her salon products. So I went to Costco. -----------BOTTOM LINE------------ 1. She works well with all kinds of hair, but is especially good with fine and thin hair. 2. She does a really good hair cut that will put movement back into your dead ends. 3. It's priced really well. 4. OMG, the scalp massage! Again, again! 5. They wash your hair as you walk in and when you are done with the haircut, that's awesome that they do that. It's a clear indication that they keep their sh*t clean. All I did was show them a picture and they took care of the rest. They are very professional in their conduct. If anything they are more deserving for charging 15$ for a haircut and a tip for their excellent service. They style your hair which is exactly what a customer wants.
