This spa is beautifully decorated with many amenities to make it a relaxing experience. There are large waiting areas in different areas that are decorated in calm, neutral colors with plenty of seating. Light snacks, like cranberries and nuts are provided along with hot tea options, and citrus flavored water. The space is very nice. There are locker rooms with plush spa robes and complementary slippers. The locker room has two steam showers if you want to wash yourself after your massage. They also provide hair products to try as well as a Dyson hair dryer. I was definitely very impressed with the luxurious feel of the spa, however, was turned off by the receptionist who checked me in - her robotic, transactional nature was starkly juxtaposed against the warmth of the spa. I noticed she was the same with all customers so it wasn't personal but interaction with her was unsettling. I booked the 60min signature hydrafacial and the esthetician was welcoming and willingly customized my facial based on my requests. No major issues encountered but I noticed we started 10 minutes late and ended 10 minutes early so I thought marketing it as a 60min experience was a bit misleading. Also note the 60min Signature Hydrafacial does not include any hand/neck massages nor boosters nor light therapy so the $285 price was much more expensive than my usual spa. I will not return for another facial but may try massage in the future. We also booked pedicures and again the space is beautiful!! We were given a palette to select colors and the ladies were extremely friendly! My toes came out adorable! I found the seating to be very uncomfortable for a short person despite many pillows placed behind me for support so I honestly struggled to enjoy the experience but the space was very nicely decorated and clean looking. We were offered tea and snacks at the beginning as well. Overall, this was a very nice spa. I found it fairly expensive and overpriced, but I recognize beautiful spaces have a cost and that's what I should've expected in the River Oaks area. I've been going to milk + honey since 2017. While I don't live in Houston, I visit family here at least once a year and try to schedule a massage each time. While I used to be loyal to milk + honey, I will be taking my business elsewhere moving forward. Each of the last 2 times I've booked, milk + honey has called me the day of to request that I reschedule as the provider I've been booked with has called out. I appreciate that emergencies arise, but the default option for milk + honey is to reschedule rather than find an alternative solution for the day you're booked. In one instance, I had 3 massages booked for the same day (for myself and family) and they still couldn't figure out a solution. Ironically, you won't be given the same grace as a customer since they'll charge you 50% of your service if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice. As a working professional and someone who has limited time in town, I'd rather go somewhere where my time and business is valued. I recommend you do too. read more

This was my first time here and I am beyond disappointed by the lash lift service. Priscilla was the one who performed this service. I wish I read the reviews on here sooner about this service and I plan to go tomorrow in person for a resolution. I have gotten lash lifts a handful of times one being a few months ago and decided to stop by here since I was recommended by a friend. I paid $145 +tip for a lash lift and tint and I was horrified. First, I woke up with my eyes burning!!! That has never happened before. Then i when i woke up i was handed a mirror and couldn't really see since my eyes were BURNING. So i decided to pay and go home. In the car my eyes were still watery so i couldn't really tell, then when I got home I NOTICED NOTHING. For that price and noticing nothin? Maybe MAYBE they're a big darker. I have a photo of what they look like now and what my lashes usually look like with a lift. Don't bother coming here unless you want a massage. read more

Disaster!!! I went in this morning for a bang cut and it wasn't good! When I went in they were right at my eyebrows and I asked for them to be right above my eyebrows. Isabella cut one side of my bangs so short that I had to stop her from finishing because I was worried about how short she made them on one side. I did start crying and got out of the chair to go to the front. I went and spoke to the manager Linda Huong and she told me "It's just hair, it will grow back. If you would like someone to fix them it will still be the same price point". Way to go Linda - worry about the $25 not the crying and upset client! A very nice hairstylist named Hannah explained how short she would have to go to correct the unevenness, but given the crookedness that Isabella caused this was the only way to fix them. She was lovely and did her best to correct the disaster that Isabella caused. Thank you to Hannah for being so kind and understanding of the situation. When I went out to the front desk, Linda charged me for the bang cut and then told me I could leave a tip for Hannah if I wanted to, or not. As if I don't understand the service industry. Of course I left a tip - and I was insulted by her even saying that. I explained to her that I would be leaving a Yelp review of my experience (my last bang cut with Bee was not good either) and her response was, "Would you like to cancel your future bookings with us?". I then canceled a bang cut in two weeks because clearly I won't be needing it and kept my normal full haircut in February with my regular stylist Jenny who is the best hairstylist I have ever had. Why would I leave Jenny because Isabella and Linda are terrible? Linda's management philosophy seems to be we failed you, so let's make sure you don't come back so I don't have to deal with you...She didn't even consider that my family also comes there for hair services. It's a domino effect of lost revenue when you act like this Linda. I highly recommend accounting 101 and a class on customer service. Linda Huong - you should be embarrassed by your response to this situation! Even more-so, Milk and Honey should be embarrassed that they were more worried about $25 than what they did to my hair and how I have to look until it grows back. read more

I went here to use a gift certificate that I received for a 60-minute deep tissue massage. It's 75 minutes overall because 15 minutes is for changing to a plush robe and slippers that they provide. They also have a shower and steam room, which I didn't use. They ask you to fill out their online form so that you can specify the type of massage you want, focus areas, areas to avoid, and gender preference of your masseuse...among other things. After changing, you go to their lounge which has seating, pillows, magazines, teas, infused water and dry snacks. Once they are ready for you, you are taken to a room with a heated massage table that can be raised and lowered. Charles was one of the best masseuse that I've ever had. He worked on my focus areas and applied the right amount of pressure. I definitely recommend having him. Overall, it was a wonderful pampering experience. It's just too pricey for me. I booked two last-minute services at milk & honey Houston--one of which was exceptional, and the other unfortunately missed the mark. My massage with Olivia exceeded every expectation. She is incredibly skilled, attentive, and truly exceptional at her craft. I've already recommended her to many friends in the area. However, my blowout experience was disappointing. The result felt more like a simple wash-and-dry, with none of the volume, polish, or styling one would expect from a professional blowout. It fell so flat that, at the event I was attending shortly after, my team even asked why I hadn't had my hair done--which was quite embarrassing. I parked in an unmarked unreserved spot with no sign that indicated the spot was not available nor that payment was required (in the garage). There was no prominent signage. In the garage. I received a 90 dollar ticket from the property management company weeks later. I was not alerted to the ticketing system without signage on the spot. I simply asked milk and honey to call the property management company and let them know (because I had attempted multiple calls and voicemails with zero response property management system) or to get someone on thr phone from the company that I could speak with and they refused. They could only provide me with a generic email address. Additionally, when I attempted to scan the code a second time, it had my time incorrect and would not process which will result in another ticket. When I called the company on the ticket, I was on hold for 2 hours and no one answered. I left voicemails to no avail. I asked milk and honey how to get in contact with them if they wont call me back and she said she was not responsible for the parking. I asked for an actual manager and she said they were on vacation. She was rude and dismissive. It's unfortunate that they don't alert you when you come for your appointment if you are new that you can be fined for parking in a spot that has no signage indicating the need to go on a scavenger hunt for a QR Code Especially since the stylists and aestheticians and clinicians are excellent and friendly. Make sure when you go to seek out the QR code located in one of the walkway entrances (it is not on every exit to the area where the stores are so it's easy to miss) if you find a space that appears to be open. You have to just know and search for one of the QR codes - but they are far away from the spots and could be missed so just make sure to find one. You HAVE to find the sign with the QR code and scan when you arrive. You can't just scan when you leave and if you forget it's impossible to get a hold of anyone to correct it. So just be careful. read more

This review is long overdue. I've been a customer at Milk and Honey, River Oaks, for a couple of years. Over that time, I've enjoyed massages--especially my prenatal massages--manicures, pedicures, and even facials. The spa had always been great to me, and I truly miss it. However, I feel it's important to share the disappointing experience that led me to stop going. Earlier this year, as a new mom and graduate student constantly on the go, I decided to try their lash lift service. I thought it would be a time-saver since I rarely have as much time to get ready as I used to. My appointment was one of the last of the day. The technician was welcoming, sweet, and easy to talk to, and the appointment started off well. It's important to include that a lash lift works by applying a chemical solution to the lashes for a specific amount of time to create a long-lasting curl. In my situation I can't say whether the technician left the solution on for the correct duration, but when the service was done, my lashes were completely straight--straighter than before. There was no curl at all. Their website describes the service as: "Enhance your natural beauty with our lash lift service. Imagine waking up to effortlessly glamorous lashes that beautifully frame your eyes... Our skilled technicians will carefully lift and curl your lashes, creating a stunning wide-eyed look that lasts for weeks. The service starts at $90." That is what I expected and was prepared to pay for--plus tip. Unfortunately, the results did not match the description. When I explained this to the receptionist, she called the manager on duty. I spoke to the manager briefly, but she didn't offer any solution--she simply walked away, presumably to talk to the technician, and never returned. Instead, another staff member (possibly another manager) came to speak with me. That's when the conversation took a turn. They told me I still needed to pay because "product had been used" on my lashes. Even worse, they suggested maybe my lashes were the problem, saying not all lashes take well to the chemical. My immediate thought was: if that's the case, the website should clearly state that results are not guaranteed. Without a disclaimer, the service description reads like a promise of curled lashes--which was absolutely not my result. They insisted I still needed to pay in full because "product had been used" on my lashes. I made it clear I wasn't trying to get something for free; I simply did not receive the service as promised. Eventually, after much discussion, they told me I would not have to pay. While I appreciated that outcome, the process felt unnecessarily drawn out and uncomfortable--almost as if I were being treated like I was in the wrong for speaking up. The second manager remained polite, but it was clear she wasn't happy about the decision. For a spa that markets themselves as a high end experience I expected better customer service, especially for a loyal customer who has spent quite a bit there over the years. I share this experience so that others know situations like this can happen. While I miss the spa, this incident has cost them my business. I hope they will train their management to handle customer concerns with more professionalism and care in the future. read more

I felt very comfortable. They had a 5x robe and XL slippers, so I knew that this was going to be an awesome experience. They offer a multitude of services, but I chose a massage and wax. I wanted a very deep issue massage. I typically go male as my body holds onto acid. I also have tight, deep tissue, so masculine pressure is preferred. My masseur was Oscar. He was very professional, polite, warm, and supportive. He kept confirming if the pressure was acceptable. She had gone recently too and hated it just as much, so I figured it's worth sharing. I booked my appointment over the phone, got an email confirmation, and even put down a deposit. On the day of my appointment, I showed up, waited about 30 minutes, and then the receptionist told me there'd been some kind of system issue and my appointment wasn't even registered. Annoying, but whatever, they said they could still fit me in. An hour after my original appointment time, I finally got in the chair. I had booked both a haircut and color, but because they were so behind, I was told I could only pick one. Pretty frustrating. I went with color. It turned out fine, but honestly nothing special, especially for the price. I expected better. On top of that, the vibe in the salon wasn't great, my stylist was a bit cold and I just didn't enjoy being there. The amenities here are amazing from the steam shower to the fresh blackberries and tea you can snack on in the waiting area. Parking is a little tight but there is a lot so you should be able to find it.
