I enjoyed the exfoliation scrub and shea butter with the Hydrating Body Glow treatment. Your skin is left feeling buttery soft. Thuy was professional and kept a relaxed environment the whole time. You can enjoy the jacuzzi, sauna, and pool before or afterwards. Mokara has a decent weekday deal - a treatment, 2 drinks, and $28 credit at Birdies all for a reasonable price. I've done many a massage and few facials but this was my first *spa* experience and May I say I'm hooked! They have an awesome Thursday special which includes a glass of champs, a 50 minute massage, and a quick facial for $135 (+ auto gratuity for total $167). You can also enjoy their other spa amenities. I had a 2PM appointment and arrived early. The spa is inside the Omni hotel and they validate parking in the hotel deck. I was immediately greeted and filled out my questionnaire before being escorted to the locker room where they have thick comfy robes and nice slippers for you to wear. I was brought my glass of champagne and awkwardly was drinking it in the locker room bacuse I didn't realize there was a whole relaxation room on the other side. Once informed I moseyed over to the relaxation room which has 3 private napping pods with plush blankets and ole seating. There is bottled and flavored fountain water available. My masseuse called my name and we discussed my pressure preference before starting my massage. I'm usually a deep tissue girl and this was my first Swedish massage. While lovely, I prefer deep tissue. I also wasn't a fan of the fact that the face mask was out in during my massage. I think it would be better to have it placed after my massage and have a few more minutes to just relax with it. But my masseuse Evelyn was awesome and I'd request her again. I then went back out to the relaxation room and had a cup of tea and a little nap in a pod. After I went back to the locker room where the one person sauna and jacuzzi are. I loved the sauna. It was pretty dry but I could adjust the heat to my presence. I only stuck my feet I. The jacuzzi since I forgot my bathing suit. Made a reservation online a few days before my appointment, simple enough process. The evening before I was called to confirm my appointment. Location/Arrival: The spa is located inside the Omni Hotel. Upon turning off from Woodway you take the driveway until the end which leads to the hotel. Have option to self park (garage) or valet (the spa does validate your parking). Once entering the hotel the front door man easily pointed me to the direction of the spa. The woman at the front desk for the spa was great and got me all checked in. Male area has a dry sauna (wish the main light could be dimmed), steam room (couldn't figure out how to make it work so didn't use it), a warm plunge pool, and two private showers. The area was very clean and plenty of towels. You receive a bathrobe and slides. There is soap/shampoo in the shower. Also sun block is available which I was surprised by, but appreciative of. Right outside the men's area is the waiting area for your services. Also very clean and peaceful. Massage: Nick was my masseur, he was great. He checked in a couple times to make sure pressure was right. Great experience. After my massage I went out and hung out by the pool for a bit. You have access with spa services. It's not a far walk from the spa. Pool was cold, as looks like the pool gets a lot of shade in the morning. Plenty of lounge chairs to relax on. Definitely will be returning. read more

I did not get to enjoy the facility for as long as I would hv liked but everything was nice, clean and everyone was friendly. I did sit in the sauna for a bit and loved it. I visited this spa last week and I am still in bliss! Celeste took care of me and made time stand still. Celeste provided me with several options for the scented oils. The fragrance was amazing and my skin felt simply luxurious. The Mokara Spa is beautiful and we stayed hours after our massage ended. It is so tranquil we didn't want to leave. My plan is to get a monthly massage in whatever state I'm in. So far, I've had great experiences and Mokara is currently ranked as number 1 in my book. To begin with, upon arrival, the manager was unbelievably rude. My fiancé and I were in the throes of preparing for our wedding and exhausted. We decided to book a couple's massage at the Mokara Spa to take a break from our rigorous schedules. We were in the massage room with two therapist and we were discussing and laughing about a situation related to our wedding, and we were told by my husband's therapist that we had to be quiet. That we could not talk during the massage. We were further told that the whole spa is a quiet zone and we had to respect others. Now mind you, we were in a private room, with a closed door and speaking in normal voices. In other words we were told to shut up and let them finish their massage. Their massage not ours. The decor is dated and the carpet is stained, The women's locker area is small with no privacy, the steam room reeks of mold and I would not tread into the whirlpool. They advertise that they serve champagne during your spa time, but the staff will tell you the management only allows you to have two glasses of champagne. I wasn't there for their cheap champagne so that did not matter to me, but I was a-palled by management's attitude. We belong at the Houstonian which is wonderful. I don't know why we chose to go to the Omni, but it was a bad choice. Shame on us. read more

I came to this spa for a birthday with a large group of my friends. It was impossible to all get treatments at the same time so we tried our best to get them relatively close. My appointment was for 1:30 and a few of my friends had appointments for 12:00. One of my friends ended up having to cancel her appointment because she had a spontaneous work trip, so she ended up flying to another city. She requested that my appointment be moved up in her time slot but was told she could not. I called the spa right after her and the gentleman on the phone cut me off and told me my appointment could not be moved because the spa was completely booked that day. I told him that my friend literally just called and canceled 100min of service just a couple of minutes ago and he cut me off again to say "I've already booked that." I find it hard to believe that he booked her slot in a matter of minutes but I digress. I had the 80 minute summer special Swedish massage. The massage was really nice but the room was instantly made my nose stuffy which was uncomfortable. I asked my friends if they experienced the same and all agreed that something in the massage rooms made everyone's noses stop up. Included with the spa treatments is access to the hotel pool. Perfect way to spend my birthday! This place is just absolutely amazing! I went here for a massage on my bday and had the most awesome experience. Not only is everyone super nice/friendly, but at the end of the massage they gave me a birthday card with sweet messages signed by the entire team coupled with a lovely candle. The ambiance, relaxation room, sweets, and mimosas/drinks were just heavenly and the fact that you get to pick your own aromatherapy scent was just the icing on the cake. 15th year wedding anniversary celebrated at the Omni. The hotel staff treated us like family. Left personal note from the room manager and a complimentary tiramisu in the room. Separate review on that.... This on site spa is class-A. Polite and attentive staff. Punctual and sincerely interested in the client. We did 90 minute couples massage and treated like royalty. All necessary toiletries are provided down to a toothbrush and personal razor. Feeling like a noodle we were so relaxed, we left the reception area after thanking them for their service. Mokara Spa has reopened with the hotel and it's still amazing! So tranquil and you can still relax in the wonderful chaise lounges in the meditation room before or after your service. The locker rooms still offer all the great amenities and even my favorite therapist, Annie was there to do my massage! Annie is the best ever - and my experience was just as great as last visit before hurricane Harvey! I suggest booking in advance before a weekend and make sure to get there at least an hour beforehand if you want to relax and have some champagne before your treatment. read more

I had a nice experience at Mokara today! The Omni offered me a free 60 minute massage as a bride-to-be staying at the hotel. It was funny getting my name called as my married name that I will earn on Sunday, but I smiled. The staff was so amazing - Simone taking my call, Wendy giving a tour, and Brandy offering the deal. My therapist was Elizabeth and she was outstanding. I definitely was soooo relaxed and I got good pressure (I asked for moderate to deep). The spa is smaller than many I have been to in Vegas but nice for a hotel and very beautiful. There is soothing music, locker rooms with soft robes, vanity area and showers, a small jacuzzi, and a dry sauna. Then, a "relaxation room" also the waiting room for treatment, stocked with snacks and juice/hot tea/water. I got champagne on request. This was a tranquil environment and definitely worth the money for the massage if I had to pay. The hotel included 20% gratuity in the free massage deal but I doubled it for the great massage. This is for anyone that is considering employment through this spa/ Omini hotel! I had an interview at 1 o'clock could not find the place left way early. There was so many parking garages as the sign for the hotel is not in front of the place. It's out in the street! A lady by the name of Emma Lopez was rude! Basically stating she put me down as a no call no-show I admit I didn't get there till 115 because I could not find the place called before one but left a voicemail due to no one answering. I had to hike up a quarter of a mile from another parking garage. Very unprofessional. I drove for 50 minutes to have to turn around and go back without the interview.. I was applying for an aesthetic job! For this interviewer to tell me she put me down for no call no-show when I called was unprofessional! Mokara Spa is a hidden gem! My boyfriend and I had a couples massage with two fabulous masseuses. Dan and Celeste were amazing!

I booked a couples massage for me and my girlfriend for a girls day. We were staying in the Omni so I thought it would be more convenient to book our massage at Mokara. While scheduling the appointment I originally set the time at 7pm but the person on the phone suggested to me to schedule it at 6 latest because they closed at 8 and if we did it at 7 we wouldn't have time to hang out in the lounge after our massage. So I ended up booking a 50-minute couples massage on Saturday. When arriving we were a little late (I also called beforehand letting them know we would be there 5 minutes late). We got there at 6:10ish and were given paperwork to fill out. That took us about 2 minutes (6:12). We were taken into the women's dressing room to dress in our robes and get comfortable and after meet our masseuses (6:17ish) The massage only lasted until 7pm... so about 40 minute massage... I'm not sure it was because we were a little late or they wanted to rush us out because we were the last ones there... My masseuse confirmed that all I wanted was a relaxation massage and I agreed. But during the massage I felt like it was as if she was just rubbing my back and not getting into the muscles. I didn't blame her because I assumed that's how a "relaxation massage" was. I asked her to go a little harder and she did, but it was not the best massage, sadly. After the massage we were offered some mimosas and to hang out in the lounge. The receptionist came to the lounge at 7:05 and told us the time and said we had until 8pm to hang out and take our time. Of course we were going to stay all the way until close.. We know how it feels to be at work and have the last and only customers stay all the way till close. Our plan was to finish our ONE glass of mimosa and go back to the room. A few minutes later the music stopped and it was awkwardly silent. I would have understood if it was past 8pm or close to it but it was only like 7:15.. The masseuse came out and offered more champagne but we were barely finished and she said she wanted us to at least have two glasses so she left the bottle there. Despite we were drinking mimosas (they threw out the oj already..) lol We decided to chug our glass so we can dress up and leave. Not worth $300 for being rushed and having only one glass... Sorry we were the last ones but how was I supposed to know no one gets massages on a Saturday evening lol read more

My husband and I stayed at the Omni Houston last weekend for an anniversary getaway. On the second day of our trip, I spotted a spa worker in the lobby and asked him if there was a fee to use the wet areas of the spa. He told me that the spa's wet areas, such as the sauna and whirlpool, were complimentary to hotel guests. Pleased to hear this, I decided that the next morning I would go down and have a nice soak in the whirlpool as well as a sauna session. Upon arriving at the spa, I checked in and was told there was a $20 day use fee. I really wanted to use the spa's amenities, so I paid the fee, and then was taken on a tour. If it weren't for the beautiful meditation room that is stocked with mimosas, I would have been disappointed. I visited the Mokara in San Antonio once before, and so I think I just expected more. Especially since the wet areas at the San Antonio Mokara are complimentary for Omni guests... The women's locker room is very small. 20 half size lockers, 2 toilet stalls, a teeny 2 person whirlpool, 2 shower stalls with bad water pressure, three or four sinks, and a small dry sauna. The sink area is stocked with toiletries from the drugstore. You would think that a Mokara spa would stock their locker rooms with toiletries that represent the luxuries they claim to provide. Things they don't have and should: Steam sauna Larger dry sauna Bigger whirlpool More water pressure Luxurious toiletries What (almost) made up for it all was the wonderful meditation room. There are three comfy chaises that are semi-privately draped with beautiful fabric. Champagne, wine, orange juice, and light snacks are provided. That was a nice touch. While the lovely attendant was giving me my tour, I mentioned to her that I had been to the San Antonio Mokara and how nice and spacious it was... I don't know if maybe I offended her, but when I was leaving, she and another employee at the front desk asked me how it was. I told them it was nice and relaxing, and the one who didn't take me on my tour said, "it's not the San Antonio Mokara though..." Almost like she was mocking me in a way, and I felt as if they may have been gossiping about how I compared them to the San Antonio spa. Anyway, I had mixed feelings about this place. I didn't feel that welcome, the amenities aren't that great, but the meditation room was stellar. read more

Treated myself to a facial and massage here and let me tell you....this facial left my face so soft that I didn't want to wash it! OMG! I was totally amazed. The massage was good too. I appreciate how the masseuse respected my private area yet gave me a full body massage. The spa itself is beautiful and relaxing. I love that you get to pick your own massage oil type. The plush robes are to die for (not those cheapy rough robes that some spas have). It was so tranquil and peaceful here. I definitely would visit again and again and again! read more

I've been to my fair share of spas and I was so happy when I found Mokara here in Houston. I had been looking for a spa that I could enjoy in H-town for those mini-vacation times. Mokara is by far the best spa I have found that can compare to the big names in Vegas and NYC. The staff was great and so attentive. I went in for a couple's massage and they treated us so well. Mokara is exactly what comes to mind when I think high end luxurious spa! I was greeted by a very friendly valet who was eager to help me get to my destination as I had never been before. Note if you come in to the hotel through the front, I believe the only ways to get to the spa are through a set of double doors leading outside OR by going upstairs to the 2nd floor and then coming back downstairs in to the spa. I tried to arrive 15 minutes early but Houston traffic had other plans. I still had a few minutes to change in to my blanket-robe and sink in to a large comfy chair in the relaxation room but I see why they recommend 15 minutes. The relaxation room has an assortment of wine and chocolate cookies...what else do you need? Celine was my massage therapist and my Mokara Massage was pure bliss. She applied just the right amount of pressure so that it was relaxing but didn't feel like I was just getting a light rub down. She used heated oil, her hands were always warm and she always made sure to position the pillow on my legs where it needed to go. I really wished that I could've laid there for 3 more hours lol! Tip: The tables have heated blankets to keep you warm during your massage - if you run hot you may want to ask that they turn the blanket off in preparation for your arrival. Next I got a the Mokara Mani/Pedi from Nicole and it was great. She was fun to talk to and she did a great job on my nails. Last I got a facial from Linda (my first one ever) and she was very good about explaining everything. She's been doing this for about 30 years so she definitely knows what she's doing. I may or may not be addicted to facials now. It was a perfect day to just spend on ME and I personally don't think it really gets any better than this! I went to the Mokara Spa at the Omni with my husband for a birthday massage and facial. We had a great experience. Upon hearing we were going to the spa the valet asked if we knew where it was and then guided us into the building to the spa. The reception was great and we were quickly in our bathrobes lounging in the relaxation room munching on their terrific array of snacks and drinking mimosas (poured for me by who I think was the manager). They definitely have the high-end spa service down. However, I took off one star because of a few issues that I think are eminently fixable. 1) I requested a couple's massage for my husband and I. However, somehow that got missed and by the time someone tried to address the situation, my husband was already in the middle of his treatment. 2) Even though I wrote that I preferred a deep tissue massage, I got a relaxing "spa massage." I didn't really mind because I ended up dozing off for most of the massage. Also, the therapist uses massage oil instead of a cream which made me feel a little oily afterwards. 3) The locker room facilities could use some updating. Even though the shower has the nice body sprays, you can't really use them because, the shower has terrible water pressure so to use the body sprays you would have to be about 4 inches from the wall. Also, the dispensers for the toiletries were broken so you had to open the top of the dispenser to get to the conditioner. Not really hygenic. 4) The Jacuzzi and Sauna are single sex in-locker room facilities. It would have been nice if they were co-ed so I could have enjoyed relaxing in them with my husband. Do not let these issues deter you from enjoying the spa. After both of our treatments both my husband and I were flopped on the comfortable chairs in the relaxation room, completely unwilling to move. Received a facial as a gift from my wife, which was excellent as expected for this premium spa. Relaxation room is a great feature with plenty of drinks/eats to keep you satisfied. However, we did not receive premium service following the facial. My wife and I's facials were scheduled for 90 minutes and both fell 10-15 minutes shy of that mark. In addition, upon checkout, we learned that gratuity is automatically added, which was not made clear to her when she booked or at time of arrival. When she expressed her concerns of the short time and surprise of the gratuity it was basically ignored. The facials were $195 each. When paying for premium services one would expect the service to carry throughout the experience, especially when 20% gratuity is automatically included. My experience at this spa the other day was awful. First of all, I was with a large party, many of us were getting manicures and pedicures...we were a party of 12. There was only ONE technician working and she was slow slow slow. What were yall thinking? My appointment was scheduled for 9:30am and I did not even begin to soak my feet until close 11am...that is unacceptable. To make matters worse, they asked us if we wanted to order food, but there was no warning about the ridiculous service charge...I guess it was "room service." I ordered an omelet...again, an omelet for $27! It did not have lobster or crab in it and cost $27...WTF. Almost $10 in service charge that is why. We were all surprised. More transparency is needed. We should have been forewarned. They get one star back for having complimentary mimosas and tasty cookies. read more

This is the best spa in Houston! We had a last minute idea for a girls day, was able to book 2 massages with less than 24 hour notice on a Holiday Weekend! I loved that the facility was tucked away somewhat tangent to the actual hotel but still on the premises. Made it seem more exclusive and private since it was away from the hotel action. The best part of the experience was the staff, they were all so sweet, so accommodating, and we never felt rushed or ignored. Very attentive but yet gave us enough space to relax. I loved my masseuse Annie, she was wonderful and was receptive to my needs. Free champagne and snacks in the lounge of course, the atmosphere was so relaxing it made it quite difficult to not fall right to sleep. The hot tub, sauna, showers, locker room were all clean, private, good size, and felt somewhat Vegas style. Adding to their standard amenities, the extra lush robes, free valet, and free use of the pool with no time limits made us feel like extra special VIP guests. After our massages we went to have lunch at the cafe in the hotel which was also really good. and then we were able to return to the spa and take our time checking out. The spa pricing was extremely reasonable for your service and all the added perks, the best part is that gratuity is included so you don't even have to think about it! This is a 5 star luxurious escape in Houston. I will book my return appointment as soon as possible. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to have a spa day prior to him moving to Nigeria for work. Sort of an early birthday for me, last hoorah for him. We got a couples package which included a massage, hot tub thingy, I got a facial and my nails done. I think he got a facial as well and one other thing. The facility is very lovely and the champagne and mimosas were free flowing. I was sort of disappointed that there wasn't any lunch as we were there for several hours and their little snacks weren't exactly very filling. The waiting area between treatments was so lovely and calm. Over all it was a great day at a great spa. I would also mention that they could step up their mani/pedi game just a bit. read more

My husband and I came here for our anniversary. Wonderful experience. We purchased the couples package, which I highly recommend. We came a couple hours early to just enjoy the complimentary spa amenities (hot tub, sauna, relaxation rooms, champagne), and then were escorted to a private room for a massage and jetted bath. Our masseuses were excellent, and they really listened to our preferences. Usually with massages I have to keep telling the provider to be more gentle (I am extremely sensitive around my neck and shoulders) but that was not the case here! I told the masseuse once to go easy on me, and she understood completely. The jetted bath at the end was very romantic and relaxing, a great way to end the visit. I do wish that the sauna and hot tubs were co-ed so I could have spent time doing that with my husband. But we still had an amazing time! read more

I visited the spa for the anti aging facial yesterday. Nicole was my facialist and she was wonderful! The treatment was both relaxing and stimulating and i could feel my skin tighten. It was a very nice and relaxing atmosphere and the ambiance is just what we wanted for our girls day. We usually go to the Houstonian Trellis Spa but we wanted to branch out for once.. And we are sure glad we did!!! The relaxation room was perfect and just what I wanted out of our girls day! As I mentioned we had the whole place to ourselves so it was nice and quiet. We are usually in the chaos of Trellis because it is usually overbooked! So this was a treat for us. My mom's massage therapist was Annie and she thought she did a great job!!! I just finished riding in the MS 150 and needed a serious sports massage to iron out my thighs and back muscles. I found this spa on Yelp (thanks Yelp) and took a chance because the two reviews it had were good. Annie, my therapist was AMAZING. She listened to my needs and was gentle yet firm on my body. I've never had stretching done to me, so I wasn't sure what to expect but she definitely knew what she was doing. I've had other 'expensive' massages, and this one was worth every penny!! There's no doubt that this is a luxurious spa. I recently came for a bridal shower spa party with a few close friends. The perks include free valet parking and use of the pool. We were really bummed that the pool was outdoors though because it was absolutely pouring outside when we were there, in true Houston fashion. It was also kind of weird that you have to go outside to get to the spa or take a really round about way through the 2nd floor. We came on a Saturday, so we had to be careful not to accidentally crash some wedding. The sauna and hot tubs are located inside the locker rooms. On one hand, I appreciate the privacy this provides, but the hot tub was really small and felt cramped. It could only fit 2-3 people comfortably. The lounge area is lovely. Comfy chairs and sofa and even an extra dimmed area if you want to have some shut eye. My massage was enjoyable. I don't get regular massages, so I feel like I always have a hard time getting relaxing into them plus the masseuse had to work extra hard to get all those knots out. I have to compliment the customer service. I worked with Simone to book our group. She was very prompt in getting back to me on all my inquiries and answered all my questions. Massage was good, the facilities are very nice. However, I docked off a few stars because in the meditation/relaxation room, there were these 2 ladies who were talking very loud for a very long time. I was trying to read and relax and I could hear their whole conversation and it was annoying. I did not have a relaxing spa day this time, and I like to pamper myself and unwind once in a while. Even the person who worked there came by and talked with them for a while and did not have the sense to ask them to speak quietly. I have been to some nice hotel spas and guests usually talk quietly or there is a sign that says to keep conversation to a low volume. I did complain to management, so will see if it happens again. read more
