I had a great experience at Salontrose! Once you enter the salon, you go up the stairs where the check-in lobby and salon is located. The check-in area has a coffee station, mini fridge, and some snacks. After I checked in, I grabbed a cup of coffee and was promptly greeted by Hailey. I showed Hailey my inspiration photos and what I would like done with my hair. Hailey explained to me that my original vision would probably not be the best option since my hair is on the thinner side. However, Hailey came up with an alternative option and she delivered! I'm so glad I followed her advice and trusted her expertise. She is professional, attentive to detail, thorough, and gentle! As a female, having a hairdresser who doesn't pull/tug/hurt means so much! I can't say enough good things about Hailey, she's amazing at what she does! read more

Joie was so great! She was so friendly and helped up understand how to style my hair in a bunch of different ways. She even mentioned a method I had never heard of. I walked away with exactly the perfect style I was hoping for! I was offered something to drink when I arrived. Everyone was so welcoming and we started a little early! The vibes were really good and the place was really clean! I would definitely come back again! read more

Been looking for a salon to call home and I finally found it! I booked a "transformative" cut and went from long hair down the middle of my back to a lob. To say I'm obsessed with my new cut is an understatement- it's amazing! My stylist was Joie and she was so sweet and attentive. Highly recommend coming here for all your hair needs! read more

My stylist here was running really behind so I decided to go to an errand first. She cut my hair in a choppy manner, and it showed some chunks! My normal hairdresser cut my hair today (I told her to fix what was done). My normal hairdresser said, "no, it is not your imagination. It's like you got two different haircuts in the front and the back). The skill level just wasn't there. Also, she was just lacking in projecting a professional demeanor as a person who cared about her own appearance as it would be appropriate in a professional personal care setting. I would not return. Expensive for the quality I received. read more

I'm new to the Houston area and had to find a new salon spot - my hair had gone far too long between cuts! Thanks to the great Yelp reviews I picked SalonTrose; close to me, easy to book (next day openings) and they use the products I already know work for me (R+Co). When I arrived the salon was full and busy but they got me with my stylist (Natali) less than 5 min after walking in the door. A quick convo about what I wanted and I was whisked off for a Shampoo. The assistant was quick but thorough, only wish the massage portion of the shampooing lasted longer (isn't that everyone's fav part?) Back in the chair and Natali was quick with my cut and we moved onto styling. Thank goodness for Natali, I have had so many poor salon and stylist experiences up to now and she not only listened to what I wanted (know thyself and be confident in what you want!) but executed exactly. I've been pushed into so many cuts I didn't want or didn't like by stylists who don't want to give a "boring" cut but Natali respected me knowing my hair, my style and what works for me and appreciated the consistency that comes with experience. Thanks SalonTrose, I'll be back again! read more

Very pleasant experience here! I came here for a haircut with Cara. It was a simple straight bob although I did ask her to cut off 16 inches of my hair for a wig donation. She was patient, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented. I felt like she really listened to me and took her time making sure she got things right. She was very focused on ensuring that my hair was even on both sides. She also told me to not hesitate to call her if I got home and found any issues with the cut. I appreciate that. On top of that, she was really friendly and easy to talk to. I enjoyed chatting with her during my haircut. The salon itself is cute and welcoming. They offer you water as soon as you walk inside. I also really liked their website. All their prices were listed, based on the desired service (this is appreciated since I hate having to reach out to ask). Additionally, it was very easy to schedule an appointment online (with the option to select your desired stylist). They also have team bios on their website, where you can read about each stylist and link to their Instagram. It might help you decide which stylist to go with, based on your needs. I had no issue finding street parking right on Roseland Street, in front of the salon. read more

I worked with Joanna to get 4 inches taken off to transform my long layers into a fun medium-length cut. I was super happy with the result and she took extra time to make sure everything was perfect. She really understood how my 2a waves lay & gave some great recommendations that added so much visual fullness to my cut. Thanks Joanna! I also really love the friendly staff and the super boho-chic vibe of the place. read more

Finding a new salon sucks. Nails, hair, any of it. Once you find one you like you're golden. In my new salon adventures I called SalonTrose. Super happy to get a last minute cancellation. No time to research the stylist. At least it's not a Groupon... hope it's good. I always come prepared with some photos of my dream look. I don't expect to come out looking like gisele, but I want something close to the photo. Did I get something close to my photos? No. Did I leave happy? No. But I'm satisfied with it and the stylist was fun to chat with. read more

Actually one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any salon (and that's saying something). Fryda has to be the worst servicer when it comes to hair, customer service, and overall personal atmosphere. I showed her a picture and she went completely off the books and gave me something else instead. She claimed that it would "look better" and that "this would suit me more". In my personal opinion , she only cares about her image and how she looks in front of her peers and the masses - but truly has no care for her clientele. By far the worst salon experience which even made me cry once I got home. I don't know how she got certified or who's in charge of her training, but anyone is better off paying a little more for someone who actually knows what they're doing. I'm sorry for those that were also affected by her :( I have good intuition that a lot of these (good) reviews are either those in her close circle or colleagues that have signed up and wanted to put something nice in order for her to grain traction. I'd take my business elsewhere if I were you and get it done professionally by someone who actually has years of experience and cares for their clientele. Not to mention - she does NOT enjoy working with Muslims, she may write positive interactions and show professionalism but she shows no respect for the hijab nor the culture and will take advantage of their kindness with no remorse - absolutely disgusted read more

I found this place on yelp a few years ago, and IM IN LOVE. I will forever be a client here -- pre-Covid, during, and whenever the world decides to go back to normal. They are so professional (& clean and safe especially right now) that I always trust they are listening to what I want while still guiding me to what will look best for me. I've been coming to Salontrose since it opened in 2015/2016 but have never been happier than yesterday. Meagan Kuharski is a blonde genius. Came in with all over blonde w/ 6 months of grow out. Naturally dark blonde, wanted a Giselle- more natural look. Mission accomplished!! Paid $450 for color, cut and style (after 20% tip) that took about 4 hrs. For a salon this pricey, I expected more--they misspelled my name and email, spilled dye on my arms and face without wiping it off, and rushed me out towards the end with the bill above. The final result was just ok... They did not do a blow out with the hair cut like most other places and added extra $20 for curl! There are much better salons in the area that are better value for your money and pay more attention to detail than this one. read more

I moved to Houston in January and spent a lot of time researching a top notch hair salon. I found SalonTrose and fell in love, just from what I saw online and the reviews. So I scheduled my appointment in April, and was so excited. The vibes in there are great. The natural lighting of the salon is perfect. The people are awesome and super nice. I have been working on brightening and lightening my balayage. I messaged my stylist about 4 days in advance sending photos of my current hair in different lighting, and then pictures of the blonder color I am hoping to get to. I hoped this would help her prepare/figure out what mixtures to possibly use on my hair without doing so within 3 mins of seeing me when I arrive at my appt. Picture 2 is my hair the week before my appt. picture 1 is what I show her I want to get to. I am not saying this will be within the first appt, but you know, make progress towards it. After 4 hours of balayage and a cut and $304, my hair is definitely not brighter/blonder... if anything it's darker. I contact the stylist about 3 days later letting her know I feel this way and am disappointed. She tells me I can come back that day for a toner that should help. So I do. Picture #3 is the after. UNBELIEVABLE. My hair is brassier than ever. I can't afford to go get it fixed by someone because I just spent all this money to get my hair ruined. read more

I was so excited for my appointment with Haeli Flores that I had booked a month in advance. I was wanting to go lighter for a trip I planned. Despite receiving appointment reminders up to the day before, the salon abruptly canceled just 30 minutes before my scheduled time. This was after I had left work and traveled there. The reason? Haeli's sudden illness. No compensation, just a suggestion to reschedule in 5 days. Inconsiderate treatment, zero sympathy for my time and commitments. Avoid this place if you value any consideration. By the way, they charge 50% of service if you as a client cancel 24 hours before but offer nothing for cancelling 30 min before. I requested to be reached out to by a manager and never heard back from anyone at all. Terrible customer service would never give them my business. read more

Salontrose and Brittany are amazing! Booking was easy, did everything online. Location is kind of hard to find because it's in a neighborhood and it looks like a house! So it's easily overlooked. However, Upon arrival I was greeted and was offered a beverage. Brittany came and got me and we really took the time to talk about what I wanted and how I wanted my hair. She really is an artist when she is painting your hair. Very detailed orientated but yet efficient so you're not sitting in the chair for hours. When cutting my hair, she let me check all sides to see if it was to my liking and if it wasn't she would fix it right away. Needless to say she did fantastic job on my balayage and cut! read more

I have to say I have had some pretty horrible salon experiences, but this time it was one of the bests I have had in a long time. I had a grown out balayage, and a lot of thinning after a rough year. I made an appointment with Natali who listened to me describe what I wanted to change about my hair, and the color I wanted. She took care of everything from there and did such a beautiful job. The salon itself was clean, bright and easy to get to, and the rest of the staff I interacted with were all so warm and inviting. I 1000% recommend this salon and will definitely be back! read more

I had been previously been getting my hair highlighted out of state and have been searching for a colorist in town. I am so glad that I found Kaitlin! Emily is hands-down the best hair stylist I've ever worked with. She's incredibly professional but so fun and easy to talk to. She's great with communicating what style will work best with my specific hair type and color and will recommend products based on the #hairgoals I show her.(without being pushy or salesy. Y'all know what I mean!) She absolutely nails my desired style every time and I leave each visit excited about my next one. The salon itself is also super welcoming. The receptionist was very nice and able to schedule an appointment with Leidi on that same day. The salon is located in a neighborhood and it looks like a house. If you're not looking you might miss where to park! When I came in I was greeted by the receptionist who offered me something to drink! I was surprised by all the drinks they had to offer (LACroix, coffee, tea, wine, coke). Anyway, my wait was about 15-20min. Which was fine. Leidi: amazing hairstylist who actually listens to your hair probs! I told her that my hair grows thick and I really wanted some texture and I wanted her to use the razor scissors. I told her what I wanted and she delivered. Evidently, she used to be independent but, decided to join this salon. I'm glad she did! My haircut was exactly what I envisioned. I have been going to Salontrose for about two years now. I filtered through a couple of stylists before I found Nydia and now I won't go to anyone else in Houston! She's amazing, kind, patient, and is really honest about what she thinks will look good and what won't, and then she'll take little steps to maximize the cut and style. My hair is really thin and fine and I love that she's so careful with it to make sure I maintain as much hair as possible. When we talked about balayage, she said she'll make sure to take steps to protect my hair and still help me achieve the color I want. COVID Update: I felt extremely safe at Salontrose. There was barely anyone in the salon at the time; they take your temperature and have you sign an acknowledgement. Both the stylists and the clients wear masks the entire time. I honestly don't think they need my review but I just loved my experience at SalonTrose. First of all very polite and friendly on the phone when I called as a first time costumer. I was directed to their instagram page and I was able to pick my stylist based on my need. The consultation process was all online and timely. Meagan was absolutely amazing. She set realistic expectations and made sure my hair remains healthy and shiny post bleach. I was there for five hours and I had the best time. I put all of my trust into Emily's hands and my hair turned out even better than I originally asked for! After salon hopping for almost two years, it's safe to say that Salontrose is the one! The environment is highly professional , yet maintains a cool, fun, and creative vibe. It's upscale, but I don't feel out of place and it doesn't feel robotic. All the women who work there seem kind, and the front desk receptionist is always friendly and helpful. I'm tempted to gate keep the talented Fryda, but I must say that she's one of the best stylists I've gone to thus far. I'll return to her chair for many years to come! Fryda is beyond lovely, fun to chat with, and incredibly talented and knowledgeable. She's done everything from balayage, to root coverage, blonding, and long layered cuts on my dark tresses. She knocks it out the park each time! She listens to what I want but elevates my requests each time. Since I have very dark hair that is slightly coarse due to premature graying, she takes the time to explain her coloring process and provides great advice on how to maintain my hair. I consider myself very lucky to have her as a stylist! The salon is located in a residential neighborhood in the Montrose area, so make sure you arrive early to find parking. You'll never park very far and it's a safe neighborhood. You won't have to be too worried about towing or break in's as long as you follow the parking signs and practice common safety precautions. read more
