My stylist here was running really behind so I decided to go to an errand first. She cut my hair in a choppy manner, and it showed some chunks! My normal hairdresser cut my hair today (I told her to fix what was done). My normal hairdresser said, "no, it is not your imagination. Thanks to the great Yelp reviews I picked SalonTrose; close to me, easy to book (next day openings) and they use the products I already know work for me (R+Co). When I arrived the salon was full and busy but they got me with my stylist (Natali) less than 5 min after walking in the door. A quick convo about what I wanted and I was whisked off for a Shampoo. The assistant was quick but thorough, only wish the massage portion of the shampooing lasted longer (isn't that everyone's fav part?) Back in the chair and Natali was quick with my cut and we moved onto styling. Thank goodness for Natali, I have had so many poor salon and stylist experiences up to now and she not only listened to what I wanted (know thyself and be confident in what you want!) but executed exactly. I've been pushed into so many cuts I didn't want or didn't like by stylists who don't want to give a "boring" cut but Natali respected me knowing my hair, my style and what works for me and appreciated the consistency that comes with experience. Very pleasant experience here! I came here for a haircut with Cara. It was a simple straight bob although I did ask her to cut off 16 inches of my hair for a wig donation. She was patient, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented. I felt like she really listened to me and took her time making sure she got things right. She was very focused on ensuring that my hair was even on both sides. She also told me to not hesitate to call her if I got home and found any issues with the cut. I appreciate that. On top of that, she was really friendly and easy to talk to. I enjoyed chatting with her during my haircut. The salon itself is cute and welcoming. They offer you water as soon as you walk inside. I also really liked their website. All their prices were listed, based on the desired service (this is appreciated since I hate having to reach out to ask). Actually one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any salon (and that's saying something). Fryda has to be the worst servicer when it comes to hair, customer service, and overall personal atmosphere. I showed her a picture and she went completely off the books and gave me something else instead. She claimed that it would "look better" and that "this would suit me more". In my personal opinion , she only cares about her image and how she looks in front of her peers and the masses - but truly has no care for her clientele. By far the worst salon experience which even made me cry once I got home. I don't know how she got certified or who's in charge of her training, but anyone is better off paying a little more for someone who actually knows what they're doing. I'm sorry for those that were also affected by her :( I have good intuition that a lot of these (good) reviews are either those in her close circle or colleagues that have signed up and wanted to put something nice in order for her to grain traction. I'd take my business elsewhere if I were you and get it done professionally by someone who actually has years of experience and cares for their clientele. I was so excited for my appointment with Haeli Flores that I had booked a month in advance. I was wanting to go lighter for a trip I planned. Despite receiving appointment reminders up to the day before, the salon abruptly canceled just 30 minutes before my scheduled time. This was after I had left work and traveled there. The reason? Haeli's sudden illness. No compensation, just a suggestion to reschedule in 5 days. Inconsiderate treatment, zero sympathy for my time and commitments. Avoid this place if you value any consideration. By the way, they charge 50% of service if you as a client cancel 24 hours before but offer nothing for cancelling 30 min before. I requested to be reached out to by a manager and never heard back from anyone at all. Terrible customer service would never give them my business. read more

I moved to Houston in January and spent a lot of time researching a top notch hair salon. I found SalonTrose and fell in love, just from what I saw online and the reviews. So I scheduled my appointment in April, and was so excited. The vibes in there are great. The natural lighting of the salon is perfect. The people are awesome and super nice. I have been working on brightening and lightening my balayage. I messaged my stylist about 4 days in advance sending photos of my current hair in different lighting, and then pictures of the blonder color I am hoping to get to. I hoped this would help her prepare/figure out what mixtures to possibly use on my hair without doing so within 3 mins of seeing me when I arrive at my appt. Picture 2 is my hair the week before my appt. picture 1 is what I show her I want to get to. I am not saying this will be within the first appt, but you know, make progress towards it. After 4 hours of balayage and a cut and $304, my hair is definitely not brighter/blonder... if anything it's darker. I contact the stylist about 3 days later letting her know I feel this way and am disappointed. She tells me I can come back that day for a toner that should help. So I do. Picture #3 is the after. UNBELIEVABLE. My hair is brassier than ever. I can't afford to go get it fixed by someone because I just spent all this money to get my hair ruined. read more

Salontrose and Brittany are amazing! Booking was easy, did everything online. Location is kind of hard to find because it's in a neighborhood and it looks like a house! So it's easily overlooked. However, Upon arrival I was greeted and was offered a beverage. Brittany came and got me and we really took the time to talk about what I wanted and how I wanted my hair. She really is an artist when she is painting your hair. Very detailed orientated but yet efficient so you're not sitting in the chair for hours. The receptionist was very nice and able to schedule an appointment with Leidi on that same day. The salon is located in a neighborhood and it looks like a house. If you're not looking you might miss where to park! When I came in I was greeted by the receptionist who offered me something to drink! I was surprised by all the drinks they had to offer (LACroix, coffee, tea, wine, coke). Anyway, my wait was about 15-20min. Which was fine. Leidi: amazing hairstylist who actually listens to your hair probs! I told her that my hair grows thick and I really wanted some texture and I wanted her to use the razor scissors. I have been going to Salontrose for about two years now. I filtered through a couple of stylists before I found Nydia and now I won't go to anyone else in Houston! She's amazing, kind, patient, and is really honest about what she thinks will look good and what won't, and then she'll take little steps to maximize the cut and style. My hair is really thin and fine and I love that she's so careful with it to make sure I maintain as much hair as possible. When we talked about balayage, she said she'll make sure to take steps to protect my hair and still help me achieve the color I want. COVID Update: I felt extremely safe at Salontrose. There was barely anyone in the salon at the time; they take your temperature and have you sign an acknowledgement. Both the stylists and the clients wear masks the entire time. After salon hopping for almost two years, it's safe to say that Salontrose is the one! The environment is highly professional , yet maintains a cool, fun, and creative vibe. It's upscale, but I don't feel out of place and it doesn't feel robotic. All the women who work there seem kind, and the front desk receptionist is always friendly and helpful. I'm tempted to gate keep the talented Fryda, but I must say that she's one of the best stylists I've gone to thus far. I'll return to her chair for many years to come! Recently relocated to Houston and was STRESSING about finding a new salon. I have short, colored hair so monthly visits to the salon are a must for upkeep. I've been seeing my stylist back in FL for 10 years! Alas, the Yelp community steered me in the right direction with Salontrose. I called to make an appointment and was helped very well by the person who answered the phone. When I told her of my short hairstyle, she placed me with Amanda who loves to handle short hairstyles. I was really pleased with this help as I felt the person listened to my needs very well. The salon manager offered me a very tasty bubbly beverage during my stay. Sweet! The only downside was unfortunately, the salon was having A/C problems that day (in August, ugh!) so it was very warm inside. Add hairdryers and flat irons and the place could leave you sweating. They did the best they could by bringing in fans. Parking is sort of a pain because it's street parking, but I found a spot circling just once. Street parking is common around this area. No biggie, just give yourself a little extra time in case you do need to park further away. Pricing is steeper than my salon in FL, but seems on par for Houston from what I've researched. Amanda did a fantastic job with my haircut and two tone highlights. She actively listened to what I desired, asking questions about the cut/color I was going for as we got familiar with each other. I appreciated her using toner to calm the brightness of my highlights down. She did it once and then when they still weren't 'just right' she did it again. Attention to detail matters! The only downside I noticed is my hair feels drier since, but a little Argan oil has helped. I loved that Amanda offers complimentary 'clean ups' between hair appointments for those with short hair. I didn't get to take her up on this before I booked my next hair appointment with her, but will next time. Such a nice offering - so rare!
