I had my hair cut here by a stylist named Ciao. She did a great job with my layers - not too short, not too boxy. My hair laid perfectly!! I loved my hair cut. Later on I had balayage, but that didn't go well. I asked for Ciao when I made the appointment - but she wasn't there when I arrived. So, I showed a picture to the stylist of the colors I wanted: medium brown with golden blonde highlights. But disaster ... I ended up with just platinum blonde, fried hair. She left the bleach on way too long. It absolutely wrecked my hair. I went back the next day to have the blonde toned down, and ended up with ashy blonde hair - no brown at all. I then went to an Aveda Salon to have everything corrected... cost me about $300. :( I wished I could have stuck with Ciao. But I won't be going back here for anything. read more

I forgot to check in, so here is my review. :) First of all, I want to point out that I didn't have to wait another 15 minutes for my appointment, which is 5 stars in itself! Lol I was able to sit down right away and have Nikki start working her magic on my hair. Her customer service is A++. She put on a movie I wanted to watch from Netflix and provided a water while I waited for my beautiful hair. This was my 1st time at this salon. I moved on this side of town this past summer. I found this place off of yelp and decided to give it a try. I contacted Nikki via text and we agreed on the service and price via text message with pictures. This salon is in a small old looking shopping strip. The parking here is pretty terrible and the spots are very small. If you have an SUV like me be sure to check your car for door dings before leaving. I did appreciate her opening at 8 am on a Saturday to squeeze me in. She got there after I did so I waited about 5-10 mins for her to open the door. I am a licensed stylist. I've had my license for over 15 years. My most recent employment in the hair industry was 12 years at Sportclips. Strictly haircuts for men. However, I do have knowledge and experience in women's hair color and style. My speed on technique maybe slow or dated but I am still a licensed cosmetologist. I did show Nikki pictures off my phone of ideas of how I wanted my hair via text prior to my visit to the salon but when I got there I saw 2 pictures of her work on the wall that I liked and pointed the one I wanted. She said okay. In the picture it had balayage writing for the description. Balayage is the technique of free-hand painting highlights onto the hair, creating a soft and natural gradation of lightness towards the ends. She told me she needed to lighten up the color or my hair which was totally understandable. She applied bleach from scalp to ends all over my hair. She is a professional so I let her do the job I was paying her to do. I was a little confused as to why she was doing that but I wanted her to do her job and not micromanage. I am not experienced in balayage or the ombre techniques of hair coloring. I knew not to wash my hair 2 days before getting a chemical service since it would be harsh on my scalp. The natural oils provide protection for the scalp during a chemical service.Thank goodness for me doing that. My scalp is sore from the chemical burns. I will allow my natural sebum to coat my scalp again for the next few days. Fast fwd a little she bleached my hair completely out and put a toner on and basically asked if I liked it. I said this is not what I wanted or in the picture over there on your wall. I said there isn't any dimensions. I wanted "blonde balayage". Not to be completely blonde all over. She said ok I will add darkness into the roots.. WHAT!?!? I was pretty upset but kept quiet...Ok......I still needed to get a cut and style.. Especially since my hair was a little over processed at this point. She started at 8:30 am and it was 1:50 pm. I know the exact time since I was having to text my husband to let him know I was going to be there longer. I was a little irritated she was occupied taking 3-4 clients including a perm while serving me so her focus wasn't on my chemical service. I understand I had to process the bleach but she basically unnecessarily bleached my hair on my scalp for no reason since it was already dark to begin with.. I was pretty upset about things but I completely stayed calm and quiet simply because the end result was what I wanted. I was NOT happy with the unnecessary bleaching of my scalp and the extra long time spent there. I needed my hair fixed and corrected. I was not going to chew her out while my hair needed to be fixed correctly. She was very sweet and did correct her mistake she made on my hair. I did not want to judge a book by it's cover so I gave this place a shot thinking I was going to save $80 on my hair but didn't. Breakdown of things in brief. The salon wasn't very clean or sanitizer. This is a typical Vietnamese owned salon. (I am not racist I am Vietnamese myself.) The amount discussed was NOT what I paid. I paid $80 more then what she quoted via text. I did not complain at all and just paid. I said thank you and left. For the amount I paid I could have gone to a much nicer place with maybe a free cookie/chips or a cup of coffee/ bottled water. I really wish my experience was overall better but I am glad my hair was still intact and I did like the end result. Best of luck to the salon. I am naturally a dirty blonde to light brunette hair color with thick and very long hair and I am always nervous to let people cut or color it because of so many bad experiences but Nikki did an awesome job! She did a beautiful blonde balayage to lighten up my hair and made it look very natural and fresh. Didn't cut too much off when trimming and overall I am thrilled with how my hair looks! Not to mention the pricing was awesome. My hair has cost me easily $300+ in the past (which I'll never pay again) and they charged me substantially less than that. The reasons this is missing the 5th star is because I wanted to have more platinum, but again the end result was well blended and stunning AND the shop is a bit messy and not very welcoming. If I could leave less than 1 star, I would. I had asked for a balayage on my VIRGIN hair. I was so nervous, but wanted a change! My biggest fear was getting it done for the first time, having someone mess up my hair. Nikki made my biggest fear come true!! She completely ruined my hair! She had mentioned multiple times she'd been doingg hair for 12 years, so I trusted her. I gave her a picture of what I wanted, but just a little higher. Big mistake! I had went the first time, didn't want to micromanage, but I did tell her I didn't like a few things and she was nice about it. (I'll give her that) I went home and noticed it wasn't as light as I wanted in the picture, but was going to deal with it. I ended up going back for the 2nd time because when I split my hair down the middle, there was a bleach patch, she wasn't going to charge me to get it fixed, so I went. This was where it all went wrong. I went in withh pretty virgin hair, just to leave with ZEBRA STRIPES!! I told her and told her! I left because I was so upset! She offered to "fix it" just how she was going "fix it" the first time! Hell no I wasn't going to trust her! I am so upset and sad. I later went to a place in Huntsville, TX where I go to school called The Facemaker, and THEY FIXED IT EXACTLY how I wanted! I recommend them over Nikki. A huge waste of $140 for zebra stripes. She did her thing and started cutting. I was there for maybe up to 30 minutes by the time everything was said and done.
