Going to a salon should be an enjoyable experience. I made an appointment for my child for $50 cut&blow dry. My daughter got a wash, dry, flat iron. --No Cut. She was a little more rough with my daughter than I would like. Someone working with children should be more gentle. They were understaffed with 2 employees and only standing room in the waiting area. Maybe this added to her frustrations and impatience with us. After that, she ended up charging me $100 --and that was not even with a haircut. I would never return or take my daughter again. And I still tipped because I am too darn nice. My mom saw her hair and commented how dry it looked. When I leave other salons, it is silky straight. Not worth it at all. I will go to a salon where my daughter has a good experience and feels cared for and I get my money's worth. Feeling duped Update- Today I had the misfortune of talking to the owner, Tameka, of this wannabe salon. She actually did all the talking over me and lying--saying she could hear the conversation her stylist had with me regarding the extra charges. Never was I told that a flat iron for a child was $50! And if you are charging for length as you say, why didn't you itemize your receipt correctly? Also, why didn't you subtract for NOT cutting her hair? Worse still, Chelsea made my daughter cry because she was so rough. It's crazy to me that they set the bar so low and everyone is supposed to be ok with that?? And what ...pay them outrageous prices for unsatisfactory work?? And deal with a juvenile owner? No thanks. I have had better and my family deserves better. read more

We booked an appointment with Chelsea for a curl styling, for my daughter's Homecoming dance. The appointment was easy to book, I got text reminders, and even with it being the last appointment of her day, she was still running on schedule and we didn't wait long after arriving. We could tell that Chelsea had had a rough day just from the phone calls she got, and the customer before us, but she still smiled and had a good attitude during our appointment. We showed up with dry, clean hair, ready to go. My daughter had a picture of the style she was going for, and Chelsea matched it perfectly. Her hair was beautiful! Thank you very much, Chelsea! I have a lot of hair. I know, I know, #firstworldproblems. And while I can't say I enjoy the process of double shampooing, single condition rinse, drying, curling, straightening or spraying up or down my hair, I CAN say that I love when it looks finished. So, what better way than to give myself a break and have someone else do it?! Oh yeah, I found my new favorite addiction and it's not cake or macarons, thank goodness. Nestled right next to my new nail place (20 Nails, I followed my Mason Nails shellac goddess Kayla), Drystyle is next door. So, after my long overdue mani pedi massage respite, I headed over to Drystyle with an open mind. Omg, mimosa?! Yes! I'm in heaven!!!! The owner, Reyna immediately greeted me and offered me a choice of cocktails, but what I remembered and asked for was my fav: the mimosa. Served in a beautiful flute, I was seated and offered a purse hook (like the kind at bars, we women love so much). My appointed stylist was Dani, a lovely lady with gorgeous hair. Wait, everyone there had unbelievable beautiful hair. Huh... Cool! Make me look like you! We discussed what kind of blow out or curl or style I wanted and before I knew it, I was getting my hair shampooed in their cozy cove. What I liked about the shampoo and conditioning process was that my hair and neck didn't get all wet and I didn't get splashed. Ya know how that is, like, "Ok, Splashdown!" But not here. All water was contained and Dani checked with me on the water temp multiple times and did a great job. Next we walked back over to the styling chair and Dani did her magic. Since my hair was sectioned off in more sections than Reliant Stadium, it took a little while. I'd say the whole blow dry process using different size brushes, took about :30-:45 min. I loved the finished look. It was great to have someone else wash and blow out my hair so that I could continue to enjoy my mini spa day. Lastly, when I paid I was so excited to hear about their membership packages. Usually $35 per blow out, you can pay $90 for 3 blowouts which will include free :10min scalp massage. Wow, that sounds like a deal. Sign me up! They also gave me a free goody bag with a coupon inside for $5. All the staff were super friendly, never made me feel uncomfortable, even though they all were dressed fabulously chic and I was un-makeup'ed and in my fav jogging suit (a la Jane Lynch), I still felt happy to be there and welcomed. I definitely recommend coming here to get your hair washed and styled and if you're so inclined, head next door to Kayla's 20 Nails for an amazing mani/pedi. You'll feel like you're on vacation and at a spa day. And hey, you didn't even have to go to the airport or do that long of a drive. I went to Look Salon last Saturday for a wash, blow out and style. It started off a little rocky because they were running 20 min late, and I was on a time schedule and was concerned I wouldn't be done in time. Chelsea was my stylist...and she was awesome. I told her I needed to get out quickly, and she worked faster than anyone I've ever seen! My hair is porous and takes FOREVER to dry. She knocked it out in record time. She did a beautiful job on the curls and they lasted for five days!! I was impressed and will definitely be back to see her. Visited Drystyle after a much needed shellac manicure next door (20 Nails). I made an appointment so there was no wait. I was the only one there on a Saturday morning. I decided to go to Dani since the other reviewer posted a pic of her blowout. I believe all of them do a good job, so any stylist would be fine. Personally I like to get a referral or observe the stylist's hair. If her hair is put up in a pony tail, no effort, I usually pass. When I tried looking for hairstyle books there was only one homemade one which was kinda eh. None of the hairstyles I wear were in there. Bring in a photo. They really need to bring in some style books so people can figure out what style they like. People come in expecting to leave out looking all "Aaaaaahhhh!" Not leaving sighing "uuuggghhhh", I could have done this at home. Mimosa, shampoo, condition and to the chair with no mirrors. Like the other reviewer, I don't like that there were no mirrors by the style area and it's basically a "surprise" look at your style kinda set up. I think next time I'll ask to hold a mirror while she styles. I have had too many bad experiences with not being able to view to cut/style while in motion. Luckily this style turned out great! The part had something left to be desired but easy to fix at home (see with a mirror by the style chair this could have been avoided!). I was left with very smooth hair and big curls. All for $35, not so bad! I will definitely return and maybe try another stylist, would love to try them all out. Perfect for lazy days...what better than to get your hair done. Overall a very nice establishment with a most promising future in Katy! Great place to book bachelorette or birthday parties! I came here today for a promotion they were running, they were in need of models I guess to have their stylist get some training. My experience with the wait is not very accurate because of this, but I waited about 35 minutes. Not too bad, I don't think. The first thing that i noticed was that only one of the girls working there actually had her hair "blown out" and the others just had their hair in ponytails, buns and just down but not really fixed. I think that if you are going to a place like this where a lot of people in the area are not sure what it is that you are offering, you should have examples running all around your business. If you wanted to see pictures you needed to ask for a booklet. That was my main complaint, I didn't know what they were able to do, aside from looking at the girls that had just gotten finished, so of course i just said, i liked the way the girl before me had hers done. The other thing I did not like was that while I was getting my hair done, I could not see what she was doing. There were no mirrors that I could look at. Also, the seats are very close together so you will keep bumping feet with the girl next to you as they turn you. On to the positives. It is very inexpensive! 35 bucks for me to have someone fix my hair is not bad. They also offer complimentary wine and mimosas! I love that they run promotions and they have frequent buyer cards. Deffinately give this place a try and hopefully they will work out their little issues as more people offer up suggestions. What an enormous waste of money. I booked an appointment online for a blowout thinking it would be similar to a dry bar experience where you can pick a style. When I arrived and they confirmed blow out, I asked if we could add a few curls/waves. They said they could but then it would be a "curl service." I never anticipated that it would be a $55 dollar blow out with a $50 "curl service" added on. I have shoulder length hair and it took the stylist approx 40 min of her time. The style is fine but ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE dollars. My permanent stylist in the galleria area charges me mayyybeeeee $45. We aren't talking a prom up do here. Not to mention that the staff and stylist were incredibly rude, no greetings, no even considerable kindness. Absolutely will never go back and would not recommend to anyone. read more

I had many text messages reminding me of my appt...I got to the Salon at 9:20 a.m for a 9:30 a.m appointment and it was locked until 9:33.. Once in, the floors were noticeably dirty, does not look like they tidy up from the night before but nothing was being done about it in the am when they opened. My hairdresser showed up at 9:40a.m and asked me if I was ready.... I had been waiting for her for 10 mins, no apologies or anything... no greetings or introduction.... I was brought to a chair that still had hair on it, so I kindly asked her to clean it and she did... then I was brought to the back for a shampoo and the sink had lots of other hair and did not look like it has been cleaned for a while. I asked her to clean the sink as there are other people's hair in it and her response was yes, we wash lots of people hair like asking her to clean it for me was an inconvenience.... She did a good job cutting my hair, that was the good part of my experience. I will not return....... read more

I came here and as soon as I walked in, I got strange looks from all the people who worked there. I guess they don't see black people come in very often because it looked like they had seen a ghost. They had no training on how to do my hair at all and made no effort to be inclusive or understanding. In this day and age, I feel like hair stylists should be trained on how to do hair. Made a same day appointment to have my hair done and couldn't decide if I wanted makeup done as well. Decided once I got there I did want makeup and they were gracious to find a way to make both happen although they were totally booked. Both ladies delivered on what I asked for. Next time I would bring a picture to better explain what I wanted with my hair but she did my hair just as I had asked. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that I don't think the $48 spent on the makeover was worth the price. She did a lovely job but it wasn't as dynamic as I thought it would be and the foundation/powder coverage was really chincy. I could have done my own makeup and it look the same. I thought having it done professionally would have a more glamorous outcome. It could be my level of expectation is off. All employees were very nice and it's very well decorated. After I washed and dried my hair and put it in a ponytail, I noticed that Kelsey cut some hair on the right side of my head very short. Every day now I have to put a lot of gel on that section to hold it down and prevent it from sticking straight out. It's about 30 strands of hair, only 3 inches long that pops straight out horizontal when I pull my hair back, only on the right side. read more

I walked out today with fabulous hair. I got a cut, color and highlights on the crown. I was drawn in by a special promotional offer of $95 for Haircut, Color & blowout. I was actually charged $350 which I paid but was shocked because the only addition was the crown highlights. Maybe I am cheap but I have never paid this for my hair and don't plan to again. I usually go to Salon Hermes in the Montrose area (they do a wonderful job) but did not want the drive today. He does my hair for about $60 less.
