We received a wine glass & a Wino Fest sheet for notes with the wineries in attendance as well as some educational materials to enhance our wine knowledge. Throughout the event there was live music, food vendors, and a great time! The information sheet that we received outlined each winery in attendance which we used to write down notes about each one. We learnt that unlike other festivals that charge an entrance fee for only 10 or so samples of wine, we could try all the different types of wine. This festival is designed to promote and support Texas Wineries. It was good to know that we 100% supported local TEXAS wineries.

For months, I have been asking how I can actually receive my wines, and I have the emails to prove it. I never received a single response or clear direction. The whole communication around this has been terrible. When Nikki finally did reply, it was with a rude and dismissive message, one that I've attached here for transparency, without ever acknowledging my prior outreach. This is not the way paying customers should be spoken to or treated, especially when they have been spending money and not able to get clarity on their products. I had already canceled my membership before this exchange, but had I not, I certainly would have afterward. Her tone and lack of professionalism were unacceptable, and it made clear to me that she does not understand what respectful customer service looks like. She also had to backtrack on her email without even knowing the facts. The worst! I understand that closures and operational challenges happen, but respect and clear communication should never be optional. Unfortunately, Nikki Harris demonstrated neither.

I'm more of a red lover, but the Blanc Du Bois semi-sweet is one of the only whites I've REALLY enjoyed (I received a tasting of this at the rodeo and wanted to check out more options here since I loved it so much). There are only two sparkling options at the moment, so I tried both. The real star was the Belle for me. I can definitely see myself taking this to brunch or enjoying while cooking a meal. It is light and refreshing and you can totally taste the fruity guava notes in it. The Blanc Du Bois regular is not sweet enough for me which is probably why I enjoy the Semi Sweet so much. Of course, I left with a bottle of this as well. I'd like to come back and try their Reds- but definitely something I'll have to do in the future. If you're already out this way, you can taste some wine and then book a Bee-Keeping class which I really enjoyed.

It is a small, local winery run by a family. You meet all of them - the mom, dad and their grown children (sometimes all, sometimes only a few) as well as even an uncle. They have set times for wine tastings. When you get there, you get your own table for your party (they have inside & outside tables) and they introduce you to the wines and which they grow at their vineyard & give you a history of the place. They also have snack trays that you can order with grapes, cheese and meats. Those are also all super yummy. Normally, I'm not a fan of drier wines. But I liked EVERY wine they had us try. I also tried a the sangria (I think it was) that was not part of the tasting wines, and I was not a fan of that because it tasted far too much like champagne. They are small, so they only make 3-5 different wines every year. But each one is such high quality. Their son, who is the mastermind winemaker, and he is very sweet (and super smart) and will answer all your questions about his process and what's upcoming. Just like the inside, the outside is very cute & quaint. They have a patio with some tables and then some acres with their vines. Unfortunately, we did not come when there were grapes on the vine, so everything we saw was bare. But that's just a reason to come back! Since it's such a small operation, the dad also gave us a you're of when they barrel and do wine science! And since I studied architecture, he also asked for my opinion on their thoughts of expanding their building because they are running out of room!

I quickly searched on Google and found several options. Messina Hof grabbed my attention. First, it's out in the country, not in the busy Houston region. Second, it has food to pair with wine. Third, I love driving to Richmond Texas. I thought this city has a lot of charms. So, I made a reservation online. While that was not a requirement, but I would like to be reminded. We arrived at the restaurant late because I under estimated the traffic from Southwest Houston. My reservation was moved with my request, nice. The parking lot is huge and wheelchair accessible spots are on both sides of the entrance. We were one of 2 parties at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The wait staff was very cordial. She introduced us the wine tasting menu: White Wine, Red Wine, Mixed Wines, Premium, Library and Sweet Wines. My friend likes to try their sweet collection, $28. I don't drink. So, I just looked at him enjoying the wines. It started with something weak to something strong like a Port and ended with something delicious that he really liked. Each pour is 3 oz, except 1 oz of port due to high alcohol content. We bought a bottle of Orange Muscat Mistella, $25. I don't think we can find this elsewhere for this price. For people like me who don't drink, I asked for a glass of sparkling red grape juice. We also paired our drinks with a wood-fired pizza and I ordered a Burrata Salad. They are quite delightful. I was surprised as the wines are travelled from Bryan/College Station and Fredericksburg of Texas. Umm... So, this huge facility doesn't produce wines. Although, there is a grapevines out on the front. As we've been told that those grape trees will produce grapes next year. The only winery tour is at those 2 locations. There is nothing to see here. Someone finally acknowledge us and asked if we had reservations we said no but we had a party of 7 she said let me check and came back to us she mentioned that she spoked to her boss and they decided it was at there best interest not to seat us we were stunned because the restaurant had several tables open I work in hospitality and know you never refuse service to anyone that is paying. We have been members of there wine club but I will be cancelling my membership and our son had his wedding reception there 3 years ago and they were in town and decided they wanted to go there for dinner and purchase several bottles of wine to take home we were so embarrassed they have lost my business forever.
