Side mixed greens salad and chicken .
    cami c.

In Houston on a business trip and had to rely on the hotel restaurant for sustenance. Always iffy, even at nice hotels like the Omni. I was pleasantly surprised! Pulled up a chair at the bar, and was greeted quickly by the bartenders. Sadly, I don't recall their names but it was two males on this Wednesday evening. At check-in, the guest services person said she loved the burgers at Birdie's when I mentioned my starved state. I don't do beef, so she suggested the chicken tacos. I also asked the bartender if he recommended the chicken or fish tacos, fish tacos are on the bar menu. He also likes the chicken, so winner, winner, chicken dinner! The salad was surprisingly good! The greens came with watermelon radish (seriously?!), cherry toms, green onions, and a sweetish but yummy white balsamic vinaigrette. More dressing than I prefer, but not too much more, and my Warren would have wanted more, so... The tacos were good. Not great, but not disappointing. The chicken had a sweetish sauce and even with the small cuts, the meat was moist. They used sliced avo, which, for small tacos, an avo guac or cream would be easier to eat. Also had some chopped toms and a leaf of cilantro. One leaf. Lol! And also used only one taco shell, which I liked. I would have liked some hot sauce, and maybe they had it, but they didn't offer and I didn't ask for it, so bad on me. Overall, I'm sitting in my room with a happy full belly writing this review, so thanks Birdie and team!

    Western omelette with potatoes

Birdies is the in house restaurant/bar for the Omni Houston. I had an early breakfast. The staff are excellent, always friendly and attentive. I had the Western Omelette with potatoes. Everything tasted as it should, no complaints but also nothing spectacular. As with all hotel food, it's on the pricey side, but you're paying for convenience.

I was here at Birdies in February 2020. My mentor Jayzen P visiting from California for a speaking engagement at Omni Houston Hotel upstairs. He had a busy schedule and we decided to meet here for lunch. Atmosphere was nice. I remember the chair was super heavy. I had to wait for hostess to seat us. Service was slow that day. Food was pretty fancy. I ordered Beef Brisket Bao, just pure curiosity. It was 3 scrumptious steamed sweet buns hugged some delicious roasted beef slices and Chinese flavored slaw. So fusion. I really wanted to go back visit again after this CoVid19 pandemic.

A mediocre lunch at this hotel lobby restaurant. At the hotel for a conference, the in-house restaurant is the go-to for a quick lunch. I selected the BBQ rib Bao. 3 to a serving, the steamed rolls are soft and moist, but cold by the time they reached the table. The BBQ was tasty, but dry. The Asian slaw was bright and fresh, as were the greens. Definitely room for improvement. Also tried the corn velvet soup with gulf prawn dumplings. I envisioned a creamy corn chowder but this was very thin and watery, with a sprinkle of corn on top. The dumplings (2) were good, but tasted more like pork than shrimp. Big peeve... The soup was served without a spoon. The server said "l'll bring you one right away", but never did. I had to flag down one of the wait staff. Not cool to let the food get cold waiting for utensils.... Next time I'll venture out instead of dining here.

I tried the breakfast, dinner and the bar bc I stayed at the Omni hotel for several nights. The food and drink quality was fine (dinner was better than breakfast), the service was a little slow. Three stars for overall food quality (it was about what you would expect from a hotel restaurant with a captive audience - not great but not bad). One star for price bc it was very expensive, especially for Houston where you can get much better deals. My husband ended up going to Rudy's one morning for breakfast tacos and he ordered a ton of food for about half the price of my breakfast here. The only positive is that the portions are average to small, so at least there is no food waste (we ate almost everything except the breakfast waffles - my kids didn't seem to love them).

    Kale pasta

Service here is just "okay." Neither here nor there which makes this place nothing to write home about. I came for lunch and had the kale pasta. The pasta was watery and made the texture hard to eat. I definitely could have made a better pasta at home and I don't cook. As soon as I took my first bite I knew I should have ordered something else but, unfortunately the menu is not very descriptive either, and feels like the blind leading the blind when asking for suggestions or recommendations. For service and food quality prices should be about 10% lower, would not return

Ya know...I'm not real sure what this was but it came compliments of the chef. Was an OMG moment. Delicious!

I had my doubts early on due to lack of choices on the menu. However that quickly changes due to the professionalism and friendly staff. I'm not completely sure of everything I ate seeing as I don't get out very often but what I ate was completely delicious. Awesome awesome visit

The dining room is chic and feels very upscale but comfortable with a large open fire kitchen that was really fun to watch while dining. They were very on top of service with both our dining captain and waiter checking on us throughout the evening. For appetizers we ordered the deviled crabs, tuna tostada and wood roasted carrots. All were great but I especially loved the carrots which were cooked and seasoned perfectly. For my main course I had the chicken and dumplings, husband got the NY strip, our friends shared the whole fish and we had the cabbage and crab rice as sides. Everyone was very happy with both their main courses and the side dishes. We were too stuffed to order dessert but they sent out a s'mores inspired sunday for my birthday which was both thoughtful and sublime. Overall we were very impressed with our meal. We were greeted by three different people - one that took our drink order, one that cleared our plates, and one that took our order. All were very nice people and gave excellent service! I forgot their names unfortunately. My receipt said Zachary but not sure which waiter that was. Between me and hubs, we had a Pan de campo, an order of Gulf Oysters "casino", (4) dressed oysters, a 16 oz dry aged ribeye, a snapper entree and a side of crab fried rice. We finished almost everything except a quarter of the Pan, about a quarter of the rice, and about a third of the ribeye. All were great dishes and would definitely order again. We skipped dessert because honestly none stood out to us. He said their popular dessert is the souffle but they were sold out. Our total before gratuity was about $250 and that included one cocktail. Hubs had their "classic" old fashioned which he said was excellent! Overall, highly recommended if you don't mind the splurge or for a special occasion!

We live in the area and passed by this spot so many times without even knowing The exterior is appealing and eye catching. The whole section of restaurants has a trendy and family friendly vibe. It would be the perfect spot to enjoy some outdoor bites and libations if not for the insufferable weather we have most of the year, but luckily, the interior is just as lovely. It's immaculate, well decorated, and deceptively spacious. There's plenty of booths, tables, and there's even a fully stocked bar and takeaway area The menu offers a variety of delicacies from a french dip, to pecan crusted chicken, to enchiladas. They have lovely handcrafted cocktails to choose from - some classic cocktails and some signature concoctions Everything tasted and looked great. The pecan chicken was more sweet than I expected, but still good. All of the sides were great. The cocktails looked great and tasted good. I did order one cocktail that gave ingredients but mentioned a "thick pink juice" that is made in-house, and upon my initial taste I soon discovered they meant beet juice. It wasn't bad, just unexpected and a little overpowering Our sever was good. Our orders came out quickly and without any issues. We did have to wait a while for top-offs on water. Also, as I was taking photos of the food our server was behind me and I apologized and they said "phone eats first," and I hope that was only meant in jest and not throwing shade lol Some tips: These plates aren't the most shareable, but if in a group I would consider ordering a variety of entrees and sides and trying each others meals If you're feeling something sweet after your meal, consider walking next door to Milk + Sugar. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the name of the restaurant, but essentially their seafood options are spectacular. And it feels like an exclusive club because the decor and service are both very much high class and special. We tried the coconut shrimp as the appetizer and really liked it. It was lightly fried and the shrimp was cooked to perfection - not under and not over. I would highly recommend this one to start. Loved it. If you're looking for a fair-priced meal, they have lots of salad and sandwich options. I tried the salmon poke bowl and it was so delicious. The fish was extremely fresh, and all the flavors blended together really well. It was like a healthy party in my mouth. It was great decision. You wanna splurge a bit and live large like YOLO? You gotta get the crab cake. Now, how good can a crab cake be? Well, if you're paying close to $50 for one crab cake, you better believe it's gonna be freaking awesome. And alas, it was. Best crab cake I've ever had in my life, no joke. And I've tried a lot of crab cakes in my many decades of dining out. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming back many times. Enjoy! Quick note on parking - plenty of parking in a huge lot shared by many businesses such as Kenny and Ziggy's. Only annoying part is several sections of the lot are designated for specific businesses, so just look for the signs and be willing to park a little bit further away towards Taco Deli and Bluestone.

It brought back memories of the last time I dined at one of their locations in Atlanta some years ago. I asked for the hollandaise sauce to be put on the side of my potatoes instead of on top, and my husband opted out of the sauce altogether. The sauce added a nice touch, it was very tasty. The dish also came with their infamous fluffy flying biscuit that comes with your choice of butter or cranberry apple butter, or both. The cranberry apple butter is delicious. We'd both experienced Flying Biscuit in Atlanta and had high hopes for this one, but unfortunately it fell flat. I ordered the eggs Benedict. And what can I say? I hate to be critical but honestly there was nothing good about this meal except the fact that it was edible. The eggs came out raw/extremely runny. I've had eggs Benedict many times and I understand how it can be difficult to prepare. But it shouldn't be raw. When I let them know, they brought me back basically like a boiled egg, which is also not eggs Benedict lol. The hollandaise sauce was also not the best. Hard to describe why but was kind of lackluster. Next came the grits. Grits were kind of pasty. Maybe because I'm from the south and know what they should taste like if you're gonna call them "creamy". They were also overly salted along with the potatoes that I got instead of the grits. Potatoes were not really seasoned, but just salty. So overall, I was kind of disappointed with my experience here. As I mentioned, the food was edible. The bread that the Benedict came on was pretty good. It may be that this is just something I shouldn't order here. Maybe I should've went with the biscuits! We'll see if we end up trying it again.
