Decent spot for lunch. Service and atmosphere: Service was okay. Friendly but not too attentive. The restaurant is big and offers seats inside and outside. The place was clean and organised. Food and drinks: They have slightly different menus for breakfast/lunch and dinner. The food options are good. Everyone can find something familiar they like from traditional to vegan options. The food portions are big. The spinach and artichoke dip was good. Lucked some salt and pepper but the pinch of salt we added brought the flavours to the dish. Kebabs plate was plentiful. The meats were tender and not overcooked. Vegetables had nice crunch. Unfortunately, the rice was served too cold. I was served wrong omelette but got it replaced quickly. The omelette with goat cheese was pretty good and tasty. We were told that the water here is filtered but it didn't taste like filtered water. Still H Town water taste which is not good. Pricing: $$ - standard prices and worth the amount of food served.

This food came out luke warm, almost as if it had been sitting in the back already plated. The service was good however, due to the restaurant being primarily empty I would assume the food would've been cooked fresh and brought out hot. I noticed our food was brought out very fast almost as if everything was premade and just reheated in a microwave. I would not plan to come back here. The atmosphere is nice but just a miss on freshness.

Steak and chicken kebabs

I was really excited to finally try Local Table today. When you walk in, the restaurant has a very industrial vibe with concrete floors and exposed brick walls. It's huge--definitely big enough to host multiple large parties at once--and the bar area is equally impressive. My dad and I chose to sit outside, and it was a very enjoyable experience. We ordered the goat cheese spread with bacon jam (highly recommend) along with the kebabs. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and it was refreshing to eat somewhere that clearly cares about the quality of their produce the same way you do at home. Service was a little slow, especially considering it was after lunchtime and the restaurant wasn't busy, but honestly, the food was good enough that the mediocre service didn't take away from the experience. I'd definitely come back--maybe next time to sit at the bar for happy hour. The environment is fun and relaxed, and it's a big bonus that your fur babies are welcome. It's exciting to finally have a dog-friendly spot like this in Houston.

The Nutritious Bowl

The only thing I have eaten at this restaurant is the Nutritious bowl. It's is amazing and my favorite dish to eat here, even though I am not vegan or vegetarian. If you are looking for a meatless option this dish is SO GOOD. Please try it out because you will not be disappointed.

Came on a Friday night, I was feeling like having a relaxed evening at the end of the week and was feeling like eating something comforting. I ordered the steak kebab plate and the tuna tartar. Both were excellent. I loved the chips that came with the tuna tartar, and the guacamole was delicious. The highlight was definitely the steak kebabs plate, the meat was very tender, the veggies fresh, and the basmati rice was very good. Can't wait to try their lemon pasta, it looks delicious. The staff here is very friendly and attentive. It's definitely a good neighborhood spot.

Eggs Benedict - prosciutto

Had a great experience at Local Table! The service was great - our server came around multiple times even after he brought the food to check on us. They have a great menu - health conscious options along with brunch/lunch options. I ended up getting the prosciutto Benedict. Eggs Benedict is one of my favorite meals so I decided to get that. They put the eggs on this massive Texas toast like bread. To be honest it was a bit much but the bread was well seasoned. The prosciutto was also delicious - almost like bacon though, but I guess there's different types and they fried it so it was pretty thick and meaty. Good experience and would love to try another menu item!

Cast-iron Spinach Artichoke Dip Tiramisu Martini

A new Houston favorite for when I visit! Menu had plenty of great options, we wanted to get everything. Staff was very friendly and chill. Restaurant was clean physically and aesthetically. We had the Tiramisu Martini that was a spinoff of an espresso martini but more sweet and had no coffee in it. The artichoke dip was a perfect amount for two. We had the Lemon Pasta with grilled chicken as an entree. The flavor was rich and the chicken was moist. Not super seasoned but balanced well with the lemon and sun dried tomato pairing. A very great experience overall!

After wanting to try Local Table for a while, finally went in for a bite. My first impression as I walked in was they did a nice job with the dining room. Seating area was inviting, the bar was tempting me for a drink even though it was pretty early, and the kitchen was showcased ( they even have a pizza oven). We were promptly greeted and seated, all employees were super nice. Decided to try a veggie burger after having too much meat over the Memorial Day weekend. It had avocado and pico de gallo, which I really liked. The fries were also pretty good. Kids also had burgers, and they were devoured within 5 minutes so I guess they liked them :). Would like to go back and try their pizza to see what that's all about!

Nice option with a big menu and enough variety that anyone should be able to meet their taste/any dietary restrictions. Fresh prep so the quality stands out. We were here for lunch on a Friday and were able to be easily seated. Staff was friendly, efficient, and attentive. I opted for their gyro plate and the portion was way more than generous - delicious and filling. Parking - private, shared strip center lot

Came in to meet some old friends for breakfast. The inside is very clean and has lots of seating as well as a full bar. The patio is nice as well and covered. We sat outside but when the sun got too strong the staff as nice enough to move our whole party inside. Service was great and the food was delicious. I ordered the chicken biscuit Benedict and it comes with some sort of sauce that I didn't really like but everyone else's food was perfect. Would definitely recommend coming here to grab brunch.

Local's Kabob Plate (combo)

***01/18/2025 Only*** We frequently visit this restaurant, I mean almost on a weekly basis and service has always been superior. Tonight was definitely an off night. The place only had about 25% of the tables sat but our server didn't bother to check in. There was a table on the other side of the half wall (right next to us) that must have been a previous employee as a few of the servers popped over to chat with them. But our server, she just stood there and talked, talked, talked. Never once checked how our food was, never once asked for a refill (we did get a refill, because I asked someone else - but I could have definitely used a 3rd...). And after sitting with our plates pushed out to the edge of the table to indicate we were done eating, after about 7ish minutes we just walked to the host stand and the manager grabbed our check. Again, usually I am 5/5 with this spot as the food is amazing and service has always been spectacular, but tonight was definitely a miss. And it was just disappointing because we could literally make eye contact with our server while she chatted up this other table without even coming over to check on us or ask if we needed anything. Will we go back? Of course! But was very disappointed tonight.

Bacon jam club sandwich with fruit cup
Leena C.

Local. Met some friends for lunch and it was a great choice. It was a nice enough day to sit outside (and I'm not an outside sitting person bc of allergies). Ordered the bacon jam club sandwich with fruit cup instead of chips. I was interested in the bacon jam and it added a nice flavor to the club. It was slightly toasted so it was crisp and tender which is exactly how I like mine. Fruit was fresh. The service was spot on. Our server was friendly and she gave great suggestions and overall made the brunch experience even better. Def would come back and try some of the other menu items.

Lemon pasta
bec s.

Always get the lemon pasta but wish they could cut back on the crushed red pepper. It's a little hot to sit on patio with a very spicy dish! Service is great. Atmosphere is nice sitting on the patio.

I made a bee line to get my funnel cake before the word spread that TFB was in Pearland! I went to my IG just to see what their times would be for the pop up. First post I see is that they have a featured flavor- the cookie butter funnel cake. With Biscoff cookies and pieces of cheesecake interlingled within... Yall, I'm not a big sweets person and I only bought the large to support the biz, but that dang funnel cake is no more! Gone. Disappeared. Now, not all at once. That would be crazy, but a few bites when I first got it...a few more hours later...a few more today and yeah its gone. It tasted just as good the next day too, so well worth the money for not only the portion size but the creativity. I never would have thought to put Biscoffs on a funnel cake....so glad somebody did! The food truck is very efficient as well. You place your order and they give you a buzzer. They were willing to bring the funnel cake to me but I had parked at a distance anticipating that more people would be showing up soon so didn't want to get blocked in. Very courteous people and the funnel cake - the BEST I EVER HAD. Hands dooooown! If you're looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, follow them on IG and enjoy satisfying that sweet tooth!

My go-to is their Mango Pomelo Sago, which you can also get the jumbo size. For two people, I'd recommend the standard size - that's usually enough, especially if you've already eaten a meal and this is your dessert. The taste of this alone is worthy of a 5-star review for Hui Lau Shan. I think the combination of pomelo and sago with the mango and ice cream really goes together deliciously well. But hey, there's more! I was introduced to their mango mochi, which comes in easy-to-take-home packaging. So it's quite easy to eat the Mango Pomelo Sago on site while bringing more yummy dessert home for snacking on later. It's utterly delicious. Service is fast. This location is in the poppin' Dun Hwang Plaza of Bellaire Chinatown, so if it's hard to find parking in the lot, use the parking complexes - it so happens that Hui Lau Shan's location is really close to one of the Dun Hwang parking complexes, making things really convenient. Yay! So yes if you like mango, boom, this place is certainly a place well worth going to. Enjoy!

Since we were already in the area after breakfast at TJ's Filipino Cuisine, we finally got the chance to stop by and try their baked goods for ourselves. We arrived early, so the bakery wasn't too busy yet. The bakers were busy prepping more goodies in the back while my cousin and I browsed all the Filipino baked goods we really miss from back home in the Philippines. They even had suman, sapin-sapin, biko, and other kakanin, which was nice to see. I specifically looked for the chicken empanada, and my cousin wanted to try the ube white chocolate chip cookie. We also saw different kinds of siopao and planned to come back later to buy some before heading back to San Antonio. We tried the ube white chocolate chip cookie first, but honestly we weren't totally satisfied. It tasted more like a regular white chocolate chip cookie with purple coloring and didn't really have much ube flavor. I also tried the chicken empanada. My cousin didn't like it because it was sweeter than expected--we were both expecting it to be savory. There seemed to be caramelized sugar in the outside of the pastry, which probably added to the sweetness. I still like it, though it was definitely sweeter than what I'm used to. Red Ribbon's chicken empanada is still my favorite. Later that day before leaving Houston, we came back for the siopao we planned to take home. We finally decided to just buy a couple pieces for ourselves, heat them up in the bakery, and try them fresh. When we saw the price for a four-pack, we were honestly disappointed. It felt expensive for the size. The siopao wasn't huge, and while I like the dough, there wasn't much chicken filling inside. For the portion, taste, and quality, it felt overpriced. Overall, it's probably not worth making another trip back for us. We did enjoy the cassava ube suman, and I like the chicken empanada, but not enough to drive all the way to Houston just for those. If I live nearby, I might come back to try other baked goods, but based on this visit, I'm not sure the rest would impress my palate. I still give them credit for cleanliness and customer service, although we did notice fruit flies on one of the shelves and reported it. The staff was friendly, and the bakery itself was welcoming. At the end of the day, since they're a bakery, the expectation is great-tasting, quality, mouthwatering Filipino breads, pastries ", and kakanin. While some items were enjoyable, overall it just didn't quite live up to the hype for us.
