We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Edwin at Hungry's during our recent work Happy Hour Social, and he truly made the entire experience exceptional. From the moment we arrived, Edwin set the tone with his warm, welcoming energy and genuine kindness. Hosting a group during happy hour can be a lot to juggle, but he handled everything seamlessly. He was incredibly attentive without ever being intrusive -- constantly aware of our needs, refilling drinks promptly, checking in at just the right moments, and making sure everyone in our group felt taken care of. What really stood out was his deep knowledge of the food and drink menu. Edwin offered thoughtful recommendations, explained specials in detail, and helped guests navigate options with confidence and enthusiasm. Whether it was suggesting the perfect cocktail pairing or describing appetizers in a way that made them impossible to resist, his expertise elevated the entire event. Beyond his professionalism, Edwin's positive attitude and calm demeanor created such an inviting atmosphere. Well, here's a quick backstory. I asked my nephew that I wanted to take his father, my brother-in-law out to dinner because my sister had recently passed away. Brad, my nephew, who is not a foodie,wanted to pick a restaurant that was reasonably close to all of us. He decided on Hungry's in the village. I said fine only because I wanted to take Melvin out and food was not the important criteria. Ok, about the restaurant. In a word, the food was in the pedestrian class of places that I would have picked. Looking at the menu beforehand I looked for something that the restaurant couldn't screw up. My three choices were Meatloaf with mash potatoes and green beans, Chicken Fried Steak with mash potatoes and green beans, and Chicken Pot Pie with yes you guessed it. Melvin went for the meatloaf, Brad chose a meat and chicken kabob that I hope was better than it looked, and my wife, a.k.a.,Love Muffin chose the trout that was smothered with Pineapple salsa and other stuff Personally, I don't like food that is smothered in anything. The food, as I expected, was mediocre. The waitstaff were very friendly, polite, and came right away after noticing all our waving hands that were visible over a lot of empty tables. The only redeeming quality was that for the four of us the bill was $155.00 including wine. As they say, you get what you pay for. I came with a large party for a friend's birthday lunch on a weekday and it was quite packed. We were seated in an indoor area that is connected to the patio, and I'm not sure what was up with the walls/windows, but the air was pretty humid and sticky. After deliberating over the menu, I went with the Gyros Pita with Fries. I should've foreshadowed the quality of the dish based on the very Americanized name, but I was craving Mediterranean food at the time. Fries came out fantastic- airy with a nice crispy texture. The gyro pita... not so much. The meat was really dry and they skimped out on the tzatziki sauce and vegetables. I will not be getting that dish again. But everybody else's dishes looked good! The only reason this review didn't get 2 stars was the service. They were attentive, efficient, and managed a large party very well. I probably came on an off day and ordered the wrong dish; I'd give Hungry's another try. But I am not running to come back here. As for parking, there's a parking lot but only very few free parking spots and if those are taken up, you're going to need to valet. read more

Hungry's is located walking distance from us so we normally walk to allow our toddler to bike in. There's a bike rack out front so we just leave his little bike and ask to be seated on the patio. The outdoor patio is nice and modern, and very pleasant lately with the nice night time weather in Houston lately! I can see how it'll be hot once it warms up! There's plenty of TVs on the patio to catch any games, and makes for a casual experience. Both times we came, service was fantastic! They give the kiddos these origami sheets so they can fold up little birds! They have a decent kids menu - mine loves the spaghetti and meatballs, but it only comes with 3 meatballs. He's more of a meatball kid and less interested in the carbs/noodles. It comes with a kids drink - he usually wants milk, and a cookie - red velvet was the only option he had both times. Hubby loves the ceviche and I always go back to the honey salmon and french green beans. The portions are small but they allowed me to just get green beans and omit the rice! It's a pretty casual restaurant that offers lots of different food options so they have something for everyone and an item for whatever you're in the mood for. There's valet services offered outside because self parking options are limited. The staff is very friendly and they have great customer service. read more

This was my first time here and it definitely won't be the last ! Came for a lunch with a friend! Sat on the outdoor patio and it was very nice. Wait staff were very kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu! I had the gyro pita and fries and the gyro pita was so flavorful and a great portion. Hungry's killed it yet again with food and service today! Enjoyed some iced mint tea on the beautiful patio. We ordered the Anaheim chicken and the fried chicken version. Chicken was cooked perfectly on both, made potatoes were creamy and tasty, and Anaheim sauce was on point. Pita bread...always the highlight of the meal! Service was friendly, attentive, packed up our food at the end of our meal. We will be back for some other tasty dishes very soon! read more

Met friends for lunch at Hungry's today. It was my first time here. We all ordered salads with a protein of some sort added and they were delicious. Also enjoyed an iced hibiscus tea. The patio is really nice and plenty of seating out there. The parking situation is mostly valet with some self-park spots but I was lucky to get a spot on the street. Service (Jose) was tops as well. Will definitely go back as to enjoy their lovely patio for dinner sometime soon. read more

Hungry's is one of my favorite spots for happy hour in Rice Village. It's every day from 3-6pm. They have a large selection of appetizers and drinks to choose from, and everything is at a great price! The drinks are good, but the appetizers are better. Their baked goat cheese & cashew queso is savory and delicious. Even though I'm not vegan, the cashew queso is a must try! The service is attentive and there are a couple pleasant outdoor seating options. The upper balcony is my favorite spot to unwind with friends on an any afternoon! read more

I was here for a large business dinner. The staff handled our group of 20 plus well. The menu was prearranged by our planner but there were plenty of entree choices to make everyone happy. Everyone had hummus with pita and veggie sticks as an appetizer and then there was a wedge salad course. I liked the jalapeno feta dressing more than I expected. The perfect amount of salty and heat. As an entree I had the fettucine bianca with grilled shrimp. The shrimp were perfect and the fettucine was tasty. For dessert, I had the butterscotch pudding which was yummy. I was pleasantly surprised by the falafel bowl I got for lunch here. It was a large portion and quite tasty. My iced mint tea was good, too! But honestly the parking situation is a huge turn-off. I absolutely love hungry's. I have been here multiple times and everytime I come the food, the service, the ambiance is perfect. I love that their spacious outdoor patio is dog friendly and the staff are all so attentive and friendly. They have multiple fans and umbrellas outside to fight the heat. My group of 4 came on a Saturday night with our two fur babies and we were immediately seated. We ordered the ahi tuna poke bowl, the kebab plate and my go to favorite is the falafel bowl. Food was delicious. Portion sizes are big and enough to take home. I still prefer their brunch over their dinner but dinner was still good. Went back for the Sunday brunch. Service was excellent and the food was, of course, very good. Pretty restaurant with seating available outside. My guests had mimosas and a vanilla latte - they have an expresso machine so they can make various expresso drinks (no non-fat milk). This place was amazing! From the time we entered I was impressed with the attentive service we received. Our entire party was present, but the staff still showed us to our table and proceeded to take our initial orders. Our waiter was extremely nice and constantly made sure our glasses were full. The interior was lively and I loved the wine wall, as I called it, which were filled with bottles of various types. I continued to be surprised by how quickly our orders came out. The croissant French toast and the crab cake eggs Benedict were outstanding. The crab cake was of an extremely generous size and the the combination of that with the eggs and toast were delicious. The sweet French toast was a nice way to offset the savory. The pieces of toast were substantial and rich, with a nice paring of fresh fruits and syrup. Yes, yes, yes, yes now this is how it's needs to be all over Houston. The food was great the service was outstanding and the place was clean. I went to a happy hour here and I will say the have one of the best smoked old fashioned I have had in the city. It wasn't loud music or under dressed waitress or 900 TV's all over the place. This is a nice spot to go and have great food and great conversation with a group of friends. This is my type of place. This place is very cute inside. I came here for a bachelorette brunch with a few friends. I'm very glad they had a few vegetarian/vegan options since I am on lent. I tried the blueberry basil lemonade, which was refreshing. I got the Parmesan fries with the feta jalapeño dressing as my appetizer...and I was obsessed with that dip that I kept asking for more! And then I ordered the French omelette sandwich with a dill cucumber salad & potatoes, which was good. I know the other girls enjoyed their food as well. My go to dish is their honey glaze salmon that comes with basmati rice topped with lentils and white raisins and mixed vegetables and garlic toast. Simply the best tasting salmon in Houston. I have moved to The Woodlands so I don't get there too often. But while in houston for a golf tournament my mouth was watering for the distinct taste of this salmon meal. However, it is with reservation and sadness I must say it was not the same. The original dish would have a glazed piece of salmon cooked so the sugar of the glaze would caramelize. Honestly the fish would be slightly drier but it was unique to the dish. This new version had the salmon cooked to perfection with the glaze added afterward. No char. No caramelized sugars. No extra special taste. I was so disappointed because the taste never satisfied the memory seared in my brain. I hope if and when I return I can ask the fish to be glazed while cooking to get the old wonderful taste back. Otherwise, the food is very good and the menu has a wide variety of cleverly constructed dishes. read more

My family and I have returned to Hungry's, one of our most favorite eateries. Ronnie, who greeted us, was pleasant and accommodating. He saw that my mother was using a walker and immediately acted to ensure her comfort. Brian was our waiter. He was as outstanding as when Daniel recommended him before Daniel left Hungry's. The food was marvelous. We had the hummus and raw vegetables, an appetizer we have usually ordered since we began visiting the original Hungry's. The salmon with quinoa and vegetables is to die for. My mother chose the gyro steak sandwich. She was pleasantly impressed. She was also delighted to be able to have the same delicious French fries once again, the same fries she had when we ate at the original Hungry's. Finally, my son ordered and had a crispy fried chicken dish. It was complemented with broccoli, mashed potatoes, and Hungry's delicious pan-seared Brussels sprouts. The wine we had was an exquisite Decoy Cabernet. It was smooth and deliciously complimentary. We thank Brian for suggesting that this very palatable wine accompany our meal. Brunch on the weekends is always delicious! I had the egg and prosciutto skillet and it was yummy!!! I also indulged in the strawberry mimosas. Their carafes are reasonably priced $22/carafe, and you can get about 5-6 glasses per carafe. Self parking is very limited to a few spaces and Valet parking is available as well. I try not to be too critical when I can help it, but unfortunately, this food experience was not what we were hoping for from Hungry's. This was a to-go order so I cannot comment on the aura of the restaurant. The food was ready at the time we ordered it, and given how busy the restaurant is, this is worth mentioning. To Hungry's credit, the food was (mostly) packed well, in a secure bag. The only item that spilled was the yogurt addition to the spinach artichoke dip. This was messy, but a bearable mess. We received extra utensils as requested. The best item: the goat cheese and crostinis. This was tasty, lightly sweetened with dried fruit, and worked well with the crostinis. Unfortunately, the eating experience went downhill from there. The spinach artichoke dip was not tasty, and for the price, is quite unreasonable. The spinach mushroom penne pasta was the true letdown. This looked, and tasted, like a penna pasta I could have cooked at home. Some sauce, spinach, mushroom, and cheese, and truly nothing that made this stand out as an item. We got the brownie as dessert, and it was fine. I would not order it again. I wish I could have said this was a more worthwhile experience, but for cost to quality ratio, I would not recommend Hungry's as an option. read more

Steak sandwich: bread was super soft and fluffy. Steak bits were still fat and tender. Perfectly hot to counter this cold weather. Careful to not wear white while trying to cool each spoonful. Caesar Cobb Salad w/ shrimp: Shrimps have a great snap while still maintaining juice with no dryness. Bacon slices have a distinct earthy/nutty flavor with solid chew to balance the salad crispness. This spot is one of my favorite places to take my mom. We always invite my uncle and aunt because the location is convenient for everyone. I follow a plant forward diet so my go to dish is everything on the plant based menu, especially the crispy eggplant tacos!!! My uncle is a very picky eater but he always enjoys his food. Our waiter Luis was so patient because you know my uncle gave him the 3rd degree and asks questions about everything on the menu. How much salt is in the dish? Can you make it without butter? We love Hungry's for the great menu items, the self service condiment bar, and the upstairs/outdoors seating options. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is great! My friends and I decided to go out for dinner at Hungry's, the moment I arrived, the male server seemed uninterested and not engaging with answering questions regarding the menu. He would take the order and walk away fast even though my friends and I had additional questions and wanted to order more. I do understand it was pretty busy that evening, but it leaves no excuse to make your patrons feel ignored. However, when it came time to pay, our server the bill, saying he was "too busy to split it". In the end, we had to pay individually and deal with the awkwardness of figuring out who ordered what, all because the server did not split the bill in the beginning. As we were leaving to retrieve our vehicles since parking was valet that evening. A female attendant pointed at the QR code and said, "to scan this for tips." The female valet was not only pushy but also made me feel obligated. I understand tipping is a part of the service, but I've never experienced someone outright demanding a tip in such a forceful manner. read more

Went here for dinner the other night with my girl friends and we had such a good time!! Two of my friends got the Black Berry Ginger Margarita, and my other friend and I got the Cucumber Martini. My friends enjoyed their margaritas, but the martinis had too much ginger flavor and had no taste of cucumber which was disappointing. But the presentation was incredible!! For dinner, two of my friends got the burger, one got the Hungry's Kabob Plate, and I got the Anaheim Chile Grilled Chicken. Let's just say, WE LOVED OUR FOOD!!! The chicken was just phenomenal, I loved the cream sauce that came with it. Our server was very attentive and would ask how our food was thought the meal. Thoroughly enjoyed lunch with the family outdoors here. They have a nice patio and service was attentive and helpful, especially when we needed to ask questions about the food ingredients for my daughter who has food allergies. My daughter was able to safely eat penne pasta with grilled chicken and marinara sauce (our go-to at many restaurants to avoid egg, dairy and cashew/pistachio allergies). We got the green Chile shrimp ceviche appetizer as well, which she was able to safely eat too. And it was very refreshing but did feel like it could use more shrimp. My prosciutto and pineapple pizza was just as I expected it and satisfied my sudden craving for pizza! It was a good portion too and had to take some home for leftovers. The rest of the family was happy about their choices too! Parking lot had a few empty spots when we arrived so we're able to self-park.
