I had been to Urbe a few times before but always to order off the menu. Finally got the chance to go for their breakfast/ brunch buffet. First of all, super friendly staff. Was greeted upon walking in. There was a dj playing music which made it fun. Our waiter was fantastic too, as soon as I sat down (after 2 of my other family members had arrived and already ordered what to drink) he came right over to see what id like to start with. I ended up ordering a mexican hot chocolate which i absolutely loved. Buffet selection was HUGE. Loved 99% of the things i tried. Only few things I left on my plate were the chicken (too much breading) from the chicken and waffle, half of the shrimp enchilada (bland) and one of the meat gorditas (the breading was thick and chewy). Overall I had one big plate of food and then 2 smaller plates for whenever i got a little bit of pozole and fruit/dessert. I plan on coming back for sure! read more

The place was clean and had nice decorations. The food was very good, but the ordering process was confusing. The menu is descriptive, and we were greeted and seated right away, but then told we needed to place our order at the counter, which wasn't clear at first. Parking is plentiful, which is a nice plus. The signs were there all along.... Open dinner reservations on a Friday night in Houston, Texas! The restaurant never got full during our visit! I'm sure it's a different story for their famous Sunday brunch! The moment we were seated, I noticed the floor below our table was dirty....food crumbs scattered around my feet. It seemed like the party before us totally missed their mouths during 75% of their dining experience. This restaurant is cute! Brightly decorated! Bold colors! Parking can be a bit of a hassle but be patient, folks are constantly coming and going! I was eager to try the mariscada when I saw another diner with it. It arrived to her sizzling on some type of tree stump plate. Beautiful presentation! Right then and there, I knew it had to be mine! I subbed Spanish rice for potatoes ...big mistake! My entree arrived 3 minutes after ordering on a "regular" plate, ice cold...did I get someone's plate? A little disappointing. The seafood tasted fresh, the portion was a little light for almost 40 bucks, but it's SEAFOOD ...I get it. The rice was pretty bland...just not for me...started longing for the potatoes after the second bite. The margarita was a margarita. Nothing special, but I did appreciate that it wasn't overly sweet. Just right for my liking! Zaddy got the platter with the tacos, elote, gorditas....must've been sitting around for hours. Ice cold food! He has eaten half of it by the time he said something and I noticed...why didn't he say that at the beginning?! You know how men are sometimes....oh well.... The place has excellent potential. Came here for a Sunday brunch last month. The music was very loud as you entered the restaurant because the DJ was to the right of the front door. There was a variety of savory dishes to choose from. It was too hot dining outside but it was too loud to dine inside. When we tried to give the DJ some advice regarding the noise level, he suggested for us to sit further away inside, that the music would not have been that loud. read more

Went to Urbe for happy hour after work. My coworkers and I all had a great time. There were plenty of seating, our waitress was great and attentive. The drinks always came out quickly. I have dined at urbe a few times before but chose again for Mother's Day brunch this year. I will say urbe far exceeded my expectations. As a first time mom, and first year celebrating Mother's Day, our server Luna went above and beyond! We felt cared for the whole time. The way Luna provided such calm and sweet energy to our party made it a seamless transition for a busy Mother's Day brunch. They even accommodated our special needs brother for the meal. Service was quick and prompt, but did not feel rushed at all. They were also able to divide checks for our party of 8 but unsure if that was because it was only brunch so it was already a set price. For adults it was $47 for a two hour limit of all you can eat buffet and children were $17. I wish I had pictures of the food, but it all tasted amazing. My favorite standouts were the totopos with green salsa that actually had some spice to it and tasted like Mexican salsa! The brisket, chicharron and biscoff banana pudding were by far my favorites of the buffet. I also tried their refried black beans which were some of the best I've ever tasted outside of making it at home. I also ordered the horchata iced coffee and it was a well balanced coffee-- not too sweet and not too overpowering with coffee. Ambiance was quite relaxing, regardless of how busy it was, it didn't feel too loud or too overwhelming/overstimulating. What a wonderful valentines experience me and my boyfriend got, the ambiance was full of love and the tables had rose petals making the place cute. The server was also so welcoming and patient for our first time eating there, we started off with agua frescas of horchata and watermelon and oh my they were delicious! For appetizer we had to try the Plato de Botanas which consisted a little bit of everything which was a great way to start, we got to sample a little bit of everything and it was overall good but what was really good was the Gorditas and Tacos de pastor we ended up ordering a plate of tacos de pastor to keep on eating. Wonderful experience for Valentines dinner will be coming back again, great food, great server & great ambiance. I went to Urbe with a friend during happy hour on a Friday. Oddly, the GPS directed me to the back door, which was strange since I'm familiar with the area but needed some help navigating from where I was coming from. The restaurant was busy for 5:30, but as we continued chatting, it quickly got even busier. We ordered the Plato de Botanas to share, which came with bite-sized portions of taquitos, gorditas, tacos al pastor, elotitos, and quesadillas. The presentation was pretty, with all the little bites on one platter--total girl vibes! My favorites were the taquitos and quesadillas (I love cheese and sour cream), but the tacos al pastor were definitely the most flavorful, due to the pineapple and pork combo. I just wish the dishes, or at least the sauces, had more of a spicy flare to them. As for the service, our waitress was decent, but I wish she had checked on us before happy hour ended, as we wanted to order more. read more

I came here with my sister and a friend because it was near by and we were craving mexican. The restaurant itself is located in a very crowded area so parking was difficult to find. I got a diet coke but my sister ordered one of their margs that was pineapple flavored and she thought it was fine. We ordered the queso flameado which was a brisket covered in warm cheese served with tortillas and salsa for an app which was absolutely delicious. My sister ordered the plato de botanas which is a plate with several of their most popular items. We don't eat pork and were able to replace the pork dishes with beef but there was an upcharge for that. I ordered the arrachera which was basically a skirt steak with rice and beans. Everything was so yummy but it honestly was very expensive. My total bill ended up being around $60 with tip which felt like a little too much for a seemingly very casual restaurant. They also advertise themselves as street food so I was surprised to see that most of their dishes were over $20. The menu is also very limited and was mainly seafood and had very little beef or chicken options. Service was a bit slow as well which was odd considering the restaurant wasn't very full. Tbh probably wouldn't visit again. Texas has so many mexican restaurants with much better food and service at a more reasonable cost. read more

Is so sad that they removed my favorite Pozole from their regular menu and also no more sweet bread for breakfast on Saturday. Those were my favorites. We were going every weekend and brought friends and family that just loved it. We wish they bring back the pozole . The huarache that also is not longer in the menu only I think is only for breakfast The brunch is good but I rather order à la carte ... hopefully for the season those items come back. They have frozen drinks as well. The brunch has a variety of items. It is not a traditional brunch with waffles and pancakes. Amazing place for our team holiday luncheon. Menu is different than your standard Mexican fare but delicious. We started with the appetizer sampler and the spice level is a bit higher, the burn was good. The corn was a standout. I settled on the pork belly and carnitas tacos minus the heat and loved every bite. We had a side of potatoes and a side of brussel sprouts and their treatment of those loaded sprouts made each a flavor bomb. Just outstanding. The restaurant was well decorated, naturally lit, and clean, but upon sampling a variety of beautifully plated menu items, sadly, none of us left wanting more. So in traditional "why not" fashion, I returned! And although this trip began with a patron visibly repulsed by my presence sitting near him at the bar...(dude, rude), from the moment I saw the llama pendant in the succulent, and the bartender plopped down an el Diablo cup holder, that was then graced with a guavazintle cocktail, this trip looked promising. If you enjoy Mezcal and guava, or smokey, fruity, tart combos, this one is for you. Bonus, it's strong! In traditional restaurant week fashion I ordered per the HRW menu, and following careful contemplation, I went for the huarache. Spicy, fresh, and filling, this one item faired better than every item I sampled on our initial visit. It was a treat to see the gaggle of new additions to the menu, plus a bonus of a fast casual Mexican treat counter with concha's, churros, and additional goodies. I can confirm that the tres leches is pretty dang tasty. For some reason they packaged my spiked horchata latte, and tres leches to go, but that's a minor wtf. Two little notes- 1.The bartending staff is not the most professional. For some folks this doesn't matter, but listening in on their conversations was...something else. 2. I believe some of the menu items could even be the same. I do love that these restaurants always have delicious vegetarian menus with a wide variety of items. Urbe's environment was less upscale than the other restaurants in the group, and it interestingly is counter service during lunch time weekdays and becomes full service for dinner/weekends. It seems like the prices are the same though. Our waiter was ok - he ordered the wrong item for a friend and was difficult to hear during our meal. I ordered the vegetarian huarache (masa cake) -- it was a large portion size, large enough to where I took some leftovers home. It was tasty but like many of the dishes on the vegetarian menu does have a more sour flavor to it. I found it a bit pricey, but I'm used to Mexican food being cheap. The Happy Hour menu has good deals, though. I ordered a HH Pork Belly Taco, which was delicious, layered with crispy belly and pulled pork. The chips, guacamole, and salsa were excellent, with super thick chips. What I noticed in my companions' food was how pretty and beautifully presented it was. My guy said his Ceviche was good, but very spicy. I sampled two desserts. I loved the chocolate cake, but the bread pudding was not to my taste. In general, I'd prefer what is meant to be inexpensive street food to BE fairly inexpensive. This place was not inexpensive. I wish I could give this restaurant 10 stars!!!! We celebrated my friend's birthday a week ago and making the reservation was extremely easy. We had a total of 15 guest show up. Our server, Glenn C. Was absolutely amazing!!! He truly went above and beyond to make sure that we were all taken care of. For some of us, it was our first time here, but certainly not our last. I loved that they had our table sit by a corner so we had plenty of room to move around. During the reservation, they asked what we were celebrating and I let them know that It was my friend's birthday. When we got to the table, they had some birthday cards for her to decorate the table. The food was absolutely amazing. I loved that they had a vegan menu and just had so many options. It was hard to choose just one thing, the drinks were also amazing. The price point was just right.
