    Update: I came back and it was a true culinary experience! Every dish, every bite, every sip is a journey of flavors. We came to celebrate my friend's birthday, and we had one of the most truly amazing diner experiences. Our server Adam was so knowledgeable, he knows the menu and every dish like the palm of his hand, and that made our diner experience so delightful. This time we ordered "family style", several plates and we shared. The chef sent a palate cleanser, mini empanadas with flor de calabaza, the masa tasted like Mexico Sope de Pulpo (Octopus sope) and Tostada de Atún (Tuna tostada) were our appetizers and we enjoyed every bite, the Sope de Pulpo was my favorite For diner we got the Carne Asada for 2 and Cochinita Pibil, I was hesitant about the last one because my mom makes a mean Cochinita Pibil, but the Chef didn't disappoint it felt like home! Our drinks were so good, I ordered again Metstli (mezcal drink), I love it. When you come, you have the option of park yourself at the parking garage for a very small fee or use the valet ($8). Don't forget, reservation is a must! This is a high end restaurant and dressing appropriate is appreciated.     Good food, good drinks, good service! My husband picked this spot out for us for date night. We were assigned a table upstairs, which was so cozy and fun. There were so many little aesthetic elements that I appreciated; including the textured floral walls and confessional-style screens to separate the booths. It is a new addition to Autry Park, which means you either need to valet or pay for garage parking and walk (but it is just around the corner from the garage). The vibes of the space are really fun, with open concept hot and cold kitchen spaces that you walk by on the way to your table. Our servers and waiter were very knowledgeable about both the restaurant and the food, and were able to steer us in the right direction with ordering. They ask that you place your entire order at once, and then they course it out for you. We had the hamachi starter and beef carnitas croquettes, the Tacos Mar y Tierra, the barbacoa and sweet potato main, and the cacao dessert. Everything was delicious, and it was hard to pick a favorite, but the croquettes might have been the winner. Be careful though, they have some spice to them! They have a fun cocktail list that we really enjoyed as well. Another spicy favorite was the Xochitl. Very flavorful and fun! Would definitely recommend this spot.

    Mayahuel - Lunch $8 valet parking. The ocelotl cocktail was very good. An old fashioned with mezcal as its base. Awesome big single cube of crystal clear ice. A thickened tortilla soup, thickened with? Onions? Masa? Cornstarch/flour? Probably masa. Good flavor. Nothing overwhelming or one note. Perfectly accepable. For my personal taste, I would not order it again as just too thick a gravy for my personal preference. But that's just me. Nothing wrong with it. Guacamole was good. Well prepared. I'd probably remove the cilantro microgreens next time before eating it. Good, thicker totopos. Small serving for the price. They could consider doubling the portion size, consider it as a loss leader, to get diners talking about it. Since typically it is one of the first things that is brought to the table.. Quesadillas get an "acceptable" rating. Within the spectrum of quesadillas recipes but I would have enjoyed, personal taste, less greasy tortillitas. Lovely presentation. Noisy sound system. Restaurants don't really need to blast music. It interferes with conversations. Just adds overall noise level. IMHO. Not sure how loud they keep it when restaurant is full. Chicken milanesa was good. On a bed of black beans with verdolaga on top. Nice crunch. Nice seasonings. Enjoyable. Chicken breast is correct for milanesa. I personally am not a fan of dark meat, but many people feel that a boneless skinless chicken thigh is juicier and more tender (as opposed to the chicken breast that was used for this milanesa). So if the restaurant gets responses from others about the chicken breast being dry, they might consider switching to the juiceier boneless and skinless chicken thigh for this entrée. Tried the flan. Can skip the flan; try a different dessert instead. Small portion. Some sort of burned something topping it. I'm glad that I came today. An opportunity to try a place that was really off my radar because of cost. (No need to come back right away until I've tried more untried restaurants in Houston in 2026. In other words, good but no "I can't wait to dine here again" moments.) Just too many places on my list to try. Really nice staff. So friendly. They really contributed to the lunch experience. Update. Late evening/next day. Doggie bagged the quesadillas and chicken to take home. Did not hold up after refrigeration. Quesadillas couldn't be brought back to edible and were tossed in trash. Chicken chopped and chicken salad made.

    I came for the Valentine's Day pre-fix menu and I must say the meal was a 10/10, a true culinary delight. The service was impeccable from the time we walked in and throughout our dining. The restaurant is decorated nicely with an open kitchen concept. I will definitely be back to try more menu items.

    A wonderful new addition to Autry Park. I had my doubts coming in but the meal dispelled all of them. We had a number of appetizers and tacos - all of them delicious. My favorites were the bluefin tuna tostada, beef carnitas croquette, mushroom tacos, and the pork belly tacos. I docked one star because the main course we ordered - the carne asada - was the weakest one. It was dry and flavor was lacking - a bit disappointing after the prior courses. Service was great and the restaurant ambiance was very nice - classy and quiet. We will be back.

    Dinner at Mayahuel was another flavorful culinary journey with foodie friends. Aesthetically, the restaurant is tastefully decked out with modern exotic statement pieces, and the soaring ceilings lend to a museum vibe. My only qualm here is the lack of natural light. But it was a beautiful space, nonetheless. We all enjoyed the cocktails, and the four appetizers we tried delivered on unique textures and flavors. We agreed on a favorite bite: they called it a quesadilla, but it was so much more than that. The shell was delicate with a crisp exterior and a soft dreamy center that burst with comforting savoriness, reflecting complex simplicity. We tried three different tacos, along with the pork shoulder entree. Basically, everything our server recommended, we ordered. Speaking of our server, she was outstanding! The way she described each selection demonstrated a true knowledge and love of every dish. She made everything sound amazing, so instead of choosing one or the other, we tried it all. The desserts are definitely shareable and interesting, offering two expressions of the main ingredient. While we enjoyed trying each iteration, we agreed the desserts were mot as impressive as the appetizers.

    Wow wow. I was reticent heading into our Friday night reservation because I had heard mixed reviews both from friends and the internet, but we absolutely loved our whole experience at Mayahuel. It had been on my to do list for a minute because we were in Mexico City in January and loved the food. Upon arrival we were taken straight to our table in view of the open kitchen. The restaurant itself is sleek modern and, if I'm being picky, just a *little* too bright inside. It also smelled amazing. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with recommendations throughout the evening and I felt like he checked in on us an appropriate amount without being overbearing. After placing and receiving our cocktail order, we placed our whole dinner order in one go which he said he would make sure was coursed out, and it was paced beautifully. To start we ordered the mushroom tacos, hamachi Aguachile and pork belly tacos. I often feel like pork belly leans too fatty but I loved this dish. The mole and the beans were a perfect balance to the pork. For dinner we shared the carne asada, cochinita and roast chicken. Everything was really delicious but I think the consensus on favorite dish was the cochinita. Though the roasted onion puree that came with the carne asada was also dynamite. For dessert we ordered the cacao which I intended to abstain from because it had mango, and I unfortunately have a mango allergy but when the chef brought the dessert to the table he brought me a side dessert sans mango. It was completely unnecessary and so nice/thoughtful. We have only been here once so I can't speak to consistency but we had such a great dinner that we will absolutely be back.

    Mayahuel is a really pretty spot with lots of seating options: inside, upstairs, the bar, and a nice patio. The open kitchen concept is also a cool touch. We came in for Saturday brunch, and overall the food was good. I had the green chilaquiles with wagyu steak, which I really enjoyed. The drinks, however, weren't my favorite. The peach bellini was a bit too strong for my taste. One downside was that the dish we originally ordered was already sold out, which was disappointing. It feels a little off that they still take reservations until close if they know they might run out of menu items. On the plus side, they do validate parking for $5, which is super convenient. All in all, it's a beautiful restaurant with solid food, but I'd love to see a little more consistency with the drinks and menu availability.

    We checked out Mayahuel right at opening (5pm). Valet wasn't running yet, but parking in the garage for $5 was a breeze. Kicked things off with some cocktails, guac, croquette, and oysters. The guac was super fresh, and the oysters set the tone perfectly. Then came the shrimp and beef cheek tacos (came with 2) and the carne asada. Let me just say, the carne asada stole the show. Juicy, tender, full of flavor... I'd come back just for that alone. Oh and they have serve fresh corn tortillas that are just perfection that elevated the tacos! Dessert was a bit of a mixed bag. The vanilla dish came with ice cream and caviar on the side (unexpected perfect combination) and a rum cake with pineapple and cream. The ice cream + caviar combo was a winner, but the cake didn't hit the same high note. Service was friendly and attentive, food came out quick, and overall the vibes were great. If you go, don't skip the carne asada, it's worth it!

    A hidden gem just south of Buffalo Bayou! Artfully decorated with an open kitchen concept and soft dim lighting and tasteful industrial modern accents, Mayahuel's ambience, food, and service were nothing short of spectacular. Our dinner started with elote compliments of the chef which tastefully highlighted the freshness of the corn rather than over sweeting like many elote dishes. Our mains - the Short Rib Barbacoa and the Cochinita were cooked to perfection and incredibly flavored. The blue corn masa tortillas that came with the Cochinita were to die for, strong yet supple and melt-in-your-mouth tender, we couldn't stop eating them!! We ended with the Cacao dessert, a tribute to chocolate and a multisensory experience. It held a smorgasbord of textures from the velvety chocolate ice cream to the satisfying crunch of the layers of chocolate and the saltiness of the caramel grounding the earthiness of the chocolate. The only note of improvement we had was our cocktails took about 15-20 minutes to come out with a near empty restaurant, they were delicious though! We will be back!

    New spot in autry park!!! Modern Mexican restaurant, our waiter was Adam. He did great at explaining what all they had to offer on their menu. He also helped make me a different mocktail which was not on the menu. We did the beef carnitas croquettes, oysters and caviar and tacos mar y Tierra. Tacos were amazing with a huge shrimp on them!! The flavors were everything and more. The oysters and caviar were more of a sand which feel- if you like caviar you would love this. This place is quiet and great for girls night, date night or family dinner. The menu is short but perfect from the chef Luis Richard's. We shall be back. Garage parking or valet!

    If you want authentic high end Mexican cuisine with a classic French twist look no further. We had an amazing time at Mayahuel. The desserts and drinks were fabulous. They also offer a delicious brunch and I can't wait to return!

    I'm staying in Houston for the next couple weeks and Mayahuel was the very first restaurant I tried in the city since arriving this week. Very charming interior, I was especially pleased with the lighting in the bathrooms! We were able to get a table in less than 10 minutes while waiting at the bar. Looked over their cocktail menu and I always appreciate a good selection of house recipes. I opted for a mocktail and my date tried a Malbec from their wine list to start. Our server was excellent and prompt! We started with the carnitas croquettes (Amazing, for the record. We even ordered a second batch.) I'm already thinking of my next visit for those alone. While I'm not much of a seafood fan, we also tried the hamachi. Trying to broaden my palate! It wasn't bad at all as far as fish goes. If you like seafood more than me then I'm sure you'd really enjoy it, it was very fresh. For our mains, we shared the pork belly tacos and then the filet mignon with mole. Both extremely delicious. All in all, great first visit! Thank you!

I absolutely loved my dish, only thing I would've chance was the cheese enchilada definitely would've swap for a chicken or beef one, or maybe even a flaunta. I really like the Mexican rice, it had little potatoes and carrots in it. Some of the best Mexican yellow rice I've had. They offer a cinco de mayo drink special. The only thing that seem to make it special was the drinks apparently were limited edition menu items. Nothing was special about the prices. The regular menu drinks were a dollar(s) less. The margarita I ordered first was peach coconut. I didn't taste the coconut at all. I swap for the peach strawberry ($14 or 15) which was great, sweet& strong. One did me just right. You get to select up to two flavors for additional $2 (for both verse each, that's a plus. Not worded on menu). If you select a third flavor an additional $2 would be added ($4 in total) I appreciate separate tickets provided after confirmation and no additional gratuity automatically added, which he got tip equally the same or more. When asked about the "empty" patio that was available, he informed us that the entire deck was reserved. Upon departing I noticed from the parking lot individual tables, of separate parties were occupying only 3 tables. It was 8 of us sitting at 2 tables. Which the table was pushed up against the wall, and one side was inaccessible, which took away spacing. Service was lovely space was really tight. Good thing some of the ladies didn't order full meals. Definitely wouldn't have been able to fit every plate.

While waiting for a table to open, we've watched the two women team making and grilling fresh tortillas. With expert precision, they made hundreds of tortillas as we watched. Our server was efficient took our our order and in a few minutes, we had sizzling fajitas at the table....With all of the anticipated queso, chips, salsa, and condiments for our fajitas. The flavor of our steak fajitas was excellent, after dinner Ninfa's offers a free shuttle bus to the baseball park. They drop you off and pick you up after the game. Unfortunately, Houston did not win, but we thoroughly enjoyed the meal before the game. If you're looking for traditional Mexican dinner, do not miss Ninfa's.

My husband felt like his ramen could have included more meat, but aside from that everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. The highlight was probably the desserts, though! It is a 16oz yeti. They do offer $10 refills anytime you bring the cup back 3. My husband drank a pacifico. Classic beer. They offered it in both bottle and in glass. 9/10. 4. Carafe mango mimosa - this served about 4 drinks total. It was very champagne forward with the tiniest amount of juice 7.5/10 APPETIZERS: 1. Housemade Bacon w/ Salsa Ranchera - in my opinion this was DELICIOUS. The salsa on this was amazinggg. This dish also comes with a side of authentic flour tortillas. 10/10 2. Bacon Burrito - the other couple ordered this and said they enjoyed it, we all expected it to be a lot bigger though 8/10 DESSERT: 1. Tres Leches - the jam on this wasnt my favorite. It was very overpowering. The cake itself was really good. Would order again with fresh strawberries, no jam 7.5/10 2. Banana Pudding Bunelo - its your typical bunelo with a small amount of banana cream filling, topped with homemade banana ice cream 7.5/10 3. Masa Pancake - I am not the biggest fan of pancakes so I didn't try it but the other couple enjoyed it OVERALL: 9/10 experience!!! Total for our portion (Hamachi, 2 drinks, salad, steak, chilaquiles, and tres leches) came out to a total of about $120. We Will definitely be coming back to try out their dinner menu. The flavors were impossibly punchy with well-balanced savory notes that were perfectly highlighted by the accompanying bubbly pairing. 5 courses in all, and all of it was delicious. Another highlight was the steak course and the heavenly chocolate dessert course, which was expertly paired with their take on an espresso martini. Chef's kiss! The restaurant is actually quite tiny, and I found it to be on the warm/muggy side, and it wasn't even that hot outside. Also, from a decor perspective, they could certainly use a "freshening up" though perhaps a newer larger location would be a better idea. Still, based solely on the food, my foodie friends and I agreed we would absolutely be back. Their Bibendum nod is well-deserved!

Our server was really nice and patient because my friend and I talked for about 30 minutes before we finally ordered our food. He has the beef enchiladas with rice and black beans. He cleaned his plate...literally not a grain of rice in sight! I had the smoked chicken verde enchiladas and WOW! What an amazing dish. I prefer traditional homemade Mexican food but here we are. (Oh I googled and suggested this place lol) Went in for a team lunch on a Friday. Coworker's birthday lunch and she wanted Mexican. Party of 9 and we were seated promptly. They have a lunch menu and a happy hour as well as a full menu and full bar. The interior was nicely decorated. And open. There were a variety of options. Salads, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Also complimentary chips and salsa. My Order: chicken tortilla soup, lunch fajitas combo - chicken and beef. Chicken tortilla soup (3.5/5) - it was a bit salty for me but I am not a salt person so most things are salty to me; everyone else said it was tasty, there were tons of shredded chicken, avocado pieces, tortilla strips Fajitas - combo (4/5) - chicken was seasoned well and the beef (medium rare) was perfection and so tender and juicy, mexican rice was fluffy, and normally I would pass on the beans and get extra rice but my coworker suggested the charro beans and wow, that was a win - the seasoning was great, there were chunks of meat and the texture was nice, the only thing that could have been done better is the flour tortillas - they over-charred them making them too crispy and left them with a burnt taste. A couple of people got the elote salad and raved about it. So that will be a next time try. Def will be back. Everyone enjoyed their meals and some even ordered food to go. Would recommend.
