Chilaquiles
Sandra K.

Cute little place we walked to from my friend's office. Yes there is parking but if they run out there's also neighborhood street parking. Gotta love Montrose for that. There's a small patio you can sit at but we opted for inside. My friend got the Jamaica and I got the limonada. Both pretty standard. She got the dinner portion of flautas and they were stuffed to the brim She was only able to eat two. I got the chilaquiles with fajita beef and ate all of it. For $8 to add fajita beef though it really wasn't a lot but it was still a tasty dish. Service was fast and prompt and our food came out hot which is a bonus in my book.

Straight to it the food was good the sushi over priced for the amount I wouldn't get it again , the mole and flautas were good everything served fresh and hot . If you don't like dark areas don't come here in the being its dark hard to seem menu for some . The service was quick and the ambiance calm. Not a wow place to eat but not bad to try once at least .

I came here with some friends. I was very impressed with the quality of the food. First off, they had mole, which I have found quite difficult to find in Mexican restaurants in the area. Specifically, their mole negro was amazing, and I would order it again in a heartbeat. I had my first mole almost a decade ago, and it was so good I learned about the history of it. Since then, I have been on the search to find good mole in Houston. After two years of searching, I finally found the place. It looks simple, but the complex flavors were there. Service was great and attentive . Ambiance was great for any date night or just to hang out In addition, I usually skip the rice and bean since I often just focused on the entree, but this place's rice and beans were on a different level. I was quite impressed with their rice and beans that I found myself wanting another serving of it. It was that good. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good Mexican place to eat because I will surely come back.

First time dining here on Valentines Day. The food, drinks, service and ambiance were top notch. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend the mole of you love mole!

Came here for a quick lunch before a meeting down in the meeting center. We were the first ones there that day and had the luck of the restaurant. Was able to take some photos with it empty. Which was nice. Greeted quickly, sat down fast, and ordered all within minutes. Everyone was friendly and service was prompt. The salsa and chips were very good! Got pastor tacos and loved the tortilla, the meat, and the salsa for them. Very good. Had a side of avocado that is usually expensive and not a lot of avocado but not here. You get a ton for the price. Priced nicely, beautiful restaurant, and good food. I'll come back.

I would definitely come here again! Food was fantastic and the vibes inside were also great. Our server was really nice and answered questions thoroughly. Will come again! It's a tad pricey so probably just for special occasions, though.

Enmolada - srsly you just ned to order this- amazing!

This is a Houston must. Interior is 10/10 a hit. Very classy. Outdoor seating as well. Service is absolutely top. Best in class. And the food. Let me just tell you. First they have drinks, and mocktail, for everyone. I had the Amante Picante and it delighted me not just with the presentation but also the flavor. They have a great selection of tequila and mezcal! We started with chips and salsa from the appetizer menu. Friends! I cannot tell you how happy I was to have a spicy salsa included. Usually they see my yt family and go too easy on us but they unapologetically included the full on heat and I was thrilled! Next came our entrees and everyone agreed: 5 stars! One companion ordered the fusion birria ramen and liked it well. My spouse ordered carnitas tacos and swooned on delicious. The other and I both ordered enmolada and just stop it! These were the deepest most richest mole and we were in love. Srsly these are show stoppers. I overate and had so much food regret. I did not leave room for dessert unfortunately. The rices and charro were even supreme. I could make a meal of them. Our one and only complaint- the portion sizes were too big. Legit. Check out or photos.

My husband and I went here for the first time and loved it. Such a cute quaint restaurant. We loved the music and the service. Oh and the food! So amazing! We enjoyed every part and highly recommend. Oh and yes, you must get Churros!

Rice & charro beans

Ok I have to start by saying one part was 5 stars and one part was not great. I started with a Bloody Mary and will say it was probably the worst I've ever had. I wasn't excited about the restaurant at that point but I stayed and I'm glad I did! I ordered the Enmoladas that came with Mexican rice and charro beans. I'm a Mole fanatic and if you have seen my previous reviews you know I've said twice that "this is the best Mole". Well this is the third time and I doubt I will say it again. This Mole was beyond amazing. It not only hit all the levels of a great Mole but it had a spicy note I've never had in a Mole before. The chicken in the enchiladas was also very good. The restaurant is small and very nice. Great ambience and excellent service. I'm giving it 5 stars even though that Bloody Mary was not good at all because everything else was amazing! Oh and that bad Bloody Mary was $12.00! I recommend you dine at this great restaurant but be careful ordering a cocktail. Maybe the margaritas are better. I will return for sure!

Trying a new spot in Midtown of Houston & I'm so glad I did!!! Maderas was an awesome place for date night, lunch, or celebrating a special occasion. We tried several dishes and none disappointed. Very authentic flavors, textures, and seasonings. The entrees and appetizers were Chicken Fajitas, Taquitos/flautas, Elote, & Chicken enchiladas. ALL were amazing!!! If you are feeling parched the adult beverages were slamming!!! The only thing that took some points off the score board was the parking; however, the service, the eats, and the venue as a whole made up for it. If you are visiting this part of Houston definitely stop by!!! I will be back... Enjoy!!!

Churros

The only bad thing I have to say is that the parking lot kind of sucks to get in and out of if you have a car that's low to the ground. Beyond that I can't say enough great things. I came in with a group of 3, we had a reservation so we didn't have to wait at all. The restaurant is such a vibe, the decor, and the lighting are dark and moody. We loved it! We started off with a few margaritas and the chile con queso. The margaritas were great and so was the queso. It was spicy and flavorful. For entrees I ordered birria tacos and I loved them! I'd definitely recommend them. My friends ordered the enmoladas and barbacoa tacos and they really enjoyed their meals. For dessert we had their churros, and they were DELICIOUS. I'd go back just for the churros!! Honestly this is a great option for Mexican food. I would 1000% recommend it.

We walked in a for some drinks after work around 5:30 pm on a Tuesday, and the restaurant was completely empty. We were greeted quickly and were sat immediately. We started off with drinks, and the cocktails are tasty and have a good amount of alcohol in it for the price. The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, however, I gave it three stars because the food was just lacking. The tortillas were amazing, fresh and hot, but everything else was typical Mexican food you can get at any restaurant for cheaper. Overall, I just don't feel like the price I paid was worth the food we got. We ended up paying 50 dollars for one entree and one cocktail. Overall, would come back for drinks, but maybe skip out on the food.

Is this place Kid friendly?

It's a nicer type place - kids are not unwelcome but I don't think they have a kids menu - this isn't ur typical Tex-Mex joint.

First, the vibe. It is warm, stylish, and very Montrose in the best way. It feels elevated but still relaxed enough to just sit, talk, and enjoy your time without feeling rushed. We came during happy hour and it was such a great deal. I ordered the Sweet Like Peach Tree, which was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced with the peach and ginger. My husband got the Frozen Paloma and it was just as good, super smooth with the right citrus bite. We also shared the churros and they were honestly a must order. Warm, crispy, and paired with Nutella and caramel. What really made the experience stand out though was our bartender, Manny. He was incredibly welcoming from the moment we sat down, had such a great personality, and made the whole experience feel personal. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that kind of service is hard to find. He also told us about their upcoming two year anniversary party on May 3rd with rotating live DJs, which sounds like it will be such a fun time. We will definitely be back. Between the drinks, the atmosphere, and the service, this place really gets it right.

It's a little small inside and a small parking lot, but if you're lucky and can walk there, do! The quality of the drinks are really excellent and the burgers have been voted some of the best in town! I can't speak for them, but the drinks and the spot, are phenomenal. They have bingo nights, dj nights, and other themed events that keep the place packed out. Maybe once I try the burgers, it'll be 5 stars, but the smallll parking lot and lack of safe street parking keep me at 4.

Considering the recent shutter of other places (#2) within the hospitality umbrella, it's not too big of a surprise that Wooster's would also be in the crosshairs. The space was always a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, which combined with its dedicated parking lot made this an easy drinking outlet for all kinds of occasions. The intimate indoor space was lovely and well ventilated, and it felt like there wasn't ever a moment where the bar wasn't slammed. The outdoor space was much of the same, with lots of tables and chairs, and even the trendy swing chairs facing the city. The only thing that was a little bit of a liability were those open flame heaters; it would only take on person to accidentally walk into one or trip onto it. For libations, the drinks were well priced, well made, and always potent. I appreciated the aesthetics, as well as the bartenders who made them. The only part that wasn't exciting was the limited food menu, which did its part as munchies for the drink heavy crowd, but was mediocre otherwise. The space is already undergoing the new facelift of a separate concept, one of which I hope will do the area justice, just as much as Wooster's did. ____________ (#1) The Kirby Group. (#2) R.I.P. I asked for something tropical and not too sweet. It was pretty good but not as complex as the catch 22. My husband liked the jaded merchant better than the dew drop. You are drawn, the way one is drawn to a place that promises honesty with a wink. It wears the posture of a dive but carries itself with intention, a little bohem, a little defiant, and entirely comfortable in its own skin. The bar hums with craft. Cocktails arrive balanced and deliberate, built by hands that understand restraint as much as flair. Nothing shouts. Nothing apologizes. Each glass feels considered, as though the bartender paused just long enough to ask what kind of night you were hoping to have, then answered without speaking. The staff moves easily, quick with wit and generous with attention, treating regulars and first-timers as if both had already earned their place. The decor tells its own quiet rebellion. Mismatched, layered, worn just enough to feel lived in, it carries the sense that stories have been told here and will be told again. And then there are the bathrooms, unisex and unashamed, their walls papered with vintage Playboy centerfolds that celebrate the female form not as spectacle but as art. Tasteful, sexy, unapologetic. A reminder that admiration can exist without crudeness, that beauty does not need permission to be acknowledged. The Two Headed Dog is less a bar than a posture toward the world. It resists neat categories. Not quite dive, not quite cocktail lounge, not quite anything else that could be reduced to a label. It is a place for those who appreciate craft without pretension, sensuality without excess, and atmosphere without artifice. In a city that thrives on reinvention, this bar stands firm, confident enough to be exactly what it is and nothing more.

I went because this was the only bar open during Labor Day when I had guest visiting. So I would say it's a pretty nice location, considering the fact that it is always consistently open. They had a good menu with different cocktails that were fun and fruity. Otherwise, I did also see people could order coffee at the bar and have different espresso drinks. It looks like the drink that I ordered is also no longer on the menu. The bar prides itself on having a rotating meal changing menu so I think that's a lot of fun when it comes to trying new drinks and new combinations and it truly shows the artistry of the bartender. There was the option of both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was more of a dimmer, elegant and darker tone. I can see it being pretty classic if you were to go at night time. The bar set up was really beautiful and they had different 2 to 4 seating wooden tables. Overall, the inside would probably only fit around 20 people. I was very sad because we couldn't sit outside. The day before it had rained so every outdoor seating was wet. But I was told that they had a beautiful seating outside with a garden and a pool. Service was good. The bartender came out of the bar to take orders, give menus and give you the check. I will say that it got really busy at the end and it took a while to get our check. There's only one or two bartenders working at one time so if there's multiple people with different drinks that are ordered, it will take a little bit longer. Service (3/5): While we had a waitress, she was slow to greet us and slow to check up on us. It's a small bar and there isn't a ton of seating so it's not like she was overwhelmed. For a fancy hotel, you expect better. Maybe sitting at the bar is better than sitting at some seats as we did. Ambiance (4/5): The Colombe d'Or is a beautiful hotel and Bar No. 3 reflects that. It's an elegant spot to grab a drink, although small. Food (N/A): While there are expensive items on the menu, I had dinner earlier that night so I was on a liquid diet. Drinks (3/5): Bar No. 3 is known for its cocktails so I focused on the cocktail list. The list isn't large but it features a nice selection. Like the food, you're going to pay a premium. I enjoyed my adult beverage but felt like it was a bit overpriced. Hitting up hotel bars isn't a common occurrence in Houston unless you're a traveler.
