The oyster happy hour is dailly open 'til 6pm with select $1.50 oysters (usually three to four varieties to choose from). If you're planning a larger party, I recommend making a reservation. The pancakes here are simply incredible. They're incredibly fluffy and flavorful, and I've never had anything quite like them in Houston. The oysters were also exceptionally fresh and delicious. This is important for non-drinkers because there are no mocktails on the drink menu, but the bartender will craft something you will like. Caviar Tater Tots - 6/10: Well done -- they literally whipped the potato on the inside -- but at $37, you are paying more for the caviar, which was missing that fresh, creamy saltiness you normally seek. You also only get 4 tots. I would just get two orders of the crab hushpuppies. Mains: Chicken - 10/10: The truffle sauce was dreamy, and I think they could sell it on the streets. Wow! I'm not sure what I expected when booking a resy for brunch on a Sunday at State of Grace, but it completely exceeded my expectations. Extremely kind service from the hosts through the entire team. The best balance of conversational and storytelling without being overbearing. We never felt rushed and they made the experience feel personal, and felt we truly got to know the restaurant and reasoning behind a few of the dishes just through their excitement. We ordered coffees along with the crab hush puppies, gumbo, avocado toast, and ended with their massive cinnamon roll. It was the perfect spread and everything was so flavorful! (My only critique was I wish the cinnamon roll was warmed up and served with a bit more icing). The interior was fabulous with an amazing aroma. Went here during the lunch happy hour. They have valet parking. The parking lot is small so it would be hard to find parking especially on a busy night. The staff was exceptional here. I really liked the waitress we got. She was knowledgeable and actually enjoys eating the food here too. She was very attentive and noticed me wiping my hands on the napkin after eating some finger foods and offered wet cloths. She also made sure the table was clean from bread crumbs. The complimentary bread isn't the best here it's really hard and prefer more of the soft fresh bread. The inside is soft but the outside was very hard. I tried a bunch of oysters and my favorite was the isla d. You get a bunch of different dipping sauces as well-cocktail, Louisiana hot sauce, vinegar like dip, and spicy Asian oriented sauce. I enjoyed the spicy sauce and the louisana sauce with the oysters. They were small but they went down easy. Well, I've made State of Grace one of my regular spots in Htown for good reason. I would unapologetically state that I am picky. I know what I like and I reward a business for following through time after time. SOG does this. If you're looking for a night out where you want to dress well, mingle with the right crowd, and eat/drink well in a sophisticated dim lit environment, this is your place. You will need to fork over some $$$, but that comes with the territory. My go to's are a caesar and blackened redfish (sauce on the side). If you want a lighter salad, I recommend the maison. The caesar is made in the open, and I have a long standing joke about who makes it the best (bartenders and servers make it). Shoutout to Parwaan (mgt) who makes the best caesar salad in town, and great service to boot. Also, Austin at the bar who consistently makes the best cocktails, even custom requests (aka "frenchie" martini per request). Houston restaurant experts, please convince me I'm wrong. If you want to be more indulgent, the DINNER burger (no bun) w/ fries is an excellent choice. When I eat red meat, I like going to a place that knows how to cook it properly. I get my burger pittsburgh (look it up if you don't know) medium. Their fries are among the best in Houston along with Bludorn. They taste great with the sauce it comes with but I would also mix ketchup w/ their house made hot sauce for a hot tang. Their shrimp cocktail is a good value if you're wanting to keep things light. Finally, I'm not a big dessert guy by choice bc I prefer to drink Parillas. But, I've had some of the best desserts (if not THE best) here between the souffle and chocolate sundae brownie. Okay yes! If there's one thing I love? It's a good brunch! Andd our waiter was clutch! My friend and I visited SOG for brunch, to start the interior design is cuteee. Any who I ordered pancakes 20/10, a side salad and and omg was it good. But the star truly were thee pancakes they were absolute perfection. Secondly the salad had the perfect mix of complementary ingredients. Lastly I ordered the mining beignets whew were they tasty. My levies. Of course I ordered a espresso martini and it too was excellent. I also ordered a which hit and was a little more elevated coffee drink! Additionally our waiter was excellent, he really guided our decision making with what to order and made great suggestions as well provided a modification to make my side salad hit! Heard of State of Grace through instagram. What interested me was the pancakes in the influencer's video...i didn't check the menu before so I dragged my friends to this restaurant with selfish intentions (LOL) There is Valet parking in front of the restaurant that is tip based which is awesome! We came on a Sunday around 1/2ish and it was not too busy inside. This restaurant is so beautiful! After being seated and viewing the brunch menu I found what it is I came for!...What we learned is that the menu is small and a bit limited. Our waitress helped my friends decide on what to get! Our food and appetizer came out at the same time which did not take long to come out after ordering. The pancakes, or on the menu they are called Griddle Cakes, were phenomenal!!! The buttery, sweet syrup... *chefs kiss* we all enjoyed our meals. My friend who got the Lobster Roll said they wished it was just a bigger portion. I came here for happy hour. The happy hour is limited to oysters but I happen to think the small plates and cocktails aren't pricey at full price and represent good value considering the location, quality of ingredients and service. I had these butter burger sliders. They're not on the menu yet. They were outstanding. Some of the best sliders ive ever had. They had an 1803 cocktail a cross between an old fashioned and a Manhattan. Outstanding. Very well crafted. The deviled eggs were excellent too.
