I've been to travelers cart several times. I've actually only visited traveler's table for cocktails and to go food. I actually did an in person visit this time for dinner on Sunday. Just a note they close at 2:30 and reopen again at five for dinner service...some of the brunch items like the crab samosas and the oxtail empanadas are on both menus (dinner and brunch) The crab samosas are amazing. I wish I had more even at this moment. Everyone is always so welcoming and helpful here....Everyone but the rude ass valet drivers outside. I mentioned to my dining mate who arrived before me how rude the guys were. He told me that he got into it with them also and another person almost got into a fight with them Having a nasty attitude and expecting a tip for a free service is crazy to me. My husband and I came here for a much-needed date night. We've been to their sister restaurant a few times before and is our first time here at their upscale one. We had a wonderful waiter and gave us a lot of recommendation. But the treatment kind of fell off towards the end when he was held up by a huge party for a good while to the point where we changed our mind about desserts and after dinner drinks and had to go. The cocktail "come and take it" was balance and flavorful. The crab samosa is a hit. It is crammed with crab stuffing. It is amazing and you get two different kind of dipping sauce with it, Tartar and butter. This was the first that any restaurant has ever done for us, but they actually split our soup in half for us so what's pictured is the half the soup. The duck pad Thai was amazing!!! I wish I had that instead. I had the Caribbean braised oxtail. I wasn't a big fan. I felt like I was tasting more of the sauce and carbs. I asked for the mango and spices on the side. The mango was a nice plate cleanser in between bites. The ambience was really nice , definitely upscale compared to their Travis's Carr location and something that you should dress up for. Complementary valet parking is nice, the lot is small so if everyone had to park themselves it would be hard. Good sized eating area, with a small bar section maybe 8-10 people. The drink and food menu has a alot of selections. Started with the come and take it cocktail and espresso martini. The come and take it was nice cause it wasn't harsh but a little sweet. The espresso was a lighter version more of a flavored coffee than a strong coffee taste. We got the butter chicken, crab fried rice and the ribs. The butter chicken was bomb I heard and the ribs were flavorful and moist. The crab fried rice was a huge portion, soft shell crab was fried perfect and the egg topped was a nice touch. The old fashioned try is legit, pretty much get 3 full old fashioned for the price of 2. Overall wish we tried some apps but definitely somewhere I would go back. read more

I love the whole thing of travelers's table. I've been there twice now and it never disappoints. It's a great spot for brunch. The party I was with was vegetarian, and we split the meals together. We ordered lamb shaksuka and substituted the lamb with tofu. It was super flavorful and served with bread. Inside the shaksuka, there was a boiled egg, crumbed cheese, and cherry tomatoes topped with parsley. For those of you who have never tried this, think of a flavorful tomato soup, that you split over bread. We had also ordered the Ube pancakes, and the Ube pancakes were really famous for this location. I feel like I see online all the time showcasing these pancakes. There was a citrus, whipped cream, with fruit, Boba pearls and a caramel sauce drizzle. My only complaint about the pancakes were that they were dry without the drizzle. I wish that there was more moisture inside, overall the flavors were really balanced. They offer many drinks - alcoholic, mocktails as well as lattes. There's a versatile drink menu. Service was fast, and our waitress consistently checked up on us. The interior of the restaurant was also very fun and modern with glass panels for natural lighting. I would recommend you make a reservation online on the weekend because it gets very packed. When you pull up on the street, the lot is very small. There is valet parking offered, but remember to carry some cash with you. The valet is very friendly, and they handle everything pretty fast in the parking lot. But, if you don't want to use valet, there are more locations for street parking in the Westheimer neighborhoods. Gonna start off with the one single solitary bad, and then move on to all the good. Bad - valet was kinda rude. I wasn't aware it was only valet parking in their parking lot so I pulled in and parked. A few minutes passed and a guy walked over and knocked on my window and told me this was valet only. We are both vegetarian and they have adequate veg options. I started with the watermelon lemonade and then eventually got a jasmine tea. We got the corn soup and the grilled bread and cheese plate as an appetizer (apologies I don't remember the exact name off the top of my head). For our entrees, both my husband and I got a Latin America dish. It was a pepper with cashew cream and quinoa, a chimichurrin sauce, etc. it was FANTASTIC. They don't skimp on the veg plates and I really appreciate that! Especially when a place isn't entirely only plant based focused. This place really take pride in their food and it shows. I watched a chef plate a meal (from my seat, I could see the kitchen) and he was so locked in and meticulous about it. We were checked up on constantly, our waters never ran out, and our waitress was so cool and down to earth. We tipped her well. It was a decent experience for a dear friend's birthday. 4 of us dined on the patio. The service was pretty good but not great. My water was never refilled but he did bring out food quickly. We ordered the provoletta cheese appetizer which was tasty. Imagine melted provolone cheese with peppers and a dollop of pesto. It was served with toasted bread. I'd get it again. The hummus with brisket. The hummus was good and the brisket was good. It was a good shareable appetizer. The snapper ponchatrain was delicious. I wish it was a larger potion of fish. I would order this again. The blue crab carbonara was delicious and decadent with si egg yolk mixed in. I would get this again too. The truffles flatbread was meh. I didn't care for it. I had an upcoming flight so I brought my luggage and they were able to hold on to it for me while I enjoyed my meal. Their menu has a good amount options to pick from. It starts with the unique "ski lodge" type of architecture on the outside, and tasteful travel inspired decor on the inside. Service was great, and you could tell the servers enjoy working there. The food is also travel inspired, and there really is something for everyone on the menu. I believe this would be a great place to bring a group, and everyone could order plates from "around the world" and share the choices. We did brunch, and the drinks were complex and unique flavors, and my meal was jerk chicken and waffles, which I have never seen that particular combo anywhere else but here. The waffles were light and fluffy, the butter had a welcome hint of sweet, and the jerk chicken was spicy, but in a warm spicy way, and not a painful hot way. I enjoyed the culture and the art displays on the wall or hanging, very nice! I've been hearing all about thus place all these years and I am just trying it. He took amazing care of us, and made our experience that much more enjoyable. He suggested I try the Snapper on a bed of greens and red beans/rice which was "chef's kiss"! Absolute perfection. Served with the lightly crisped plantain that tasted like mashed potato...omg!! My friend enjoyed their short ribs and couldn't stop raving about it (I had a bite, I can see what the raving was all about. Tender and tasty). I was also recommended their award winning Flor de Amor cocktail, my friend had their bourbon flight. For dessert, Mexican Chocolate Cake. Listen! This was more than a meal, it was an experience! He made great recommendations and ensured everything came out perfectly timed. I ordered the Louisiana fried chicken, and wow crispy on the outside, juicy and packed with bold Southern flavor on the inside. The seasoning was spot on and the crunch was everything you want in fried chicken. My wife had the crawfish and grits, which were rich, creamy, and loaded with flavor. The crawfish was fresh and tender, and the grits were smooth and comforting without feeling too heavy. We also split the Japanese mushroom toast with shiitake peppers and smoked salmonand this dish was next level. The parking lot is a pain in the butt but they have complimentary valet. we started out with some Drinks- I had a sunny place for shady people- I really liked the coconut cream and cinnamon flavors in this. Apps we had Argentinian provoleta (they didn't have pao de queijo that day) it was basically grilled cheese but with lots of flavor- a group favorite! I tried the crab samosas as well- they were OK if you like crab but our group was not big seafood fans. We all tried a bit of each others foods. The butter chicken is not the best one I've had it's a little too lemony for my liking. The dish I ordered was the Nigerian skewers- I reallyyyyy enjoyed these and would 100% order this again. Started with three apps. First was Hawaiian Mochiko Chicken which was fine, fried chicken, but the sauce was delish. Next, the Japanese Kaki Fried Oysters which were pretty tasty, not fishy at all! Third was the Salmon Tartare which was my favorite. So fresh and delicious, a fun small perfect bite. For the main I got Nigerian Suya Skewers which were fireeee. So tender and had a great marinade / spice to it. The two sauces on the side were equally as fire. For dessert we split the Black Sesame Lava Cake with Ube Ice Cream and this was so yum. We had to wait a few minutes but not super long for a table. Austin was our server and he was amazing and super attentive. I wish there were more vegetarian entree options, because I wasn't a fan of the one option available. I enjoyed the fries with the sauce. The dumplings were just alright in my opinion. FINALLY checked out traveler's table and it was good, but didn't quite live up to the expectations, I'd give 3.5 stars if I could. We went for brunch and tried a variety of food and drink options and oddly enough the drinks were the star. We really liked the Hurricane mimosa, Our man in Havana, and the brunch shot flight. For apps, the mini lobster rolls were quite tasty and the guava empanadas were good but needed more filling. The best entree was definitely the fried chicken and waffles. Ube pancakes were honestly a bit dry and my Italian eggs Benedict was more sautéed spinach than anything else. Our waiter was very friendly but service was quite slow and we had to ask for the wine list three times before receiving it. They were pretty busy and the manager even came over to help at one point, which was appreciated. It was also SO hot in the restaurant. I decided to try something new I got the Blue Crab Carbonara pasta . It was really delicious I normally get the Adobo snapper which is also really good. My friend got the crab fried rice I loved the way they plated it. Everyone enjoyed their food we will definitely be back. We celebrated our birthdays with a Saturday night date at Traveler's Table and ended up sharing a bunch of small plates, which turned out to be the perfect way to experience the menu. The Salmon Tartare Bites were one of the highlights. The salmon was super fresh and the crispy rice cakes were a bit overcooked otherwise I would have gave a higher rating. The avocado and mango balanced everything out with a little sweetness, so every bite had great texture and flavor. The Singaporean Soft Shell Chili Crab was easily the most fun dish of the night. The crab was perfectly crispy and the sweet chili-tomato sauce had a great depth to it. Using the fried bao buns to soak up the sauce made it even better. The Miniature New England Lobster Rolls were simple but done really well. The lobster tasted fresh and buttery, and the brioche rolls were soft with just enough richness without overpowering the seafood. We also loved the Shiitake Edamame Dumplings. They were packed with flavor from the garlic, ginger, and chili crisp, and the mix of mushrooms and edamame made them feel hearty without being heavy. For drinks, the Traveler's Espresso Martini was smooth with a strong espresso kick and just enough sweetness to make it feel like a dessert cocktail. The Old Fashioned Experience was also great, especially if you like trying different spins on a classic. Each version had its own personality, but they were all well balanced and easy to sip. I went here tonight for the first time and can say both positive and negative experiences on it. I will say the positive first. I ordered the Jerk Chicken Meal and really enjoyed it. It was very delicious, juicy, tender to almost coming off the bone, seasoned real well with very good spices. Thankfully I did on my first ever time coming here. Soon as I arrive, the valet guy just looked at me weird and blank without saying anything to where I had to kind of show him where my keys were to break the awkwardness of that encounter. The other valet guy as I was leaving was not friendly at all either. Both acted like dicks and never once greeted or said goodbye, which came off as rude and unprofessional. They acted as if I owed them something both coming and leaving. The hostess acted kind of hesitant when I wanted a table for one. Personally imo, it can be seen offensive to offer someone a bar seat instead of a couple small available 2-seat tables when initially replying to the customer. That is unless there is a couple right in front of me, behind me or if the tables are reserved. She offered it after I pushed for it some. It's always possible I may have misread the intention, bc I'm not a mind-reader. Then again, I also work in a restaurant myself to have different assumptions many might not pay attention to. Just a note; offer the small table AND a bar seat if u can, but never just the bar seat at first bc that feels discriminatory like they don't want them with the main population. I don't personally apply this little rule to four or more 4 seat tables left though. Bottom line; the actual eating dine-in aspect itself was awesome, but the rest around it definitely needs improvement. read more

I was excited to try this place on my recent trip to Houston. I attended for their weekend brunch. The overall experience was okay but I was not impressed with the food. I got the breakfast board which came with grits, eggs, bacon, a guava empanada, and fruit. Everything was pretty good but the plate was $25. I found it to be expensive for the amount of food. The side of fruit was not enough even for a child to feel full. My mom got crab samosas and the grits on the side. The crab samosas were not very good either. We both gave them a 5/10 respectively. The highlight of the meal were the grits and bacon. I wouldn't recommend this place. Also keep in mind they have valet parking on site, you cannot park your car on your own. We were seated in the back booths for the first time and it was very cozy while we were the only ones there. We went to try some new food items that got added to the menu and they were very good. The oxtail empanadas are filled with meat and not too cheesy. The crab cake is full of lump meat and not a lot of filler. The sauce it comes with is creamy and delicious. The Thai crying tiger steak is also good. The crispy coconut rice is not too sweet and it pairs well with the egg and spicy sauce that they put on the side. I've been meaning to come to this place for years and it did not disappoint. Everything from the curated, eclectic wall art, to the impeccable service (s/o to Alejandro who was super attentive, kind and just downright amazing) and delicious bites makes me want to come back again and again. I think Alejandro may actually have been the highlight of our brunch: he paid attention to our meals, to the point that I didn't even have to mention the incorrect coffee order brought to my table and had a freshly made latte brought within minutes of it hitting my table. Wow, loved this place! For 1, they offer complimentary valet! Idk how the parking would work otherwise. Staff very nice. Open kitchen concept, so you can see everything. Bathroom was to be desired. Small, two stalls, and one sink. Food was fantastic, everything was seasoned well, but mingled at the same time. Good portion size for the price point. Travelers Table made our Valentine's brunch absolutely unforgettable. From the moment the dishes hit the table, we knew we were in for something special. The chef ‍ truly has a gift. Every plate looked like a piece of art. The Japanese Mushroom Toast was flavorful and beautifully composed, and the salmon shaped like roses was such a stunning and thoughtful touch. You almost don't want to disturb it because it's that pretty. The Louisiana Fried Chicken was seasoned to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender inside. The crawfish and grits were rich, tasty, and packed with bites of sausage that brought everything together. Adian provided excellent, courteous service and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the entire meal. We chose to sit outside, and the overcast Houston weather made it the perfect setting for a relaxed, romantic brunch. Traveler's Table is a fine dining type of experience, so save up that piggybank and be prepared to expect small portions for the price. Valet parking, quality dishes from all around the world, and helpful staff. Most dishes were a hit, but a couple were misses. My favorites were the mexican street corn soup and crab samosas. The mexican street corn soup has an amazing infusion of smokiness to it that I didn't expect but absolutely loved. The crab samosas hit the spot for a savory seafood dish with a light crispy shell. My least favorites were the mango chocoflan and nigerian suya skewers. The mango chocoflan, was too sweet and dense. The skewers were honestly a bit dry. The presentation of each dish was beautiful though. Recommend making reservations as this place can get quite busy. read more
