Wow! Wow! Wow! I am super excited about my experience! I attended a meeting at the Zion stairs, and decided to stop for dinner. Let me tell you! The good and drinks were amazing!!! My server Amanda provided excellent advice and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Even though it appears several events were happening at the same time, Amanda consistently made sure we were taken care of. An added bonus was talking with Michael the manager, who provided more information on dishes, the chef and was very personable. The ambiance feels lounge like to me. I could easily sit and chill, or work a bit if I wanted to. Music selections were nice when I could hear them, over the event energy. I wasn't bothered I had a great time. Now the food!!! Lord!!! Everything I tasted was really good!!! My margarita, my empanada appetizer, to my carnitas entree and dessert (I chose the bread pudding, but my sister tried the date cake dessert, Baby! I'll take the cake. I didn't think I'd like the date thing, but it was excellent!!! Bread pudding after that was meh...‍ Also not parking up to three hours is free. My mom and I discovered this place through Houston Restaurant Weeks and were intrigued by the $39 dinner menu, especially since there were plenty of options for each course with no upcharges. The restaurant is beautiful, our waiter was friendly, and it was quite busy, so I recommend making a reservation. We started with the Ceviche Mixto and Chicken Chicharrones, which were both mediocre. The chicken was extremely dry and chewy, while the tamarind sweet and sour and hot BBQ mustard lacked flavor. The ceviche was also overwhelmed by the sweet potato and coconut flavors, to the point where the fried plantain chips were honestly the best part. The mains were slightly better. The Smoked Lamb Lollichops were cooked well and generously portioned, but extremely oily and heavy. The Redfish Half-Shell was more successful, especially with the delicious mole pipian and beurre blanc, although both the shrimp and redfish were overcooked. Dessert was easily the highlight. The Tequila Bread Pudding was good, although I barely tasted the tequila. The Sticky Toffee Pudding had an unusual muffin-like texture, but the brown butter toffee sauce was delicious enough to make up for it. Overall, the food was decent but not impressive enough to justify the regular prices. Tried The Lymbar for the first time during Houston Restaurant Week and I'm so glad that I did! The dishes were ALL exceptional! The ta-cones were delicious and super unique. The outside tasted like a wonton crisp. The lobster twinkies were amazing too! The steak sandwich and the almond olive oil were both great too! The Ion seems to be a hidden spot but houses some great eats, Lymbar being among the various restaurants here. It has a nice, upscale-lite atmosphere and seems like a nice after work happy hour spot (which is what my party came for). The staff at the restaurant were all very nice and polite. They let me sit at a fairly large table while I waited for the rest of my party to arrive. The tables were fun and I enjoyed the velvet covered seating. It was a nice, quiet spot to grab some drinks, food, and catch up! Foodwise, I got the ceviche tostado and really enjoyed it. It had nice chunks of fresh seafood, well seasoned with the lime and a very crisp/crunchy tostado. I can't recall which drinks I ended up having but do know I enjoyed them both and thought they were well balanced and not overly sweet. The only downside was that prices were a bit high for relatively small portions, even during happy hour. However, if you're oooking for a splurge, I do think it s worth it to check out Lymbar and have a treat yourself moment. read more

Oh, loved this place. Stopped in on a whim waiting for some friends for an event. They just changed their HH menu that day! They were super accommodating. The floor to ceiling windows and the velvet chairs, the piano make for a beautiful atmosphere. You don't nearly think you're right in the center of it all. I ordered the bees knees, chicken chicharrones to start and then it became girl dinner. i ordered the broccolini on the side and the potato wedges as well. and for desert alfajores! (this was actually why i decided on this restaurant instead of the other 2 in the building). The bees knees was stellar! i'd order it again and again! All my food selections were great! The wedges were fuller than i thought they would be but they were so good. The Alfajores were tinier than i thought they would be and they were not quite like the ones i have traveling but a good substitute if you can't get to the original. I think they're in a period of transition- they still had the HRW menus and there was no happy hour available, but they're supposed to roll out HH again soon. The midtown sunset drink was tasty! For an app we got dish with mixed calamari, shrimp, and brussel sprouts so the rice flour- very crunchy! And savory. Came back for round 2! The menu has changed a bit since last year, but what I really liked is that the entire menu they presented in the restaurant was basically HRW. If you wanted something outside of it, it was priced separately- so essentially, the whole menu was HRW if that makes sense. We started with the deviled wings (2/5), shrimp aguachile (5/5), and shrimp & sherry empanada (4/5). The wings were crispy but extremely oily- kind of overbearing with the grease. The aguachile, though, was zesty, refreshing, and had a perfect kick to it- LOVE. The cilantro cream with the empanada was such a good pairing with the shrimp/sherry combo, but the portion was tiny. For our entrées, we tried the arroz paella (5/5), whole roasted prime rib (4/5), and filete en mole verde (4/5). Not sure if it's traditional to top paella with fried calamari, but I loved it! The beurre blanc sauce was so good- I wanted more of it. The prime rib was perfectly cooked and simple. The only letdown was the rosemary wedge fries... there was zero rosemary flavor, and they definitely needed more seasoning. For dessert, we went with the tres leches, alfajores, and dark chocolate torte. All were amazing, but the torte was next-level rich, and the Cajeta cream with it was incredible. Service was solid- we were checked on and helped when needed. The only downside (and honestly kind of a big one considering the type of restaurant) was that we were served our drinks in plastic cups because they ran out of glassware. I had high hopes for this place and it just didn't live up to my expectations. The paella was good but I felt it was lacking some flavors it was more creamy than anything. The squid and shrimp in the rice was salty. The lamb chops were tough, the rice that it came with was cold hard and dry and the lamb didn't have much flavor at all. Our server recommended the rosepud, but it came out cold like it's been sitting and I felt the potato was over cooked leaving a burnt taste in my mouth. We visited The Lymbar for HRW and were impressed by the $39 three course menu! I felt like it was an incredible value for the quality and ambiance. I started with the hummus, which was fresh and flavorful, though the bread was a little chewy. It was followed by the prime rib which tender and well-seasoned. Food: I placed an order of 12 different lunches for my colleagues and board members. I had the Pepito Steak Sandwich and Garlic Potato Wedges and OMG, it was beyond what I could've imagined. The steak was well seasoned, tender, cooked to perfection, and served with yummy garlic potato wedges. Everyone was impressed and beyond pleased with their food orders. I ate half of my meal at The Ion and saved the other half for dinner. It was so satisfying. Service: I walked in and was not immediately greeted by several of the people behind the front bar. I greeted them several times before I received a response. All of a sudden, out of nowhere this beautiful and jovial young lady came up to me and welcomed me with an amazing smile. I immediately forgot all about the others, lol. Alyssa quickly took control as I handed her my 'list' of everyone's order. She asked me a couple of questions before heading to the back. When Alyssa returned, she offered me a drink, water, etc. and I happily opted for a Topo-Chico. She walked around the kitchen staff checking on our orders and quickly began labeling each plate as I requested. Each interaction with Alyssa was exchanged with an authentic smile. Every business needs an ALYSSA THANK YOU!!! Additionally, a server (so sorry I forgot his name) who was professional and provided quality customer service checked on me continuously. Between him and Alyssa, my wait time seemed to have been reduced drastically. It was truly a pleasant experience. Atmosphere: The setting was classy, well manicured, and inviting. I will definitely be visiting again in the near future. My only advice is for management to coach the gentlemen and lady working in the section upon entry on the left-hand side. It's pretty important to greet patrons as soon as they step foot into an establishment. Although they didn't immediately speak to me, they were speaking amongst each other in Spanish. When service finally came it was friendly. Most of the items were just ok. If for some reason I somehow end up back here I would get the poblano soup, fritto misto, and the pollo encamisado. All the desserts were pretty good too (it's the cordua recipe tres leches so that's also a win). Sticky toffee pudding had a good sweet flavor but the texture was dry on the inside. Overall disappointed So we came here awhile back at a Yelp elite event at The Ion. The restaurant had a great esthetic and the menu looked really good as well. I had been planning to come back for a while. We came in on a Friday night. I made a reservation in advance. When we arrived the place was at least half empty. They asked if we had a reservation and quickly moved us into a room to the side. I wanted to eat in the main dining area but instead we were tucked off in the corner room. Service was decent, not great. Others were getting seated in the area we were in and asked if they could eat in the main dining area but were told all those available seats (half the dining room) were reserved. No one sitting in them when we arrived nor when we left. The food: Started with the churrasco bites. They come with chimmichuri and a brandy peppercorn sauce. The sauce was amateur hour. Tasted overly creamy with no peppercorn whatsoever. The steak was under seasoned and desperately needed salt. The chimmi was solid and well salted which would have made up for the lack of salt on the steak but there wasn't enough of it on the plate to add to each bite. The steak was cooked just past medium (so to me, overcooked). They didn't ask how we would like it cooked either. Next we had the Arroz Paella W/ achiote shrimp, seared dry scallop, spanish chorizo, saffron garlic rice, beurre blanc. The shrimp were good, the scallops were basic and not memorable and the rice was too wet and the beurre blanc made it oddly creamy. I like the saffron in the rice but with no crispy bottom the rice was underwhelming. We also had the smoked lamb lollichops which had a chipotle chili glaze, chimichurri, quinoa tabbouleh, cucumber. Again, way under seasoned and overcooked. They didn't ask how we wanted it cooked either. These came out well done. That made them chewy and not pull off the bone. The smoke was excessive and I like smoked meat but when it's the only flavor the dish becomes boring and bland. The quinoa underneath was light and refreshing however. For sides we went with garlic rosemary fries which had neither garlic nor rosemary. They were just lightly salted and huge wedges. We also had the Brussels sprouts which were good and had a balsamic glaze on them. Pretty typical but good. We ordered 4 drinks. I had an old fashioned which was basic at best and a boulevardier. They offered to smoke the old fashioned for the table next to us. I wasn't given that option. My wife had the Red lipstick w/ mezcal, hibiscus and lime- it was great. She also had the mezcal Rita and enjoyed it as well. Overall, I wouldn't go back nor recommend the restaurant. At this price point most comparable restaurants blow this away in taste and service. I would give it 2.5 if half stars were an option on Yelp. Valet is complementary which is always a nice touch. read more

Ya know. This place was a bit disappointing. This was my return to this restaurant post trialing their food earlier in the year at an event. Its a cute intimate setting with a diversity of seating options and a bar. It has dim lighting which can set the mood if you like. The cuisine here is Mediterranean/ Latin inspired I believe. We ordered 2 appetizers the hummus and the plantains. Nice presentation but generally underwhelming. The quac that came with the plantains was bland uninspiring. The hummus tasted peculiar to me. I ordered the salmon veracruz, I like the crusty top but it didn't have much flavor to it. My friend ordered the beef ravioli unremarkable and I ordered the Brussel Sprouts salad, eeh I didn't like it at all. I also ordered a carajillo my new fav drink andddd it was midddd. I've visited The Lymbar three times so far -- all in the same month! Each time has been such a memorable experience. The staff is incredibly helpful, understanding, and attentive. Special love to the Chef -- my goodness! This has quickly become my favorite spot to study and enjoy high-quality, healthy food that truly fuels me. Recently, I attended a Yelp Elite event as a plus one, and one of the featured restaurants was The Lymbar. The ambiance was gorgeous plus the servers were attentive and friendly. Here are my thoughts about each thing we ordered. Parillada Mixta: 3/5 I think it's nice as a concept but some of the items on it left much to be desired. I didn't enjoy the vermicelli rice (grains too long...I found out this is noodle rice), tortillas (too much flour and too thick), and the steak (way too much fat). The stand out was the lamb (juicy and tender) and the okay part was the chicken and sausage because I've had that exact sausage from la mexicana and a family cook out. It's nothing new to me. Plantain chips and feta spread: 3/5 it was okay but I wish the dip had a little more flavor. Brussel sprouts: 4/5 The Brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and seasoned well but to me the thing they were missing was honey or some type of sweet element. I took them home and added hot honey, threw them in the air fryer and they ended up being 5/5. Rum punch: 10/5 amazing amazing amazing!!! Literally tasted like a white tea. Dangerous drink. I tasted zero alcohol. Super refreshing! Great deal if you get the one that serves 2-3! I want to mention everything came out at the same time and I wish the plantain chips and dip came out before everything else. We went to The Lymbar for lunch during HRW. We each had the beef quesabirria empanada as our appetizer. We enjoyed the empanada. We had the arroz paella (chicken, thinly sliced chorizo, and shrimp), and pesto roasted salmon. The paella was better than the salmon, but both were still good. We paid extra and split a tres leche cake slice. If you've ever been to Churrascos, or Amazon Grill or Americas before those two restaurants closed, then you know the wonders of the delicious tres leche cake at a Cordua restaurant. The parking in the lot outside was free as long as you didn't stay there longer than a few hours. While the staff was nice, they did not come around very often. I ran out of water and no one stopped by to fill my cup. There were long stretches of time between each portion of the meal, and folks who came in after we did completed their meal before we even ordered dessert. Nevertheless, I recommend this restaurant, and I look forward to going back again. read more

Our waitress recommended placing all three course selections at once so the timing of each dish would flow seamlessly, which turned out to be a great idea. Appetizers: We shared the Frito Misto, Hummus with Beef Kofta, and the Carbonara. All three were flavorful, but the Carbonara truly stood out--creamy, comforting, and perfectly balanced. Entrée: I chose the Arroz Paella with shrimp and scallops. It was outstanding, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the scallops were sweet, tender, and succulent. Dessert: I ended with the Tres Leches, and it was the perfect finish. Moist, rich, and just the right amount of sweetness, one of the best I've had in a while. My first time at this place was when I was a +1 at a yelp event and I knew I needed to bring my friends here for happy hour. We came on a Tuesday afternoon so it wasn't crowded. Our server was so kind, this place wants to appeal to a more upscale crowd. We started with a caipirinha and it was so delicious! Very well balanced. From the happy hour menu, we tried the hummus, ceviche tostada, devil wings, and the garlic fries. All of them are great but the portion size is pretty small, it's probably more conducive for 1 person, maybe 2 if you order a lot of items. I liked how the hummus had different things you can mix it with and the pita it came with was warm. The wings were flavorful but it wasn't a spicy buffalo flavor that you'd traditionally expect. The ceviche was too notch, I could eat several of them. Our 2nd round of drinks was the mezcalrita. It was pretty Smokey, which I liked but it was too much for one of our friends. We were still hungry so we shared an arroz paella. It had good flavor, but was a little salty for my taste. This is a great place to go for a drink after work, or a cute date night spot. The chicken Chicharrón tasted just like chicken nuggets, which was great for me just more flavorful. The fried lobster Twinkie was a one and done for me. The paella was one of my favorites the quantity was amazing and the shrimp size was beautiful along with the charbroil taste of it. There was meat in every single bite. I love a good lychee martini of course this is not on their menu, but they do have it just so you know. The best part is they're still during Houston restaurant week and it's October. Tasted more like boneless chicken nuggets than the dried crunchy pork rinds I grew up on! The empanadas were tasty too. Just wish the portion was bigger! What a lovely spot! A friend and I went for dinner and I was surprised to be one of three parties in the place. The LYMBAR can be a bit intimidating from the menu perspective as they have everything from Spanish -Mexican influence to seafood to Italian dishes. Additionally, the bar menu is very robust and the service is excellent -- for my bourbon and whiskey drinkers, they boast a private barrel of a Elijah Craig and their old fashion is amazing. On this particular evening, we decided to split the rose paella and the steak frites, everything was divine. The scallops were tender, shrimp was succulent, and the steak was cooked to perfection. Visited this place again tonight and had a totally different experience. We made a reservation for 6:45pm and were told it was an error that let us book because they have no tables available. They offered us a seat at the counter. This was a bad spot because the waitress did not check on us. I ran out of water, and didn't have a fork for a while. My frito misto was missing shrimp. The calamari batter was overly salty. I asked about the paella coming with scallops and the waitress informed me that it no longer comes with scallops but calamari. When my friend's food comes to the table she had scallops! I opted for the steak thinking I couldn't get scallops. She did not ask how I wanted it prepared and it came to the table bloody. They re-made it but it still had no flavor. Overall less than stellar experience. I'm embarrassed that I suggested this place as I was trying to celebrate my friend's birthday and we were underwhelmed with the service and the food. read more

Came here to celebrate a friends birthday and reservations were made ahead of time. It's located inside of the ION corporate building. We were able to get seated right away and they had couches as their seats which made it quite comfy. We had a party of 10 though and had a bit of spacing in between so it was a bit difficult to speak to each other from a distance. We mainly ordered from the HRW menu but had some small additions from the regular menu. The service seemed a bit slow, one side of the table received their order of plantain chips before us and it took another 20 minutes for our side to receive it. For the 1st course, I got the Lobster Twinkies (pretty crispy and such a unique take on a "twinkie"). 2nd course, I got the Arroz Paella (really enjoyed this dish, I loved that it came with chicken, shrimp and chorizo and was just a overall flavorful paella). For the 3rd course dessert, I got the Original Tres Leches (MOIST MOIST MOIST, I liked it alot). Came here for happy hour with a friend after attending an event at The Ion. We both had the sangria which was refreshing and perfect for a summer afternoon. The oysters were out of this world with some sort of crunchy topping. So good. My short rib taco was also quite my nice. I would definitely come back. read more

Very impressed with the food and service at The Lymbar! I was attending an event at ION District and was attracted to the inside. I was immediately greeted and eventually wound up at the bar. I enjoyed the Ceviche Mixto, Spinach Empanadas with green sauce and the Tres Leches. Items were very flavorful and put together well. I enjoyed libations of Banaera ( an absolute FAVORITE) and a Zombie. Priscilla and team working the bar were amazing. Great bartenders and kept me entertained. Lively conversational decor. I definitely plan to make my way back to the Lymbar, especially once the weather gets a little nicer. They do have a patio setting as well. A breeze and a Bananera will set me right. read more
