I'm surprised I have not reviewed this place because we have been here multiple times and each time we've liked it. This is not a place you go to just have lunch or something.This place is an experience. Some adults might find joy in here (like I do), but my children definitely did, and that's worth it. They came here with the same excitement that they had for disneyland so I'm really happy about that. We all liked the harry potter experience and some different anime type experiences as well that my children liked. The foods and drinks are on theme and although it's not cheap, it's definitely not as much as Disneyland. We came on the weekends, but during lunchtime, and I can see how they might be really busy during the dinner rush. Sometimes you might need a timed entry to go in, but thankfully, we have not since we've been going. I will say that it's quite small and gets cramped really fast. I just think the experience of it all is a really cool and I'm happy we have fun places like this around us in Houston. read more

While my cousin was in town for a visit, we made a trip to Popfancy for their Howl's Moving Castle themed pop up cafe. Upon entering, I was immediately so impressed with the interior. They made the inside look so cozy and feel like you were eating in Howl's kitchen alongside Calcifer's hearth. They also had some Studio Ghibli merch available for purchase and an extensive Studio Ghibli themed menu. We ordered the Totoro Taiyaki which was filled with Ube custard & served with a scoop of ice cream of our choice. Our order was prepared promptly, and we enjoyed our dessert while watching some clips of Ghibli movies and trivia videos. She was seriously disconnected. Tried coming as a walk in with my nieces and nephew a few weeks ago, but quickly realized it was going to be a very long wait given the line that formed and didn't really seem to be moving. I ended up paying for fast passes (they do release free fast passes, but those get scooped up quickly, and I was able to pay $3 per ticket on eventbrite to snag fast passes). Our pass was for 1pm and we were inside by 1:10pm. They do reserve the tables initially for the fast passes, at least when we came in at our time and it was great because I couldn't imagine being here without a table since I had a group of little ones with me! The staff were super friendly and worked as quickly as they could. There was a little bit of stress because of volume of orders and people, but they did the best they could and handled the traffic well. We got a variety of drinks and each enjoyed them-- I will say, all of the drinks are on the sweeter side, but definitely standard for kids. We literally got one of everything on the menu and I wasn't able to grab photos before the kids enjoyed them, but that's the whole point! The add ons can become pricey, but for the enjoyment of your little ones, it's definitely worth it! For food, we got the Derpy spam rice, ramen and grilled cheese. It was ok. We paid for the fast pass as it was on a Sat afternoon that we were going. And when we got there there was No Line. I wish the money went towards your order once you get there. That was wasted money. They had some good themed drinks, good and treats that were tasty. However I feel like the decor was lacking. The staff could have also been in costume/cos play to make it more realistic. We went to the retro arcade with stranger things influence. The line was pretty long to enter, but that's to be expected for these kind of events. This was my first time coming to Popfancy so I can't compare it to how it regular appearance or wait times. The fast pass helped us get into the restaurant and out of the cold but you will wait to order, wait to be seated and then a pretty long wait for food. The staff are nice. The decor is pretty cute. I went for the One Piece theme with my little brother, and let me start off by saying they decorate and nail the theme exceptionally well. We felt a little nostalgic walking in and seeing the decor. However, like some other yelpers have commented, the space is very small and can get very packed during these themed events. We enjoyed the ring master drink (based on buggy), the Build-Your-Big Top Boat, the Pao Puffs, and the Pretzel Delights. The ring master drink was VERY sweet, but the fruit was delicious. For the banana boat, I had the red bean, matcha, and cappuccino ice cream flavors, but only really enjoyed the red bean ice cream with the banana. The pretzel was okay to me, but I did like the pao puffs. We opted to get the puffs with honey rather than the marina per the server's suggestion, but honestly I had them without any dips and they were great to me. Overall - I would say know what you're coming in for. People come here to enjoy the theme, and while the food and desserts are okay, you're truly coming here for the ambiance and experience. I found out about popfancy online and we decided to make a stop during our quick trip to Houston. My kiddo loved the Harry Potter theme. We got a mandrake themed dessert, Oreo cheesecake, which was yummy. He got a mixing potion drink that shows you which Hogwarts house you end up with based on color. He loved it, though he ended up sharing some with dad once he got about half way done with it it. I got a pop-ular drink, one of their more Wicked themed items, which was really sweet. Such a cool place. It's like you're being transported to another world. The menu was easy to read. I immediately choose the lychee cherry soda. It was light, bubbly, and slightly sweet. The staff helped my selective children, choose ice! Of course I had to taste each of them. The strawberry and vanilla gave just that. My wife had seen Popfancy on her social media a couple of times, we never made it to Houston when they had a Pokémon theme but they had luckily extended their Harry Potter theme by a weekend for when we had already planned on being in area. Theming is done decently, staff was great and getting orders out in a reasonable time. Snacks and drinks are decent. It's a great concept. Though for the crowds they are bringing in they need a bigger space. I started getting claustrophobic, just by walking in. We initially hit a sweet spot to not have a long wait and needed to wait a few minutes after placing our order for a group to get up so my wife could claim a table. Though we watched a number of folks seem to need to wait to place orders until tables started clearing. Which is normal for a more sit down experience but this is more of a quick service place. This dessert bar is more of a themed cafe, every month or so they change up the theme which is super cool. They decorate the place to fit the theme, when I went the theme was an anime called Demon Slayer and it was so cute! They went all out with the decor, even had trivia on one tv and someone doing their makeup for a cosplay for one of the characters! Had a lot of awesome photo-ops! Overall the staff were nice but didn't seem to really know much about their menu items. There were a lot of drink options, a decent amount of savory food options, and some dessert options. My husband and I went all out and ordered a bunch of food! We ordered Japanese curry rice with shrimp tempura, Onigiri 3 ways, Shrimp takoyaki, the Japadog, and a Lychee cherry blossom soda. The best thing there was the Lychee cherry blossom soda, I've never had anything like it. It was refreshing, light, not too sweet, and had fun popping bobas. Sadly everything else there was not good, especially for someone who eats Japanese food a lot. The rice from the curry rice tasted odd, the spicy tuna in the onigiri was canned tuna, the shrimp takoyaki was a disappointment, just the flavor and overall texture was odd. The Japadog however was pretty good, I did really enjoy the sausage they used. Overall I feel like this place is overhyped but I do commend their marketing team for coming up with themed food (even if it wasn't authentic and didn't it taste good). If you've never tried Japanese food, this place would be a good for beginners to ease their way into the seafood centered Japanese cuisine. For those who have never tried takoyaki (which is octopus in a wheat flour based batter, cooked and shaped into a ball) their shrimp takoyaki or ebiyaki is a great place to start. If there is a theme you are interested in, it is a good place for photo-ops, I'd recommend grabbing one of their drink options and maybe a dessert. read more

It does get packed inside but there are a few spots to sit and hang out. The themes make it super cute inside which I adore and the theme at the time was based on the anime, Demon Slayer! The space is small. I reserved tickets online in advance for the themed pop-up event. It was very busy and crowded inside with limited seating. The decor they had for the themed event was magical. I was in awe with how cute they had it! They definitely made a statement. They also sold merchandise related to the theme of the event. I was bummed they were out of bread to make some of the main items on their limited menu. The decorative bottles and dessert decor wasn't as it appeared on the menu. Everything was tasty though! The store now offers a fast ticket pass that customers can purchase to bypass the long lines. For the most part, people are joking around and trying to make the best of the situation while waiting for hours to get inside. In the future, I will reconsider waiting this long. I removed two stars from my positive review because it's a hazard to have so many people waiting for such an extended period. Love, love, love the atmosphere. It was literally never a dull moment. Although it was very crowded, finding a seat wasn't an issue. We waited, but not very long. The staff is super friendly. We also got to chat it up with the owner. This was my first experience with this place. I was a bit disappointed that my drink came in this plastic cup. I was looking forward to what I saw on the menu. Unless this was to go which we never requested. Another disappointment is the charge added to use a card. It isn't right especially since this is a cash free facility. Our drink were flavorless especially the cereal killer. Having Popfancy at our wedding was a HUGE hit. Everyone loved the variety of flavors, the cute popsicle cart and the interactive toppings bar. The two servers were very helpful and professional. My favorite popsicles were the viet coffee and taro but honestly all of them were delicious. I've had so many people ask me where the popsicles were from and I'm so glad they have their Bellaire location for me to refer our guests to. Came to check out PopFancy Dessert Bar, I saw a line formed outside before opening so I jumped on in and waited about 2 minutes. What a cool, fun, atmosphere so this place usually has different themes and they create different desserts to go along with those themes. I was lucky enough to catch Sailor Moon I ordered a double scoop ice cream on a huge piece of toast with Ferraro Rocher candies and chocolate drizzle. I also ordered a rainbow fruit drink and some waffle fish stuffed with a type of spiced either apple or pear I wasn't too sure what it was but it was delicious. I recommend looking online before coming to the location to see what kind of theme they're having. A cool experience, very fun would definitely come again! I've been here a few times and the pop ups are always SUPER themed and I love it. The decor, the menu, the atmosphere is always on point with whatever theme is going on at the moment. They had this Mario video game thing going on so I thought I would try it out. First thing you notice is how small the space is, but it is decorated absolutely fantastic. And the music was video game themed but it was entirely too loud. Then went to order and they had the ice cream and drinks but they were out of the novelty containers which was the biggest bummer. The ice cream was ok. This is really a dessert for the kids, because it was entirely too sweet for me. This would be fun to take the kids to for a treat.
