I would give 10 stars for the ice cream! It's so tasty and so many unique, delicious flavors. The chocolate was very fudgy and decadent and the fig and goat cheese was really tasty. It's a cute little place with plenty of parking. I give a star off because the service was not great. The workers were sitting towards the back chatting and I was trying to get their attention to order after waiting for a few minutes in their sight. I was the only person in there. They kept looking at me, but I thought maybe they didn't notice, so I waved and saw me and couldn't be bothered to come over to help. When one of them finally did, they were pretty annoyed to help me and inpatient, but it only took a minute to order and ring up. I have worked in the service industry and understand that one must be patient, but being ignored does not feel great, regardless. Also the coffee was not working or available when I went recently, not sure if it was just temporary.
I'm not sure how, but whenever I'm in this area, my car seems to magically veer into the sweet cup parking lot. While I'm never sure how it happens, I'm always grateful. ;) I always love the little message board, handwritten, small shop vibe and their small cup with 2 flavors is perfect for my "you're an adult and prediabetic" lifestyle. This trip was the best of my trips thus far. Why? First, in addition to the always ample, ever changing selection of flavors, the customer service was amazing. I was super indecisive, but the team member behind the counter was patient and helpful. Second, they now offer toppings, one of which is a homemade toasted marshmallow and MAN is it worth the extra dollar or two! It's a marshmallow skewer really, toasted before your eyes which results in an amazingly fragrant gift the whole little shop and a super tasty treat for you. So, if you're in the mood to treat yourself, this spot may just be the place!
Absolutely delicious DF option! Place was busy after we walked in around 830pm! A sample of the dirty coconut turned into a cone, which comes with two generous scoops! Homemade toasted waffle cone -- a bit too toasted for me! Excellent customer service and patient staff assisting several customers all walking in at the same time! Definitely worth the visit!

This is one of the last standing establishments in a seemingly abandoned strip mall. Its a chill, casual spot for gelato and sorbet. The staff were all super nice and offer samples of their various flavors, which can help when trying to choose from so many great sounding flavors. I ABSOLUTELY fell in love and am obsessed with their grapefruit lavender, so much so that I went back and bought a pint to go. It was such a rich grapefruit flavor and had such wonderful floral notes. I'm usually not a sorbet person cause I prefer the creaminess of a gelato but the flavor won me over. For anyone who likes grapefruit or wants a floral, refreshing treat, please try it!
Sweet Cup is a gelato shop located in Montrose with a wide selection of unique flavors. They have various flavors of gelato, and they also have sorbet, as well. I have visited the shops a few times, You can sample as my flavors as you want, and my favorite flavor is the tres leches vanilla. If you love tres leches, it will be you favorite flavor! They also add a little waffle cone piece to your gelato. The shops is a bit small with limited seats, but there are some outdoor seating and plenty of parking during the weekends at night time. Overall, there are many great flavors, and the gelato is super soft and creamy!
Like me, you've probably driven by this place without knowing it countless times. However, once you find it, you'll keep coming back for more! They offer good quality gelato and rotate flavors pretty frequently. There's also way more seating than you would expect. Definitely going to be a favorite late night treat spot.
Cute little gelato shop. Lots and lots of cool flavors. I tried the blood orange, so tangy & refreshing just what the doctor ordered. Strawberry - just what you'd expect. Nice strawberries mixed through and through. There are about 5 bar stools on the wall of the wall of this quaint shop. And there are 3 metal tables that seat 4 each outside. It's a nice spot to go to late I'm the evening while it's still 96 degrees to cool off.
You may drive past the ice cream parlor easily because it is not noticeable. There is a big parking lot, and two designated parking spaces just for Sweet Cup customers. There is a huge variety of flavors. From classic flavors like strawberry, and chocolate, to unique flavors like fig and goat cheese, and Vietnamese coffee, there is bound to have a flavor that you will like. I had the fig and goat cheese, and Bacio which is chocolate hazelnut. Both flavors were good but could have been more pronounced. Staff was friendly, and allowed customers to try the flavors prior to purchase. Enjoy your ice cream either inside with limited seating or outside which has a few tables and chairs.
A cute and local gelato place which great flavors! Their gelatos have a creamy consistency and they had many flavors to choose from! I got the tres leches vanilla and salted caramel. I enjoyed both a lot! Delicious and love supporting a local houston spot
I've been here several times and I've always like their unique and variety of flavors that the interchange several times each time I've been there. The ice cream is amazing here the service is amazing either even though sometimes the staff appears tired, but they are so willing to help and provide samples. It's a small casual place with not a lot of seating but the ambiance is good for a small ice cream shop.

Why 5 stars? Because 3 scoops went down way too easy. --- --- --- After lunch nearby, we wanted to grab something sweet before leaving the 'hood, so we turned to SweetCup. I wasn't super confident in this decision because there were two other ice cream options semi-nearby that I'd been to before and loved, but I'm glad we ended up trying something new, because it was great! I ordered three scoops in a cone: Christmas Cookie, Salted Caramel and Tres Leches Vanilla Bean. These were all great, especially the first two. The only bummer is that they said they weren't offering samples because they were running low on spoons. I couldn't decide if this was actually true or something they say to prevent people like me from going crazy with samples. Either way, I ended up with two home run flavors and one decent one. I will say, my wife got a scoop of peppermint and we didn't love it. It was incredibly strong in terms of the minty-ness. But my cone was full of goodness, so I was happy. One final note: the scoops here are a lot smaller than at most shops. While this might sound like a bad thing, the nice part is that you don't have to be concerned with the ice cream melting and dripping everywhere because the cone can't contain it. I'll be happy to stop here again when I'm in the area!

You HAVE TO visit SweetCup! They have all different kinds of gelato which are clearly labeled: gluten free, egg custard, sorbet, & other(s). After many visits and knowing I am always going to leave with at least one pint, I finally read the remarkable article about the founder/owner. She studied gelato at university in Italy!! Wow, what a cool topic to study and it shows her commitment, devotion, and skills which all go into the wonderful flavors at SweetCup! She experiments with different flavors, cultural flairs, and combinations. The location has seating inside for about 10 people and outside patio tables with chairs for another 10 people. Free parking right in front is always a bonus. See you there! read more

I've been to Sweet Cup a few times in the past and thoroughly enjoyed my visits, but in my opinion, the business has gone downhill. The double scoop cup of cookies and cream with vanilla tres leches was delicious. However, we were not offered samples, although the party who arrived after us were. The two people working the counter seemed standoffish and didn't have the right disposition or vibe for this kind of business. In the past, service was exceptional. Not sure what happened here, but there are so many other great places to get frozen treats. Probably my last visit here. read more
We did a day trip to Houston and found this spot for some ice cream/gelato. After sampling a few flavors, I got a scoop of the pecan baklava and the chocolate hazelnut crunch. We all loved the pecan baklava, so that was the crowd favorite. I like that they top of the scoops with a piece of a waffle cone. read more

A cute gelato place with lots of flavors. The girl at the counter explained the flavors and let us try any of the flavors. They had a few holiday flavors which was fun. I tried the egg big and mint chocolate chip which were both creamy and delicious. It was a small cup but still filled with a lot of gelato. read more
Loved this place. I always save room after a meal for a little treat. I went for the Nutella S'Mores which is not very normal of me so you know it had to be good lol. I typically don't go for super sweet flavor. I'm definitely a cheesecake girl, so I had to request a scoop of that. Both flavors were great BUT the cheesecake was better I have to say. The sweetness is just alittle more subtle than the s'mores. The waffle chip was a cute touch, almost turns it into ice cream art. It's delicious and adds a little cinnamony flavor. Had the Cappuccino flavored gelato here. Excellent service when requested sampling the Vietnamese coffee and the Cappuccino one. The shop was very clean, making the whole ambiance quite relaxing. Highly recommend! read more

Lots of creative flavors here. But, we picked the salted caramel, Vietnamese coffee, and strawberry flavors. Customer service was great. They were very patient with us trying out a lot of ice cream to get to our flavor choices. We were told that their flavors change almost every other day. So, I'll have to come back and try them out. Of note, they are located next to Handies Douzo. So, you can get your sushi fix and walk over here for your ice cream fix. Yay. read more

So impressed with this gelato shop! It has a huge variety of flavors (of both gelato and sorbet), and the service is quick and friendly. I tried the Violet Creamsicle Flavor and loved it--super refreshing, floral, and not overwhelmingly sweet. It was also reasonably priced, compared to other gelato places. I don't have a big sweet tooth but happened to stop by here on a hot day. So many amazing flavors and even better when you mix them up in a bowl. A small size is more than enough for me but they have much bigger sizes too. They are a cashless business. read more

This is hands down the best gelato in Houston. We've been going there for years. The flavors are consistently unique, creamy, and so good! Also, the waffle cones are the best I've ever had. There is usually a line, but worth the wait, and a line is always a good sign! read more

I came to this place way back when it was first open, so happy to see they are still kicking it 10 years later. They were my first (in memory) exposure to ~odd~ flavors that pair typical gelato ingredients with twists of ginger, balsamic, mint, cilantro, etc. Sometimes I really just want the run-of-the-mill options like cookies and cream or vanilla, and they have those too (although with fancier names). Staff was friendly and helpful. If you are looking for dairy free/gluten free/vegan options, they have a decent number of those as well, which is quite unique compared to other dessert shops around. read more

SweetCup has some monster hype behind it and it's probably the 4th gelato establishment in HTX that I've visited. The place definitely deserves some love for advertising vegan and dairy free options (However, I'd also imagine most sorbets to be dairy free anyway). No quarrels about service. Just like most other Gelato shops, you stand in line, sample roughly about 5 or 6 flavors while feeling the pressure of glaring eyes silently begging you to hurry the h*ll up so that they can so the same thing to the folks behind them. When the line gets busy, a 2nd attendant will step up and also help folks sample. Great teamwork and service. But how did I feel about the Gelato? I HAVE to get the pistachio--rain, sleet, or snow. It's a staple for me. Even through the sample, pistachio outshines them all. Why is this green nut so freakin' delicious, and even more perplexing--why is it even green to begin with? Don't skip trying it. I usually pair it with something strong with cocoa--like tiramisu. Gods bless the creator. So why the three stars? Well, I have to be honest. I've had "better" Gelato elsewhere in HTX. I've seen shops with a wider selection, though there is some charm in spinning your own flavors. Now everyone's palette is subjective. Some find this Gelato to be "close" to the real thing in Milano. For me, the further it is from ice cream, the more I appreciate it. Gelato needs to be noticeably more dense than ice cream. The flavors need to punch through--like, smack-me-across-my-face-oh-my-god-yum?, and I just wasn't getting that intensity I'm used to when I eat Gelato. At least that night at SweetCup, it was very ice creamy (too airy or buttery, not so intense in flavor). The shop was also kinda warm so the Gelato was already melting by the time I found a seat and came back from washing my hands. Will I come back? Of course..! Just honestly, probably not ever by myself. read more
