I stopped in for my #YelpEliteTreat and decided to go all in with 3 flavors. I picked Caramel Butter Swirl, Birthday Cake (contains gluten), and Goat Cheese (Cheese Cake). I found out that this particular store has been here NINE YEARS! They just celebrated their birthday in February! The gelato was creamy and fresh tasting, also came with a waffle cone chip. I paired my gelato with a cappucino that was made and prepared fresh in front of me. Apparently this location has had some trouble with people trying to break in. They had several safety measures in place to thwart those trying to steal a sweet treat - good for them! Overall everything was great and if you're in the area and have a craving for sweets, but not as much fat as ice cream - swing on by! Came here with some friends yesterday for the first time in a while. As always, was not disappointed with any of the flavors I got! I had the key lime cilantro, grapefruit lavender, lavender honey tres leches, and coconut passionfruit. My favorites were the grapefruit lavender and coconut passionfruit. I always get the medium (up to 4 flavors, $5.25) or large (up to 5 flavors, $6.25) because I feel like the small (up to 3 flavors, $4.25) is a bit expensive. Honestly one of the best (if not the best), gelato places in Houston. They rotate their incredibly large selection of flavors that it's pointless for me to tell you what I even got. Well that's actually the magic right there; no matter what assortment they have, you're likely to find a flavor that you like. They have typical standard flavors but also a handful of unique ones too. While I didn't like some, there were a few that were extremely good. Unfortunately I don't remember them anyway so I can't tell you which ones they were. The gelato itself is quite smooth and dense, just how gelato should be. Each proclaimed flavor is pronounced very well throughout each delicious bite. When we were there they had a special with some cold brew and my friends essentially got a gelato float (for like $7 or something?). In retrospect I should've gotten one too. Actually it's sort of like an affogato if you think on it a bit. In any case, parking was horrendous but we did go on a Saturday afternoon. I found street parking but good luck with that. Servers were kind and patient (I tried a dozen flavors) and were willing to share their favorites too (some of which weren't even available because of that rotation at that time though, haha). In any case, gelato is pricey, but I found it borderline fair. 9/10, would definitely come again and would definitely recommend to a friend. read more

I tried the 3 Amigos (chocolate/pb), Pistachio, and Goat Milk gelatos. I always forget that gelato is so smooth and creamy, compared to ice cream. Sweet Cup's gelato was exactly that: smooth, creamy, and delicious. The little waffle cone chip that came in the scoop cup was also delicious. The small scoop is the perfect size for one person. My only regret was that I saw the Malai Kulfi flavor AFTER I already ordered. Service was speedy and friendly- I forgot my credit card there, and they found a way to contact me. A small ice cream shop in Montrose, but I do like the unique flavors here. It's located in a small plaza strip. Somewhat doable parking. Not too busy on a Saturday afternoon, but a crowd started to come in after us. The inside is a bit small with a few tables. They let you try an unlimited amount of flavors. The staff was very friendly and patient with us as we tried the flavors. There are 3 sizes in terms of which cup you want. A small size gives you up to 3 different flavors. The large gives you 5 flavors. I went with Texas Kulfi and pistachio. I'm a big fan of pistachio and the flavor was definitely solid. They have a lot of mixed flavors, not your typical ice cream. I believe the flavors rotates every now and then. I wouldn't mind coming back here again to try some of the new flavors. read more

Back in 2010, I spent a month studying abroad in Venice. It was one of the best months of my life, hands down. Part of my Italy experience was my gelato addiction. I love an ice cream shop. It would have to be absolutely horrible to get a bad review on me. Okay so this place is located on Montrose Blvd between Hawthorne street and Alabama in a yellowish shopping center. We decided to go after dinner one night. The line was pretty long. But like I always say. If the line is long, they're doing something right. They have multiple favors, but it's no so many to where you're overwhelmed and forgot which one you tasted. Im always super thrilled with SweetCup. I've only been to the Montrose location twice now. I usually go to the Ella location as it's much closer. I've had friendly service at both locations, but Montrose tends to get exclusive flavors. The vanilla bean tres leches and horchata flavors are my favorite, especially together. And the bourbon caramel, the pomegranate, and to lesser extent the Guava. The famous Kulfi flavour did not do it for me. New paragraph. Voice dictation ftw. Subsequent trips have not been as amazing. Possibly because I'm comparing it to the stuff that I found in Chinatown. Gelato Cup (amazing) and Frozen Cafe (one of the best I've ever had). The funniest thing that happened to me here was recently when I came across a Yelper that I knew and recognized from his check in. He was with about 5 different girls so I told him that he was the Yelp Superstar which he really is. And they all giggled. I was totally his wingman without him even knowing me. However, a little bit less funny, or more, depending on your proclivities, was that I had walked in on one of the girls a few minutes earlier in the bathroom. My bad. The lock doesn't work very well. Not my fault. I did not, as some reports suggested, use a stanley knife to access the women's bathroom stall when occupied. On the contrary, it's unisex.
