The selection was not great. The ice cream also not great. I regretted getting a red velvet cone. At this point, I'm convinced red velvet is nothing more than just red dye. There's no sweetness or appealing flavor to it. They need to just call things red dye and stop calling it Red Velvet because there's nothing velvety about it. Flower + Cream is a small batch, artisan ice cream shop in Houston. They have a variety of interesting housemade flavors and gluten-free cones, as well. I had the toffee coffee cake and their holiday flavor--peppermint bark. The peppermint bark was my absolute favorite mint/peppermint flavored ice cream! It was creamy with chunks of peppermint candy and was not overwhelmingly artificially minty. The toffee coffee cake was rich and creamy, as well. There are lots of gluten-free cone flavors, but I just got the regular waffle cone, which was crispy. Staff were friendly. There was a lot of parking when we went, but we walked there after dining at Hu's down the street! Overall, they have lots of different flavors, and I cannot wait to try for my next visits. Juneteenth inspire me to try a few flavors that I wouldn't have tried otherwise...the red (or reddish ones)! If they made a Juneteenth cone, red velvet cone, with red velvet n cream (with cookies of course), and hot fudge (2 items of which they already carry), I'm sure they'd reach a new audience. Also the various cone flavors are so fun to choose from and definitely something that I haven't seen in other icecream shops nearby. I couldn't decide on what other flavor I wanted to try, because I could have gone without about ten of them. This shop is different than others you have seen...you can't see the ice cream selection,since it's underneath stainless steel doors in their coolers. Not sure if that's really a great marketing idea. I was surprised when I was charged extra for the Kahlua and cookies flavor....the menu states you must be over 21 to order that flavor, but says nothing about costing extra. Also, we ordered a milkshake, but they charged another 50 cents extra for oreo flavor? Really? Do they really need to nickel and dime you? Their ice cream is already pricy enough as it is. I ordered a cup of two flavors, consisting of 2 small scoops and that was 7.25....ridiculous. Nutella banana and Kahlua and cookies. A very slight banana flavor since the Nutella is overpowering. The kahlua was alright and didn't have very many cookies mixed in. The swings are the main draw in the seating area, which are 3 swings by the window. One is currently broken, so they're down to just 2. The door to the restroom is unique since the top is cut to fit with the half-arched door frame. My friends and I stopped in for a late night treat a few nights ago. This was my first time visiting F&C and I was amazed at how busy it was relatively close to closing. We were greeted immediately when we walked in. The menu board is hard to read because it's small white font on a pink background with dim lighting. They had a QR code on the counter that you can scan for the menu which was really helpful. I sampled the Toffee Coffee Cake and the Raspberry Tres Leches. They give you a real spoon to sample the ice cream similar to Van Leeuwen. Apparently they will charge you if you don't return the spoon (according to the sign next to the return cup). Both flavors that I tried were good, but I had to go with the Raspberry Tres Leches because Tres Leches is one of my favorite desserts. I ordered one scoop in a French Vanilla waffle cone which cost extra. The ice cream had actual cake pieces and they were so tasty! The ice cream was really good, but I didn't like it quite as much as the ice cream at Jeni's. They sell boozy ice cream (Kahlua and Cookies on the day we went) as well as vegan ice cream. They are cashless. I noticed that they offer catering, ice cream flights, and pints to go. They have a self serve water dispenser next to the refrigerator of pints. As we were finishing our ice cream, I wanted water, but noticed they took away the water dispenser. We asked if we could get some water and one of the employees was nice enough to get us some small cups of water from the back. The shop is kind of small. There's a few tables and chairs inside, a few chairs (no tables) outside, and some cute swings by the window that are chained to the floor to prevent mishaps. They let you sample as many ice creams as your heart wants, but honestly that just made it even harder to decide because of how good every flavor was. We landed on ordering a two scoop cup with the Cereal Milk Oreo and Toffee Coffee Cake flavors. So good. The ice cream was creamy and perfectly sweet.
