Royal Roastery is a roastery offering freshly roasted nuts, baklava, Turkish delight, ice cream, knafeh, desserts, Arab drinks, juices, and shakes. When I stopped by on a weekday evening at 9pm it was packed. They had stations setup throughout the store to order different goods, which helped to alleviate the rush. Knafeh ($6) - They offered 2 types of knafeh, one with cheese and one with custard. I went with the one made with Nabulsi cheese and topped with shredded phyllo, and soaked in sugar syrup. It was warm, crispy and delicious! Karak tea ($5) - This milk tea drink was made with aromatic spices, primarily cardamom, cloves, ginger and cloves. I was happy to see they used whole milk instead of evaporated milk. The drink was incredibly rich and creamy and tasted great. Turkish delight ($18 / lb.) - This was extremely fresh, soft and chewy, made with cornstarch, sugar, nuts. Some of the varieties I tried had chocolate and/or fruits. The baklava here was fresh made with layers of phyllo dough, chopped nuts, and held together with some honey. The nut offerings here included, almonds, walnuts, peanuts and a few more. This is a store that has so many options, it's almost designed to give you decision paralysis. They have crepes and waffles, Dubai chocolate bars, mousse cakes, gelato, Turkish delights, fancy chocolates, and a whole bunch of other snacks. The Dubai crepe was super rich and creamy and nice large portion size. The strawberry mousse cake was frozen solid, so I was not able to eat it right away but it was a lovely mousse with jelly fruit filling and a thick chocolate crust. Also got a bag of chocolates, which are weighed by the pound. The only qualm I have is that the chocolates are not labeled, so when you mix them all together, it truly is a bit of a Russian roulette on what you'll get. Everything was super yummy. After getting its start in New Orleans, Royal Roastery made its way to Houston a handful of years ago (#1) providing the world class Middle Eastern inspired treats and coffee. Their initial hype hasn't slowed down and their fandom has continually grown, which most definitely includes yours truly. First off, the place is enormous. It might not look like much from the outside, but the interior is bright and spaced out with sections, a seating area, and plenty of room to peruse. The weekday mornings are usually the most quiet, but a crowd can develop anytime, especially during the wee hours since they're open till midnight every night. Their affinity for nut-roasting is never more apparent with their approach to coffee and desserts. Their brews are aromatic, rich, and apparently roasted in-house. Their affogatos are excellent and the pistachio lattes have been perfectly creamy and sweet. They pair nicely with some of their sweet delights. Dessert lovers will love their array of sweets. Their knefeh is gooey and buttery and is a must-have. They've also managed to creatively feature the Dubai chocolates in multiple ways, from dessert cups to crepes to full on bars. There is also number of other items such as waffles, cheesecakes, fruits, and a plethora of Turkish items such as baklava, dragee (#2), and halva. Whether it's for a morning pick-me-up, gift shopping for others, or simply looking for a late night dessert spot, Royal Roastery has truly impressed on a number of levels. I came here for a late-night snack. I am amazed by the amount of dessert that was available. It was so busy, but also quite fun seeing all these people. We got their knafeh, as everyone we saw was getting it. We initially did not know what it was, but it was absolutely delicious. It was neither too heavy nor too sweet. We also got their pistachio latte, which was absolutely delicious. I wanted to get their snacks, but not all of them were labeled, so it was a bit disappointing. Their baklava was weighed by the pound, and there were so many to try. There was plenty of parking, and people were super nice. This place lives up to the hype. This place is a little unique spot with a variety of different foods. The food and desserts are very cultured. They have ice cream and everything seems to be aesthetically beautiful. Their Dubai chocolate are so rich and filled. When I say they're filled they're are filled up with that pistachio filling like there is no shortage of it. The service is fine it's a little bit slow since they get so busy. I had friends visiting from Seattle and they said Royal Roastery beats any of the Middle Eastern bakery/dessert shops in Seattle. First time here, it's almost overwhelming how many things there are to choose from. Luckily, they are very generous when it comes to letting you sample the different treats. The Dubai chocolate, baklava, and Arabic ice cream were probably my favorite. Ambiance wise, this place is huge! There were multiple groups having dessert together even late at 930pm. I had a really good experience shopping here! They have lot of cool treats like gelato, cakes shaped like fruits, Turkish delights, and chocolates. I grabbed a baggie of Turkish delights and chocolate (buy by the pound!) and a fruit cake. So good!!! The cake was filled with mousse and fruit jelly, surrounded by the shell of white chocolate which is shaped and colored like the fruit. The only problem with the Turkish delights is they hardly have names and labels so it is a bit challenging to decide what to buy. My first time a few weeks ago after seeing their Instagram posts...This confectionery delight is hidden from plane sight and what's inside is such a good surprise! This place is amazing! The menu and options are robust! I as per usual were led here by social media in search of a mousse bear. Andd I got that along with an array of other delicacies. Now not only was the best tasty, it was sooo cute! I almost didn't want to eat it! They offer you a choice of chocolate sauce for an up charge and of course I got it. I've been to royal roastery a handful of times and have never been disappointed. I regularly get the pistachio iced latte and is definitely one of my favorites. We also get the Arabic ice cream which is a special made ice cream coated in pistachios. It's very unique and tasty. This place is super popular so definitely anticipate waiting in a long line. They are pretty good about getting people through the line though. The parking lot also kind of sucks but it's shared by a bunch of other businesses. I've also tried the Dubai chocolate crepe and the Dubai chocolate strawberry cup. If you like Dubai chocolate it's definitely one of the best ones in houston. This is such a wonderful Westheimer gem!! I was looking for some fun desserts and this was definitely the pace to go. They had a huge variety of fun and niche treats. Some were cultural (like crunchy sweet cheese & Arabic ice cream ) and others were just fun and different (like ice cream shaped to look like a piece of fruit) The employees were all super friendly and quick to offer samples of just about anything. There were also shelves and walls full of imported foods and tea. They had tables to sit and enjoy your dessert. Not the best location. It's in a strip with very little parking. The selection is wide when it comes to the pieces of candy they sell. Their drink menu is also quite big. They offer caffeinated fizzy drinks, lattes, cappuccino, Turkish coffee, tea and some sweets. They sell the virally overrated Dubai chocolate. Tried the Dubai chocolate strawberries but it was overwhelmingly sweet. Got a Turkish coffee to help cut through that. I was surprised to find it was flavored with cardamom- to me a Turkish coffee does not include cardamom so that was very unexpected. If you're heading over just make sure you bring patience as it is crowded and somewhat noisy. Orders are not called out so you will need to keep eyes open as they fill the counter up with orders. I'm sure this place is very fit for those with children or those who don't mind crowded spaces. Just personally not for me. read more

We also tried cookies and cream gelato and the Dubai chocolate gelato. Both were fantastic, but the Dubai chocolate was definitely the standout. It was a bit on the sweeter side, so a self-serve water station would've been appreciated. My friend picked up a Dubai chocolate strawberry cup to-go, and it was a big hit with her family. The shop also offers a wide variety of Turkish delights, candies, gummies, spices, you name it! It really felt like stepping into another part of the world. I was excited to come here because of all the TikTok videos I had seen - maybe it was an off day, but I don't think it lived up to the hype. The place is really unique and carries so many desserts and snacks, but I don't think I'm a fan of the actual food. There are so many display cases, but not many signs describing anything you're looking at. The main menu they have above the counter only shows some items, and not the ones we actually ordered. We ended up getting the Knafeh, Arabic ice cream, the Dubai chocolate bar, and my fiance got a coffee. Everything was too sweet for my taste (granted we did order a lot for just 2 of us). The Knafeh was definitely the best item, the cheese and the crunch were divine, but they did a bit too much syrup - would recommend this if you come. The ice cream was loaded with pistachios and had a nice texture, but again so sweet. I had high hopes for the Dubai chocolate, but the quality was not there - the milk chocolate was already melting even though we ate it there. The filling was good, but the chocolate didn't have the right texture. There are plenty of seats, though the tables are a bit sticky. Additionally there didn't seem to be a bathroom or water cups, which would have helped with the stickiness and sweetness. I have a feeling the Dubai Chocolate craze will never go away. It's just THAT good. Driving to Royal Roastery is worth the drive. It's worth the higher price point since they use quality ingredients and it shows. It's not something I would buy everyday, but it for sure is a "treat yo self" kinda day. We've come on a day where it's completely busy and loud and on a day where it's so empty, we could take our time wondering around. They sell novelty items from snacks to chocolates, to even spices. But we all know what we come here for...the infamous Dubai Chocolate. The knafeh is just so crispy in texture all throughout the bar, it makes you wish you could have never ending supply. Even the pistachio creme on top is finger licking good. It's so rich in flavor that you need a 24 oz cup of milk. And that's not a bad thing. I don't even eat the whole thing in one go. I make sure to save it and put it in the fridge for the next day and the knafeh is still crispy. My fiancé and I both tried the kit kat waffle and dubai chocolate waffle and OHMYGOD. Both are so good and so rich in flavor, it's so worth the $15.99. Yes. I know. But hear me out! When are you ever going to splurge on such quality dessert?! The dubai chocolate waffle was definitely a top favorite. It's the chocolate bar spread out all over the waffle all in one. You get every crispy texture in every bite. Bring on the milk. We also decided to check out some of the gummy candy and realized they are halal. That's pretty awesome to see that they are accommodating to cultures who can't have gelatin. We tried a few of the sour gummy candy and it tasted just as good. Service is great, and you can tell they pride themselves in their work and their food. However, this trip to Royal Roastery was well worth it and I'm happy I live 40 minutes away. The dark chocolate Dubai bar was everything and more. Everything you heard about the Dubai chocolate was meet with extreme satisfaction. The dark chocolate was perfectly tempered and did not break into too many pieces when bitten into or did not melt while holding it. The mixture in the middle was a perfect blend of pistachio cream, tahini, and the kataifi was toasted to perfection. There were other Dubai bars milk chocolate and a white? I got one small bar for $5 and there are larger bars as well. The location also has an aisle of gummies, chocolates, walls of snacks, a savory nut/snack bar, traditional sweets bar, galeto, coffee, and much more. I went around 2 PM on a Wednesday so it wasn't too busy and I was serviced quickly. The nut/savory bar does provide samples. Popularized by TikTok and Instagram, this place is a victim of it's own success. The lines can be very long and are ineffecient. The layout of the store is awkward. It's difficult to browse and see all the dessert options as the showcases are blocked by the line or after the place where you order. The overhead menu is only visible just before you're about to order so people can't effectively decide what to order until they are in front of the cashier, which slows down the process. The showcases don't have a lot of labels or descriptions so for those who are less initiated or familiar it's a continued mystery. The desserts themselves are visually appealing, extremely sweet and over priced. The seating area is a decently sized, but half of the seats are taken up by parties hogging the seats while the rest of the party are standing inline. The workers are friendly and patient and overwhelmed with the crowds. There are aisles of candies and treats that aren't labeled that mostly serve as line separators. The experience is visually appealing, but with all the wait, line and price of a Disney park ride. Overall, we came to experience the hype, take our pictures, but probably won't be back often or until the lines calm down. Parking is also chaotically busy. Cars enter from multiple entrances and flow both directions. The flow of cars get stuck with cars trying to pull out but are blocked by cars that are waiting to park. read more

Royal Roastery is a nice Turkish cafe that has curated an interesting cultural experience. They have a wide variety of Turkish delight treats. The staff is more than happy to cut out a small portion for you to sample prior to choosing which treats to purchase. They are sold by weight. Farha (staff) was extremely helpful and friendly and explaining the process and helping us sample quite a few of their Turkish delight options. The best selection depends on your personal preference. But we recommend the Nestle and pomegranate. We also tried a cream cheese baklava. Surprisingly, the cream cheese is a lot more rigid than typical American cream cheese. It's more along the consistency between gouda and Brie cheese. Personally, I think a creamier cream cheese is more suitable to balance the more brittle texture of the baklava. They also have an amazing collection of Turkish inspired tea sets that you can view and purchase. They are wonderfully curated and there's many to view. There's a side area where you can sit down and enjoy whatever drink, or ice cream, or company with friends. Fair warning, their ice cream is an incredibly small portion. Once inside, we were greeted with generous sample trays featuring chocolates, Turkish delights, pistachio-filled pastries, and more. I loved being able to try so many unique flavor combinations before buying. Pistachio is clearly the star of the show here, and I wasn't mad about it. I ordered the mango and lotus blossom ice cream, and it was one of the creamiest, most flavorful scoops I've had in a while. Usually, mango flavors lean more sherbet-y, but this one was smooth, silky, and perfectly balanced with the nutty floral hint of lotus. I could've gone back for seconds. My friend was hoping to try the viral fruit-layered pastries we saw trending on TikTok, but they were completely sold out by the time we arrived around 9 p.m. The cashier kindly let us know those items move fast and recommended placing an order a day or two in advance to guarantee a box. Food and drinks: All teas are caffienated so black tea based: the pomegranate ice tea was magical at $5 it was a good price and had fresh pomegranate seeds at the bottom of the drink. 10/10 Pistachio crepe was dubai chocolate vibes with pistachio creme, crushed pistachios of a magnitude that I understand why there is a pistachio shortage (value good) and a crepe stuffed with creme and shredded filo dough. The flavor was a little spiced nutty and size of crepe wasn't as big as I'm used to seeing but it was stuffed. It was a 8/10 for me. What a neat spot for middle eastern goodies, coffee, and dessert! After seeing this place from an IG reel, I was intrigued by their offering of Syrian ice cream, which is served in a generous amount and fully coated all around in crushed pistachios. They also offer Dubai Chocolate! At first I was a little skeptical since I feel like viral foods are just a gimmick, but I really enjoyed their Dubai Chocolate. The filling was so good and unlike anything I've had before in a piece of chocolate. It is on the sweet/rich side. There were so many other goodies that I'd want to come back and try. A must! You have to visit! I'm visiting from out of town and this came as a recommendation so we headed over there. Parking can be a nuisance, especially during popular visiting times, especially for the other stores. Immediately when we walked in I smells The chocolate and spices and coffee. The Turkish coffee cups and makers were Stunning! It was a sensory overload, but I can understand why. It's definitely a popular destination for many especially a place where they can get that viral Dubai chocolate that everybody is talking about. Normally I don't like to follow what's the most popular things. But this one I felt like why not I had the opportunity so let's sample it. It lived up to the hype and then some! I opted for the chocolate bar and the Dubai Chocolate Strawberries. The strawberries are a dessert featuring fresh strawberries layered with kataifi (shredded filo pastry), pistachio cream, and melted chocolate, often served in a cup. It was fantastic! Amazing! Totally worth the $18 price tag. My first time having pistachio cream. I need to get my hands on this dessert more often. I took advantage of the candy section, both gummy candy and the wrapped candy. It did not end there, I picked up a few flavors of whole bean coffee for my husband. Our visit was great. Crowded, but they had three cash registers running for candy's and one by the front door that I noticed. Everything was worth the price! If I'm back in the area I will definitely return! Finally got around to trying the infamous Dubai Chocolate and man oh man this place had a long line wrapping all around the store. We got the Dubai Chocolate Strawberry Cup, Dubai Chocolate Bar, and Pistachio Latte. Overall, it was a very cool experience and I'm glad I came out to try it, but everything was so rich and sweet. I could only tolerate a few bites of the cup and bar because it was just too rich and sweet. A later took it home, placed it in the fridge, and ate it the next day cooled with a big glass of milk which I found to be much more enjoyable. I did love the crunchiness of the knafeh. The bar had a great filling to shell ratio. The aesthetics are immaculate, but I'd say the value was quite overpriced, the cup itself cost $18. Disclaimer: I don't have the biggest sweet tooth so I probably wouldn't go back. I like my desserts in the "not too sweet range" as in I order my boba at 0-30% sweetness depending on my mood. If you have a sweet tooth definitely give this place a shot though, it's definitely one of the top places to try the Dubai Chocolate. read more

Obsessed is an understatement. Now I'm in trouble because this is the only dessert I'm going to want to be eating LOL. I have been eagerly waiting for MONTHS to try this place out, and it was totally worth the wait. I've tried Dubai chocolate desserts here and there, but it wasn't as great as I imagined it to be... UNTIL I WENT TO ROYAL ROASTERY. I had been missing out on the real stuff. Def on the pricier side - I paid $51 in total for 3 Dubai chocolate bars. ($4.99 each), a cheesecake cup ($7.99), a knafeh slice ($6), and a fruit Dubai cup ($17.99) - but sheesh it's so good I can justify those prices any time. I actually already want to go back lol. Because of the high demand, the fruit cups are already premade, but everything is still so fresh!!!!! I put the cup in the fridge overnight, and it was phenomenal - knafeh is still so crunchy, the chocolate hardens up a bit, and the strawberries get softer. The chocolate bars are amazing. They load it up generously. The filling is absolutely addicting - sweet and nutty. The cheesecake cup was one of my favorite items there. It was light and creamy! The selection is huge. Place was packed as we went on a Sunday afternoon. We shared a table with another group. Very busy, but they manage the crowd well. Parking can be a nightmare. It's a very small and narrow lot that is shared with a handful of businesses. read more

Wow, this place blew me away! I had heard all of the social media hype about this place, and I told myself that I am going to make an effort to go visit them, and I'm sure glad I did! You walk inside, you are hit with amazing smells and sights/sounds of the place, from the various spices by the pound, the long glass refrigerated area of various dishes, the coffee bar making signature coffee drinks, and all of the desserts lined up along the back and side walls. May seem overwhelming at first, but definitely take your time cruising the areas of interest! I came here for only one thing, and I'm glad they had it available for us to buy. It's the chocolate looking fruit that looks like real fruit (wow I should know the real name of this dish...) but I basically got the mango and the peach, and gosh they were sooooooooo good! Let's not forget the dubai chocolate too... it was very delicious to try! Will definitely be back again, hopefully to try other items too! read more
