My go-to ice cream shop in the area! I've been here a few times and they never disappoint. I love the rotating flavors. There have over 200 different unique flavors, and every time I come I get to try new options from the last time. Flavors range from the more classic chocolate to something as unique as goat cheese or fruity pebble gelato (which is one of my favorites!) The small size comes with three scoops of up to three different flavors plus a complimentary waffle chip. I prefer to share, but the small size is not so large that I wouldn't be able to finish it on my own. The prices are reasonable and the ice cream is always delicious! Can't go wrong here. They sell gelato, vegan options, and sorbets. Only downside is lack of seating. They have two tables inside and two outside. And for some reason, it's always hot inside. Came here after dinner tonight and enjoyed my food! First, this place is located in a small strip mall just off of Montrose. There wasn't a huge amount of parking, but since SweetCup and the other shops are all pretty small, there weren't too many people there so it was pretty easy to find a spot. The venue itself had a few tables and then the gelato and sorbet counter, pretty much. The staff at the counter were kind of friendly, I guess. They ignored us when we walked in (no greeting) but were pretty helpful once we asked a couple of questions. Maybe they get a lot of people who come in, look, and then leave, but I think greeting us would have been nice regardless :) Anyway, my gelato was pretty tasty! Nothing life-changing, but it definitely got the job done. My wife also liked hers, although the dark chocolate sorbet was maybe a little TOO high in cocoa! I'm sure that some people would be into it, though. Overall, there are a lot of highly rated dessert shops in the city, so I'm kind of inclined to go try other places instead of coming back here, but it was definitely a tasty experience! read more

Sweet Cup has everything! Amazing selections with really delicious flavors! We tried the small size which gives you 3 flavors. We chose 3 gelato flavors, Strawberry Tres Leches, Lavender and Toasted Black Sesame. All were very creamy unlike some watered down tastes out there.... Each flavor was absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed Lavender. The waffle biscuit with the cup is cinnamon flavored and it acted as a palate cleanser too! It's not just the dessert to rave about here, but the workers too. What a treat! Who knew one tinsy little cup could pack so much flavor! I ordered a small which includes up to 3 flavors. Brace yourself there are over 18 to chose from. After much deliberation, I decided on the tiramisu, blood orange sorbet and the goat cheese. I'm not sure I'm confident in choosing a favorite. They were all very yummy! But wait, since you're already indulging in a sweet treat, don't pass up the cobbler cookies! These soft and chewy brown butter cookies come with a pool of fresh fruit preserves in the center. I ordered one of the raspberry cobbler cookies, put a big smile on my face! Plan on picking up more for friends this weekend! Commendable service at this Montrose locations. This was my first time here. The shop is kind of small so it's not the type of place you can really sit down an enjoy your treat but it's functional. Collin served me today and he was polite and asked if it was my first time in. He let me know that the treats were color coded by non dairy and dairy. He also was informative on the different flavors and when I picked a particular flavor he told me what was in it (Cardamom) to make sure I was okay with that. He provided great customer service! On to the flavors. The 3 that I selected were pistachio, Malai Kulfi, and I want to say Caramel butter cookie?! The flavors were delicious and sweet. If I had to choose 1 out of the 3 that caramel joint was bomb, you could really taste the buttery flavor. Really all 3 were great. They were pretty sweet so a tiny cup is all I would need. I've been so disenchanted with ice cream places around Houston that I was kind of overwhelmed coming here. They have SO many good flavors!! I love that you can get up to 3 flavors in a small cup. It's perfect!! I went with the bizarre combo of toasted black sesame, pistachio, and grapefruit rosemary. Each flavor was delicious! The pistachio is really fantastic and probably the best version of pistachio ice cream I've had. I also thought several other flavors were really good, like vanilla bean tres leches, rose milk, and lemon. Nothing I tried was unpleasant. I went to SweetCup last night for the first time and it was one of the most pleasant gelato experiences in Houston. They have a HUGE selection of flavors. One of the things that I liked the most was that they not only have gelato but also carry sorbets and two other things which I can't remember :( I tried a bit of their affogato that my friend had ordered. It was not my favorite but that was probably the way he ordered it. However, MY GELATO WAS NEARLY PERFECT. I got malai kulfi (cardamom and almonds) and bacai (sp?) which is the hazelnut mixed with some liqueur. This is very fairly priced compared to some of the other gelato places I have been in the US. The four star rating is based on the total experience while being there and therefore I think because of the service it got the extra bump. The lady at the counter, who claimed it was her second day at work, was super helpful and knew way too much about gelato and pairings. I only got two flavors when you are charged for three. She offered me another flavor but did not clarify that regardless of however many flavors we order we will be charged for three. This apparently seemed to upset my friend because she loves eating even if the flavors don't go well together. However, I was very content with the two flavors that I got in my cup. I came to SweetCup on a Thursday night with my hoodrat friends. The worker behind the counter was super friendly and let us sample basically everything between the three of us. When we first arrived around 8pm on Thursday, not a single person was inside. After picking our flavors, we sat down and about 20 minutes into our dessert meal, the place was packed and remained packed until we left at 10pm! There are a plethora of flavors to choose from - they have coconut, dirty banana (banana and chocolate chip), whiskey butter (my friend loved this), sugar free cappuccino, cookies and cream, pineapple, vanilla bean tees leches (hello), and the list goes on and on. They even had a variety of treats with various flavors - gelato, sorbet for the lactose intolerant, and custard. I got the coconut and pineapple sorbet and it hit the sweet spot. It wasn't overly sweet but more than enough sugar to satisfy my fourth meal appetite. As a bonus, it came with a triangular piece of waffle. What more could a girl want? Not the best in town but pretty darn good! The gelato may have been better than the sorbet but this poor easily irritable stomach will never know. read more

This is one of my favorite dessert spots in the area. One of my favorite parts about SweetCup are that they have a rotation of flavors, so whenever I go (I've been maybe 5 or 6 times at this point), there's always at least one new flavor to try! I generally get the creamier/dairy-based flavors, but the sorbet options are really good as well. My all-time favorite is the dirty coconut!! Another thing I love about this place is that the small cup allows you to get 3 scoops, which is perfect if you like to try multiple flavors in one trip!! Bright pink, nice and sweet, with an earthy finish. Definitely beet, in a good way. I also opted for the toasted sesame and the blue moon something or other which was berries, a little lemon, and something about a marshmallow base. Even though this place is blocks from my place, I hadn't stumbled upon it until today. It is a small place in a shopping strip so easy to miss. First thing I liked, as soon as I walked in I was attended and asked if this was my first time there. Which I highly appreciate going somewhere new can be intimidating, not knowing how everything works. He explained how the different size cups work, the flavor options and the diary/nondairy labeling. Only hard things was deciding what flavors to try. I chose three flavors: Pomegranate, Tres Leches, and Raspberry-Rita. Highly recommend the Pomegranate. The Tres Leches was good, but very sweet. The Raspberry was okay but no where near as good as the other two. I got a small cup, which lets you have three options, and it was the right side to cure a sweet tooth. Only negative aspect would be the size of the place, if you go during busy time you may not have seating available. They have a couple tables outside to eat there. Soooooo goood. The whiskey butter is sweet with a sexy whiskey hint at the end. The Caramalized Banana had a taste close to cookie dough the caramel and Banana swirled in. Nom-tastic. I think I sampled six flavors before I settled on a small cup of Orange, Strawberry Balsamic, and Berry Compote sorbet, topped with a waffle cone (pictured). Cousin Sarah's Dulce de Leche gelato is not for the faint of heart; my friend sampled it and said it was definitely an acquired taste! It had ricotta cheese, which definitely made it a unique flavor.
